March 7, 2018 5.0 Pros I love the simplicity of the system. Everything is right on an ipad and not only does it look simple and elegant, it functions that way too! It's super easy to set up all of your products, and customer's find it extremely easy to use and most of them are familiar with it as Square POS is all over the place! Pros Square was great when we were first opening our business. The ability to invoice and take payments online so easily was a boon to our company, as was the ability to take in-person cards with an affordable card reader from our local box store. The website is super easy to use, as is in-person card swiping. Cons We outgrew Square at a certain point, and needed something capable of integration with a PMS system, and Square wasn't able to integrate with our fairly large and well-known PMS system. August 30, 2022 5.0 We like that it works immediately with our banking accounts and that we can easily see the transactions at a glance. Pros The integration of the Square POS was literally done in mere seconds. It was seamless and quick. It looks nice and simple too! We have had zero issues with the functionality and plan on using it for a long time. Cons Occasionally, we have to walk clients through using Square POS. But that is typically a generational thing and once we walk them through it once, they understand the process. The representative had absolutely no answers to solve my problem, making my work harder than options enabled by Breadcrumb, Toast or Adelo. Pros It is a very friendly user interface for basic cashiers, likely nominal for coffee shops or small clothing stores and the like. They seemed to focus on its ease of use. Cons Overall lack of options. Slow, clunky, and allows theft easily for businesses in nightlife. Certain steps make the work absolutely tedious. The program seems to be somewhat unresponsive compared to pro models of newer POS systems from other companies. This was good for 2008, not 2018. Review Source AC Aaron C. Pros Square is very easy to set-up and use as a point-of-sale payment collector, and it's great how it automates receipts via email -- love the emphasis on a paperless and streamlined system! Also easy to set up across online sales and on-site sales with items sellable via an online link or via their signature card reader. Cons The backend analytics are not as customizable as I would always like for organizing customer data and often require some clever loopholes or extra time to really export all the data you need as an institution. They don't take a very large percentage of plastic sales. It's an easier way to accept different payments and keep track of them if you are a vendor at events. Pros The thing I like most about Square's point of sale application is the ease of use. I can easily figure out how to add an item to my inventory, set a price, and the stock number I have of it. When it comes to charging a person, I don't have to look at every single item and use a calculator to figure out their total. This is so much faster by selecting the products they want to purchase at checkout from a dropdown list and it automatically calculates the total, where I can input that they paid by money, or have them swipe their debit or credit card with their free magstripe reader to complete the purchase. Cons The thing I like least about this application is if you have it running on your phone and you shut off your display with square still on, it drains the battery like crazy. I think this could be improved because I barely made it through a 5 hour craft show with this on my phone. Review Source RW Roger W. Pros The credit card swiping and entering is obviously great. But the functionality of the invoices and setting up a super basic online store is great. Cons It has higher processing costs than most card systems out there. The attachment for swiping cards can also be hard to use if you don't have a super flat surface available. Review Source Sage C. February 28, 2020 5.0 We have multiple users in our office selling products in our campus bakery. Teaching others how to use it is easy. Pulling reports is not difficult to learn. Adding and deleting items is quick and easy. We love it! Pros I love how Square Point of Sale allows the user to visually see the merchandise that we sell from its screen. Of course, you have to program it to work this way, but this feature allows my staff to quickly serve a customer by glancing at the screen. Cons Quickly adding discounts to products was cumbersome.
