I appreciate how intuitive the interface is—for both staff and customers—which helps keep the checkout process quick and professional. Pros Its easy and versatile. Its comes with inventory, ordering, sales, customer management, and reporting tools. All in one place. Its really excellent. Pros Its pos is convenient to use on the go and set up to a smartphone. Its easy to transfer funds to account. Cons Customer service is terrible, its almost impossible to get someone on the phone and they shut your account down with no warning or the abilty to appeal the decision. Training time is minimal. Pros My staff are able to process payments without issue. Additionally, new staff members are able to learn the system quickly. Cons At this moment in time my staff and I do not have any issues with using Square Point of Sale. We are quite content. They are always looking for ways to improve and hold a lot of various beta testing you can join. Pros Easy to use. Customer service is great. Free app. Cons No weekend phone support or chat support. November 20, 2024 5.0 Square has been a godsend. We started using it in 2011 and it has grown so much. The info at your fingertips on sales trends, item sales, customer average spend, etc can make you realize trends or items you didn't realize were popular. now it is more normal to see an iPad as a register, but people were blown away when we started and took away the giant clunky Casio cash registers and marveled at how modern and slick it was. Pros Super easy to use, can train anyone in minutes with the simple touch screen interface compared to trying to teach someone a cats register with all its cryptic buttons and key turns. Cons I wish it was a bit more flexible in the layout of the POS and what buttons could and can't be shown or dragging pages of favorites in different order. We use Squarespace and Acuity Scheduling, and can collect payment on site with Square POS. Cons Nothing comes to mind - we are pleased with the ease of use and ease of integration for this product. " April 11, 2025 5.0 It’s been great I use square POS for cards that don’t have tap to pay since the connector to my phone allows me to swipe cards. Pros It’s easy to install and you can get the hardware everywhere. Cons Nothing bad, but I’ve lost the thing I plug to my phone a couple of times. Luckily you can get them at your local supermarket and are inexpensive. Alternatives considered [Shopify POS](https://www.capterra.com/p/205337/Shopify-POS/) Reason for choosing Square Point of Sale I combine Shopify pos with square. Being at the gym parents are able to make payment right then and there and not have to go home or log into an app to pay. Pros I like the ability to take payments anywhere at any time when our sports team needs it. The freedom to not have to wait is nice. Cons The ease of moving money is not that great. Having to wait to have the money moved to out account is not always feasible. the percentage being charged is a little high. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. Cons Sometimes, especially when using the desktop (I'm primarily on the app on my phone) it's harder to find things as it doesn't seem to be set up quite the same as the app. Alternatives considered [TravelBank](https://www.capterra.com/p/170784/TravelBank/) Reason for choosing Square Point of Sale Square was just the better choice overall. I can write up an invoice in minutes with my saved items and I can collect a deposit in seconds with tap to pay or via emailing the customer. It’s a very easy process for the customer to pay when sent via email. I can schedule out when the final payment is due for a repair and it’s saved in their system if I ever need to look back at the invoice. Pros That you can use tap to pay, and the processing fees are fair. Cons There’s not much to dislike about square. Sometimes invoicing won’t have your description saved, but doesn’t happen often. Switched from [QuickBooks Money](https://www.capterra.com/p/170065/QuickBooks-Money/) Although I still use QuickBooks for accounting I switched to square for their easy and efficient invoicing. It helped us greatly that the terminals are simple to programme and use. Really happy overall. Pros Such a simple and smart system to use. I love that you can tap a payment card on a terminal to bring up all previous transactions. Cons Nothing in particular. It is probably the best system I’ve used on the market. I feel like the percentage of sales it takes is a little much, especially for the simplicity of it. We mainly used square for running the bar which is not good for a fast paced environment. When running the merch area it was fine, as it isnt as busy when searching for items. Great if you are just starting out. Pros Square is super easy to use and is great for small businesses. Cons On the app, we had to manually enter the card number because the "tap" feature wasnt the best while doing transactions. January 2, 2024 5.0 Before Square I had sleepless nights, no time with my children, no me time and I was always worried that I was missing something pertaining to my business. When I was introduced to Square my life has forever changed. My smile returned and my children have their mom back!! Pros As a single mother of 5 I live a hectic and stressful life. With Square point of sale I can focus more on my family since I know I have a software that practically runs my business for me. Cons I have nothing negative to say except why wasn’t this software around a lot sooner.
