I would not change to another EMR since the product has come so far, and allows customization on the fly without having to have a programmer do it for me. The way they use "assessments" to allow me to save any thought process I have to be stored with knowledge, and then reused for another patient is invaluable. In family medicine we have to deal with many conditions and many by the way issues as the visit is ending, such as I am doing foreign travel and need meds. I can have an assessment saved for travel meds saved, and bring them all up for review instantaneously so I can help the patient without taking excessive time. Conditions that I see rarely can also be saved for use with other patients, both making it easier to chart as well as to refresh my memory as to how I handled a similar case in the past. Pros I feel like I almost have a personal relationship with support, in that it is extremely easy to communicate with them to get the help I need. I have used this program for many years including a lab interface with Quest since 2007, so I can just pull up a flow chart in front of the patient to show them how their labs have been for almost the last 20 years instantaneously. The program also allows me to organize the chronic conditions and be able to come back to them visit after visit. It also has great links, so If I want to see what was happening when I see a change in the labs several years ago, a single click will immediately take me to that visit. Cons When I first purchased praxis EMR it was on the forefront of EMRs back in the 1990s, and I have seen it progress from a primitive type system to an extremely robust system. I wish that it had the full functionality that it has now and the speed it has now back then. I'd like to know a lot more about it but haven't had time for a formal study; however, there are tutorials on line that help. Pros EMR programs are quite complex. Praxis has laid out the screens and links in a manner that make my job much easier than it might have been. I had some problems due to my being new at EMRs and the complexity of the data we enter. The Praxis help desk has been a real asset. The people have been very friendly and helpful. They remembered my Dr even after a number of years or her not contactying them - good feeling! I very much appreciate that there is no charge for their help, unlike many other software suppliers costing as much as $200 per hour. Keep up the good work. Cons Its not Praxis' fault, but the remote connection can be quite slow. I started with computers in 1957 - talk about SLOW, once Praxis starts it is very fast except occasionally when I know it is searching a giant data base.. Charting no longer feels like a constant battle and I actually finish my notes on time. Going back to my old EHR isn’t even something I’d consider. Pros What I like most about Praxis is that it learns how I practice. Instead of forcing me into endless clicking, and it adapts to my clinical thinking and style. Over time, charting has gotten faster and more accurate, and I spend less time fighting the system. I’m able to focus on my patients instead of the screen, which has made my days feel more manageable and far less frustrating. Pleased with overall performance of this EHR. It just keeps on getting better and better. Pros The logic of the concept processor which allows me to build my assessments based on the way that I think. It helps me take better care of my patients. Customer service is excellent. I have spoken to the \[sensitive content hidden\] many times and he listened to my input. Price is competitive for an EHR. Cons I wish it had AI embedded in it and they are currently working on it and I can't wait for it to come out to streamline my charting. Because it is customizable, I am able to create a written handout for each patient which I provide at each visit. At the next visit, I can open the prior handout which is easily be updated, so I can provide written instructions for patients with their personalized plan and "to do" list. Patients really love this feature! Pros I especially like that Praxis EMR is customizable. As a primary care physician, I'm able to tailor the EMR specifically to optimize its use in my practice. Also, customer support is top-notch. The Praxis trainer who originally taught me how to use Praxis continues makes herself available for any questions I have. Cons Several years ago, Praxis EMR sometimes ran slowly; however, this was corrected by moving from my office server to the cloud, and since the "C-sharp" upgrade a couple years ago, Praxis responds even faster.
