### "Great inspection software tool."

Before agreeing to employment with Flyhomes LLC I used this program for my personal inspection business since 2011. I feel that it is a great tool for inspecting and would highly recommend incoming inspectors to this business jump on board.

Pros

I have a team of 5 inspectors that use the software. It is easy to teach to new inspectors for both manipulation of the program and use.

Cons

Our company is located in Seattle. I would like to be able to reach tech support by phone beyond 5 pm EST. There are some software glitches that need correction. Occasionally the program informs us that our subscription has expired there is a work around, but I have a CC on file and this is never true. Creating a mobile version where inspections could be completed and sent from a cellular device would also be beneficial.

### "Mostly Satisfied User, but with Wishes"

I'm happy with how comprehensive the HG software is, but find it a bit cumbersome and time consuming to navigate and use. It still has a technical feel rather than a user feel. I have had to develop my own work-around's in order to get the end results that I need for my reports. The software could be much more user friendly and eloquent and time efficient. The HG Companion software has those issues too. Because of the time HG requires to refine my reports I have found myself looking at other options so I can hope to have a life rather than spending entire evenings writing reports.

Pros

I like how comprehensive the HG software is. The developers have done a good job covering a vast majority of the concerns and needs of home inspector users.

Cons

The length of time it takes to edit and refine reports after performing an inspection with the HG Companion software on my iPhone. After doing an inspection that takes 3 or more hours, I must spend almost an equal amount of time refining the report on my PC before I can be confident enough to send the report to my clients as an end product. My biggest wish would be to greatly reduce the time it takes to complete a report in HG.

The ease of access and use make my job so much easier and the constant upgrades and user friendly flow of the software delights the agents I work with and clients. Makes even an average Joe like me look professional.

Pros

Ease of use and Technical support. The pictures on the fly and auto comments make the experience with my client more informative . I have time to explain what is going on and can still give a detailed comment and pictures to the report . If there is a problem with the software or I'm having trouble with the software I have always been able to contact tech support and found that every time the problem was easily solved and that most times it wasn't the software but the user .

Cons

I thought long and hard and just could not find anything that disappointed me or I disliked.

Missing something in an inspection is difficult with the software notification when something is not filled out.

Pros

If your looking for a high quality report HomeGauge has the tools to do it. Very configurable to adapt to your methods and stile of inspection. Great customer interface!

Cons

It’s not simple to set up especially if you have a specific idea of what you what your end product to look like. There seems to be a few bugs although to be fair it may be the operator.

Using HomeGauge to produce our reports, has been essential to our company's success. I could not imagine a better software being on the market (I do not know, we were hooked from the free trial over 6 years ago). Being able to adjust the templates, to best suit the inspection we are performing and the report we are producing, is great. The software helps to provide us peace of mind, knowing that if we are doing our job going through the home and following our templates, it is extremely difficult to miss something of significance.

Pros

The thouroughness of software, and being able to adjust the individual templates to best suit the inspection we are performing. The report presentation is impeccable.

Cons

I have no overall complaints about HomeGauge. There have been minor glitches, a couple times over 6+ years, that customer service quickly worked out.

### "Great product & support service"

Probably the biggest plus about Home Gauge was the support service. When I first bought it I attended a couple of the free training classes offered. There were a few times when I ran into a problem especially with the Companion or something on my computer, but when I called Home Gauge they were able to get the problem solved so I could finish my report & get it onto my customer.

Pros

It is very versatile & can be easily edited. I don't think there was a home inspection that I did that I didn't edit or tweak the program a little bit to customize it for that particular inspection. I loved it.

Cons

One thing I did not like was when I copied the report from one computer to another, the date & time changed. The original date & time was changed to the current system date & time even though no change was made to the report.

Have been very happy with the quality and speed of customer support!

Pros

Ability customize the templates is the best aspect, following by allowing for a lot of information to be entered quickly while onsite at an inspection.

Cons

Leak of ease in customizing notifications about when a client as signed a service agreement or paid online...I know this information can be sent to an administrator, but us little end users need this information too and our admin cannot find a way to share this with us. I would love to see more development of the HomeGauge cell phone app...currently it is pointless for how we run our business, if that app could allow us to see who has paid online and/or take a phone signature via the app that would be AMAZING!

The ability to create a customer record, select the services required and produce your list of billables and total sale certainly saves time. Then to have the contract be generated, a notice of customer acceptance and a linked inspection process right down to CRM for after sale is nothing more than powerful!

Pros

The process is consistant yet scalable, full customization is possible as you learn the application.

Cons

The Unanswered Question feature really doesnt give you a clear idea of the required entry missing.

Reason for choosing HomeGauge

The NRVIA recommendation was the start, the information on RVIP sounds like it still is created and supported in somebody's garage. Been there, done that, not going there again. HomeGauge has support I can rely on.

I'm able to efficiently draft reports which frees time to schedule more inspections. A win win!

Pros

Software enables me to efficiently write reports in a FRACTION of the time I used to spend with other software products. Technical support, though rarely necessary, is excellent. Scheduling, notification emails, report delivery, user interface all top notch and simple to implement. Videos and 360 degree photography a great plus too. Honestly I couldn't be happier.

Cons

I really don't have any gripes with the software. I would recommend increasing the number of reports allowed into the cloud from 5 to 10.

Overall the software and support teams are good and will respond to your calls quickly.

Pros

The software is user friendly and makes for a good clean inspection report.

Cons

There are a couple of issues in the software that are redundant, such as deleting an item and getting asked again if you want to delete it, this takes extra time when deleting several line items or a category.

I left one of, if not, the largest home inspection companies two plus years ago. I purchases the software and support packages from HomeGauge, worth every penny. They really did help make my transition from previous company very smooth.

Pros

The custom features available coupled with great support from the company.

Cons

The custom features of software are amazing but a little overwhelming at first. However, It was just a quick call to HomeGauge for support. They even took control of my computer once to show how easy it really is to make desired changes. It is like getting a new phone or computer and you over think steps necessary to complete your task... Don't be afraid to break it, they will happily fix...

Overall my experience has been very good & I'm happy with going with HomeGauge. I was primarily looking for a way to write better reports faster. HG does that and much more. I've only been using it about a month and trying to get familiar with one aspect at a time. There is a lot of functionality that I haven't gotten into yet but plan to over time, especially managing appts. It took me a while, and quite a few phone calls to support, but I am getting used to all the screens and where to find things, so my confidence is increasing.

Pros

I like the ability to build templates and create reports that are consistent, easy to read, and look good. I like the picture management and ability to annotate. The checklists and prompts are very helpful and avoid missing things during the inspection process and subsequent reporting. The online platform is very powerful and eliminates the need to email reports as clients get an email with login and they grab the report and other info right on the web from wherever they are. The software is not super easy to learn but the on-line info is good and phone support is excellent.

Cons

The way some legacy features are handled were/are confusing to me. Support has helped me sort it out. It helps to have some tech background or someone to help you with web type issues. I would not recommend it to old-school lone rangers unless they are patient and willing to take the time to watch alot of you tube videos and read FAQs etc.

I was with a franchise in the past (WIN) and was looking for a new software, I feel that I found what I needed with Home Gauge. The reports look extremely professional and the support I receive is excellent. Thanks!

Pros

The support that I receive is the most valuable to me. It doesn't matter to whom I speak the person is most professional and helpful.

Cons

There are issues, for someone that is not computer software specialist it is difficult to navigate and function. An example would be that if a change is made by a agents bio, it need to call in and have it changed. It would be nice if it was a simple adjustment I could do. I know that some of the issues that I have are probably my own fault.

With homegauge I was able to look like a seasoned professional, even when I was new to the business. Now, with business insights, it makes doing my taxes and tracking my revenue so much easier.

Pros

The cost and ease of set up was the selling factor for me back in 2005. I could lease the software affordably, which was important to me as a startup company. Now, I love HomeGauge because the reports are robust and VERY impressive. The home buyers I serve love all the detail in the reports and how easy they are to read and receive.

Cons

As with all software, there was a learning curve. You can edit EVERYTHING in this software, so it's a little overwhelming at first. But software support is super helpful and friendly.

It's helping get the job done.

Pros

It's integration with Invoicing, payment and scheduling.

Cons

The glitch in transferring auto diagrams/pictures from companion to desktop. The time it takes to find Auto comments, missing search feature. The ordering of comments takes too long. The little glitches in the scheduling software when you have to go back and correct something I mistyped. Texas Template causes comments to run together and get split between pages

Outstanding. It has made my inspections appreciably more accurate while taking less time to complete.

Pros

The ability to customize the inspection software to meet my exacting needs is a critical feature for me. As huge bonuses, the ability to integrate everything online and add video to my reports has allowed me to stand out from the mass of other inspectors.

Cons

Lack of ability to get a customer signature on the device instead of online.

HomeGauge produces a professional looking report and the realtors love the Repair Request list function it gives them. Customer service has always been more than helpful. Just needs to streamline the interface of tablet report writing.

Pros

I like the overall format and abilities of software to upload, download and print reports. The report templates offer any type if configuration needed and formatting to my needs.

Cons

Using the tablet software during an inspection to write as i go is a cumbersome process. There are too many clicks to make on screen to get to write a comment and then one has to back out of that screen with multiple clicks to get to another location. I just want to choose a section and write. Process adds a significant amount of time during inspection relative to previous software i was using.

Cons

I wish the finished report had the option for a bit more custom look. Additionally, in the last year, I've had more problems uploading than in the two previous years combined. Finally, Homegauge needs after hours support. Hume inspectors are put in the field all day. When we get home and start the finish process is when problems arise. It's also when the support team had gone home home for the day. Due to the time sensitivity of our work, often times it won't wait until the next day to resolve. Somebody that works the phones on the evening shift would be a game changer support wise.

I do appreciate friendly quick response from Home Gage customer service technical support. I also am glad they are offering E&O insurance. I have the rest of this year with Hartford Insurance then will transfer to Home Gage Insurance. Friendly customer service keeps me with Home Gage. Ray Hernandez.

Pros

Great Customer service. Robust software that needs technical support to help me/us. I do wish I had a quick reference book in print to review and stay off my CPU.

Cons

I am Unfamiliar with functionality. Which is my responsibility to learn. I hear there is a defect software that can be purchased and added to Home Gage from InterNachi. I wish Home Gage added this defect list to shorten my typing time and report writing.

I've been using HG for nearly 10-years and my template has evolved to a work of art. HG has made it so convenient to customize my template as the industry changes and new technologies are implemented. All of my employees are required to use HomeGauge.

Pros

I utilize the narrative format that simplifies the inspection report for Realtors and Buyers. HG Companion makes it extremely easy and convenient to document your report on your smartphone. The HG Repair List is the most AWESOME tool to provide to Realtors!

Cons

My competition uses it too, eliminating my advantage.

Reason for choosing HomeGauge

Its been nearly 10-years. I don't recall all of the useless trial softwares that I experimented with prior to purchasing HG.

Pros

It is user friendly once you get the hang of it. Moves quickly and easily through the tabs. Photos upload easily and easily transported into the report.

Cons

Cloud transfers seem "bulky". Formatting capabilities of the report seem antiquated (can't seem to completely transform the formatting the way we want it) although they have come along way over the years and does offer alot of personalization. Integration with ISN is poor.

Cons

Would like to have a cloud based software that I can use on site with a tablet. Do not like Home Gauge companion. It is not very functional. Hoping that HomeGauge will offer a cloud based version soon so that it is more useful in the field. .

Cost and at the time I felt that HomeGauge had a better product. However now it appears that Spectora is cloud base and will allow me to use a tablet/phone on site to write the reports.

I have always had a good experience.

Pros

I Have used this product since 2011, I have seen the user friendly software change over the years. More features keep getting added that help my business look professional and keep ahead of the competition. When I first started with HomeGauge I used to talk to customer service and they would walk me through my problem. Now I have not needed to talk to customer service for the past few years, everything is so easy to do and I can customize a report to fit my clients.

Cons

I do wish the software would allow me to do quarterly reports to make taxes easier.

Their support is very helpful but unfortunately is never available when I really need it (after hours or on weekends, etc.) I'm typing reports after 5:00PM, and they're closed. They shut down their online support forum, where users can ask/answer questions and get help from other HG users. They add new features to the software without fixing known bugs first.

Pros

Generally easy to customize, but some features are not intuitive. Reports are easy to read. Agents and clients like the report upload features.

Cons

No universal template (comments from one template are not available in other templates) which renders having multiple templates useless. Trying to customize the front page of the report requires HTML coding knowledge. One of the only programs I have ever used that doesn't allow the user to predict exactly what the printed output will look like (too much white space, weird positions of photos). The Companion app is clunky and has too many clicks. HomeGauge has one of the worst spell checkers I have ever encountered.
