Apart from a professional and well-designed interface, all its features were designed from the point of view of the linguist/translator. I find the interface very intuitive and the software offers all the features and functionalities a translator need. I also like that there is a desktop version. Exporting bilingual MXLIFF and Word files is as easy as it should be - yet some other tools on the market don't offer the functionality! Cons As with some CAT tool, the QA tool often shows a lot of false positives (I personally run QA with Xbench). Sometimes a bit slow on larger files. Pros It contains the major Machine Translations. This is the best feature. They can be activated or inactivated. Cons As a freelance translator, I use it individually and also for a company. In the company's account, it should have such a feature in which I can integrate my own Machine Translation's API key with Memsource and I can use it in my translation where the company doesn't provide any Machine Translation. This feature is included in MemoQ. It is an easy-to-use program and allows you to manage numerous projects without any problems or confusion. Cons It took me a while to learn how to use the program. Definitely, the help center is very useful, but you have to experiment day by day to be able to discover all the features. Wish to see offline capability. Pros Works without glitches. Doesn't load PC. Easy to use. Cons Requires Internet connection. Almost no offline capability. February 14, 2018 5.0 Pros Once we started using PhraseApp , translating to several languages became very easy. Before it was a big burden on our developers, with lots of iterations to get just the right translation - all wasting valuable time from the developers. Today, we don't need developers adding the translations, but anyone can do it. This way developers can focus on code and not translations. The site is very easy to use for non developers/ non technical people. It's saves us a lot of time and hassle. The customer service is also excellent - very helpful and responsive. I'd recommend it to anyone. I appreciate the dashboards too and the analysis of the translated texts to look for full/fuzzy matches. Looking forward to learning more advanced functionalities. Pros Creating a workflow and integrating Memsource to our current ways of working was extremely easy thanks to the many formats that work well with Memsource. I like the intuitive interface of the editor, and how easy it is to update/upload/edit new TM and terms in the TB. Cons I can't think of any negatives at the moment, but it'd be nice to expand on the formats that the software can read to the point of including some design/UX/UI features that allow to translate complex web pages and see what they'll look like in the editor itself. It has helped us to quickly localize content in all markets where our product is available and new target markets. Pros Everyone being able to collaborate and fell the progress while translating our products. Also makes very easy to share responsibilities between owners and stakeholders. It also has great and easy integrations, a powerful CLI and an even better API making it an easy choice for any developer. Cons The only thing I dislike is that there is some very useful features that are implemented but are only for "internal" use meaning that you can not use them via CLI/API. An example to that is the comparison of branches. Reason for choosing Phrase If you are still considering something else other than PhraseApp compare the integrations, API and CLI. It has been my preferred tool since I started working with it, as it saves me time, and allows me to work from anywhere I am. Pros For a Freelancer, Memsource is a great option thanks to its friendly interface, easy to use tools, and integration with other software. Export options to work offline are a breeze to use. Cons The only thing I'd like to have is the possibility of customize my own color codes for the interface, as well as for the matches. However that doesn't affect the performance at all. It is very easy to use so that new translators do not need to be trained, they can simply start translating. With the smart integration of asking for the verification of translations, translators can proof-read each others' translations without missing anything. It also allows you to export/import which makes it possible to search and replace certain phrases easily if needed. These are the best features Memsource can offer and which contribute to a pleasent user experience. Cons There is still some margin of improvement, especially in the field of TM&TB management. These are minor issues, which only become relevant in large-scale implementations. It is very instrumental in familiarizing the students with the functionality of professional CAT-tools and simulating real-life workflow processes (analysis, translation, editing, quality assurance and check, term base and translation memory management, etc). Importantly, it allows students to test themselves and gain expertise in different professional roles – linguists and project managers. The fact that the Memsource editor comes in two versions – for desktop and for web – is a big plus. I would also like to particularly mention the recent improvements in the interface for creating the project regarding adding translation memories and term bases, which has become more user-friendly, in my view. Possibility of creating your own dictionaries and their future use is also of great benefit. I have never used similar software before so it came to me as a great discovery! Cons To my mind, the fact that other users are made inactive the moment they complete each task is not the best solution. Precisely speaking, after completing the task they cannot download the complete version. They need to remember that after clicking complete they are unable to do anything with the text. It's easy to operate and is a great online software for translation and localization. Vendors can log in using any browser and do not need to purchase any software themselves. Running an analysis is quick and easy. Whether you're familiar with other CAT tools or not, Memsource is easy to learn and navigate. Pros It is great for big translation projects since project manager can review all jobs from memsource hub. Also for translators it is very simple and basic to use and understand. What I like most about this software is ability to translate online through their web software. Cons Machine translation is not as good as google translate I think they should add more machine translation options. Also it is not very compatible with pdf files.
