Comments: Bring back the top notch customer support you had . . . eTapestry is hard to learn and unless you are a programmer you need qualified, knowledgeable support who will help.

Pros: The customer support it used to have when we first started a couple of years ago. Now it seems as if no one knows much on chat.

Cons: The customer support on chat is terrible. All they do is send you links to read. They don't seem to understand.

Comments: IF you use their system, you should really consider using their payment processing as well. It is comparable to other services and will make your life easier.

Pros: The interface is easy to use and the donation processing and web forms functionality is pretty intuitive. If you haven't used a donor database before, this is a good beginning system. It has all of the basic functions you need, is fairly easy to use and fees are on a sliding scale.

Cons: Their reporting and querying system is not great. You can get what you need, but it seems to be overly complicated and often requires two or three steps where other systems can do it in one. They are making improvements on this, but the essential architecture now is the same as it was when I first used this system in 2008, so I am not sure how much they can effectively change.

Pros: The customer support has been great. The diy forms are easy to build (once you get your user defined fields created)

Cons: I wish there was a built in way to distinguish donors and clients. Difficult to pull information from DIY forms.

Comments: I really enjoy eTapestry and find it to be very robust and helpful for fundraising and general database activities.

Cons: Looking forward to more customization opportunities in forms Wish there was a way to delete accounts

Comments: It's not an intuitive. Customer service doesn't exist. The only help I got wat the support page, but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Pros: I like that eTapestry doesn't charge transactions fees. It seems it has a lot of features, but we don't

Cons: I found difficult to use. I struggle every time I need to build a query or running a report. Customer service is not helpful/accesible.

I am a new employee at a smaller non-profit, and although not always intuitive, I have found e-Tapestry pretty easy to use.

Pros: I like how easy it is to find what I am looking for. I mainly work with donor giving and have only run a handful of reports - I have found all those functions easy to use.

Cons: Some aspects of building a query and running reports are challenging. Often, I find myself going in circles trying to get to the information I need - and although a it might be a con for the software, I also attribute it to my lack of experience.

Comments: The only thing they are reliable at is billing you - they conveniently require direct deposit. Currently trying to find someone who can change my billing process - though it's been weeks and no one has gotten back to me.

Pros: I believe that there are great capabilities if you have the time to figure out how to utilize this database. I would recommend having someone specifically dedicated to this - ideally a tech person or computer programmer - not just a development person.

Cons: It's not intuitive.Customer service is not very accessible. They charge extra for additional support. Getting started on training you're really on your own. There are so many various locations for instruction, some at an additional cost. Getting started in this database has taken months to upload my 1,000 records. I don't have a point person to contact or anywhere to go up the chain of command. I have no idea how this company is structured. Considering scrapping it and finding something new.

I am enjoying getting to know the new software.

Comments: Not happy with this product.

Pros: Pretty quick customer support, automatic gift processing, ability to track donations well, very large knowledge base.

Cons: Price, not that easy to use if doing more than data entry. Reports, queries, etc. more difficult. Need to pay extra money on top of the large cost to get pre-made reports.

Comments: I would not recommend this software .

Pros: Their support number is a nice tool that is included with their pricing. However, I found I had to use it frequently because so many aspects of this software are more challenging than they need to be.

Cons: Reports are the most difficult part of etapestry. There are so many nuances to running a report that will actually provide the results that you want. I have spent a lot of time running and re-running reports to finally get the desired outcome.

Pros: Integration with online giving is seamless. Manual entry of gifts is easy and straightforward. It's easy to export data.

Cons: No one in our small organization uses this software regularly enough to feel proficient, and it isn't intuitive. I waste a lot of time trying to get data out of the software. Reports have to be rebuilt every time you run them, and there is no built-in year against year to date report, which seems like an essential to me. When I was given instructions on how to accomplish this, I couldn't believe the number of steps it involved. I find myself spending a lot of time running queries, then exporting them to Excel to manipulate the data to prepare something I can share with the ED and Board. I know there are users who love this software, but it isn't working well for us.

Seems cumbersome.

Pros: It seems to have a lot of features, although our organization only uses a fraction of those. The Cart would be a good feature if we could get it to work.

Cons: The query/report functionality seems very cumbersome. Also, many programs these days integrate directly with QuickBooks, although eTapestry does not, unless I'm missing something. The download into QuickBooks does not import the detail, so I have to keep going back to eTapestry when I need the detail. The pricing seems high for an organization of our size. I don't find the program intuitively easy to use -- the buttons are never where I think they will be, and the "Help" section has not been very helpful. The program does not seem flexible: Just an example -- I set up an approach that I realized shortly after that I wouldn't need, and your instructions said that I couldn't delete it. Although I could disable it, I don't want it forever after lurking in the data base when it has never been used and never will be!

This is a powerful database that can help you track all of your fundraising needs.

Pros: Customer support is amazing. The agents are very helpful and patient. Once you learn how to set up the dashboard, you can see just about anything without having to go from screen to screen on each account.

Cons: Setting up queries to get the exact information we need has been a challenge. Compound queries are very challenging.

Pros: This product is very easy to use. It's concise and great for organizations with limited development staff. Anyone can learn the software and use it with ease.

Cons: This product is easy to understand, but the lack of assistance when needed is tough. The solution is an online community of others using the same program, but it'd be great if there was actually a hotline.

Pros: We like the tiered permissions (security groups) function, which set this system apart from many other offerings in the donor management arena. The customer service has always been great when we've had problems. The reporting capabilities of eTapestry are absolutely incredible.

Cons: The software is not always intuitive, and it's only easy to use after lots of time has been spent learning its layout and functionalities.

Overall: We are able to track and communicate with our donors through this system. The reporting functionality is amazing for the price, and after a user has invested quite a bit of time into learning how everything works, the system has many capabilities that have been extremely useful for our organization.

Pros: Basic tools are easy to learn, especially as a first-time user. Saving attachments to records. Tracking soft credits; linking soft credits to hard credits. Ability to process credit cards and post directly in data records.

Cons: Many past development staff led to variations of historical data inputs--this is where the customization makes tasks difficult. Queries can only do AND and OR, so it can take multiple queries to get to the data needed. Can't delete accounts once a profile has been created. Can't undo merged accounts. Can't pull direct report on numbers of donor visits, donor gifts, etc (donor-focused data). Can't designate a special location for detailed donor visit reports (eTap account "Notes" isn't efficient).

Comments: I have been impressed with the solid support team eTapestry has. The online chat has been very helpful to me, and the specialists I have chatted with have always been knowledgeable.

Pros: eTapestry has lots of power to get things done. It is cloud-based, so there is no need for the user to worry about upgrading the software or backing up the data. Queries are very easy to produce, and exporting the results in reports, PDFs or excel is a snap. You can design your own forms so that your website can talk to eTapestry easily. eTapestry works equally well on desktop computers, tablets and cellphones. This is very helpful for fundraisers who are on the road.

Cons: If you are downsizing from a more robust package such as Raiser's Edge, be prepared for a loss of flexibility - for example, queries in eTapestry lack some of the power that Raiser's Edge has. When comparing what you get "out of the box" with some other solutions, you will find that in order to keep costs down for the average user, eTapestry is very basic. To add in eCommerce, donor logins, advanced email, etc these are available, but as an add-on pricing. This can make it more expensive than other products that have all these features to start with, so you should be aware of what your real needs are before committing to eTapestry.

The best part of Etapestry is their customer service; I have been able to quickly get any question or issue resolved with their online assistance.

Pros: Etapestry is very user friendly, I was able to pick it up quickly without utilizing any of the training videos.

Cons: I wish there was a way around only being able to open one record at a time. Other web based data bases I've used have had the same issue of only being able to open one window at a time. Are there any web-based data bases that allow you to open more than one window at a time?

Highly recommend eTapestry for your fundraising software. Absolutely worth the money.

Pros: Blackbaud's eTapestry is highly functional and very easy to use. We have almost 7,000 records in the eTapestry database. We found for queries, reporting and lists we are able to create these quicky to return the information we desire. Also, there are customizable features that we use frequently for our specific donor interests.

Cons: Our organization does not have anything negative to say about eTapestry. The service is fabulous and so is the product. We wish it were a lower cost, but feel we get the value out of the software.

Overall: Easy to set up queries, fast reporting features and an increase of donations because we have more time to focus on the donor and not the software.

Our database of donors is easily accessible and editable.

Pros: They have the best CRM customer service ever. Starting out, most CRMs just make you learn their software on your own. I had a rep actually walk me through everything and set stuff up for me when I wasn't able to figure it out myself. Talk about above and beyond.

Cons: We need a file upload option on our DIY forms and this CRM doesn't have that capability so it's really inconvenient.

Comments: Overall, it's a good program for the price we pay, but if it was any more we would change to a more user friendly system. The most important thing with eTap is to make sure that you have an employee who is familiar with database administration otherwise it is very easy within eTap for data to be misrepresented. In summary, if you don't have a big budget, it's a good way to get your feet off the ground, but I wouldn't look at it expecting a 5+ year/long term solution.

Pros: First of all the price for our organization is fantastic, after shopping around for a new database management system, we have found nothing close to what we are currently paying. eTap has decent functionality after you learn how to use it; once you master the basics, it has the flexibility to store just about any data that you need as long as you are willing to get a little creative in how you organize the data. The ability for the data base to be directly integrated into our website and Quickbooks is also a great feature that minimizes potential lost memberships and corrupted data.

Cons: The hands down most frustrating part of the program is that you can't have multiple tabs open within the same browser with eTap. In order to have eTap open on two different tabs, you must use a different web browser and a different login ID, which becomes a complete and total pain. It is also not the easiest program to learn and train new people on. Often we want volunteers to work on data management for us but that is really only possible if the volunteer or intern is with us for at least three months so we an spend the time training them on the program.

Comments: E Tapestry is a great all around donor database although it has some service downfalls.

Cons: Reports are a bit tricky. There are many ways to run reports and at times the simplest report takes way too long to extract.

Comments: eTapestry has become a tool that can rival any of the more expensive CRMs in the market. The only big step back is that it now belongs to Blackbaud, which has decreased the quality of its customer service.

Pros: It is user friendly for the nontechnical staff when looking for and updating information.

Cons: Not that friendly for extracting information (querying and reporting features). And since Blackbaud bought it, its customer service has become bad and unreliable.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is still a great tool for small to medium organizations. For larger organizations it may become too slow.

Comments: We are a small public garden who recently purchased a 3 year subscription to eTapestry. Don't be fooled by the smooth sales pitch - the service is appallingly bad. We purchased what was sold as unlimited phone support at an additional cost. One month later we still have not been able to get a call answered. When we call there is a message saying we are not entitled to phone support despite the check having been cashed one month ago. Contacted them again this morning - still waiting 4 hours later for help - currently on hold. It may be a decent program but there is no help getting it set up. Buyer beware!!!

Comments: I have used eTapestry for almost 4 years at a non-profit for donation and donor management. eTapestry has several different price points, based on which modules of the software you want to implement for your organization. eTapestry offers live webinars that provide specific training; interaction with the moderator is quick and easy and all of the moderators have been extremely knowledgeable. It is also helpful to do a live webinar because the input from other attendees is real-time and in-depth.

Pros: The amount of options, training, and customization are extremely efficient.

Cons: It does take time invested in learning if you want to utilize the software to its fullest capabilities.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you purchase the software, also purchase the training package for unlimited trainings. You won't regret it.

Comments: As a 10+ year Raiser's Edge user, I wasn't too worried about using eTapestry as part of my new job. Boy, was I wrong. I inherited the system and was unpleasantly surprised to find that this Blackbaud product so user unfriendly. Even the most basic functions are not intuitive. It take more steps than are necessary to extract the information you need which means it's time consuming and therefore hampers productivity. For example, running a query shouldn't frustrate the user to the point that they have to resort to letting Blackbaud support login to the system and run it! Additionally, this platform doesn't have a mechanism to capture detailed notes about donors - something that is critical in fundraising! If I were using Raiser's, I would be able to go into a donor record, open the notes field and record the gist of a conversation, meeting, etc. as well as set follow ups. In eTapestry, you're limited to a sticky note which isn't exactly the same thing -- in fact, it's nothing like it. If you just want to keep simple data -- basically a place to record gifts, then this *might* work for you. However, you need to understand that this isn't an easy interface; most functions take multiple (and I mean double-digit multiple) steps to complete. There are other donor management programs out there that offer much more in a easier to use format ... typically for the same price.

Pros: I cannot think of a single thing.

Cons: Everything.

Recommendations to other buyers: Know what you want out of your software ahead of time. As I said earlier, I inherited this program, so I didn't know much about it other than it was a Blackbaud product. Since I had many years of experience with another BB program, I presumed it would be comparable. If I were to start from scratch, I would be looking for a program that offered more than just a repository of names and donations. I would be on the hunt for one that could help the organization to grow the mission, cultivate relationships and offer a variety of tools to get the job done and most importantly, in a user-friendly format. Unlike unicorns, these programs really do exist!

Comments: We went from having info in file folders. eTapestry is easy to use, and its customer service people are wonderful.

Pros: Its immediate ease of use for the basic things--and the customer service people!

Cons: I don't have enough time to learn how to do all the things it has the capacity for.

Recommendations to other buyers: Schedule training time for 30 to 60 minutes a week until you've familiarized yourself with all the bells and whistles--particularly doing queries and reports.

Comments: eTapestry is full of wonderful features that make life easier for tracking donors.

Pros: Great customer support/chat/email.

Cons: I often feel I need to be a programmer to understand the queries and reports. This is my 4th year using it, and it still is confusing. I use chat very frequently. If that wasn't included, I would not use this program.

Comments: eTapestry is a good constituent management system for a smaller non-profit organization. Our organization has grown in volume and complexity very quickly. This unexpected growth has made tracking a bit more involved than our small team can handle. But with that said, I believe eTapestry has a great capacity for detailed tracking that would help any non-profit as long as it's set up in a way that allows for growth.

Comments: The system we found very functional and inclusive in all donor and fundraising needs. The record keeping is great and allows you to track what was sent and when and how often. It allows you to find any donor's information to ask them for another donation or a thank you letter. It is a little on the expensive side and not the easiest system to figure out, but all in all, i would recommend it.

Comments: This software is better meant for larger organizations. It seems to have a lot of bells whistles that are not particularly useful to my organization at it's current stage. Comments: I have been using eTapestry for a little over 3 years. I manage all of the donations that my non-profit receives and use eTapestry to assist in that process. It was a little difficult to navigate at first. I took over my position with little training on eTapestry, so I had to figure a lot of it out as I was using it. Once I got the hang of how queries and reports communicate with each other, it made everything a lot easier! The support team with eTapestry has been great in helping me learn all of the functions the site has to offer. They were able to answer all of my questions and make me feel comfortable using the site. We also utilize the personal fundraising pages as well. These have been fair easy to maintain. eTapestry is not the most user friendly for people who do not have a lot of computer/internet skills. I was able to navigate most of it, but had to reach out to support many times.

Pros: Easy way to track contact information for donors, Endless reports that can be created in relation to donations, Great customer service

Cons: Not the most user friendly to someone who isn't great with technology, Some functions within tracking donor's and their donations are complicated, Limited personal fundraising options

Recommendations to other buyers: Contact eTapestry support with any questions you have! They will email you a copy of your transcript and send over detailed instructions if needed. They always helped me out and never made me feel silly for asked so many questions!

Comments: I am the office manager and I utilize E-Tapestry probably the most in our organization. I use it to manage our donor base, enter gifts, and create queries.

Pros: I do like the amount of information you can store on each individual account record. The search bar makes it easy to find an account if you do not know all of the information and just some of the information. Entering gifts and labeling them appropriately is very easy.

Cons: I would say there is not a lot of educational tutorials on how to performs a certain task. If there are videos to learn certain things they are not easily found. The only reason I know how to use this program is because of a co-worker who had been working on it longer and also using trial and error. It is not easy to delete multiple records. Merging accounts often causes you to lose information. The steps to get a task done are not very well communicated.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would suggest looking elsewhere for a donor based software. This one is very hard to learn and use, and with little tutorials is makes working with this program a bit tasking. A software like this should make my work life more efficient and there are times when e-Tapestry does the total opposite of that.

Comments: Inflexible forms, reporting and customizing along with deal-breakingly slow to load event registration forms with few design options anywhere close to modern standards turned us totally away from etapestry after a 2 year stint. Even the training videos were stuck in the 1950's. Far too unsophisticated for our use. Asked too few and the wrong questions before diving into our data set-up left us wondering what we would get. Short answer: not what we needed. Their claims of customer service and customization are a fantasy.

Comments: My organization needed a better and more intuitive way to track our donors, increase our membership, provide engaging reports for our Board and integrate our website in our fundraising efforts. After MUCH research, we made the switch to eTapestry and have never been happier. The product itself is very easy to navigate for all users of various levels of experience. The reporting functions are exactly what we were needing and our Board feels more involved and up to date in all of our fundraising efforts. the ability to integrate into our current website is also a relief as we have seen an increase in online donations because of the ease of use and promotion. After struggling with several different databases, we are so glad to have finally found a perfect fit and "new member" of the team! The support staff is always VERY knowledgeable and eager to help, too!

Pros: reporting, ease of use, integration with our website, goal reminders, etc.

Cons: nothing at all! : )

Recommendations to other buyers: Be sure to go through as many of the trainings as you can. Their training programs are tremendously helpful when setting up your new database!

Comments: I have been working in communications and development for non-profit organizations for more than 15 years. I have been using eTapestry for 2 years. I have experience with a variety of other donor management tools including Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge. eTapestry is strong in regard to contact management, processing online gifts, and the reporting/query tools. The expense as well as the email communications and analytics are where it falls short.

Pros: Entire system is very easy to learn no matter the experience level Managing donor records and online gifts is very easy Reporting and query tools are easy to use even for those without a lot of experience building queries clean, user-friendly interface excellent customer support simple data entry & gift processing online giving pages import gifts directly to database, helping teams avoid manual entry & the pages can be reskinned to match your website design easy to mass import records

Cons: expensive, especially having to pay for Advanced emails & paying an hourly fee for minor changes eTapestry support must be requested for an array of minor tweaks to giving pages for example and it usually takes several days to up to 2 weeks to get changes finished communications templates are inflexible and look extremely dated, often the preview of a communication you see on your screen is not how it looks at delivery, very limited analytics tools and delivery/testing options as far as I know there is no ability to export from eTapestry to QuickBooks which means gift processing team must reenter gifts manually into QuickBooks while it has the ability to provide personal fundraising pages, they are highly inflexible and the layouts look so dated they are almost not worth using

Recommendations to other buyers: My advice is to really think about what you want to use eTapestry for before purchasing. If you are using it for contact and donor management and online gift processing, I would consider it, as it is extremely easy to learn and use. If you want the tool to also be your email marketing tool, I would suggest requesting a detailed demo on the communication tool and analytics and ask a lot of questions regarding what you need it to do. To me, it seems eTapestry has not invested much in this area, as I have not noticed any new templates or feature improvements since I began using it two years ago. Be very thorough when asking about ongoing maintenance costs and think carefully through how often you will need changes to giving pages, how many records you plan to have, etc as these all impact the total cost.

Pros: Customer service

Cons: Old design, clunky, not intuitive.

Overall: It's too complicated for small organizations and not robust enough for large organizations. Since bought by Blackbaud, it seems to have been de-prioritized in terms of features, upgrades and design. Customer support is very good - but you'll need them on speed dial. Great people, great company - but this produce needs a little more TLC. Email marketing function is almost un-usable in today's mobile environment. No moves-management function, etc. 'Entirely customizable' means you have to build your own systems within. Great for basic donor info and gift tracking. Took us a couple years to 'right-size' it for us - and even then, when you have more 'work-arounds' than original offerings, you wonder if there's something better.

Comments: eTapestry takes a little getting used to especially if you are accustomed to the more robust Raiser's Edge. However for a small non-profit the pricing and the excellent customer support get you to where you need to be.

Pros: Ease of use. Availability of knowledge base. Also many consultants publish free manuals for creating end of year and monthly reports. Cost effective. Web based.

Cons: Lacks a robust query tool.

Recommendations to other buyers: While it was even better when there was a free version available eTapestry is worth considering for a small non-profit.

Pros: I really like all the things that eTapestry can do and all the help that I can get with all the questions that I have while I am learning the ropes! The people who have been with me from the moment I started looking into eTapestry, through the conversion process, through the training, and now as my team and I are getting our feet wet trying to get into the many facets of using eTapestry are very knowledgeable and so very helpful!

Cons: I wish that the conversion specialist had done a few more things for us, or at least had prepared me for how much was still left for me to do after he was done.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take a look at how readily available the IT crew the software company (chat line people) has. At eTapestry these people are available within seconds as soon as you login with a question. They can answer just about anything you need and give you the help you need when you need it. I've found eTapestry (and Blackbaud - the parent company) and their chat line support to be one of the very best support teams I've ever worked with on any website ever!

Cons: The queries don't always find the group I'm trying to capture. I find the queries to be clunky and not entirely intuitive. The program also doesn't have a ticketing module, so I'm stuck having to merge info from Brown Paper Tickets into eTapestry.

Pros: There are a multitude of functions eTapestry provides and the customization is endless. Essentially, you can adapt eTapestry to fit exactly what your organization wants to do.

Cons: With the above said, you must be essentially a Ph.D in eTapestry before you can customize it to do exactly what you need. Their terminology, user interface, and site organization is not intuitive at all. The learning curve is massive. Sure, they offer help and tutorials, but rarely do these answer the specific question you might have.

Pros: It collects all the information we need and includes Benevon Next Step needs.

Cons: To many steps to add data. I have to constantly watch video's to see how to do things. It is even harder for our staff to learn. It needs to be simplified, dramatically. I like the simplicity of Donor Perfect. But that program does not capture enough data. Something in between these two software systems would be great. And i have ideas if someone would ask! I do like that there ARE video tutorials.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's great for Benevon users, but expect complicated data entry and switching to many different screens for one person's data. To much work. However, it is the only database that i have found that captures our needs for Benevon. I just wish it was not so complicated. There are many video tutorials but you have to pay for the live session classes.

Pros: The data is all available, and the constituent records and custom fields have been set-up to our specifications. It seems like the team at eTapestry is committed to keeping clients and offering discounts for multi-year contracts.

Cons: eTapestry feels like it's not as important to Blackbaud as Raiser's Edge. The tool is clunky for casual users, and it is difficult to find/create helpful reports.

Pros: eTapestry has a responsive customer service team. Whenever I had an inquiry, someone was there to answer my questions. Once I was speaking with a sales associate and had a question the associate could not answer. The associate passed my question on to a customer service representative and the rep called me within a day to help solve my problem.

Cons: eTapestry has many options for managing large databases. This is wonderful for large organizations, however, ours is a small non-profit. We have two fundraisers and fewer than 1000 prospect records. eTapestry was too complicated for our needs and therefore ended up only being useful for data storage. Another issue arose when we had staff turnover. Product knowledge left with former staff and training for eTapestry would have cost 150% more than our annual eTapestry costs. Training was just too expensive and, as a result, we did not utilize eTapestry as much as we could have.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is important to know your database needs when selecting software. While it is appealing that eTapestry has multiple functions and can manage multiple users, a small, growing non-profit is unlikely to benefit from these functions. I suggest making a list of your organization's goals and the methods you will employ to reach these goals. Seek out software that will help you achieve your mission and goals. If you outgrow that software, you can always change providers as your needs change.

Pros: Very user friendly platform, keeps every tidy and organized and makes quick pull of reports a breeze making day of Board meetings a lot easier

Cons: I wish they had a manual "check box" for individual donations for thank you's to be excluded from the data pull if they were acknowledged in a different way or don't need acknowledgment. The transfer of my old files from previous database did take about six weeks to complete which I thought was a little on the long side and would have liked it to be completed sooner. But now that I have the database up and running it was worth the wait because its light years better then Giftworks or some of those other programs.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely do the tutorials and workshops you really learn a lot and their staff is very friendly and helpful. Also they dont nickle and dime you for any help you may need. It seems very up to date with the current trends in non-profit fundraising.

Pros: I really like the email templates. I know they have the ability to link with Constant Contact, but the email templates they have look quite professional and are easy to brand for my business. I also really like their Do It Yourself (DIY) Forms. They're very easy to create and it's important that our donors don't have to leave our website to securely give via the form. Many other CRMs require that the user go to their site to enter the information which confuses donors and probably results in a lot of drop-offs. The DIY Forms themselves are worth the cost alone. I am a fan of their credit card processing service. I hardly had to do any work to set it up, the fees are reasonable, and it seems easy to make changes as necessary. They also provided TWO credit card processing swipers (for iPad, I think) for free with the service! I haven't used them yet but I am very excited to have that option. They offer the ability to separate your giving by Campaigns and Approaches. This is super helpful for tracking which fundraising efforts have the most impact. I love the option to set reminders to follow up with specific people as well as the ability to track all contacts with supporters/volunteers. I have a lot of people to contact and am grateful for the ability to have all their information and history in one place. Although I complain about the Reports below - they do offer a great deal of pre-set reports that are really helpful and save a lot of time since I don't have to figure out how to create them on my own. These also provide a great way to think of new ways to look at our data. For example - they have a report that allows you to see all the donors that gave last year but haven't given this year. I never would have thought of that as a fundraising technique, but it will come in handy to contact lapsed donors. Lastly - I like the dashboard view that has all sorts of good information whether I'm in my main view or looking at a specific donor. Both are very helpful snapshots of necessary details and easily adaptable with a drag and drop feature.

Cons: I don't like the User Defined Fields and Queries/Reports. Let me rephrase - I LIKE that they have User Defined Fields and Queries/Reports available for use; I need and use those valuable tools. I just DON'T like having to wrap my brain around the database concept in order to determine how to best configure the information so it is easily used later. Fortunately, their customer support is very competent and quick to help me understand. It is a steep learning curve, but I am slowly getting the hang of it. I did hear that they have upgraded the Queries & Reports but I haven't had a chance yet to dig in to see if they're better or less confusing. Many of the training videos were super helpful and got me off to a good start. However, I didn't love their live training webinars. The women teaching them seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and didn't answer my questions well. I ended up re-asking the same questions to my sales rep who gladly helped me out. I believe the live webinars are "required" for new users and they're a bit of a waste of time, but helpful enough that you may as well stick 'em out. Lastly, while the system does allow for "scheduled emails" it doesn't allow for them to be sent to the most-up-to-date list of people (for example, you write your June Newsletter in April and schedule it to send in June. If anyone signs up to receive your newsletter between the time you scheduled it and the time it is scheduled, the new sign-ups will not receive the newsletter). This is very difficult for events - if you want to send a reminder email to the latest sign-ups the night before the event, you need to physically go in and send it at that time, otherwise the late registrations won't be included in the email. Also - they don't have a ton of automation. If you want to set up a series of emails based on a "trigger" event (like, they sign up for your newsletter and automatically get a 10-email series), eTapestry can't do that. It can send ONE automatic email, but not a series. I'm not sure if maybe Constant Contact can do that though... But even this is fixed with a work-around, so I'm not too bothered.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have been using Salsa Labs for another non-profit I work for. I thought for sure I'd love eTapestry way better and was really excited to get to know a new program and thought maybe I'd be able to switch my other non-profit to eTapestry if it worked well. What I learned is that a CRM is a CRM. There's a learning curve no matter which one you use (at least for these two). While I was struggling with many aspects of Salsa and assumed eTapestry would do them better, I found that eTapestry has just as many faults as Salsa, just in different areas. The best thing you can do is determine what exactly you need your CRM to do and then find the CRM that does THAT ASPECT well. Then, "grin and bear it" with all the patience you can muster through the aspects that aren't as great. Awesome customer service sure helps!

Comments: eTapestry has been very helpful in managing our database of clients and donors. I spending much less time gathering information for reports, entering data and generating letters than with our old system. I appreciate being able to get more done in less time. And I feel that the quality of my work has improved with the help of this tool.

Pros: I love having the ability to customize the screens based on my job's needs. I'm finding new and wonderful tools on eTapestry every week.

Cons: The "knowledge base" search is practically useless. It's much more efficient to go to Google, type in eTapestry and my question.

Comments: I was hired at Neighborhood Healthcare 3 weeks before its largest fundraiser of the year. I needed to learn eTapestry quickly to accurately update the database with event purchases and I needed my data entry to be fast. Customer support was my go-to, they answered questions over their chat module, emailed me white papers on best practices, and shared detailed instructions on how to be most efficient with our database.

Pros: Customer service was fast, knowledgeable, and respectful. I never felt like I was asking a dumb question and they always had an answer.

Comments: We' recently started using eTapestry for our nonprofit. We have all of our contacts, clients, donors, volunteers and others stored in the program. We absolutely love it!

Pros: We really like that so much is customizable. We were able to work with the set up team to make the program exactly how we needed it to work. I love that I can still go in and add things that I need or get rid of things we don't track anymore.

Cons: It would be nice to have one area that was a simple biography on a donor instead of having several notes to look at.

Comments: I have used the software in my work for a nonprofit 501 c 3 organization. eTapestry has a clear, intuitive structure that is also easy to personalize. I feel like information that before was spread out over our intranet, email marketing software, and donor database system is now together in one place for streamlined communication.

Pros: Easy to use, offers personalization, organizes complex information simply

Cons: The "Help" section can be confusing. You can easily end up looking up with answers that pertain to other Blackbaud products and tracing your way back to eTapestry specifically can be confusing.

Pros: The product is easy to use, intuitive, and very easy to manipulate into reporting what you need to know. The vendor offers so many amazing training courses and really set's you up for success.

Cons: eTapestry is the Jr. version of bigger, badder products so there are a few limitations. DIY forms aren't very eye catching.

Recommendations to other buyers: We went with eTapestry because our fundraising efforts are in the beginning stages and it was the best fit for our budget. As I have learned more and explored user defined fields, I have come to realize what a great product eTapestry is. When shopping around, take the time to do demonstrations, and come to the table with a list of functions you NEED, and a list of things that would be nice.

Comments: I've successfully recommended (and often purchased, converted and protocoled) this particular tool on eight different occasions. It is easy to use (I can get a volunteer using it within 30 minutes), has loads of great features and is flexible enough to suit a wide range of organizations. While I agree that customer service has been spotty since Blackbaud acquired it, it is possible to request a more experienced person to assist you if you find yourself getting frustrated. An all round great product.

Pros: The best part of using eTapestry is the all-around ease of navigation and training. The software is laid out in a logical format, simple to customize to fit your needs and show you the numbers you really need to know. The Blackbaud training for eTapestry is outstanding. There are recorded webinars, an online community center, an online manual, live webinars that are interactive so you can practice what you are learning, and more.

Cons: What I like least about the product is the need to continually upgrade if you want more features.

Recommendations to other buyers: 1) Don't let your sole deciding factor be cost. Sometimes it's necessary to spend a little more to have a platform that does everything you need. 2) Be sure to gather all staff who would use the software and listen to their feedback. If you aren't going to be the one who is using the software day to day, find the people that are and rely on their opinions. 3) Consider the add-ons you may need. Often times they will not be a recurring purchase, like the training module. Once staff is trained, you don't have to pay for it year after year.

Pros: Product has been greatly improved. Functionality runs deep. While it's not the most intuitive product out there, the in-depth reporting and mass update options make it a boon to productivity and useful information for us fundraisers.

Cons: Some added features are not what they should be. Reporting not as intuitive as it could be. Process for entering donations and running receipts is a bit more cumbersome than it needs to be.

Recommendations to other buyers: When I doubt, go with the deeper-featured, longer-existing product. I'm now paying the same price for Bloomerang as I paid for eTapestry. In hindisght, I probably wouldn't have switched. Bloomerang is beautiful and snappy to use, but lacks basic productivity features like mass update. At the very least, the lost functionality I've experienced due to switching should equate to a lower price for Bloomerang but it doesn't.

Pros: eTapestry is capable of doing everything I need in donor software. It is complex enough to analyze data to help guide my fundraising efforts while being easy enough to use that I was able to start doing basic functions from day 1. In addition, eTapestry provides access to training opportunities from basic to advanced that makes me confident that I will be able to master the software. Their support, one-on-one and through videos, webinars, etc., is impressive. I always feel that they want me to succeed and will do whatever they can to help.

Cons: So far, don't have a lot of negative to say. They have had a bit of trouble getting my billing straight, however I think that's primarily due to my situation being a bit odd (I am technically a consultant, but still head of the Foundation. Makes billing a bit odd).

Recommendations to other buyers: Take advantage of all of the opportunities to take them for a test drive! Take the time - it will pay off in the end. There are many good products out there; after trying several of them, I believe that eTapestry is the best for my organization's needs.

Pros: The eTapestry system is by far the best we've ever used. There are many things to like including: the dashboard with its sophisticated look that integrates all of the important information in on place, which makes it simple to focus on important things like delivering programs. Our old system didn't work well, especially when we needed to pull information from it. Reporting in eTapestry is quick and it looks really professional. So far, everyone we've had to provide information to, such as accountants, counselors, and so forth, are really impressed with how the information is presented to them. Last but not least, the diy forms are a godsend. They've raised us to a whole new level in regards to our tax receipting, registration forms, and mail outs! Perhaps the greatest thing we've enjoyed using eTapestry is the caliber of service we've received from every member of the team.

Cons: So far there's nothing we don't like, but I do have some suggestions. First of all, for the diy forms, we are using one for program registrations that have a fee - the donation form seemed to be the best fit. It would be ideal for us if we could either change the wording from "donation amount" and "donation frequency" to "payment amount" and "payment frequency", or provide us with the options for wording because we don't want those who are registering to be confused about the fee because it's not a donation. Secondly, in the diy forms, where we have multiple options for users to check off, it would be ideal if we could create columns so that the form isn't too long. Finally, because we are using some of the diy forms for program registrations and we deliver programs to families, it would be ideal for us if we could have a form where participants could put in the names of their family members and those names would generate separate constituents in the database. For instance, a mother signs up for a program with her two kids. All have the same contact information, but the health information is different for all three. Currently, people have to do the form several times - once for each family member.

Recommendations to other buyers: Spend some time using the product and get familiar with all of the features first.
