We also use it for invoicing. It allows for recurring invoices. Deposits are very timely and now have the ability to instantly deposit funds to your account. Cons The only addition I would recommend would be, the addition of a CRM module. But, I understand if not possible, as this is not an all-inclusive application. I like that they have evolved over time and released newer products that fit the changing market. They have consistently been easy to use and it's a fantastic solution for a smaller business. Pros This software works well for a small business or smaller non-profit. There are no monthly fees and pricing is straight forward. The start up cost is very low and the card readers are affordable. We found it very easy to use and we could train users on the basics within minutes. I liked that we could set specific user functions for each user so that we can track how much they charged, etc. but that we could also limit them from seeing certain information if we would like. Cons This software works great for a smaller business or non-profit but it wouldn't be ideal for a larger companies because it isn't as scale-able. There are other more affordable solutions out there when you're dealing with large revenues. It integrates well with our Inventory Management solution to allow us to both manage our inventory and process payments seamlessly. Cons Obviously as with any web-based system connectivity can be an issue, and given our locations when using Square I wish it was just a little more powerful in terms of communication power. There is a part of me that wishes it was more powerful in terms of inventory management as well, but that doesn't detract from what it does, it does well. Review Source RF Ritchie F. Pros Square is a very easy to set up POS and payments system for small businesses. We did a lot of event sales and as long as we had internet our Square worked flawlessly in real time. Anyone that was helping us was able to use the system with no issues with only minutes of training. Development Associate Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Point of Sale by Square" August 9, 2019 5.0 Pros We as an organization really like using Point of Sale by Square when we are at fundraisers we put on as a non-profit and people want to make donations but do not have cash, check, etc. but only have a card. It makes it really easy that the card reader just plugs into the iPad and we can accept credit card donations while out and about! Cons Even though our donations can still process without our iPad being on WIFI, I still don't recommend doing it unless you absolutely have too. It can sometimes be tricky to get that information to show up on the back side of things. Helps with bookkeeping and allows me to make or take payments anywhere I am. I couldn’t do what I do without it! Pros It allowed me to take my full business with me. I make floral bouquets for local dance recitals and I set up onsite at the venue and the parents and friends purchase them before the recital starts. Cons There is nothing I don’t like about Square. Pros I have used many payment processors in the past 17 years of being self-employed. Square is the only processor that allows me to create invoices, packages and specific items all in one place. Before Square, I had to use different products to run my business. Square offers all of this in one safe place! And there’s an app! Cons I have not come across a problem using Square so far. January 24, 2019 5.0 Square has made it super simple as a small business owner to get started and to keep track of my accounting. Pros I am a small business owner and square is so easy and affordable and it allows me to access all kinds of information about my business that I would have no idea that I needed until later when it was difficult to gather that information. Its affordable and is set up so I pay for my fees as I go with each transaction instead of a huge fee at the beginning or end of the month. It is also easy for me to run transactions on my phone, so when I am at a show or sending invoices, I can process payments on my computer or phone without having to carry around big heavy outdated technology. I also love that square has the same fee so I can accept every type of payment. Square also syncs products up with Etsy or your square website and has simple free website options or more detailed and professional options. Cons I wish that I could somehow accept payments through Venmo as well as PayPal. I also sometimes have trouble syncing updates for products from my computer to my phone but not the other way around and I haven't quite figured out if I'm doing something wrong or not. It took off just not my business but many others. In a world that is changing from paper bills to credit cards, and phone pay. This really help me reach a proadure audience and was able to help my business excel. Just by pluging this little device in my phone allowed me to lock in sales I wouldnt have been able to without it. Cons What I liked about most was this product was a simple as putting it in the headphone jack of your cell phone. Although now my new phone doesn't a headphone jack. So I hope they come up with another way to use my iphone. We needed a good number of them (8) and when I reached out to Square they sent us all 8 devices free of charge. They were extremely convenient and intuitive - we were able to train volunteers to use them in less than an hour. They work with any smartphone equipped with a headphone jack, so no fancy or expensive processor equipment was needed. The only major limitation we found was that the device does not automatically capture a customer's contact information (name, email, etc.), so if you do not record it manually at the time, you will have a big headache trying to link customer records to transactions later on. Pros 1\. Really great customer service. 2. Convenient size and smart design. 3. Intuitive user interface, both for mobile and desktop. 4. Good reporting capacity. Cons 1\. The fees can be higher than other systems, but the more people feel comfortable with a system the easier the sale becomes. Pros Square is very simple to learn and use as an end user, and it has gain a lot of popularity recently, customers feel more and more comfortable with this system. I was skeptical at first, but credit card rates were also very competitive with our previous merchant services provider.
