Most of the time, the summary, priorities and tasks are extremely well chosen. I watch my speaking time so I can talk less. Pros Fathom summarizes, prioritizes and makes sense of videoconference meetings. You can even see your speaking time live, which reminds you to let others do the talking. Summaries are precise and well contextualized, starting with a highly relevant objective and summary of the meeting if you don't want to read the whole thing. It's synchronized with hubspot, automatically saving meeting notes and creating tasks. Cons Areas for improvement: the tasks are in English, even though I'm a French speaker, and the summaries are in French. The “your questions” section isn't very relevant, with sentences that don't always correspond to what was said, and question assignments that aren't always correct. Founder Professional Training & Coaching Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Lost Two Years of Client Data Due to Fathom's Poor Customer Service" December 18, 2024 1.0 I would strongly advise anyone, particularly startups and solopreneurs, to avoid using Fathom at the risk of losing your intellectual property. I used Fathom for two years and was happy with the services. When I first signed up for an account I used an email address related to a business development organization that I belonged to. Fast forward two years, and I decide to leave the business development network and attempt to change the email associated with my Fathom account. Fathom makes it incredibly difficult to do this. You can't just go into your account settings and change your email, but you need to send a form requesting their assistance. Finding this form was itself a challenge, and only possible after I sent a Help request to them. I made the change request several weeks prior to when the account transfer was needed and I got zero response. I followed up twice including a specific drop dead date by which I needed the change made or I was going to lose access. Still nothing. Three weeks later and after a third attempt to resolve the problem they get back to me. Only at this point do they inform me that their policy prohibits them from making the account transfer without proof of ownership of the old account; however that ship had sailed and I was no longer in a position to do so. Had they responded when I initially made the account transfer request, this would not have been a problem. When I explained the situation and pointed out that their slow response prohibited me from complying with their policy, they basically told me that I would have to accept losing TWO YEARS of client data. All because their own customer service was unable to respond to my account change request. This has caused significant damage to my company, as I no longer have access to transcripts and files for several long-term client relationships. Fathom is taking zero accountability. I feel like they have illegally expropriated my business secrets, but regardless I'm left stuck with no resolution in sight. There are plenty of competitors out there where this would not be a concern. Don't take a chance at losing all of your data due to Fathom's incompetence. I've reached out to them on multiple occasions, and have always received a helpful and timely response. Pros The Fathom notetaker is genuinely awesome. You can use it in any video meeting (Google, Zoom, Teams, etc.), and it's better than the built-in Google Gemini notetaker (as of the time of writing). The ai summary notes are ACCURATE. Like-- impressively accurate. Like-- more accurate than if you had a human taking notes with you. And because it records the meetings, you can click on a sentence from the ai notes and it will replay that section of the call for extra context! To me, the coolest thing is that it creates "action steps" following a meeting. In addition to insightful meeting summaries that break down each chunk of your conversation/call/talk, it automatically creates a to-do list for you (great for sharing with your counterpart, because you KNOW they aren't taking good notes). Cons Sometimes you can't NOT add Fathom to your meetings. That is, sometimes I don't open the Fathom app, or specifically request that it not join a meeting (because I want to save my monthly free credits for other meetings), but it seems to join anyway. If I had a paid plan or infinite credits then I wouldn't have a problem with having it in every meeting; but I'd like to be able to confidently say "don't join this meeting" to save credits for my high-impact meetings. Annoyance I don't know how to solve: I'm an iMac user and make use of the multiple desktops feature, and opening Fathom may switch me to a different "desktop." I never really know where Fathom is going to launch; and though I CAN move the Fathom instance/window around my computer as needed, it'd be nicer if it always just opened in the screen I'M actually in. Sometimes getting on a call isn't feasible so having the ability to upload a conversation would save a lot of time in the future. I love the real time monologue and percentage of talk time that pops up while you are in the meeting. Cons So far it's really been great. I wanted to actually record an in person meeting the other day and couldn't figure out how to do it so I opened zoom so I could have the notes afterwards. You might be able to open it for in person meetings but I haven't figure out how yet. "Sorry I can't write that fast, please repeat" etc. With Fathom, I just talk and they talk and it's all organized and written out for me when we finish. I also used to have a hard time deciphering what the next steps were from my scribbles taken during the meeting. Fathom determines the action items for me! AND for the attendees! Pros Fathom is super user friendly and the integrations with the video conferencing software is flawless. The control over how the reports are structured are very customizable. The look, functionality and results are second to none in my opinion. I also appreciate that I can program it to auto join so I dont need to remember to also add my notetaker. The calendar reminders really help me not miss a meeting. Plus you can launch the whole thing from your Fathom without needing to also open the video conferencing software. So easy! Cons I really haven't run into any issues! I guess my only request would be an ability to re-name the meeting before or during it vs after the recording is complete. Like if I could just click on the mini desktop control widget and change "Impromptu Zoom Meeting" to the actual title or topic that would be great! I like that it's added to all of my calls, although I did have an issue with one of my most recent ones. Cons Sometimes it can get buggy. Downloading it and getting it added to my calls was a bit complicated, but once it was set up, it's mostly worked fine. February 19, 2025 5.0 It is keeping track of everything said and allowing me to go back and review exteremely technical discussions to ensure I have capture all of the client requirements when writing up creative briefs. Pros I am able to be fully present in all of my meetings. I am no longer shifting my eye contact away to take notes. I am able to keep on tract with everything going on within the meeting. The recap of the meeting is by far my favorite feature. Being able to easily and quickly access individual parts of a meeting during later review is game changing. It also provides a source of honesty and truth. We can easily tell what was saida and by whom - no more thinking someone said something when that something else. It is super easy to use and get setup within Zoom. I use this multiple times per week. Cons I honestly do not have any dislikes. I'm much more efficient as a result of not having to focus on note-taking while speaking with customers. The software is very intuitive and loads up every time I go into a meeting. Pros I am a Project Manager and am fully remote. I have upwards of 20 online meetings per week, and used to be distracted trying to take notes while in the midst of meetings. Fathom is so easy to use. The installation is simple and once that's done it essentially runs itself. The software is light and causes no delay in my work. Within minutes of ending I get a full meeting resume which makes sense, and which I can share with my customers. I also work in French, and was blown away by the fact that fathom worked equally as well in another language, without me having to change parameters. I often times go back to review my videos on sales calls so I can see how I can improve. Having the videos for playback is really useful! Pros I love that Fathom is there for me if I miss anything in my meetings. I rest assured that my handy-dandy notetaker was there and I can go back, review the key takeways, notes, transcript, or even playback the video for more clarity if needed. Additionally, some of my other favorite features are that it keeps the Chat, so any comments or links I may have missed or need to go back to, I can. Ask Fathom Al is also another fantastic feature if I'm unable to quickly find something — I can just ask! Flippin brilliant! The only thing I've found challenging with Fathom was being unable to update my email address in my account settings. I had to reach out to the company, which they were very helpful and successful in doing! Fathom is transcribing, hosting and giving me summaries of my calls. Ensuring that I can go back and retrieve the necessary information I need, while I focus on the meeting and the people on the call. Pros I love that I don't need to spend time taking notes during meetingss, I can easily extrapolate action items straight out of the meeting notes, and I can always come back to a meeting if I need to reference a meeting transcript. Cons I love fathom, but sometimes my fathom bot doesn't enter a meeting, or I have to chase one of my team members for their recording. I also wish the fathom bot didn't take up a whole tile on meetings. Sometimes our team meetings have as many fathom bots as we have users, which can be annoying. Review Source Tim L. I have not had to take notes in meetings since using Fathom. And the AI part is on point with things that need action and highlights of the meeting. Cons None.
