We highly recommend it, especially for smaller companies without dedicated DevOps teams. Pros Cronitor is almost effortless to deploy, and its flexible API and integrations make it a good fit for a wide range of use cases. When it comes to software automation, "trust, but verify", and Cronitor makes verification easy. Cons Cronitor does lack a few features that would be nice to have. For example, it would be useful if monitors could be configured to monitor resource utilization during job execution (e.g. CPU and memory) and alert if they exceed a threshold. Startup CTO during day time, but posting it as a home user Computer Software Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "It just works for the home made backups to remote service" November 17, 2022 5.0 Just works for my home backup scripts - it's great and I can be sure my automation is functional and these checks are free!It's a pity that expansion of cronitor to more-more-more features makes it less focused on monitoring cron tasks (web UI has much more stuff), but I guess it's expected. Pros I created a small script that backs up my own notes (a pretty large set of markdown files) to a remote server via SCP every hour. I love it that cronitor alerts me only script fails for a couple of days: script is running on the laptop, so it is very normal for it not to work when laptop is closed for the night! Cons Crontab isn't something I work with very often, sometimes I even forget that hourly backups are running at all (as I set up a year ago and it just works), so it would be cool if:1. Sometimes cronitor reminded me of which monitors I actually have working :) Maybe a notification email every couple of months in style of Google Maps "here are BTW people who are you still sharing your location with" or as a part of your news emails?2. And for the same reason it would be cool if in cronitor pages somewhere it could tell which command line it runs and where/how to edit it (I know it's in \`crontab -e\`, but I use it once a year, so tend to forget) Review Source ML Matthew L. Their system is easy to use, and quite powerful. Pros We use Cronitor mainly for monitoring of scheduled tasks, processes etc. The setup is easy, the alerts are on time and actionable, and their support is quick and effective. Cons There is no support for exceptions in scheduled (e.g. every day at 9am except for weekends), and the alternative of using the CRON schedule is too sensitive. Additionally we use this to monitor human processes which are not \*exactly\* at the schedule time. It would be great not to be alerted when a task is completed early, but its important to know if it is late. Review Source DV Dharmendra V. This is an extremely valuable feature, as it can save you a lot of time and money by alerting you of any problems as soon as they occur. Cons There is not much to dislike about Cronitor. It is a very effective tool that does exactly what it promises. Maybe the fact that it is paid premium and subscription based. I'd like more services to move back to buy-once kind of deal.
