As someone who manages a university phonathon, VanillaSoft has been incredibly effective for running a high-volume calling program. The queue-based dialing system keeps callers moving efficiently between prospects and eliminates downtime, which helps maintain strong dial rates throughout shifts. The scripting tools are also very helpful for training student callers and ensuring consistent messaging across the team. I particularly appreciate the reporting and analytics features, which allow me to track key metrics like dials per hour, contact rates, and pledges. This makes coaching callers and managing performance much easier. Overall, it’s a reliable system for organizing donor outreach and keeping a student call center running smoothly.

Cons

While the functionality is strong, the interface can feel somewhat dated and takes a little time for new callers to learn. Some administrative features, like list management and workflow customization, could be more intuitive. That said, once the system is set up, it works very well for structured calling programs.

### "Rudimentary At Best."

The learning curve of to this program is that you need to memorize the ways that its bad so that you can work around the issue before it even presents itself. I should have to copy every email before I send it, in fear that the whole system is going to crash out the second I hit send. I'm honestly not the hugest fan of the program. It's very much not a user friendly platform in a lot of ways including the fact that literally everything HAS to be resulted to be moved/we cannot just drag and drop it. It's also incredibly inconvenient that your text platform is basically useless in most ways.

Pros

If I'm being honest, I don't really like anything about Vanilla Soft. Every single aspect of it is rudimentary at best.

Cons

If I have multiple people texting me, when a new message comes in, the other message fully disappears and if I'm not paying attention, my message is now being sent to someone that it has NOTHING to do with. We cannot receive photos. The phones and they're ability to call and it go through is a mess 9 times out of 10. If you email someone with another person cc'ed and one of the emails is wrong/bounces... NOW YOU CAN'T EMAIL EITHER OF THEM without getting Vanilla Soft involved. All of the improvements that have been rolled out have actually made pretty much EVERYTHING significantly WORSE.

the whole program its easy to use, I love the auto dialing feature, and support team act fast every time you need something, this its important for any CRM

Cons

the interface looks kinda old school, would love having a modern look for this software, and the fact that can't read SMS from more than 7 days ago, we should have access to all our SMS, so we can track better our leads

Pros

All of the features of VanillaSoft. The customer support. The ability to email and create your own emails.

Cons

The cost! The tracking isn't always correct, and the amount of time on the phone calls are never correct.

It is very hit or miss. Sometimes things work as they're supposed to, sometimes the emails fail to send or the phones stop working and then I'm stuck not being able to work.

Pros

It organizes leads well by different types of groups so similar groups can be grouped together under one filter.

Cons

There are a lot of features that are very basic. For example, there is no way to text the second contact. You also can't use emojis, can't send or receive photos in texts, and can't preview email responses.

I like how contacts are randomized! With other CRMs/dialers, I find that my contacts are dialed in the exact same order every day, which doesn’t allow me to easily randomize the time each lead is called or texted.

Inability to sort my contacts by tags. Tags were newly implemented so maybe it will be a change soon!

6/10- pretty satisfied. CONS are a big thing for me. It's simple to use but I wish the messages layout was more convenient to pick up from when in the My sms tab

Vanilla Soft offers 1,000 messages per month with a monthly subscription. The dispositions are pretty straight forward and easy to use.

Cons

I dislike that we have to wait 15 seconds before we can disposition a lead and dial a new lead. Also I dont like the way the messages are categorized. I wish they all appreared and stayed there longer than a week.

it's okay, visual appeal is good. could be optimized better. we need better after hours support for locked out accounts.

Pros

visual ease looking at the leads, history needs to be elongated, search bar could be improved: the 1 in front of a phone number needs to be removed to look up a phone number

Cons

lack of tech support on Sundays (and after hours) - if you get locked out of your account, you just have to wait until they get back into the office. CRM - difficult to use - have to jump back and forth to go down the list while making one off calls. Doesn't hold your position.

Some support staff weren't able to help. I was disappointed when issues were blamed on my computer specs and took my computer in to be evaluated and found that not to be the case.
