I'd like to know a lot more about it but haven't had time for a formal study; however, there are tutorials on line that help. Pros EMR programs are quite complex. Praxis has laid out the screens and links in a manner that make my job much easier than it might have been. I had some problems due to my being new at EMRs and the complexity of the data we enter. The Praxis help desk has been a real asset. The people have been very friendly and helpful. They remembered my Dr even after a number of years or her not contactying them - good feeling! I very much appreciate that there is no charge for their help, unlike many other software suppliers costing as much as $200 per hour. Keep up the good work. Cons Its not Praxis' fault, but the remote connection can be quite slow. I have had calls from the marketing team to be sure that the program is working well. I have worked on several EMRs at different facilities where I operate. Those bigger programs are behemoths, clunky and frustrating! Praxis puts power in the hands of the providers. Pros The ease of use and ability to manage/update templates as I am using the program is the best part of the program. I can learn something new, and add it to my template that afternoon! As a provider, I can tell it was created by a practitioner and not just an IT team. Cons Praxis is way smarter than I am! I get caught in my old ways and still have a lot of power I could access from the program. Wish all surgical facilities that I work had Praxis as well. I can mold the EMR experience to what I want, and then when I think of other things to do, it is available for me, or the staff makes it available. Pros The ability to mold it to what I want as a physician user. You see, a physician can either mold their way of charting to the EMR or the EMR can be molded to the physician's way of charting. Praxis allows the physician to mold the EMR to their own way of charting. This is superb. Cons That I did not know about it sooner. It would have taken lots of time off my charting had I known of it sooner. That leads to much greater efficiency managing patients, taking quality notes, laboratory interface, navigation through the various tasks of med refills, incorporation of lab values into the record in a streamlined fashion. There are lots of ways to interact securely with the patient portal to deliver information and answer questions as well. I've never dealt with a company that cares so much about my needs. The staff are kind and attentive, and Dr. Low's enthusiasm is absolutely infectious. I just started using Praxis' Practice Advisories and Queries and I can see that the possibilities are endless. My practice will never be the same. Pros I'm so impressed with Praxis' MIPS functionality. I just finished my submission and it was so easy. Praxis knows when a measure is relevant to my patients and when it is not. I got full credit with a single click by accepting my measures into the record. With my last EMRs when I forgot to do MIPs they would ding me, with Praxis that's not even possible. Praxis just saved me a major headache and is putting money back in my pocket! Cons I had to take some time getting to know the software and building a knowledge base, but the Trainers were really great. After the first week or so it just clicked and I've never looked back. I have used it to generate reports to bill chronic care management. Now I have revised the query to generate reports to bill advanced primary care management with social determinants of health which allows me to provide this service for patients and keep my records for audits. Pros Flexibility. Allows a clinic to design it to do a lot of things. It has advanced SQL capability which allows me to run queries on my custom data to produce reports to enhance patient care and services. Cons No dissatisfaction with the EMR. I actually enjoy working with it, which I never thought I’d say about an EHR! If you want an EHR that helps you work faster and smarter, Praxis is a great option. Pros Working in a busy multi-physician practice, I’ve used three EHR systems, and Praxis is the best. It’s like having a scribe built right into the software, except you don’t have to hire anyone or deal with the extra expense which by the way is expensive. As we use it, Prtaxis learns from how we work and adapts to our needs, which makes everything so much faster and easier. What I love most is that Praxis is that it’s easy to use and it's adaptable. Other systems force you into rigid workflows that slow you down, but with Praxis it feels like it’s tailored to the user’s personality. It remembers how each of the doctors likes to chart and keeps improving. It’s incredibly intuitive and feels natural to work with overall. Cons Overall, Praxis has been positive. Pros Each encounter in Praxis looks exactly the way I want it to look for each patient, rather than like I checked off a canned information sheet. Praxis remembers how I want to document and manage each kind of diagnosis, easily integrates different diagnoses into the same encounter note, and remembers how I describe any unique chronic findings for each patient so I don't have to re-enter them. It can do flowcharts, user-defined variables, health maintenance reminders, and I can program situationally-triggered reminders to myself or others. Cons I have no dislikes, in contrast to the several job-related institutional EMRs that I have used in the past. Medical Director Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Comparison of EMR's" May 25, 2021 5.0 To have been so fortunate to have been able to first use then compare Praxis to the EMR's used by the clinics that I've worked out of but let me use Praxis has really opened my eyes to what make a great EMR Pros Praxis (an EMR/ EHR, developed by a practicing doctor) thinks like a doctor, the best example that I give, is, I took over a retiring physicians practice, upon seeing one of his patients, I turned to the paper note which simply read; "Diabetes, well controlled" Interesting enough, upon turning to the lab section of the paper chart, I saw a signed and dated lab sheet that read; -A1c 6.8 -renal function (all within normal vaules) -Ldl was 68 Next, turning to the Specialist tab, I found, once again, a signed and dated ophthalmologist note that denoted a normal retinal exam, while the podiatric exam also was normal. For Dr Tate, "Diabetes, well controlled", meant the A1c was < 7, the renal function was normal, an up to date and normal diabetic eye and feet exam had recently been done. It also represented the normal review of system, examination, Assessment and Plan. Unlike template EM/EHR's, Praxis, documents the way a doctor thinks, imagine an EMR that upon picking the Assessment; "Diabetes, well controlled", then prints out all the above, including all the CPT's and ICD codes (all at the speed of thought) (not taking 6 clicks to simply send a referral), sending the billing, referrals and lab orders I'm currently in a very unique position, the company I work for, uses "Epic" (there is now way it was developed by a doctor, it takes several clicks and each click is taking your doctor away from facing the patient) to write one prescription, a good EMR does not, Praxis does not Cons It's hard for me to really give a negative statement about Praxis (remember, in the last three years, I've had to use three different EMR's that are used in the hospitals, SNF or adjoining clinics, Praxis is so head and shoulders above (it's almost laughable seeing there inefficiencies) Switched from [NextGen Office](https://www.capterra.com/p/31268/NextGen-Ambulatory-EHR/) cost, slowness and inefficacies Review Source SB Steven B. My staff used to complain about how rigid the prior EMRs were. Some were very slow. I don't hear those concerns anymore since using Praxis. Pros As a small medical practice, I have used multiple EMR platforms from small now defunct companies to the mega companies that dominate the hospital world. I have been a Praxis user for several years and am thoroughly pleased with my decision to select Praxis. The platform is unlike any other EMR that I have seen. The ability for Praxis to be molded to the needs of my practice has separated this product from the rest. The notes get smarter as we continue to use them by taking advantage of prior encounters using the same assessment. I was able to transition from a prior inferior EMR very quickly. The training team was excellent and at times we were more of a partnership in customizing to what I needed for my practice. My practice involves very complex patients, research visits, diagnostics, and other patient interaction types. While some of my needs were not built in to the program, the team worked with me quickly to come up with good solutions. Cons All programs continue to evolve. Praxis has been doing well to address their clients needs with periodic enhanced upgrades. Reason for choosing Praxis EMR I was impressed with the online materials about Praxis that helped me better understand what makes it unique. I also spoke with others who have used it to get a one on one opportunity to ask my questions about it. Reviews are tricky to use as many are usually very negative from disgruntled people and in general I shy away from these. I am not a fan of bashing specific companies in a review so I have opted not to publicly discuss the prior EMRs that I have used. The company works very hard to please. Pros Praxis is far better than what the company tells you. Praxis is the closest thing to artificial intelligence for a physician that I have every seen. The design of the program is far more powerful than what the company realizes. The design of Praxis allows generalist practice such a family medicine or general internal medicine practice to deal with generality. The design of Praxis allow allows a specialty practice in a highly regulated industry to design and use notes which are powerful, flexible, and consistent. The implementation of the program is done in a socratic method by a personal tutor who addressed my questions for months on end, and who is readily available to answer my questions. Any physician who is logical and motivated can program Praxis. If you have aspirations to have superior medical care, then use Praxis Cons The Praxis corporation is far too modest about the power of product. I do not believe that the company fully realizes how good their product is. I do not believe that company fully realizes how truly exceptional their trainer, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] is. Praxis should be the industry standard by which all other electronic medical records are measured. Reason for choosing Praxis EMR The ratings for Praxis were consistently superior. MD Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "A great emr that will keep improving your pratice, keep improving your speed, and save you time" August 27, 2020 5.0 The overall Praxis experience has been fantastic. I wanted an EMR that would grow and flow with the way I think and mature with my clinical acumen and practice, and I found it with Praxis! Praxis is my best friend and has kept me enjoying my practice. I am saving anywhere from $24,000 to $36,000 a year by using Praxis EMR, and the system gives me immense pleasure every day just charting. Other EMRs I've seen keep changing the layout, without improving the system. Praxis just gets better over time. Pros Praxis is an EMR that leanrs the way you think and keeps getting better the more you use it. Praxis will keep saving you an immense amount of time. It makes MIPS easy to do because the reporting can be incorporated in your assessment. You don't need a separate person doing it for you. Praxis will remind you when you need to do certain tests such as a lung nodule, it will remind you about repeating a CT scan or chest X-Ray in a year. What other EMR software does that? As you learn new treatment modalities once you teach Praxis, it will bring it up in any similar clinical setting. It's amazing. Praixs is like training your own PA, but better than humans, Praxis will never make a mistake. Cons There is always help online within minutes for any issue, it is only click away. The Praxis engineers are excellent and are there for you in a blink of an eye To get started, you need to be trained by Praxis, and they have excellent trainers. They are always there to help you and improve the process as Praxis comes as empty canvas at first. Much like art, as you begin drawing on it, you keep improving the painting. Orthopedic Surgeon Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "20+ year Praxis user" August 23, 2020 5.0 As an early adopter of new technology back in late 90s, I began to integrate voice recognition which was Kurzweil, now dragon, and praxis EMR. For the first several years I had a love-hate relationship with this technology. As I look back I did not spend enough time making the program work for me in my practice. But I did know that it helped with my transcription costs and I was able to realize how to document in order for me not to get denied the services I rendered to my patients. The pressure to use the EMRs was turned up about 10 years ago by insurance companies trying to deny payment for lack of documentation, Worker's Compensation insurance companies could not get enough of paper documentation, and the Medicare push was beginning. The praxis team has worked diligently to improve this electronic medical record software to become helpful with dealing with the government rules and regulations, new twists on insurance requirements, and providing education. At the orthopedic trade shows I have seen products that seem very slick, but after quizzing them on costs, integration with your billing software, customizability, and other intricacies that praxis has already seen and dealt with, there was no need to go to a major expense to try another product. Pros After understanding the concept processing. the ability to customize and make the program work for me and my practice. It is not a cut and paste or a T-sheet (popular back in the day). It gave me more time to spend with my patients and not as data entry clerk. eliminated transcription costs, improved accuracy in billing and level of service. Integrated with my office management software. Cons As with anything new back 20 years ago, it was all strange and new. Now with upgrades and enhancements I cannot think of any. MD Medical Practice Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "A breath of fresh air" April 9, 2024 5.0 An excellent Dr. friendly EMR. As a busy Dr. who works 12 hour days, it is very efficient. Pros I was send private practice and use Praxis. 8 years ago I joined UCI Medical Center and had to use epic. After that I have decided to go back into private practice and use Praxis. Epic is a very large program made to run radiology, lab, universities etc., but it Is not very user-friendly for doctors. It seems like epic was written by attorneys. For example, if I ordered something in epic and wanted to change it, I can just delete the water. I have to use a drop-down list of reasons (such as ordered in error, duplicate order, etc.). That's just one example of the inefficiency in epic. Writing orders for anything in epic takes 3 times as long as Praxis. Praxis is very efficient at charting, ordering medications labs MRIs etc. I do use Praxis in a somewhat template oriented fashion which I prefer. It interface is well with transcription and voice-activated dictation. Cons There is nothing I like the least about Praxis, Especially the current version.
