Pros The fact that you can revert almost every thing in the tool is amazing. This means that as a project manager, you can save a lot of times recreating projects just because you need to update the files, information or any other thing. Cons In order to work with Excel files with character limitation, there is a massive con that implies a lot of heavy file-handling to set up the projects making them not really effective. Pros Memsource does pretty much everything I would expect from a CAT tool. Support is super reactive when we have any questions. We are using it on a daily basis, we couldn't live without Memsource. Cons We had some struggle to use the Machine Translation feature at the beginning. But we had a meeting with Memsource, and everything was crystal clear afterwards (again, great support). Pros Collaboration and updates on the fly for both PMs and translators Cons When you have a multilingual project and you are about to upload your source document for translation, you don't have an option to unselect all languages. This means that if you have different sources for different languages you have to manually unselect the languages you don't want to translate for that specific document, instead of clicking 'unselect all' and then select only the language of choice. The interface is clean and easy to use compared to Trados. Cons The QA feature picks up a lot of irrelevant points that can be annoying to go through manually. February 20, 2018 5.0 Pros \- Communication features: you can tag people from the team in the comments; comments to the strings are visible for all the team members and stored at one place. - Context tab and briefing: at any time a full brief to the job can be accessed and every string has a separate field for screenshot and descriptions. - History tab: all the versions of the text are stored in a separate tab and can be restored at any time. - Translation memory, that works across all the projects. - Works with different types of content: you can "feed" it strings, apps and web content, e-mails, social media publications, etc. - Character count and character limit feature. - Newsletter with the product updates and guides. Cons \- It seems you can search for stuff only within one project/platform, not across all the projects. - Extremely difficult to navigate the website on mobile devices, as it's not adapted for mobile use. It's a simple solution that works great for small and medium sized translation and localization projects. Pros Ease of use is by far the biggest benefit of Memsource compared with other tools. It's not overloaded with unnecessary features and makes my job quite straightforward. Cons They really need to focus on collaborative features as we often work in a team with other translators and we have to see comments left by other people to avoid asking same questions to our project managers or clients. Would be great to see a commenting feature that would allow all project participants see each other comments on each particular string. Pros Fijn in het gebruik en het werkt met vele bestandsformaten Cons Plots ging mijn driemaandelijkse bedrag van 66 EUR naar 250 EUR zonder enig bericht. Het bedrag werd simpelweg afgehouden. Inmiddels ben ik meer dan 3 weken over en weer aan het mailen om een terugbetaling te krijgen. In plaats daarvan krijg ik als antwoord enkel help-artikelen. Ik kan het abonnement niet stopzetten, ik krijg geen refund en ik krijg simpelweg geen mens te spreken. Je kan op de site alleen een afspraak inboeken voor een demo. Daar houdt het op. Pros Works really fast - faster than all the other web CATs. Convenient hot keys for adding glossary terms and so on. Displays progress in words - very important. Nice and user-friendly interface in general. Cons TXML files are not supported - the most important thing that prevents me from using this CAT as my primary CAT. Has no option to create accounts for my clients inside my agency/freelance account. Paid version is pretty expensive. If you are looking for a good solution to manage multiple applications translation in one place. If you are looking for a translation tool that can be managed not only by your developers' team. If you are looking for a solution where there are multiple users managing the translation of your applications and you would like to avoid translation collision. Pros The UI is really simple to use and the API has good documentation which makes the integration with our services easy. You can set up multiple projects and languages. They also have integration with other services like Github, Gitlab,... Also, translations are not handled only by developers but they can be shared across different sectors of the company. Multiple projects can make use of the same translation database. Cons I don't dislike it, but I would like to see a way to merge or associate a duplicate key. In a big project, it is quite easy to have duplicate values with different key names. And will be cool to have a group mechanism, so in case you update one value of one language, it will reflect in other keys too. Every person involved in the project profits from this tool: - The devs are able to easily create new keys and at stub translations. - The management is able to correct mistakes without code changes required. - The stakeholder himself can use PhraseApp to customise the strings further as he sees fit witouht the devs having to take an action. - Always up to date translations using our ci or by performing one terminal command. Cons I currently don‘t see anything too bad with this service. But maybe a feature request: A PhraseApp SDK that allows for changing localisation even after deploying? We are currently using this to manage all our translations. Pros This one blew my mind lately, We started adding support for other languages, and files and languages became so hard to manage, with Phrase it was so easy to set up and isolate the translation work from engineering. With Phrase you can hire translators who don't need to know about your codebase, they can do all translations needed, and once done the changes can be synchronized back to your code hosting platform, it supports Bitbucket, Gitlab and Github. The greatest feature of them all is the In-Context editor, this one allows you to edit your translation in realtme, You can open your app and edit the translation keys exactly where they are being used. Cons The documentation misses a few things that could be improved and made clearer and parts of it are out of date for somethings that have been deprecated but yet still showing in the documentation. I use this as an independent vendor, so I'm not sure whether the pricing is fair (as I use the agencies' licenses), but this is by far much better than a few other web-based CAT tools. Pros The integrated spellchecker and QA are great to streamline the process. The QA interface is slightly cumbersome, but I really don't have any ideas on how to improve it. The software's interface is generally very practical and user-friendly. The ability to export xliff and .doc bilingual tables is useful. Cons The termbase management could be improved. When using the search function, sometimes the focus goes haywire and you end up typing in a segment when you wanted to type in the search box. Can Memsource export files in all source formats? Pros The software is not only easy to use, but also has small features and details that seem not to be important but in fact are very helpful, for example, its glossary automatically suggests the right term after you type the first letter in the box.
