Cons Honestly, I did not experience any feature or deficiency that I would complain about. Quickly transcribing the meeting without hanging up or making hallucinative errors, I summarize it by segmenting it for you. I can also provide the transcript file if you wish. Executive Coach Management Consulting Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "The Best Meeting Assistant I've Found" December 18, 2023 5.0 Pros My role these days is split between two primary responsibilities: Testing new AI technologies for my business, and meeting with coaching clients. I've tested dozens of AI tools over the last few weeks, and none have blown me away as quickly and consistently as Fathom. As a coach that's a part of a larger team, almost every one of Fathom's features feels like it was custom-built for me. The ability to easily capture action items, grab high-lights, and highlight successes completely streamlined my follow-up process. Beyond that, the auto-transcription is amongst the best I've used as well, even when transcribing speakers with different accents. I've also especially enjoyed Fathom's ability to turn transcripts into powerful and actionable summaries. Cons The only thing I don't love about Fathom, and I don't know that there's a way around this, is that it has to sit in on the Zoom call as a separate attendee. That feels a little clunky to me, and makes it something I need to explain to those I'm meeting with. I'd love if it just ran in the background without needing to join the call as an attendee. Beyond that, I was initially very excited about Fathom's ability to auto-generate follow-up emails based on the transcript. However, I was very disillusioned with this when I saw the summaries it put together were just a sentence or two long, with a link to the Fathom recording. I think this leaves a LOT of potential on the table, and isn't currently useful or helpful as is. President Medical Devices Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Game Changer for Zoom Meetings" December 19, 2023 5.0 With Fathom, I don't have to worry about taking notes. Even better, I don't have to go through gyrations to get my notes into my CRM. Before, I would either take notes mentally and then type notes into the CRM when the meeting was finished or I would take paper notes and then snap a picture of my notes and attach them to the customer record in the CRM. What happened in practice is that if I didn't type the notes immediately after the call, I'd forget half of what we talked about and if I had paper notes, I frequently (i.e. always) blew off scanning and attaching until I had 20 or more conversations that needed to be uploaded and it became a two-hour task to get it done. Not to mention that picture files are not searchable in any CRM so I had to count on my memory to locate most information. Fathom takes the notes for me, summarizes them and keeps a record of my video and the transcript. I now just go to the Fathom control panel after a call, click on the AI summary option and then click a single button to copy the summary. Then I just paste that summary into my CRM and I'm done. If I need to go back to that conversation, I can review the summary, which has bookmarked sections based on the subject we're discussing at various points in the call, so it's easy enough to identify which part of the conversation has what I'm looking for. Then I can scan the transcript or, when necessary, go back to the video and watch the actual conversation so I have all the context I'm looking for. As a bonus, Fathom also has a single button at the end of a meeting that will email all participants a copy of the video if I want. It's fantastic. Pros I love that it auto-launches when my Zoom meeting begins and that it displays a control panel so I can designate highlights and action items. My favorite feature is the AI summary of the conversation, which has a simple button to copy and I can then paste into my CRM, complete with reference points in the video that I can go directly to and watch if I need the whole context -- or I can read the complete transcript as well. The whole thing is awesome and I don't have to take any paper notes. Cons The trickiest part for me is that I present a lot of PowerPoint slides in presentation mode and the control panel does not work well in this environment. If I am presenting a slide show and I want to highlight a comment or tag an action item, the control panel disappears when I click and I lose the whole thing. I'm not even sure if it comes back after the presentation is over and I stop sharing my screen -- by then I've missed the moment. Support is fast to respond, the product is easy to use, and the service very reliable. No issues at all. Pros We use Fathom for sales followups and building out our repository of customer quotes for marketing. Previously, we were missing a ton of customer insights from trying to take notes during calls, or forgetting to record with other software products. It's so easy to use, affordable, and integrates seamlessly with Hubspot. It's a "can't go back living without" product. Cons Action items for our non-Hubspot users on calls are ending up in hubspot as tasks for the team member on Fathom who set up the call. We end up having to delete a few tasks every call because they aren't for our team. They are more like suggestion action items for our customers/prospects that are fine being only in the ai summaries. Also Fathom's free tier is insanely generous, which it was easy to try out. We ended up upgrading because the paid tier has better templates, action items, and we just discovered the email followups which are a big time saver as well. Previously followups were much slower to be written, didn't contain all the action items, and sometimes wouldn't get sent out at all. It provides a great overall summary with key points/takeaways which minimizes the time I need to use during meeting follow-up. Cons There's not much I don't like about Fathom but it does contribute certain parts of the conversation to the wrong attendee at times and also misspells words at times. I have the Mac app installed, which is easy to install and setup. I use Fathom with almost all my meetings. After the meeting is over you will almost immediately get an email with the full transcript, the recorded video with linked timestamps and multiple summary options. These options are amazing! Depending on the type of meeting (sales call, project kick-off), the summary will be presented in a very meaningful structure that you can use as a base for your next steps. The notes are also linked to timestamps in the original conversation so you can refer back to them for details. There are several options for exporting the conversation and summaries, including Notion, Google Docs, Asana, Gmail, Todoist and MS Word. It also creates a list of the questions that are asked by all attendees, which can be used for so many things. You can download the video if needed and send it to all attendees with a quick link. And when you view all meetings they each have a video thumbnail, which makes it so much easier to sort through. Support has always been top-notch. They answer quickly and are very helpful. Pros Fathom does so much more than just transcribe your meetings. It has a control panel that you can view like a sidebar during your meetings, so you can tell it that you want to "highlight" what you are talking about or mark it as an "action item". With these options, you truely don't have to worry about taking notes and you can focus on the conversation. Cons Perhaps if the action items could have title for you instead of having to type them in while on the meeting, that would be helful. If there's anything else I wish something had or needs fixing, support is always available and listens to feedback. Any feature that I've asked about ended up being added (being able to download videos, download snippets, etc.) – the team is a step ahead about making the user experience great. The notetaker has made my life so much easier during sales demos where I can focus on the conversation and not have to worry about manually taking notes. I also love the seamless HubSpot integration - if I mention that I need to do a task on a call, Fathom will automatically create a Task for me on HubSpot so that I won't forget what to do. Also like that Fathom automatically creates a link to the Fathom video on a prospects Contact page in HubSpot. Pros I've been using Fathom for the last two years, and it's such a helpful tool to record sales calls. It does all the work for me, and I no longer need to type down notes and can genuinely focus on the conversation. I have the worst memory, so I truly appreciate the full text transcript and AI Summary features for when I need to look back on calls when I'm doing follow-ups. I'm able to be more present in meetings as a result. Additionally, keeping tabs on how much I'm talking vs the other person in the meeting is so valuable! The new notes feature where you can change the format of the notes entirely with a click of the button (change templates) is outstanding. And the Zapier integration is great. I have a zap set to send each action item to my to do list in Clickup (my task management system). Cons I know the company is working hard on stability. There have been a couple times I had notes fail so i always have a backup going (otter). I look forward to the day when i know that's not needed. It has really changed the power of my own sales, as well as enabled me to take dives into each agent and figure out what may or may not have gone well in a call. Quick and precise summaries post-meeting. Easy to use functions. No manual input is required. Pros Fathom is one of my favourite sidekicks for all of my Zoom meetings. Effortuiously recorded meetings created quick and easy-to-digest summaries and allowed me to share recordings with clients in one click. It seems so obvious, and yet it's so brilliant. Fathom has paid features, but unlike some software, it doesn't feel the need to impose them if you exceed any features. Fathom has been shared with every one of my colleagues in the office, and I've shared it multiple times on Linkedin as a must-have extension for Zoom & Online Meetings. Plus it takes less than 2mins to add and begin using. I've had one interaction with the support staff so far, mostly because the software works so well 99% of the time. The one instance that something went wrong, the team was there to explain the best way forward and offer daily updates on the progress. This is a product I generally use Daily, and looking back to when I didn't use Fathom, it seems like a distant memory now. Cons I've had one recording record with sound and visual issues. The Fathom team spent over a week trying to recover and fix the problem but was unable to fix it. I will note that the recording in question was over 2 hours long and had 10+ people in the Zoom call. Cons The app sometimes doesn't load automatically as it should and has to be called to open through the "apps" button in the Zoom window. The free version will get you 90% of the way there if you want to try it out. The greatest benefit of the Premium version for us is the templated summaries and the AI generated action items. We upgraded multiple teammates who are more client-facing to the premium version while a few of us could maintain the free version no problem. We've loved it! Pros Fathom is so intuitive. beyond helpful, and easy to use. It jumps right in to your meetings, was seamless to implement, follows along with minimal error, allows you to highlight important aspects of the meeting, easily integrates into the meeting platform you're already using, has incredible customer support (who were proactive might I add in resolving MOST of my potential issues before they even occurred), and allows me to be fully engaged in my meeting instead of worrying about taking notes and tracking action items. I have started using it for every meeting, even quick internal ones, because of how helpful the tracking and summaries are. Highly recommend! Cons I don't love that there is a whole separate user added to your video meetings. It would also be helpful if the platform proactively assisted in cleaning up the summaries, whether it's spelling errors it guessed on or items it didn't completely follow. March 8, 2024 5.0 Mind. Blown. Wish I had this a long time ago. It has been so easy to setup and use it actually made meetings fun again! Pros It takes perfect notes. Action items. Allows you to make unlimited custom tags that know to rewind to where that part of the conversation started to highlight it which turns into quick links later that you can send to others who only need that piece. Cons Would be an amazing addition to support more than one calendar. For me I have multiple companies and most calendars are active. I can forward the meeting to the email fathom is logged in as for a work around. It was super easy for our whole organization to implement and use. Our team is spread out throughout the US and mostly remote, so having this for internal meetings has been a lifesaver. I love that not only does it summarize, but it will also provide a transcript that you can search for and provide a recording. It saves all recordings for you, and it's easy to send them to teammates. Its accuracy on the summarization is insane! It doesn't just write down what you said word for word; it summarizes in complete sentences, provides action items, etc. It truly blew my team away. It also aligns with your Outlook calendar and will update you when future meetings arise. We use it for most of our online meetings. Cons My only issue with Fathom is that sometimes it gets a little glitchy with Zoom calls. Or if I log onto a meeting that I dont want recorded it can take some time to remove it from the meeting. I highly recommend it to everyone! Pros I first started using Fathom six months ago when I had rotator cuff surgery and was in a sling for 6 weeks and unable to type. I run several meetings a week, I work with online business owners to grow and scale their online businesses and I also do coaching and consulting. I say that to explain that in ALL the meetings I run, I take MANY notes. Not being able to type had me worried so I found and tried out Fathom a couple weeks prior to my surgery and I fell in love with it! I no longer have to manually make notes of to-do items or key points to follow up on. It was also so easy to use, and the learning curve was small, so anyone who is tech-challenged can use this! I learned it very fast, and here I am seven months later, using it for every meeting I have. I can now be more present in meetings since I am not manually capturing so much information. One feature I love is the transcript and how I can search based on keywords. I find myself doing this weekly, and it is amazing for me. So it's also saving me time after meetings, whereas before, I'd have to take time rewatching parts of a recording, and time is money! Out of all the software I use (and I have used a lot in my 10+ years in online business) this is one of the top tools I now recommend to anyone! One of the best apps that I use constantly and share as well.... Pros Most helpful is the fact I no longer have to take notes, the notes from Fathom come in less than a minute, I can share with the person I was on the Zoom with and they are impressed with how quickly they get the info. I love how concise the notes are as well, seamless integration with Zoom. As a business person this is an exception tool to have so you really get the opportunity to be in the moment with no distractions knowing all the important info will be captured.. They create a "zoom call" but it's prerecorded and you can test the functionalities while you're "on" a zoom call. Extremely well thought out. And I'm now spending much less time in call management Cons Tiny niggles: 1) I keep getting reminded how much I'm talking which is frankly sth I don't care about but I haven't figured out how to turn it off. 2) once I kicked out fathom out of a zoom call in one instance, I wanted to invite it back in but didn't know how. March 15, 2024 5.0 I don't know what I'd do if I was asked to stop using it. It's the first AI use case I don't think I can live without! This tool truly does it all, and is SO EASY to set up. Can't advocate for it enough! Pros The time savings alone is monumental - I'm getting HOURS of time per week back that I would have been spending on meeting summaries, documentation, action item capture, etc. It's like having a personal secretary and project manager all in one. Cons There was one small hiccup in getting our company VPN to play nicely with Fathom, but the Fathom team was incredible responsive and helpful in helping us resolve that. Pros the AI-generated summaries! they're really well done, and super helpful for both follow up for prospects, and for reviewing and improving future calls. I wish I would have gotten this tool sooner! Cons Not much. It's not a perfect product but their support is actually pro-active (they reached out to ME first when my Fathom notetaker had been kicked from a meeting - nice work Fathom support!)
