#1 is the customer support. \[sensitive content hidden\] is my account manager and a former home inspector who helps in so much more that just the initial software launch. \[sensitive content hidden\] is my Tech support and has always been super quick to help with any issues (normally issues occur the morning before the inspection or late at night) and they have a wonderful help desk for after hours to help me stay up and running#2 is that we run a muti inspector team approach and Horizon is a perfect web based solution that allows multiple user interface uploads in the field to make a High quality most professional report I have seen to date#3 is the Report. Best in class professional report that I have seen on the market. Too many features to list

Cons

The learning curve from one software to another is always a challenge. Horizon has a learning curve but once you get past it, you will never know how you managed without it

Pros

There are so many things I appreciate about this software. It’s customizable, so I can deliver the product I want. It looks sooooo professional as well. And it is efficient, so I am more productive.

Cons

I’m a little stuck trying to think about something I don’t like…. I guess I wish it would start producing my commercial reports too!

The staff at Horizon is very professional and knowledgeable. I have yet to have a bad experience while interacting with the Horizon staff and I do not see one happening in the future. They are very quick to respond to your email questions or in returning a call if they where on the phone helping someone else.

Pros

Everything! I really like the mobile app. Being able to take a picture and knowing that it would populate into the right place in my report is huge. I still get on my computer to clean up and finish my report, but almost everything is there in the right place. The items that are not are me just not knowing the right spot for everything yet. Once you spend sometime in the software it gets easier and easier to move around in it. It truly makes me want to go inspect a house, so that I can implement all the features I have customized or just added to make the inspections and reports go smoother.

Cons

I would like to be able to sign the pre inspection contract digitally like the client has the ability to do so. I have my own way to do this off the software, but being able to do it on the software would be very helpful.

### "The best reporting system that we have ever used!"

Exceptional, could not be happier!

Pros

I think that the way our reports look is very important to how they are perceived by our clients. Prior to using Horizon we would have phone calls every day with questions about our reports. It wasn't that the reporting wasn't clear, it's just that by comparison, the Horizon reports are so easy to read and understand that our clients just don't have questions. It has saved us a tremendous amount of wasted time on the phone.

Cons

The only criticism I have is that I would like to be able to duplicate pictures in the system. In other words, if I have a photo in the report that I would like to use a second time, or in two different locations, I have to upload the photo again. I would like to be able to simply COPY the phot and move it to where I want it. The other thing would be to be able to change the order of the photos in whatever section I'm in... the photos go into the report in the order that they are taken, I want to be able to slide them left or right to put them in the order I want. It helps to tell the "story" better.

It's just better. Most of the other reports have too much stuff on the pages or are checklist type reports which is confusing, our Horizon reporting is very easy to read and understand... that is critical for our clients and for us as a company.

It has made me a better inspector having access to many tools and tips. It's like having an office back you up. e.g booking, accounting and marketing.

Pros

Having my clients understand the report and giving them the quality makes them happy which makes me happy. Having access to a big library helps me save time and money looking things up.Looks very professional.

Cons

It does not have a video feature where you can add a recording which would help to explain some things that pictures don't capture.

For more than 20 years, Horizon Home Inspectors has been the backbone of my inspection business, providing me with essential support. Their app is incredibly user-friendly and helps me cover all the bases during inspections. I love how I can customize the checklist to fit each property. But what really stands out is their top-notch customer service—they're always ready to go the extra mile. After two decades in the industry, I can confidently say that Horizon Home Inspectors is the best, and I wouldn't dream of using anything else. This app is like a trusted friend, and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about improving their inspection process.

Cons

The only minor hiccup I've encountered is that occasionally the program can be a bit slow, but it's a small inconvenience compared to the overall efficiency and quality of the Horizon Home Inspectors app.

The time saving aspect was critical to me because the former method I used was taking far too much time to do up a thorough, professional report. The second aspect of my former method was that I had to purchase thick manuals that were constantly rising in cost which I had to pass on to the client; increasing my overall invoice while my competitors were able to maintain their lower prices. The ongoing training is something I've not received from the competitors at all. I always look forward to the short webinars which have always made my work look more professional and in less time. Hooray for that!

Pros

The check boxes are simple to use, very time saving with an added simple method of customization option sets this software well above the last three methods I've experienced over the past 20 years. The extensive reference library is pretty amazing as well. For new inspectors to the industry; this software is a very in-depth, comprehensive program that really has everything within it to set you up for success. BUT, it is imperative that you take the time to customize it to your liking; however long that takes.

Cons

The search library isn't as extensive or easy to articulate as described. However, I believe that further studies will indicate I am likely not doing something the way it should be done or haven't taken the time to read all instructions the get the most out of the software. One small point I find missing is to know if the client actually received the work order along with a simple way of resending it if not opened or received. Another is to maintain a list that shows the client has paid for the service rather than disappearing as soon as it is marked paid; also an automatic means of sending out a receipt.

Reason for choosing Horizon

I quickly realized I would have a cost savings adjustable to my operation and industry ebbs and flows. The trial version was relatively simple to get accustomed to vs. others I tried and the communications has been nothing but excellent. For me this software has been near perfect.

### "The best full service inspection software."

Horizon realizes more than any other software that time is precious, whether yours or your clients and is laser focused on saving it. They are constantly upgrading the system with an eye towards making things easier and faster while not sacrificing the end product. My typical day includes 2 inspections with reports on site averaging 3-4 hours at each inspection, answering the phone, booking new inspections and travelling on average 300-400 km. There is no way I could do it without Horizon.

Pros

The mobile app is fast and responsive. The report writes itself as you do the inspection.Everything is integrated, once information is entered in the work order Horizon looks after everything from contracts to reminder and follow up emails. Less time spent on the booking and administration side of the business means more time inspecting and with clients. I also like the all in pricing. I get access to all Horizon's features for one price.

Cons

There have been recent issues with photo upload in the app. Hopefully short lived.The booking side of the system needs updating to a more mobile friendly system that matches the inspection app for speed and efficiency

### "5 Stars is all you need to know"

Pros

I use Horizon strictly for report writing. I've become very familiar with the program over the last 12 years. The templates save a lot of time, and the illustrations really help explain conditions found in the home, even to the most novice home buyer.

Cons

There's no capability to upload videos to Horizon. Uploading the videos to YouTube, then adding the link to the report is a work-around, but it would be more useful to be able to have it directly in the report. Especially to non-tech savy clients, who don't use YouTube or any other apps. Also, I've never understood how a Canadian company, bills in US dollars, AND charges GST on the invoice. But that is a billing issue, and has nothing to do with the software itself.

Reason for choosing Horizon

It was used by the company that I previously worked for before staring my own business in 2015. I looked into other software but decided to stick with Horizon.

So far, it has been good using horizon.

Pros

It is easy to use and to navigate through. The generated reports from horizon are neat and not too busy as I have seen with other reporting tool.

Cons

Inability to introduce personal or external illustrations other than what is in horizon. The issue of distorting my photos when I load it without working on the size. It usually lead to waste of time for me editing my photos and increase the time for me to turn out my report.

Pros

I've been using Horizon Report Writing Software since my company was opened 13 years ago and I can honestly say that this software is the best out there. I've had a couple offers from other companies to try their software and after using their trial version, It's quite easy to see the difference between the various types of software. My client always tell me how easy the report is to read and navigate trough it. The report look very professional and this software is super easy to use. User friendly and updated with great diagrams and information for customers is hands down the best! I will continue to use them regardless of the price because I like paying for quality as do my clients for quality inspections and reports.

Cons

I honestly have no cons about the software. The price tends to be a bit higher than some but paying for quality is a no brainer. Their customer service is always ready to help and this is very important to me.

### "Unique in My Area"

There was a month or so when the desktop Offline version wasn't working and it took several calls to Support to get it going again.

Pros

I started using Horizon about 7 years ago. It took a few reports to get the hang of it, Like any others.What i like the most is the way it fills in my writing that I have already written before. I also like the way I can work on it with my laptop when I dont have internet access. I like the descktop version. I do 99% of the reports ont he desktop version and then go into the online version to finish up.

Cons

I have asked before if there was a way to start a new section without it going to the next Page. It leaves a big blank area and makes the report look longer. To me, I don't care, but I get comments back from realtors about how long they are.

Reason for choosing Horizon

Honesty Cant remember. I think I was finishing up my 2 week course in St. Louis and there was a Rep there or a booth and I liked how the pictures worked.

Pros

I am a new inspector and the ease of use with this program has given me the confidence, the push, to put together quality reports as if I have been in the business for 20 years. Agents and clients don't want to stand around for longer than they have to at an inspection. The software keeps me on par or quicker than the competition. The feedback I have received from clients and agents has been 100% positive. The reports are detailed and comprehensive. I want to thank Horizon for making my first year in business less stressful. If I ever have had a question, the support team at Horizon has always been great and the Webinar's are extremely helpful.

Cons

With how customizable this software is, it is difficult to find something I didn't like.

Horizon has been great to work with and the support team is a great help whenever you need him. My other inspectors all love it as well and we have brief experimental moments with other software platforms, but always keep coming back complaining about the others. It's easy to navigate, easy for me to track my business, and allows great access options to I can monitor and check on my other inspectors work.

Pros

The best thing about Horizon is the interface and the report appearance when the clients get it. When other inspectors are out there putting word documents together or excel sheets with a couple of pictures at the end they can't even come close to comparing. With Horizon we provide a 40-60 page report with 80-100 digital pictures that takes about the same amount of time as them putting together a word document that makes a bad impression on the client and the realtor along with anyone else that sees it. Combine a great inspection, with outstanding customer service and a report that will impress all on its own and we have a template for success in this business, and in fact, we grow about 20% every year.

Cons

I'm picky because I work with it every day and after comparing the other software products there are a few things I wish was better. One was for more picture storage (you get like 200) but for those 4 families and such more would be better. Also we need a scroll bar for preset canned statements in the tablet/OS version like the PC version has. Lastly I would like to see more options for picture editing and flagging pictures.

Quick and fast report generation. Required items checklist is also very helpful. Being able to import boilerplate text entries created by third-party companies would be very easy, and make set up for new users quick.

Pros

Quick and easy Report generation and field notes. Marketer is great for automatic Communications.

Cons

Lack of simple additions that would make life easier for home inspectors. Examples. Customer contact information phone number excetera in Google Calendar entries. The ability to click on a field in the homepage of the website to bring up that section of the work order. At present you have to click on work order and then the section you want. Also, an indication of whether it is paid or contract signed at the homepage would be very useful. Repetitive standardized tasks could be simplified. For example custom report type selections on the report publishing page. For example a drop-down menu could be report type A, and when selected it would automatically check certain of the option boxes, fill out the email, and put the typical email addresses, for example to the client and CC the realtor. Having to click okay every time I take a picture in Horizon mobile for Android is redundant because if I click back I will end up in the same place. Not being able to swipe left or right in the mobile on Android to select description or recommendations.

### "Horizon Brings Me More Business"

I cannot say enough good things about Horizon. The reports come out well organized and clean. My clients and the realtors I work with love the ease of navigating through the reports with the section tabs. The reports provide so many helpful illustrations and links that assist with educating my clients. The additional tools such as the action list help me get more referrals and business from realtors. Realtors appreciate anything that helps make their jobs a bit easier. From a business standpoint it has really helped me stay on track and continue to grow. I enjoy the built in option of not releasing the report until the inspection agreement has been signed and payment has been received. This helps protect my business. If I ever have any questions, the staff is very responsive and takes care of any issues quickly. Horizon has put out a top notch product and great service to go with it. I can't thank them enough for helping me grow my business!

Cons

Photo limit is a little low Since it is internet based it does slow down from time to time and/or makes it difficult to write the report on site if inspection is in an out of service area.

Horizon help desk is awesome every time I have called they have helped me and guided me through with the issues that I was having. And have called back when I have left messages in reference to issues and not leave you hanging!

Pros

Horizon software is very easy to use and has awesome templates to make your reports Stand out. You can upload your own items such as photos, also you can use the illustrations that are provided in the software that looks amazing when added to the report. The speed write section is awesome once you get it down. This is a very powerful tool once you get everything down.

Cons

The downside is unable to edit with the program on you devices have to wait until I get back home and connect with my laptop, and also add function like low, medium, and high priority items, but other than that awesome product.

Using Horizon has generated more business from attorneys and realtors because of the clarity and educational aspect of report. Getting the report and inspection completed much faster. Very easy to train inspectors on how to use mobile app and write clear concise reports.

Pros

Ease of use and ability to use mobile app in field and customize to our needs. Report is basically done on site we inspect with two inspectors one using the mobile device while inspecting. Teaching a report writing class in a home inspection school and using all of Horizons educational materials has been very helpful as well.

Cons

Not understanding and using mobile app sooner to get report done quicker actually my fault didn’t take the time.

Reason for choosing Horizon

Customer support !!!! During my trial period and currently the team is always there to answer any questions or concerns. I have gotten help from the team over the weekend as well. Either a phone call or email very helpful while setting up your program and if you need help while on an inspection. Oh btw the monthly webinars and FB page are amazing and highly educational - “ don’t miss “.
