Having the notes, highlights, and video immediately is a game changer. Pros Fathom allows me, my teammates, and our partners to focus on the subjects at hand instead of the mechanics of meeting note-taking. Being free to keep my mind on the work has made meetings more productive, and our partners find the video recordings with recaps and highlights incredibly valuable. Cons Two improvements could make Fathom even better: First, a custom lexicon. Business is full of proprietary names, acronyms, and phrases that the AI can't yet understand. If I could enter a custom lexicon and then grow it to help the AI learn, that would make this tool even better. Second, branded environments. I own a brand development agency, so our vibe is important. Fathom's stock environmental branding is neutral and not distracting, but it would be better if I could practice what I preach when sending a recording recap. Pros Fathom has been a GAME CHANGER for my client meetings. The ability to not only have the recorded but when I go to review it's transcribed AND has a summary. Also, being able to highlight and mark action items during the meeting is beyond clutch. It has helped so much with clarity around tasks discussed during meetings. If you aren't using fathom, NOW is the time to get it and use it for the very next meeting you have. It's so simple to download and start using also. I connected it 10 minutes before a meeting and had time to spare before the meeting started. I use it in ever meeting now! Pros The tool just works exactly as described. It records and transcribes my calls effortlessly, and I love the automated recaps. I also love that I can effortlessly share recordings with clients - they appreciate that I "keep my word" because everything is documented with action items. Cons I strongly dislike that there is no multiple account feature. I have to toggle between my personal, my client account, and my agency account all day. I use it to record all my meetings with clients, and it's so simple to get a great recording and send the link to clients with one click after the meeting finishes. The webpage it creates for each meeting includes not only the recording, but so much information to make it easy to navigate through the recording to specific takeaways. I can click on any part of the transcript and jump straight there, or see an auto-generated list of every question asked in the meeting and jump to those moments in the video. During the meeting, I can highlight important moments, and they'll be marked in the transcript at the end. And if I forget to highlight something during the meeting, I can highlight anything I like in the recording and transcript. Using Fathom has eliminated so many minute admin steps of creating and sharing recordings, and it's made using those recordings so much easier and more pleasant. I can't imagine removing Fathom from my workflow. Cons When you share a recording, Fathom does NOT share your highlights or annotations. That has pros and cons—pros, in that I can highlight whatever I like with impunity, but a little inconvenient if I want to share my highlights with other viewers. That said, I've been discovering more tools within Fathom to make it possible/easier to share specific moments. So really, this isn't so much that the feature I'm looking for doesn't exist; it's more that I'm still in the learning curve of figuring out how to make the most of it. Review Source JT John T. The prompt that pops up before each meeting is super helpful. The interface is user-friendly especially compared to other similar apps I've tested. Fathom's customer service is eager to help. I use Fathom daily. Cons I haven't experienced any problems with Fathom so far. It allows both my client and I to fully engage without the worry of taking notes or missing anything for later review. It is extremely easy to join meetings and send the meeting summary right after the meeting ends. I absolutely love Fathom! Pros I can fully engage in my meetings without needing to take notes and it is the same for my client as I am able to easily send them both the notes and the recording that Fathom has taken. I love how you can copy and paste everything into a document, I love how the minute I end the meeting the notes have already been sent to my email, I love how it tracks your upcoming meetings and only takes a simple click of a buttom to have Fathom join, and I love how it links the important topics to the exact moment in the recording that it was mentioned. Cons I love everything about Fathom. However, what would be cool is if Fathom offered a feature that allowed you to, before you meeting, input the key points that you are going to talk about and want Fathom to make sure to include in the notes - just by giving it the headline to look for. When I need to send a video to someone I can very easily share the Fathom link rather than having to go through the faff of uploading the video to WeTransfer and sending it that way. I no longer have to take extensive notes during meetings and it helps me be more focused and present. People rarely object to being recorded when they can see that Fathom is a notetaker. It's an easy one-click button to send the recording to a participant if they've requested. Fathom deals with notifying people about the meeting recording in advance as well so it's much better for me from a privacy protection point of view. Pros It works so well, and very consistently. It makes note-taking during calls so much easier and the AI generated results are perfect for me to glance through and remind myself of key points. I love the fact I no longer have to use the Zoom recorder and fill up space on my cloud storage. It makes it amazingly easy to share videos as well. The automations behind the highlighting are excellent. So, so much value from a free product. I think it's great that it detects any issues with recordings and sends you an email to explain why it happens. Very proactive and I've not experienced that with any other tool I've used. Cons For some reason the Fathom module appears just off screen when it launches. I fully understand why the Fathom module needs to be on my screen during the call but it does tend to get in the way when I'm screen sharing, especially if there are a few highlights and notes already in place. Pros Fathom takes care of all our notetaking needs, and now starts itself up automatically, so I don't even need to remember to turn it on. Saves me lots of time, and the summaries are great! Folks see the notetaker and know they can assume it's all taken care of and will be available for reference as soon as the meeting ends. Cons No cons so far. I highly recommend it to anyone and it allows you to focus on the meeting and not worry about typing out your notes and intently listening! Pros It's easy and friendly to use, and after a couple of meetings, I was able to realise value. It generated the recording, summary and AI summaries within 3-4 minutes which is extremely fast. No longer do I have to wait for Zoom to generate the recording which took more than 40 mins! Cons The perspective of how the summaries are written. Although I save a lot of time, I still need to modify the wording when sharing notes with the customer or internally with my team. I love how fast AI behind call summaries is, and the accuracy of the notes is unbelievable. I am blown away how Fathom can easily understand next steps and write them down while real people on the calls sometimes cannot. Cons I spent few minutes thinking of something to put here, but honestly there isn't anything. If I have to put something here, I'd probably say the UI while Fathom is in the call. We use fathom for all meetings, as the ability to summarize meetings and provide action items has pushed us to use google meet in one off internal meetings where we may not have previously. The team at Fathom has also been incredibly responsive to feedback and contiunes to improve the product. Pros As a business coach and consultant I'm in a lot of Zoom meetings. They are the primary tool I use to interface with prospects, jv partners and clients. Fathom's Ai generated summaries are a total game changer. No more note taking, and no more re-watching meetings to make sure all of the critical information was captured. Clean, concise summaries that are easy to read, share and draw from make using Fathom a must. Everything is easy to find post recording as well with a clean interface on the user side. A must-have tool for anyone who utilizes meetings for work. Cons Before making your first group recording you need to toggle on a setting to make sure Fathom can recognoze you within the group before it can enable the recording. I wasn’t aware of this and lost a critical training that I assumed was being recorded. It's not a repeatable mistake, but when it happens the first time it's a shock. I may have missed the info about this when I first started using the tool so I'm not sure where the fault falls. Research participants show up to sessions having agreed to recordings and I can concentrate the precious time I have with them on learning from them, rather than doing admin and taking notes. April 18, 2024 5.0 Pros I love that Fathom captures not only the recording and transcript of the call - and very accurately at that - but it also captures all the highlights, topics touched on, and action items in the summary. This allows me to enjoy the call with my client/prospect without having my nose in my notebook scribbling as fast as I can. It's professional! It contacts the attendee ahead of time and asks for approval to have it on the call, and it offers them a copy. This is SO appreciated by my clients! Cons There is nothing I've found so far that I dislike about Fathom. I do wish it were a little less than $20/month, but it's hard to say that's not a fair price for the value received. Not only can the Zoom recording exist, but folks can even add a free transcript. Who doesn't love that? Pros Never again will I have to take notes -- I can keep eye contact and stay engaged in my meetings without worrying if I've missed something. Cons Sometimes I need to get the transcript of a pre-recorded video or audio. I can "share screen" and Fathom will sunnarize what it hears, but I have to login from a different account in addition to my main one or it won't make the recording. Apparently, if there aren't two connections, it doesn't think there is anything to record.
