Pros What I like most about Praxis is that it learns how I practice. Instead of forcing me into endless clicking, and it adapts to my clinical thinking and style. May 16, 2025 5.0 Cannot say enough about the personalized experience I have had with Praxis. I have had calls from the program developer and even met with him in person. I have had calls from the marketing team to be sure that the program is working well. I have worked on several EMRs at different facilities where I operate. Those bigger programs are behemoths, clunky and frustrating! Praxis puts power in the hands of the providers. Pros The ease of use and ability to manage/update templates as I am using the program is the best part of the program. I can learn something new, and add it to my template that afternoon! As a provider, I can tell it was created by a practitioner and not just an IT team. Cons Praxis is way smarter than I am! I get caught in my old ways and still have a lot of power I could access from the program. Wish all surgical facilities that I work had Praxis as well. I've never dealt with a company that cares so much about my needs. The staff are kind and attentive, and Dr. Low's enthusiasm is absolutely infectious. I just started using Praxis' Practice Advisories and Queries and I can see that the possibilities are endless. My practice will never be the same. Pros I'm so impressed with Praxis' MIPS functionality. I just finished my submission and it was so easy. Praxis knows when a measure is relevant to my patients and when it is not. I got full credit with a single click by accepting my measures into the record. With my last EMRs when I forgot to do MIPs they would ding me, with Praxis that's not even possible. Praxis just saved me a major headache and is putting money back in my pocket! Pros The ability to mold it to what I want as a physician user. You see, a physician can either mold their way of charting to the EMR or the EMR can be molded to the physician's way of charting. Praxis allows the physician to mold the EMR to their own way of charting. This is superb. Cons That I did not know about it sooner. Pros Super flexible, allows me to create my own unique EMR to match my practice. That leads to much greater efficiency managing patients, taking quality notes, laboratory interface, navigation through the various tasks of med refills, incorporation of lab values into the record in a streamlined fashion. I could not ask for better customer support and value for my money to make my work flow easier. There are lots of ways to interact securely with the patient portal to deliver information and answer questions as well. Because it is customizable, I am able to create a written handout for each patient which I provide at each visit. At the next visit, I can open the prior handout which is easily be updated, so I can provide written instructions for patients with their personalized plan and "to do" list. Patients really love this feature! Pros I especially like that Praxis EMR is customizable. As a primary care physician, I'm able to tailor the EMR specifically to optimize its use in my practice. Also, customer support is top-notch. The Praxis trainer who originally taught me how to use Praxis continues makes herself available for any questions I have. Cons Several years ago, Praxis EMR sometimes ran slowly; however, this was corrected by moving from my office server to the cloud, and since the "C-sharp" upgrade a couple years ago, Praxis responds even faster. Cons Since we started using Praxis in 1999, there were challenges then inasmuch as EMR software was still in its infancy, but needless to say, Praxis successfully evolved over the years to cope with the necessary updates. I switched to ModMed for less that two years from Praxis because I was encourage by professional colleagues I trusted to make the switch after I lost a key billing employee. I was looking for a product that had the functionality and feel of Praxis EHR for writing notes with integrated billing. I was fooled by the Modernizing Medicine title and ModMed hid certain missing critical elements of their product. No leaving voice mails, no call backs, no being on hold for hours. , Cons I looked at PRAXIS over 25 years ago but went with SOAPWARE by DOC's instead. That one is now defunct as so so many others became following mandated implantation requirements by ONC and other federal agencies. Praxis had the knowledge, talent and determination to keep moving forward to serve the providers, their number one priority back then and remains that way today. It allows me to write intelligible notes that specialists and my co-workers can use, while tracking data in the way that suits the practice at the time (which changes frequently based on medical, government, ACO and insurance evolution). Family Ptractice Physician Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "purchased more than 25 years ago (July 1997) I have seen it grow, improve, and stay in business" January 16, 2024 5.0 I have seen it go from a single user program to a very robust program that has allowed reliable and rapid chart notes, with multiple users Pros I can organize my note by condition or long term condition, and have them all combine together in a recognizable note, that dosen't have to go through technical support to get there. Cons I initially couldn't see how wonderful the program is to work with a patient, until I had seen their labs come back, and had vital sign history. For example, I had a patient who had seen another doctor in the practice and told me they were a bordeline diabetic. I pulled up a flow chart and showed them that no they had met the criteria for diabetes 3 1/2 years ago and showed them all the A1c's they had done for the last 10 years. The medication history appears on a table, and I can find a med, scroll back in the table, and then click any time it appears, and go directly to that note. Until the patient has had labs done that are integrated, for example on a demo, you can't see how nicely this actually works. Reason for choosing Praxis EMR I found that some of them were more hype and not really as easy to use as the actors they hired for the trade shows made it look like, or the one I traveled to see had they programmer who wrote the program onsite , whiche wouldn't have been available to me. Later when my partners wanted to look at other EMRs, I didn't find any that were really as robust or as physician useful. Many require expensive support to get what praxis can do on the fly. Praxis allows wone to save any "thought process" as a single word, then can be added to any note for another patient in the future by saving that "with knowledge". For example, I created a note to prescribe paxlovid for covid19 and saved it. Later, all I had to do was enter paxlovid as a med, and the program gave me that option to add that note to the current or a new note. I could get there eitheir by chosing the drug, or by chosing an assessment. If I had a less common disease that I had treated a few years before, and saved the assessment with knowldge, I could bring back exactly what I did with a single click, including any handouts that may have bee associated with the condition, lab and x-ray work up or anything else I wanted to use. It also has built in SQL that the user can use for research or to find certain patients or to use however you want. Review Source Roger T. This product I call a manual AI and have endless capability and development. While a majority of my colleagues are BURNED out as documented by numerous articles and a recent publication by AMA we see almost half of physicians planning to exit within 2 years \[sensitive content hidden\] , I continue to be OPTIMISTIC and feel like I am just starting. This technology tool is really mind boggling. As a Geriatrician Internist handling complicated multiple medical issues Praxis gives me supreme confidence and satisfaction on what I do. WE ALSO consistently score within the top 1 to 3 in our quality measures in our network because of Praxis Pros I am a user since 2000 though the product was bought in 1999. It can efficiently record and document information better than Nabla or a background recorder. Cons None worth mentioning at this time . I had seen demos from other EMR's such as Athena, Ambient AI like Nabla and I am done with documentation using Praxis immediately. MD Medical Practice Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Thanks PRAXIS for an excellent product" October 26, 2018 5.0 The most important step with starting out with PRAXIS is to realize that you will come with baggage, bad habits and workarounds from using your prior EMR and it is best to spend some time in identifying them and do not carry them into your implementation of PRAXIS. Pros A clean interface that allows me to do what I want without having to look thru multiple panels of non relevant information, poke thru menu lists or buttons. This really reduces operator fatigue , frustration leaving me fresh for the rest of the day. All list boxes have a superb and fast search input line at the top a couple of keystrokes and I have what I want, no need to scroll thru endless lists. I had been using another EMR and had developed habits that were causing me to duplicate work while writing a note. On starting with PRAXIS I had to look at what I was doing and ask myself " What is the essence of this encounter, what defines it" This was the hardest step because it involved changes in my behavior, and once this was done, and it did not take long to get up and running. I had been using templates before and they were huge structures that fit no encounter, they had to be modified, whittled into shape on the fly. PRAXIS solves the problem by having smaller elements of a note which are rapidly assembled into the structure without any editing because each element is the essence. I can get a note for a diabetic exam including a foot exam before seeing the next patient. PRAXIS has a tremendous amount of automation, that diabetic patient will get an automatic recall for labs in x months. Support is excellent, there is an online portal where questions are answered. I have used this on many occasions and response is quick and interactive. Someone , is replying to your questions within a minute and since it is a two way conversation you do not get a "canned" answer. I have PRAXIS on my in house server, apparently 80% of users prefer the on line hosted version. I have used both and can find no difference in speed or utility. I will eventually migrate to hosted online version. This involves overnighting the drive to PRAXIS and you are up and running. Cons Nothing, it has been a great improvement over my last EMR. I can get notes completed within a few minutes of seeing a patient with diagnoses that carry appropriate RAF scores for the patients problems. Review Source AT Anil T. MD Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "A great emr that will keep improving your pratice, keep improving your speed, and save you time" August 27, 2020 5.0 The overall Praxis experience has been fantastic. I wanted an EMR that would grow and flow with the way I think and mature with my clinical acumen and practice, and I found it with Praxis! Praxis is my best friend and has kept me enjoying my practice. I am saving anywhere from $24,000 to $36,000 a year by using Praxis EMR, and the system gives me immense pleasure every day just charting. Other EMRs I've seen keep changing the layout, without improving the system. Praxis just gets better over time. Pros Praxis is an EMR that leanrs the way you think and keeps getting better the more you use it. Praxis will keep saving you an immense amount of time. It makes MIPS easy to do because the reporting can be incorporated in your assessment. You don't need a separate person doing it for you. Praxis will remind you when you need to do certain tests such as a lung nodule, it will remind you about repeating a CT scan or chest X-Ray in a year. What other EMR software does that? As you learn new treatment modalities once you teach Praxis, it will bring it up in any similar clinical setting. It's amazing. Praixs is like training your own PA, but better than humans, Praxis will never make a mistake. Cons There is always help online within minutes for any issue, it is only click away. The Praxis engineers are excellent and are there for you in a blink of an eye To get started, you need to be trained by Praxis, and they have excellent trainers. They are always there to help you and improve the process as Praxis comes as empty canvas at first. Much like art, as you begin drawing on it, you keep improving the painting. If you don't want to spend the time teaching Praxis you can import medical knowledge from a similar provider or practice. Most of all the money you save is immense. Review Source GD George D. Orthopedic Surgeon Medical Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "20+ year Praxis user" August 23, 2020 5.0 As an early adopter of new technology back in late 90s, I began to integrate voice recognition which was Kurzweil, now dragon, and praxis EMR. For the first several years I had a love-hate relationship with this technology. As I look back I did not spend enough time making the program work for me in my practice. But I did know that it helped with my transcription costs and I was able to realize how to document in order for me not to get denied the services I rendered to my patients. The pressure to use the EMRs was turned up about 10 years ago by insurance companies trying to deny payment for lack of documentation, Worker's Compensation insurance companies could not get enough of paper documentation, and the Medicare push was beginning. The praxis team has worked diligently to improve this electronic medical record software to become helpful with dealing with the government rules and regulations, new twists on insurance requirements, and providing education. At the orthopedic trade shows I have seen products that seem very slick, but after quizzing them on costs, integration with your billing software, customizability, and other intricacies that praxis has already seen and dealt with, there was no need to go to a major expense to try another product. Pros After understanding the concept processing. the ability to customize and make the program work for me and my practice. It is not a cut and paste or a T-sheet (popular back in the day). It gave me more time to spend with my patients and not as data entry clerk. eliminated transcription costs, improved accuracy in billing and level of service. Integrated with my office management software. Cons As with anything new back 20 years ago, it was all strange and new. Now with upgrades and enhancements I cannot think of any. MD Medical Practice Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "A breath of fresh air" April 9, 2024 5.0 An excellent Dr. friendly EMR. As a busy Dr. who works 12 hour days, it is very efficient. Pros I was send private practice and use Praxis. 8 years ago I joined UCI Medical Center and had to use epic. After that I have decided to go back into private practice and use Praxis. Epic is a very large program made to run radiology, lab, universities etc., but it Is not very user-friendly for doctors. It seems like epic was written by attorneys. For example, if I ordered something in epic and wanted to change it, I can just delete the water. I have to use a drop-down list of reasons (such as ordered in error, duplicate order, etc.). That's just one example of the inefficiency in epic. Writing orders for anything in epic takes 3 times as long as Praxis. Praxis is very efficient at charting, ordering medications labs MRIs etc. I do use Praxis in a somewhat template oriented fashion which I prefer. It interface is well with transcription and voice-activated dictation. Cons There is nothing I like the least about Praxis, Especially the current version.
