It does exactly what it promises, with fast support and an easy setup. Pros Fathom is simple in its use and doesn't hide a lot of its features behind a paywall. They provide more than the other AI notetakers and it was lot easier to set up than the others as well. Whenever I've had a question, their support responds in hours, sometimes minutes, not in days. Couldn't ask for much more than that. Cons One thing I wish Fathom did was give the ability to upload audio files to be transcribed. Sometimes getting on a call isn't feasible so having the ability to upload a conversation would save a lot of time in the future. Founder Professional Training & Coaching Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Lost Two Years of Client Data Due to Fathom's Poor Customer Service" December 18, 2024 1.0 I would strongly advise anyone, particularly startups and solopreneurs, to avoid using Fathom at the risk of losing your intellectual property. I used Fathom for two years and was happy with the services. When I first signed up for an account I used an email address related to a business development organization that I belonged to. Fast forward two years, and I decide to leave the business development network and attempt to change the email associated with my Fathom account. Fathom makes it incredibly difficult to do this. You can't just go into your account settings and change your email, but you need to send a form requesting their assistance. Finding this form was itself a challenge, and only possible after I sent a Help request to them. I made the change request several weeks prior to when the account transfer was needed and I got zero response. I followed up twice including a specific drop dead date by which I needed the change made or I was going to lose access. Still nothing. Three weeks later and after a third attempt to resolve the problem they get back to me. Only at this point do they inform me that their policy prohibits them from making the account transfer without proof of ownership of the old account; however that ship had sailed and I was no longer in a position to do so. Had they responded when I initially made the account transfer request, this would not have been a problem. When I explained the situation and pointed out that their slow response prohibited me from complying with their policy, they basically told me that I would have to accept losing TWO YEARS of client data. All because their own customer service was unable to respond to my account change request. This has caused significant damage to my company, as I no longer have access to transcripts and files for several long-term client relationships. Fathom is taking zero accountability. I feel like they have illegally expropriated my business secrets, but regardless I'm left stuck with no resolution in sight. There are plenty of competitors out there where this would not be a concern. Don't take a chance at losing all of your data due to Fathom's incompetence. Most of the time, the summary, priorities and tasks are extremely well chosen. I watch my speaking time so I can talk less. Pros Fathom summarizes, prioritizes and makes sense of videoconference meetings. You can even see your speaking time live, which reminds you to let others do the talking. Summaries are precise and well contextualized, starting with a highly relevant objective and summary of the meeting if you don't want to read the whole thing. It's synchronized with hubspot, automatically saving meeting notes and creating tasks. Cons Areas for improvement: the tasks are in English, even though I'm a French speaker, and the summaries are in French. The “your questions” section isn't very relevant, with sentences that don't always correspond to what was said, and question assignments that aren't always correct. Pros I love the great notes it creates at the end I was using a different note taking app but Fathom is so much better. I love the real time monologue and percentage of talk time that pops up while you are in the meeting. Cons So far it's really been great. I wanted to actually record an in person meeting the other day and couldn't figure out how to do it so I opened zoom so I could have the notes afterwards. You might be able to open it for in person meetings but I haven't figure out how yet. I've reached out to them on multiple occasions, and have always received a helpful and timely response. Pros The Fathom notetaker is genuinely awesome. You can use it in any video meeting (Google, Zoom, Teams, etc.), and it's better than the built-in Google Gemini notetaker (as of the time of writing). The ai summary notes are ACCURATE. Like-- impressively accurate. Like-- more accurate than if you had a human taking notes with you. And because it records the meetings, you can click on a sentence from the ai notes and it will replay that section of the call for extra context! To me, the coolest thing is that it creates "action steps" following a meeting. In addition to insightful meeting summaries that break down each chunk of your conversation/call/talk, it automatically creates a to-do list for you (great for sharing with your counterpart, because you KNOW they aren't taking good notes). Cons Sometimes you can't NOT add Fathom to your meetings. That is, sometimes I don't open the Fathom app, or specifically request that it not join a meeting (because I want to save my monthly free credits for other meetings), but it seems to join anyway. If I had a paid plan or infinite credits then I wouldn't have a problem with having it in every meeting; but I'd like to be able to confidently say "don't join this meeting" to save credits for my high-impact meetings. Annoyance I don't know how to solve: I'm an iMac user and make use of the multiple desktops feature, and opening Fathom may switch me to a different "desktop." I never really know where Fathom is going to launch; and though I CAN move the Fathom instance/window around my computer as needed, it'd be nicer if it always just opened in the screen I'M actually in. It accurately breaks down any frustrations, pain points, or open items and allows me to review with ease for after action items as well as share information with my team. It especially allows me to just focus on the conversation and what is being said. This is especially nice with Clients who want to feel heard and not just watch you type throughout the meeting as you take notes lest you forget something critical to them. Pros Fathom seamlessly integrates with my Teams meetings and automatically joins in, records everything, and then provides me a detailed synopsis that allows me to highlight any point, review any outstanding tasks, or even simply just click a button and it will send the recap to everyone who was on the call. It makes note taking, To-Do Lists, and everything else much simpler. Unscheduled meetings can easily be joined by copying the meeting link to Fathom on your desktop. I'm sure it can do much more I just haven't explored every available feature. Setup was easy with a simple link that automatically downloaded and integrated into my existing meeting schedule. I have used it for every meeting, even simple ones to make sure I never miss a task or note. No reasons to call Customer Support yet but I am sure they are just as amazing as their product since it really seems like they have taken customer feedback and tailored their product to exactly what we need. March 19, 2025 5.0 Before during a Zoom meeting, I would have to have a pen and paper with me and ask the person to "hold on...what was that again?" "Sorry I can't write that fast, please repeat" etc. With Fathom, I just talk and they talk and it's all organized and written out for me when we finish. I also used to have a hard time deciphering what the next steps were from my scribbles taken during the meeting. Fathom determines the action items for me! AND for the attendees! Pros Fathom is super user friendly and the integrations with the video conferencing software is flawless. The control over how the reports are structured are very customizable. The look, functionality and results are second to none in my opinion. I also appreciate that I can program it to auto join so I dont need to remember to also add my notetaker. The calendar reminders really help me not miss a meeting. Plus you can launch the whole thing from your Fathom without needing to also open the video conferencing software. So easy! Cons I really haven't run into any issues! I guess my only request would be an ability to re-name the meeting before or during it vs after the recording is complete. Like if I could just click on the mini desktop control widget and change "Impromptu Zoom Meeting" to the actual title or topic that would be great! It's awesome for this. Some issues: 1. We have daily standup, and it's my practice to type dot points with the summary and action items as people speak. Sometimes I get it wrong. Sometimes I miss what's being said. Now I don't have to do any of this, and simply be part of the conversation, knowing the summary/actions are being created. 2. Sometimes I have meeting after meeting and forget what I committed to do three meetings back! 3. Sometimes I don't quite pick up some of the conversation, particularly if the line is a bit bad or if the accents are hard, or, let's be honest, if my mind wanders. However Fathom gets it all. Ultimately, Fathom helps me have a record of all my online conversations with a summary and set of actions and is excellent and awesome for being able to cover everything that must be done and review what was discussed. I've also found the support team very friendly and helpful when I've talked to them. Pros Fathom is an AI-based notetaker and as you might expect, it gives you AI summaries of your meetings. However, what's really nice is how seamless it blends in. It monitors your calendar and Teams/Zoom/etc. and automatically joins with you. You can remove it from any meeting if desired, but otherwise, it joins in silently, and then gives you a summary at the end - with action items, and importantly, hyperlinks to the relevant part of the meeting so you can always go back and review the recording and transcript. There's a paid tier for teams to collaborate, but for free you still have a personal assistant that keeps you on top of all your meetings. It's easy to review the summaries and to check off the action items. What this means is during the meeting you are free to engage, talk, collaborate - without worrying about taking notes or being distracted. It also does a better job than I can of understanding all the nuances of some of my English-as-a-second-language colleagues. You can also hook it up to a CRM so your call summaries are auto-filed there. Cons There's not a lot to dislike, particularly given it has a free tier. However, I suppose some minor wish-list items are that I could personalise the AI assistant so when it joins a meeting it has a particular image/name, but that's very trite. Sometimes it doesn't quite understand my good old Australian accent properly - but this gives us a bit of a laugh at what it thinks I said. We can figure out what was meant and it's not a problem, though one feature request could be that we can edit the summary and perhaps train the AI on these misunderstandings. Videos have been really helpful when the owners of my company want to see what my team is doing with customers. Also helpful for training my team. Pros I'm on the back side of my career. I'm past wanting to adopt a lot of new technology. The thought of AI in general is overwhelming to me. My boss talked me into trying Fathom and it has blown me away. I use it on my Teams meetings with customers and with my team. It filters out the meaningless talk and highlights just the key points in the meeting and it is shockingly accurate. I get an email recap as soon as my meeting has ended and I can put that recap in my CRM, share it with the owners of my company, use it for follow-up tasks etc. It also gives you a recording of the meeting to use for training etc. It makes itself known by showing as a participant in the meeting, and titles itself as "my fathom note taker". Not at all intrusive. I've shared the recap notes with my customers. It's saved me a ton of time in recaps alone. It's really great! Cons When your meeting starts, Fathom generally takes about a minute to join - So the pop-up notification that Fathom has entered your meeting can disrupt initial greetings etc. But this is a small issue that hasn't caused any disruptions to my meetings yet. Fathom consistently delivers on a seamless experience for sharing and collaborating on meetings, making it easy to share transcriptions and AI summaries across various scenarios and in different formats, and has a helpful support team to keep us aligned. Pros Fathom is a fantastic tool to increase productivty and maximize your valuable time! There are a TON of AI based tools launching to market meant to summarize video and audio content so, I was looking for something in the product to stand out and really show me value worth the additional price (especially since Zoom and some other video conferencing tools already offer features out of the box to summarize and report on meetings). What sets Fathom apart is convenience, collaboration, integration and usefulness. Specifically, the way Fathom auto-joins meetings and initiates recordings is seamless and somewhat minimizes the stigma associated with asking the host to record the meeting. By auto-joining, I can privately capture any content and choose to share it at a later point. For sessions I want to share, there is a pool of content across various internal peers that I can now more easily access as opposed to needing to manually share individual recordings. Recordings alone are useful, but the AI generated summaries definitely exceed the quality of out-of-box solutions and do offer good value. The AI summaries also add tasks which can be tracked and generally, most importantly, the summaries are surprisingly accurate with only minor tweaks being required. Cons There are only some minor controls that I would like to see in the future come from the Fathom team. So far, more granular control and seperation of the summarization from video would be valuable. Essentially, having the ability to generate a summary without a recording or choose which functions I want to take from a call, although, these are minor asks. Finally, more granular control of organizing content would be a helpful addition. In the solution, adding content to folders defaults to sharing across your internal teams, but having the ability to create folders with per user access would make it much easier to disperse content individually. Before using it, I’d finish a Zoom call and either scramble to take notes during the meeting or try to remember key details afterward—neither of which worked all that well. Now, with Fathom automatically generating transcripts and summaries, I can stay fully present in meetings and know that everything’s being captured accurately. One of the biggest problems Fathom solves for me is keeping track of important conversations. I love that I can search through transcripts, find exactly what was said, and even jump straight to that moment in the Zoom recording. I'm not very tech-savvy, but I found this software very easy to install and use. I also really like how organized the meeting summary notes are that it provides at the end. They're easy to follow, very helpful, and include a separate list of action items so I don't forget the things I need to do next. I love this software because, while I normally take good notes, it's easy to miss things. With Fathom, I know I can count on it to capture every important detail for me, so I don't have to worry about forgetting to jot something down or failing to take action on a task. I would definitely recommend this software to any working professional. I can easily send client notes and tasks forward, keep organized meeting notes, and even repurpose the content for other uses like content creation. It streamlines my workflow and saves me a ton of time. Pros I don’t have to worry about taking notes during meetings- I can just focus on the conversation. It feels great to really listen to my clients without stressing about forgetting something important. Fathom handles the recording, transcribing, and even pulling out the key moments automatically.
