Home inspector Real Estate Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Companion user" February 7, 2020 5.0 It is a good field use program that needs to be updated. Pros I use the companion on my phone, very easy to use, easily transfers to my computer via HG cloud. Cons There is a lag between updates and suggested improvements of up to a year. Also, updates like photo size selection, adding arrows and circles on the phone, even transmitting reports from the phone do not seem to interest the software developers at all. I transitioned over to only stucco inspections (stucco is a big problem where I live) and was able to modify reports to suit my needs. The ability to track history on previous inspections and clients has been vital to growing my business. The automatic emails for sending out invoices has been extremely helpful as well! Pros The software works without bugs and is easy to modify to my unique needs. Cons Built in support / help is very poor. Over the phone supports is GREAT, but built in support to say. change a agents email address, is less then helpful and in some cases creates a lot of frustration and extra work. Of course a computer generated report with photos and adaptability become a superior a immediately. Pros The ease, thoroughness and adaptability of this reporting system. The staff at HG are always willing to help and they know what they are talking about. Pros I really like the ease of use and modern features, HomeGauge is constantly upgrading and adding features to make my reports easier to type and easier to read. Pros The ability to change on the fly. Using this software on a daily basis the need to make changes based on the inspection you are working on helps keep the report writing fresh and current. Cons Just takes time to customize your comments to speed up the report writing process. I would be interested in more pre-built templates/comments. Pros Home Gauge is highly intuitive and user friendly. I can complete reports in no time flat. Since the software is user-customizable I have it set up the way I want and I get rave reviews from my customers. Cons There is very little not to like. The one thing the software can't do is add punctuation for foreign names, like tildes. Pros easy to archive and modify reports on the fly in the field Cons Needing to be connected to the internet to upload, it would be nice if I could hit upload and then the software would upload when internet service was available. It is far superior to all other software I have tested. My five years of use have been almost without issue. The rare occasion I have had an issue support usually has had it resolved within an hour. Cons I honestly can not think of anything but I am sure new improvements are being worked on right now that will make me go oh yes that makes sense. Pros I have been using HomeGauge Software for 5 years this summer. I recommend the software, have and will purchase again. Very Satisfied with support when needed, I would highly recommend the 3 day class. Cons Without the 3 day class it is daunting to get a rhythm to the inspection itself. I have a FLIR camera that is difficult to load pictures to the report without going around left field but it is possible. Review Source DH David H. Owner Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "iOS version" January 23, 2020 2.0 Overall it is a professional looking report but the iOS version needs work Pros I like that the software does everything from sound to pictures to videos and integrates them all together for a very good report Cons The companion app on my iPhone is not very stable and has crashed a few time with me losing everything including the pictures even though I had it auto back up every 15 minutes. Pros I like the availability of Homegauge team. When I have a question they are quick to respond and help me. They also are very knowledgeable. The software itself is very simple to use once you get familiar with it. Cons The only problem I’ve had with the software is that once in a while when I try to add a picture to my report it will tell me that it did not save and I have to do it over. Cons HomeGauge does like to focus on making big updates periodically and small requests for improvements can take time. Cons I have a Degree in Information Technology and it still isn't the easiest to use when starting out. Getting training would help speed up the learning curve. One of the things I like least is the connection between the app and the desktop software: save report, upload to cloud, open software on computer, download from cloud, open report from downloads folder. It is very popular with the realtors during negotiations. Pros It is extremely user friendly and customizeable. Cons I have no complaints with the software. I am extremely sastified with the support that is available during business hours. The only downside is not having 24 hour tech support when problems arise after HomeGauge closes. Can customize a few options. Software has worked well over the past 6 plus years. Minor problems but tech team usually solves issues quickly and are knowledgeable about the software. Cons Some changes I make in the template do not save and have to be changed each time. Every once in a while customers have problems logging in, but typically it is user error. They generally have the home inspection trade figured out and the software is fairly seamless. My one complaint is the M-F 9-5 eastern help line. I'm busy inspecting during the 'workday'. I find I need help at 7 PM or 5 AM and on weekends.
