I have been using Allscripts EHR in my cardiology practice since 2000. We are currently on version 8.2 with an update to version 9.3 scheduled in 2 weeks. Four providers are currently on the system. It is soon to be expanded to the remainder of a merged practice, with a total of 21 providers, who will then be on the EHR. It has been a very stable product and is quite easy to use for documenting visits. I am able to complete documenting a visit and am able to generate referral letters on most patients before they leave the office. Electronic prescribing is very easy. We have exam and history templates to cover most of the common types of visits for both new and established patients. We have templates for reporting tests, generating letters to patients, and referring providers. These can be developed in the office without needing support from Allscripts. I do not have experience with the meaningful use tools yet, and need some training before I will feel comfortable with the reporting capabilities. We are able to train new staff to use the EHR quite rapidly. Customer support, when needed, has been satisfactory.

Pros

the product has been around for quite awhile and when used as it was meant to be used, it works well. Need additional education on reports etc.

Cons

how long it takes to receive an answer back; not always timely. We did have an on-site visit and did ask some questions regarding the template for IDT and have not received the requested information. This meeting at least three months ago.

### "Amazing Program to Boost Your Success"

Pros

This product is so easy to use. It has an electronic prescribing function and saves our printer and physicians from taking the time to manually write or type out scripts.

Cons

There are occasional glitches when trying to put in medications and it takes around 30 seconds to find one medication. This can be frustrating sometimes if you have a lot of medications to put in.

Pros

I do like how the Dr's can send test and scripts through out the system, you can see all the notes. you can send off Xrays script as well

Cons

It's not that user friendly, little hard to understand, and gets confusing, the Doctors where also have a difficult time adjusting to it as well.

Pros

The product is very robust. There are many good features with the product. It is a stable product. We've not experienced any major issues or problems when upgrading to newer versions. Product is fairly user friendly.

Cons

At this time I would have to say it is support. Not all of the support is lacking, it depends on the module in which you are needing support. Support seems to be broken down by teams. One of the teams seems to be weaker than the rest. I currently have a support call that has been open since November. I've tried several different avenues of getting this problem resolved but still have not had success. There seems to be no easy way to get to management to report these issues either. I think perhaps it may be growing pains. I've worked with Allscripts since 2007. It didn't used to be this way. It seems as though since their phone system has become more automated and support has expanded to include staff outside of the country the quality is lacking.

Pros

Easy to access within many different EMR systems, secure with multiple steps to ensure no one but the doctor is prescribing, quick sending to pharmacy.

Cons

Somewhat unreliable, can occasionally not send scripts when ordered but this does not happen often. Takes a bit of training to get used to.

Allscripts makes the referral process a whole lot easier. It betters the communication between the doctors in the back to the support staff upfront

Cons

I wish it didn't glitch or freeze as often as it does. Once it freezes I have to sign out and sign back in to continue what I was doing.

I would not recommend this product.

Cons

Constantly get errors and system down time. Some of the diagnoses descriptions do not match the ICD-10 book. We recently had an EHR upgrade and the following day after the upgrade, out system was down. Found out that the did not test before initiating the upgrade to clients.

I am with the writer who stated that Allscript (myway version) is only user friendly to the PCP. The notes are horrible and items populate into sections that u did not choose. The pt history does not come over to the progress note. So there is no credit give to this unless you type. I am soooo very behind due to it has slowed me down soooo much. The transcriptions gave more information about the office visit than this EMR. I find the information is inaccurate and we have to add too much. The tech support is a joke. They sent someone out here three times to figure out why our scanner was not connecting to the computer. They rewired things spent days and one day I sighned onto the desinated computer for scanning. Just as Allscripts personal had done and guess what? A pop up box came up and stated, you need to refresh your scanner. I went there, hit refresh and it worked! Really, no one saw that before now one week later. This whole system is awful. Training. That is not good either.

I am a member of multi specialty group with more than 100 physicians that started using Allscript at 2010. Reading the reviews of my colleagues who gave more than 2 star to any function of Allscript, I am very curious to contact them to make sure that they are using the same software. In summary:1- Allscript is designed for dealing with very low complex problems that there is no need to type any impression/plan and carry over any part it for the future note. Example : impression: cough, Plan : Benadryl. If you are planning to prepare a more complex note than this, forget about Allscript. 2- Forget about customer service. I am getting the same impression as my colleagues that the company put all of their resources in sale and nothing in customer service and development. 3-At worst I am worried about the legal liabilities. when preparing a note in many occasions statements and impression from notes from other colleagues appears in my final note which is very concerning.

Its fairly straightforward and gets the job done. Interface is a bit sparse, but presents the information on patients in an easily readable manner.

Cons

UI seems a bit dated at this point. Could use an upgrade in this area.

Cons

support is in India and there is no accountability for bad advise, the management is hard to deal with unless you email the CEO

I really do not like the product because it seems so antiquated. I feel that Allscripts does have the updated CMS changes needed.

Cons

It does not seem intuitive and requires the user to go through many screens to accomplish documentation of a visit or assessment.

Pros

I can accomplish the job. There is not much more I can comment on as I have used this EMR. I have used EPIC, Help 2, iCentra and others in the past too.

Cons

The system closes at 9 PM - our customers may still be checking in late and we are abruptly interrupted and cannot check them into the system. Too much clicking - many functions do not work or fill in. Many templates do not allow for flexibility with constant billing problems when used. The system goes down fairly consistently on Saturdays from Friday night functions

All scripts takes advantage of doctors by getting them on 5 year contract and not giving the support to get the work done. Sending invoices which are not related and not having the professionalism to say sorry and correct the mistake. Fragmented service ie sending to different departments then taking care of the issue. I would be surprised if this EMR will make in in next 10 years. Those who have it review your contracts and find options.

It is Electronic Medical Record

Cons

It will a short term EMR as you will get a new one or retire prematurely due to frustation of dealing with it

Awful! The server is constantly down. The customer service takes 3-4 hours to resolve complaints. The representative they assigned to help us because of our constant issues does not return texts or phone calls. There are constant errors once inside the software (that is once in a blue moon when you could actually sign in). The fees continue at monumental cost once the software is paid off. I'm hiring an attorney. Did I mention it is awful?

Pros

It allows you to integrate faxes from outside sources. That's about it.

Cons

See above review. Don't waste your money or your sanity!
