Worth considering for your next program of charting.

Pros

Since we started to use the Praxis EHR, there has been much improvement. The company is always available to help with any concerns and teach you better ways to use the program.

Cons

As with any program , time is needed to get use to the new way of using EMR.

### "Praxis EMR is Simply the Best"

August 25, 2024

5.0

Pros

Praxis EMR: A Game-Changer for Medical Documentation As a physician with 26 years of private practice experience and having used three different EMRs, I can honestly say that Praxis EMR is, by far the most effective and user-friendly system I’ve found. What really makes Praxis stand out is its customizability. I can create notes in my own words, making my documentation not only clearer but also tailored to the specific needs of my practice. Another major advantage of Praxis is how it streamlines my workflow. Its concept-building feature allows me to quickly set up and document my work in a way that fits my practice about 90% of the time. This minimizes unnecessary clicking and spares me the frustration of dealing with overly complex systems. My scribe also loves working with Praxis too, especially compared to more rigid systems like ModMed. It helps prevent documentation errors and significantly boosts efficiency, which is crucial in a busy practice. When it comes to coding, Praxis makes it simple to integrate and adjust within the documentation process, including adding necessary modifiers. This is a huge improvement over my last system’s often cumbersome coding features and hidden sub-tab screens. Editing notes in Praxis is straightforward and retains the same ease of use as when they were first created. This kind of flexibility is essential in a fast-paced clinic, unlike template systems, where editing can be a headache. Praxis also excels at managing chronic patients, adapting smoothly to their ongoing needs. Its adaptive learning capabilities are impressive; the system "learns" how I think and offers flexible treatment tools based on specific scenarios. Over time, it becomes faster and more efficient, aligning perfectly with my style of practice. One of the biggest time-savers with Praxis is the ability to save and reuse common documentation elements. This feature eliminates the need to repeatedly type out standard phrases, a common frustration with more rigid template based systems. Overall, Praxis has greatly improved the speed and accuracy of my clinic’s documentation. Unlike other systems that force you to adapt to preset templates, Praxis adapts to you, making patient care documentation both more accurate and efficient. If you’re a physician looking to enhance your practice and improve documentation quality, I highly recommend giving Praxis EMR a try. It has truly transformed the way I document my patients and run my clinic.

Cons

No EHR is perfect, and Praxis does require online training but once you get the hang of it, Praxis lets you document far more quickly than the other systems, with far less clicking. This in itself really makes all the difference in the world!

Practice Partner stop developing. I switched to ModMed for less that two years from Praxis because I was encourage by professional colleagues I trusted to make the switch after I lost a key billing employee. I was looking for a product that had the functionality and feel of Praxis EHR for writing notes with integrated billing. I was fooled by the Modernizing Medicine title and ModMed hid certain missing critical elements of their product. ModMed EHR crippled my practice and I have returned back to Praxis, and happy to see further improvements to aid in outsourced billing.

### "Praxis: A unique concept in EHRs"

October 21, 2024

5.0

Praxis has been a dependable EHR. I have been on Praxis for more than 8 years. It has provided a unique experience to customize the patient encounters, instructions, procedure notes, etc. The more you use it, the "smarter" the system becomes because of the information you are able to save into it unique to your individual practice style and desires, even if those change over time. Almost everything about the patient encounters is customizable as you are using it. A fascinating concept.

Pros

I enjoy the flexibility and adaptability of Praxis. Praxis is very adaptable to the individual user's practice style. It is an enjoyable and logical system to use. The concept is ingenious.

Cons

I'm only disappointed that I did not hear about Praxis years earlier! That would have saved me a lot of frustration on template based systems I have used.

### "An EMR That Easily Grows & Changes To Suit My Needs"

December 20, 2023

5.0

Praxis has become an essential partner of my practice, not just a software provider. I know many of the employees and I've even been contacted by the \[sensitive content hidden\] to be sure all was well. My career is over 30 years and I've used probably dozens of EMR programs. I almost universally disliked them all, except Praxis. Praxis is dynamic, flexible, mature, and easily modifiable by end users. It stands far above other EMRs I've used.

Pros

Two major criteria that led me to select Praxis was the following. 1) I hate to repeat myself. I wanted an EMR that allowed me to develop diagnostic and treatment plans that reflect my style of care without having to repeat large groups of text for each patient with similar problems. And 2) I wanted to be certain that all problems are monitored to resolution. Praxis tracks and monitors problems over time and automates patient communication and recall. A perfect solution, and it keeps getting better.

Cons

I've not encountered any major problems or concerns. Should I have any problems, customer support is consistent, reliable and quick.

### "Why I have been using Praxis for many years"

January 15, 2024

5.0

Very responsive support team, and regular upgrades to comply with government regulations.

Pros

Each encounter in Praxis looks exactly the way I want it to look for each patient, rather than like I checked off a canned information sheet. Praxis remembers how I want to document and manage each kind of diagnosis, easily integrates different diagnoses into the same encounter note, and remembers how I describe any unique chronic findings for each patient so I don't have to re-enter them. It can do flowcharts, user-defined variables, health maintenance reminders, and I can program situationally-triggered reminders to myself or others.

Cons

I have no dislikes, in contrast to the several job-related institutional EMRs that I have used in the past.

Reason for choosing Praxis EMR

Customizable data entry and ability to remember unique patient-related and diagnosis-related characteristics.

### "A breath of fresh air"

April 9, 2024

5.0

An excellent Dr. friendly EMR. As a busy Dr. who works 12 hour days, it is very efficient.

Pros

I was send private practice and use Praxis. 8 years ago I joined UCI Medical Center and had to use epic. After that I have decided to go back into private practice and use Praxis. Epic is a very large program made to run radiology, lab, universities etc., but it Is not very user-friendly for doctors. It seems like epic was written by attorneys. For example, if I ordered something in epic and wanted to change it, I can just delete the water. I have to use a drop-down list of reasons (such as ordered in error, duplicate order, etc.). That's just one example of the inefficiency in epic. Writing orders for anything in epic takes 3 times as long as Praxis. Praxis is very efficient at charting, ordering medications labs MRIs etc. I do use Praxis in a somewhat template oriented fashion which I prefer. It interface is well with transcription and voice-activated dictation.

Cons

There is nothing I like the least about Praxis, Especially the current version.

### "Manual Artificial intelligence "

February 2, 2024

5.0

As a 24 year user (since 2000), the product have improved leaps and bounds. This product I call a manual AI and have endless capability and development. While a majority of my colleagues are BURNED out as documented by numerous articles and a recent publication by AMA we see almost half of physicians planning to exit within 2 years \[sensitive content hidden\] , I continue to be OPTIMISTIC and feel like I am just starting. This technology tool is really mind boggling. As a Geriatrician Internist handling complicated multiple medical issues Praxis gives me supreme confidence and satisfaction on what I do. WE ALSO consistently score within the top 1 to 3 in our quality measures in our network because of Praxis

Pros

I am a user since 2000 though the product was bought in 1999. It can efficiently record and document information better than Nabla or a background recorder.

Cons

None worth mentioning at this time . I had seen demos from other EMR's such as Athena, Ambient AI like Nabla and I am done with documentation using Praxis immediately. As predicted with this product I am capable even increasing my patient load 25 to 30%.

### "Comparison of EMR's"

May 25, 2021

5.0

To have been so fortunate to have been able to first use then compare Praxis to the EMR's used by the clinics that I've worked out of but let me use Praxis has really opened my eyes to what make a great EMR

Pros

Praxis (an EMR/ EHR, developed by a practicing doctor) thinks like a doctor, the best example that I give, is, I took over a retiring physicians practice, upon seeing one of his patients, I turned to the paper note which simply read; "Diabetes, well controlled" Interesting enough, upon turning to the lab section of the paper chart, I saw a signed and dated lab sheet that read; -A1c 6.8 -renal function (all within normal vaules) -Ldl was 68 Next, turning to the Specialist tab, I found, once again, a signed and dated ophthalmologist note that denoted a normal retinal exam, while the podiatric exam also was normal. For Dr Tate, "Diabetes, well controlled", meant the A1c was < 7, the renal function was normal, an up to date and normal diabetic eye and feet exam had recently been done. It also represented the normal review of system, examination, Assessment and Plan. Unlike template EM/EHR's, Praxis, documents the way a doctor thinks, imagine an EMR that upon picking the Assessment; "Diabetes, well controlled", then prints out all the above, including all the CPT's and ICD codes (all at the speed of thought) (not taking 6 clicks to simply send a referral), sending the billing, referrals and lab orders I'm currently in a very unique position, the company I work for, uses "Epic" (there is now way it was developed by a doctor, it takes several clicks and each click is taking your doctor away from facing the patient) to write one prescription, a good EMR does not, Praxis does not

Cons

It's hard for me to really give a negative statement about Praxis (remember, in the last three years, I've had to use three different EMR's that are used in the hospitals, SNF or adjoining clinics, Praxis is so head and shoulders above (it's almost laughable seeing there inefficiencies)

### "PRAXIS - The only AI (Concept Processor) EMR... THAT LEARNS FROM THE USER."

January 13, 2024

5.0

My experience with Praxis has been nothing short of AMAZING. Is it perfect? NO!!! BUT, what Praxis has is something I have NEVER experienced with any other EMR and that is that it's corporate philosophy is that its clients are the teachers and Praxis is the student. Praxis will always be the leader because they understand that the clients and users are the most important part of their relationship moving forward and \[sensitive content hidden\] is wholly dedicated to making Praxis the PREMIER EMR from the perspective of the client and he will accept nothing short of that.

Pros

The reviews pulled me in. The \[sensitive content hidden\] is a physician whose integrity is second to none who has cultivated a corporate atmosphere commensurate with their mission of servicing the front line medical providers to facilitate the physician-patient relationship, improve quality of care specific to each individual user, improve and streamline the documentation process while protecting providers from malpractice events in the process, all while allowing the provider to document encounters the way they practice medicine instead of forcing the provider to change the way they practice medicine to fit the preconceived format of the EMR and MACROs. Praxis is simply the MOST COMPREHENSIVE, MOST FLEXIBLE, MOST ADAPTIVE ( on the fly ), MOST TRANSFORMATIVE Electronic Medical Records Program currently on the market. Praxis incorporates your own verbiage into every note and there are no pre-loaded MACROs composed of someone else's words. Instead, Praxis uses selectable discreet variables that can be incorporated throughout the note that can be used to change the meaning of sentences or entire paragraphs to appropriately document the entire encounter, all of which is completely adaptive on the fly so if you change it once, it will forever be a selectable option for you to use on similar charts moving forward, as applicable. Additionally, Praxis has been designed to be completely searchable meaning that EVERYTHING within Praxis is searchable making Praxis, not only the best EMR for documenting encounters but also the most powerful tool for conducting Outcomes Based Research currently available, enabling researchers to incorporate research questions directly into each unique users note and then cull all the de-identified data directly to the researchers databank automatically without imposing any of these tasks on the front line users. To put it simply, Praxis if the only EMR currently available that was conceived by a physician, specifically designed to improve the physician-patient relationship, facilitate a highly adaptive documentation process in a way that helps to protects user form malpractice issues in multiple ways, facilitates high quality Outcomes Based Research without any additional burden to the front line providers and affords the users with a higher quality of life by streamlining the entirety of the medical documentation process. This EMR will change the practice of medicine and facilitating physicians retaking control of their profession on every level.

Cons

What I liked the least about Praxis was that Praxis was not my FIRST EMR.

### "Excellent EMR"

July 10, 2020

5.0

Great setup team who teaches how to use the product. Great support when you have questions later. Charting MY way not the way some software designer thinks I should. I cannot stress that point. It is s smooth training process and as you are learning the system you are also setting it up for easier charting at the same time.

Pros

Strong software with a wide range of features for an incredible reasonable price. It grows as you use it so it begins to basically automate your charting more and more as you go. In an office setting it can end up taking care of your charting, prescriptions and patient instructions very quickly and easily. The ability to customize your charting and patient instructions is super valuable. Some other EMRs do not allow that much freedom in the way they work but Praxis lets you do your exams YOUR way. You can organize the notes to the way you are used to charting. Not sure how to do it..no problem, they have the team that will take you through it. Their training team and support are incredible. Tired of trying to manage code for billing? It does it for you. It helps make sure your codes are correct taking a big burden off of you in the charting process.

Cons

I guess something has to go here to complete the review, so, let me think.....I guess it wasn't free...LOL.

Reason for choosing Praxis EMR

Very affordable price for the large amount of features it offers. Nothing else offered as much for such a great price. The people were up front and very helpful. The owner gets personally involved in helping with the decision process and even helped in the training. Again, being able to chart MY way was a necessity and this allows me to do that. Also, they did allow access to videos of the product to let you see if it was even something you are interested in before talking to the sales team. When going through the demo process there was no pressure. Some companies really press with hard sales tactics. Praxis team is friendly and does a good job to present a valuable product and help you decide it is right for you without pressure. They make sure it is your decision and that you will be happy with it.

### "Thanks PRAXIS for an excellent product"

October 26, 2018

5.0

The most important step with starting out with PRAXIS is to realize that you will come with baggage, bad habits and workarounds from using your prior EMR and it is best to spend some time in identifying them and do not carry them into your implementation of PRAXIS.

Pros

A clean interface that allows me to do what I want without having to look thru multiple panels of non relevant information, poke thru menu lists or buttons. This really reduces operator fatigue , frustration leaving me fresh for the rest of the day. All list boxes have a superb and fast search input line at the top a couple of keystrokes and I have what I want, no need to scroll thru endless lists. I had been using another EMR and had developed habits that were causing me to duplicate work while writing a note. On starting with PRAXIS I had to look at what I was doing and ask myself " What is the essence of this encounter, what defines it" This was the hardest step because it involved changes in my behavior, and once this was done, and it did not take long to get up and running. I had been using templates before and they were huge structures that fit no encounter, they had to be modified, whittled into shape on the fly. PRAXIS solves the problem by having smaller elements of a note which are rapidly assembled into the structure without any editing because each element is the essence. I can get a note for a diabetic exam including a foot exam before seeing the next patient. PRAXIS has a tremendous amount of automation, that diabetic patient will get an automatic recall for labs in x months. Support is excellent, there is an online portal where questions are answered. I have used this on many occasions and response is quick and interactive. Someone , is replying to your questions within a minute and since it is a two way conversation you do not get a "canned" answer. I have PRAXIS on my in house server, apparently 80% of users prefer the on line hosted version. I have used both and can find no difference in speed or utility. I will eventually migrate to hosted online version. This involves overnighting the drive to PRAXIS and you are up and running.

Cons

Nothing, it has been a great improvement over my last EMR. I can get notes completed within a few minutes of seeing a patient with diagnoses that carry appropriate RAF scores for the patients problems.

### "Prraxis EMR- A diamond among the pack"

January 26, 2023

5.0

As a solo provider Praxis has allowed me to save valuable charting time, allowed me to expand my clinical data base and easily integrate the administrative functions I needed.

Pros

This EMR is the most flexible and adaptable EMR I have encountered . It is easily tailored to the individual provider, easily edited for individual patient differences and even remembers the chronic problems of each patient. You determine the format rather than being given a set format, Allows for minimal mouse use rather than tying you to a "clicker". Layout is excellent , well organized and intuitive. With this EMR you are not tethered to a template that is difficult to edit and it allows you to edit notes on the fly. Prescribing format allows for individual preferences and is extremely easy to modify to each patient. Allows you to keep private notes which are hidden and diagnostic testing templates can be added at user discretion. You are not stuck with a note that has a lot of useless junk because it allows you to edit the set-up on initial installation and then add or delete as you see fit. User Support is absolutely top notch, real time availability and always had any problem solved with a single call.

Cons

The only thing I have found that could be improved is the product logo. My only desire is an added controlled substance tool but that is already in process .

Reason for choosing Praxis EMR

Looking at the alternatives I found most were too expensive , had a plethora of bells and whistles that made my work load more burdensome . After talking to many other users I found that the support on almost every other EMR was sketchy and occurred only with prolonged waiting.

### "A great emr that will keep improving your pratice, keep improving your speed, and save you time"

August 27, 2020

5.0

The overall Praxis experience has been fantastic. I wanted an EMR that would grow and flow with the way I think and mature with my clinical acumen and practice, and I found it with Praxis! Praxis is my best friend and has kept me enjoying my practice. I am saving anywhere from $24,000 to $36,000 a year by using Praxis EMR, and the system gives me immense pleasure every day just charting. Other EMRs I've seen keep changing the layout, without improving the system. Praxis just gets better over time.

Pros

Praxis is an EMR that leanrs the way you think and keeps getting better the more you use it. Praxis will keep saving you an immense amount of time. It makes MIPS easy to do because the reporting can be incorporated in your assessment. You don't need a separate person doing it for you. Praxis will remind you when you need to do certain tests such as a lung nodule, it will remind you about repeating a CT scan or chest X-Ray in a year. What other EMR software does that? As you learn new treatment modalities once you teach Praxis, it will bring it up in any similar clinical setting. It's amazing. Praixs is like training your own PA, but better than humans, Praxis will never make a mistake.

Cons

There is always help online within minutes for any issue, it is only click away. The Praxis engineers are excellent and are there for you in a blink of an eye To get started, you need to be trained by Praxis, and they have excellent trainers. They are always there to help you and improve the process as Praxis comes as empty canvas at first. Much like art, as you begin drawing on it, you keep improving the painting. If you don't want to spend the time teaching Praxis you can import medical knowledge from a similar provider or practice. Most of all the money you save is immense.

### "Non-Template Based EMR that is customizable just for my needs"

June 5, 2019

5.0

I was in a group practice for 5 years until I resigned last September. During the 5 years in my former group, I was burdened by using E-clinical works - a template based EMR that I absolutely loathed. As an epileptologist, many of my cases have complicated neurological histories that do not necessary fit with a template based EMR documatation. In addition, many of my orders are the same for each patient yet, with E clinical works, I would have to click on the same orders over and over again - wasting time that would accrue over the busy day. Some of the layout of my notes was confusing with a lot of extraneous information added to notes automatically - that had no bearing on the patient care. When I started my new practice, I absolutely did not want to have a template-based system. Lo and behold, I came across Praxis. When I did the demo, it was great that Dr. Loh himself (the CEO and a fellow physician) showed me many of the unique features of Praxis. For the most part, I am so impressed by the concept processor in that many of my cases are somewhat similar to each other in terms of the orders. If I see a case, I automatically just click on the assessment that I have set up for other similar cases and boom - my note automatically populates with the wording and phrasology that I would normally use. I just have to modify some of the details and I save a lot of time this way than having to write the same history over and over again - as I did with Eclinical works.

Pros

\- Ease of Use - Customizable - Saves Time I am very happy with the template-free service. The cost is less than other EMRs (though this is not all in one EHR - I use Open Practice Solutions/Open PM as a practice management system that easily integrates with Praxis - still saving compared to Athena or other comprehensive EHR systems). Customer service is second to none especially with the initial "go live" team.

Cons

nothing so far. I am very happy with Praxis at this time.

### "20+ year Praxis user"

August 23, 2020

5.0

As an early adopter of new technology back in late 90s, I began to integrate voice recognition which was Kurzweil, now dragon, and praxis EMR. For the first several years I had a love-hate relationship with this technology. As I look back I did not spend enough time making the program work for me in my practice. But I did know that it helped with my transcription costs and I was able to realize how to document in order for me not to get denied the services I rendered to my patients. The pressure to use the EMRs was turned up about 10 years ago by insurance companies trying to deny payment for lack of documentation, Worker's Compensation insurance companies could not get enough of paper documentation, and the Medicare push was beginning. The praxis team has worked diligently to improve this electronic medical record software to become helpful with dealing with the government rules and regulations, new twists on insurance requirements, and providing education. At the orthopedic trade shows I have seen products that seem very slick, but after quizzing them on costs, integration with your billing software, customizability, and other intricacies that praxis has already seen and dealt with, there was no need to go to a major expense to try another product.

Pros

After understanding the concept processing. the ability to customize and make the program work for me and my practice. It is not a cut and paste or a T-sheet (popular back in the day). It gave me more time to spend with my patients and not as data entry clerk. eliminated transcription costs, improved accuracy in billing and level of service. Integrated with my office management software.

Cons

As with anything new back 20 years ago, it was all strange and new. Now with upgrades and enhancements I cannot think of any. I wish I went to the cloud version when they asked me to several years ago.

### "Front Desk Staff's POV"

January 11, 2024

5.0

Pros

Expedients my daily work! Praxis returns quick responses which allows me to provide quick answers to questions from patients, payors, referring providers, etc. Display screens are easy to read, easy on the eyes because of fonts and font colors. I esp. appreciate not being distracted by pop ups boxes and extraneous activity on the display screen. For anyone in a clinic that stares at their EMR screen all day, Praxis screens are easy on the eyes.

Cons

That there are not more work stations at the front desk, though that's not really the fault of Praxis. From what I was told, it doesn't cost any extra to add as many work stations in the building that you need.

### "Exceptional EMR Product"

July 1, 2020

5.0

Patient encounters are streamlined and efficient, permitting faster delivery of quality care and increased revenue.

Pros

The program is extremely effective in documenting the physicians' evaluation and management service for individual patients. This EMR has helped make my charting bulletproof in CPT level of service coding audits. Praxis functionality is amazing in capturing point of service charges. It retains each provider's diagnostic approach and level of skill and judgement for any given symptom assessment or specific ICD-10 d aiagnosis for future use and refinement of that clinical setting. The longer you use your knowledge database, the smarter, faster and better you become.

Cons

The fact that providers must learn and apply appropriate documentation criteria for effective CPT coding skills is frequently not as attractive to physicians as the study and practice of medicine. The responsibility for accurately and completely capturing those codes remains the responsibility of the treating provider. Praxis software admirably turns this educational process into a strength of the product as it empowers users to constantly sharpen this skill set with innovative charting for coding capture.

Reason for choosing Praxis EMR

I selected Praxis for its innovative documentation, organized and streamlined to meet evolving quality care indicators while allowing me the time I need to develop a long term rapport with the patient.

### "Best EMR for customization"

June 24, 2019

5.0

With Praxis we are able to maintain independence and get the data we need to take care of our patients excellently while still providing big data answers to Medicare programs and insurers

Pros

Having been involved in implementation of 3 separate EMRs, Praxis satisfies all my requirements the best. It allows me to write intelligible notes that specialists and my co-workers can use, while tracking data in the way that suits the practice at the time (which changes frequently based on medical, government, ACO and insurance evolution). Praxis is my tool for tracking information the way I and others need to, while practicing and charting in a way which makes sense to me.

Cons

I wish the local hospitals were also on Praxis!

Reason for choosing Praxis EMR

We wanted control of our records and billing, and wanted to avoid templates we had to chart around instead of building the data in a way useful to us, our patients and our specialist colleagues. We also wanted the customization of how we bill and interact digitally with labs and other outside agencies such as state immunization programs.

We became the owners of our practice and had the flexibility to make EMR decisions. We needed an EMR that produced useful information in taking care of patients

### "Praxi EMR experince"

August 15, 2023

5.0

Pros

We started using Praxis in 2005, when it was still quite new because its approach to medical record generation was intelligent, adaptable and grew in sophistication and capability as the underlying database grew.

Cons

It's a remarkably lightweight and ultimately intuitive software to use. Unlike template systems, the database from which new records are drawn goes to match the clinical problems encountered in the practice exactly and to adapt to changes in practice as they occur.
