Cons Honestly, I did not experience any feature or deficiency that I would complain about. Quickly transcribing the meeting without hanging up or making hallucinative errors, I summarize it by segmenting it for you. I can also provide the transcript file if you wish. It allows me to be totally focused when listening to my clients. I especially like the highlight button. Whenever the other person on my zoom call is saying something very important, I push the highlight button and it catches the full thought and intent of the speaker. I also like the fact that I can save the summary in a word doc and skip the paper. This tool is a godsend! Cons I haven't found a downside, but I do need to learn how to use the additional buttons. The free version will get you 90% of the way there if you want to try it out. The greatest benefit of the Premium version for us is the templated summaries and the AI generated action items. We upgraded multiple teammates who are more client-facing to the premium version while a few of us could maintain the free version no problem. We've loved it! Pros Fathom is so intuitive. beyond helpful, and easy to use. It jumps right in to your meetings, was seamless to implement, follows along with minimal error, allows you to highlight important aspects of the meeting, easily integrates into the meeting platform you're already using, has incredible customer support (who were proactive might I add in resolving MOST of my potential issues before they even occurred), and allows me to be fully engaged in my meeting instead of worrying about taking notes and tracking action items. I have started using it for every meeting, even quick internal ones, because of how helpful the tracking and summaries are. Highly recommend! Cons I don't love that there is a whole separate user added to your video meetings. It would also be helpful if the platform proactively assisted in cleaning up the summaries, whether it's spelling errors it guessed on or items it didn't completely follow. These are MINOR tweaks, the platform is amazing overall! Everyone seems to be really excited with my regular sending of the meetings summaries as well. It's been really easy and painless to use. Pros I love how it summarizes key topics and takeaways as well as extracting action item to-do lists for each respective member of the call. I also love that the I can forward the recording to everybody on the call with the click of a button and that it's ready within about 30 seconds. I can also go back and have a look what are the key takeaways from the meeting and then go to the exact place in the video so I can review back. Cons Sometimes I need to get the transcript of a pre-recorded video or audio. I can "share screen" and Fathom will sunnarize what it hears, but I have to login from a different account in addition to my main one or it won't make the recording. Apparently, if there aren't two connections, it doesn't think there is anything to record. I can be confident that all the key take-aways will be ready and waiting for me with a high-degree of accuracy after the call. Fathom also records the calls so I can reflect afterwards or re-watch anything that I need to for team development purposes. Pros It's a brilliant tool that, with a high degree of accuracy, is able to take notes on your calls. I am particularly impressed with the 'key take-aways' which have always captured the salient points clearly and accurately. Installation is easy and you can set it up to automatically join calls or selectively join (with your permission). I now use it wherever I can as it captures far more than I can with notetaking and I can be more present in the conversation. Cons The main challenge is if you are using a client's conferencing system, they might reject the notetaker joining the call and therefore you don't get the benefits. Executive Coach Management Consulting Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "The Best Meeting Assistant I've Found" December 18, 2023 5.0 Pros My role these days is split between two primary responsibilities: Testing new AI technologies for my business, and meeting with coaching clients. I've tested dozens of AI tools over the last few weeks, and none have blown me away as quickly and consistently as Fathom. As a coach that's a part of a larger team, almost every one of Fathom's features feels like it was custom-built for me. The ability to easily capture action items, grab high-lights, and highlight successes completely streamlined my follow-up process. Beyond that, the auto-transcription is amongst the best I've used as well, even when transcribing speakers with different accents. I've also especially enjoyed Fathom's ability to turn transcripts into powerful and actionable summaries. Cons The only thing I don't love about Fathom, and I don't know that there's a way around this, is that it has to sit in on the Zoom call as a separate attendee. That feels a little clunky to me, and makes it something I need to explain to those I'm meeting with. I'd love if it just ran in the background without needing to join the call as an attendee. Beyond that, I was initially very excited about Fathom's ability to auto-generate follow-up emails based on the transcript. However, I was very disillusioned with this when I saw the summaries it put together were just a sentence or two long, with a link to the Fathom recording. I think this leaves a LOT of potential on the table, and isn't currently useful or helpful as is. Switched from [Zoom Workplace](https://www.capterra.com/p/144037/Zoom-Video-Conferencing/) While I still run my meetings in Zoom, I no longer need to use Zoom's recording interface. President Medical Devices Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Game Changer for Zoom Meetings" December 19, 2023 5.0 With Fathom, I don't have to worry about taking notes. Even better, I don't have to go through gyrations to get my notes into my CRM. Before, I would either take notes mentally and then type notes into the CRM when the meeting was finished or I would take paper notes and then snap a picture of my notes and attach them to the customer record in the CRM. What happened in practice is that if I didn't type the notes immediately after the call, I'd forget half of what we talked about and if I had paper notes, I frequently (i.e. always) blew off scanning and attaching until I had 20 or more conversations that needed to be uploaded and it became a two-hour task to get it done. Not to mention that picture files are not searchable in any CRM so I had to count on my memory to locate most information. Fathom takes the notes for me, summarizes them and keeps a record of my video and the transcript. I now just go to the Fathom control panel after a call, click on the AI summary option and then click a single button to copy the summary. Then I just paste that summary into my CRM and I'm done. If I need to go back to that conversation, I can review the summary, which has bookmarked sections based on the subject we're discussing at various points in the call, so it's easy enough to identify which part of the conversation has what I'm looking for. Then I can scan the transcript or, when necessary, go back to the video and watch the actual conversation so I have all the context I'm looking for. As a bonus, Fathom also has a single button at the end of a meeting that will email all participants a copy of the video if I want. It's fantastic. Pros I love that it auto-launches when my Zoom meeting begins and that it displays a control panel so I can designate highlights and action items. My favorite feature is the AI summary of the conversation, which has a simple button to copy and I can then paste into my CRM, complete with reference points in the video that I can go directly to and watch if I need the whole context -- or I can read the complete transcript as well. The whole thing is awesome and I don't have to take any paper notes. Cons The trickiest part for me is that I present a lot of PowerPoint slides in presentation mode and the control panel does not work well in this environment. If I am presenting a slide show and I want to highlight a comment or tag an action item, the control panel disappears when I click and I lose the whole thing. I'm not even sure if it comes back after the presentation is over and I stop sharing my screen -- by then I've missed the moment.
