Pros: Considering how inexpensive the software is to use, it is pretty incredible. If you are looking for an inexpensive option, this is the way to go. We can customize our emails, schedule them in the system, and it provides open rate metrics.

Cons: Constant Contact is lacking in functionality and is difficult to use. You can get software that does so much more and is a lot easier to use, but you are going to pay for it. So I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true.

Overall: Automated email campaigns.

Pros: I love the drag and drop/WYSIWYG feature for campaign creation. The system is easy to use, even for non-tech savvy people.

Cons: I wish there were options to see/edit the html and/or easily copy/paste the code into an external email program.

Overall: This software does what we need it to do, accomplishing our goal to send professional looking newsletters to our current and past clients.

Comments: Overall, I would definitely recommend Constant Contact for anyone who sends communication (newletters, price changes, sales, or anything else) to their customers!

Pros: The ability to create different customer groupings makes it easier to send information to specific customers. Building a mailing group is easy. I can schedule mailings to go out after the office closes with ease. The ability to copy a previous mailing to edit for a new mailing ( product pricing, calendar events, etc.) saves a lot of time. The ability to send a test mail before preparing a bulk mailing is very helpful to see the information as the customers will see it; and make any necessary changes.

Cons: Formatting a new mailing from "scratch" was a little tricky for me the first couple of times, but it was well worth the effort!

Pros: Constant Contact is very easy to use, simple point and click functionality. Uploading lists is also very easy and quick. I also like to be able to schedule the date and time that my communications go out.

Cons: Constant Contact seems a little out dated, I'd like to see more bells and whistles to visually enhance my communications. Also I have issues with formatting at times but I must say their tech support is outstanding and just a quick phone call away from solving my issues.

Overall: Saves time and money by sending bulk email communications quickly and without much heavy lifting on my part.

Pros: You can edit almost any email and the add ins are great, you can design and format your own from scratch or fully edit a template. The designs range from basic to extremely complex, with multiple design elements. Managing your contacts, list, and schedule is actually very easy and is one of my favorite parts.

Cons: Emails do not always display to recipients, and some emails filter to spam. Also, it may require a lot of design experience to properly utilize the best aspects of the tool. I usually spend three times the time I intended on a project!

Pros: Constant Contact is a reliable mass emailing solution that has a great scheduling feature with easy asset management

Cons: In recent years, it has gained popularity so that may contribute to the reason why it doesn't get through many spam blockers not.

Overall: Mass emailing solution for nonprofits or businesses of any size!

Comments: A great value for the price.

Pros: The drag and drop functions make campaign creation really simple. I built a template that I can reuse each month with simple customization. There are lots of option blocks for adding features and simple shares with Facebook and LinkedIn. I love being able to customize colors, fonts and graphics so branding is consistent with my website.

Cons: Open, click and bounce rates don't always make sense. I often see that one person has opened the same campaign 10 times and wonder if its been forwarded or if its just a reporting error. I see Bounces show up for those who also opened, so it makes it hard to weed out the old/unused accounts.

Pros: I started using CC when I opened my business in 2004. Because it was one of the first and only email systems at the time, I loved being able to have my list in one place, and I loved that it integrated with my client system.

Cons: Over the years, the software never seemed to catch up with technology. It was not easy to use, emails and layouts were never consistent, sizing pictures rarely came out correctly, the template options were tacky, etc. Last year, we switched to a different company and are much happier with the ease of use.

Pros: They created a template for my organization, which was really helpful and a time saver. I was able to slot in information and move it around as I saw fit.

Cons: The interface with Facebook never works so it¿s disappointing that my newsletter can¿t automatically be posted there.

Pros: This system has been around for years, I've used it for multiple clients in the past. They all had the same response when asked why "this is all I know". It gets the job done. There are now better solutions out there in my opinion that are affordable and can do a little more than what constant contact offers. I will say that they do integrate with a lot and again, are widely known. It's a great solution for some businesses who only need this.

Cons: I did not like the user interface, I know there have been improvements but it just wasn't anything I enjoyed working in.

Pros: I like that I can mass email all the residents (600+) all at once and schedule posts and emails for later. I also like the look of the system.

Comments: An easy product to use for email campaigns, a good overlay to text messaging.

Pros: Many easy features, such as choosing who the email is coming from and where replies are sent. Easy to track contacts who have unsubscribed from your email campaign. The copy feature allows easy use of existing campaign templates.

Cons: Contact lists are limited to 100 emails per list, you have to create a new list if you have more than 100 emails for the same campaign. A little more effort is needed when you first get started to learn how to create and edit templates- many options that may be complex for someone with little experience in marketing.

Pros: I like all the customization options and how inexpensive it is for a premium plan. It is a lot more simple to understand than other similar programs I've used.

Cons: I wish there were more templates and you were table to send campaigns an unlimited time after they were previously sent. I also wish it didn't make a lot of the options premium, like creating an event or promo.

Overall: Quickly make professional and fun emails for clients and staff!

Comments: I personally believe there are better options out there, but I used this platform for eight years and it's serviceable.

Pros: It's easy to use, very intuitive, a user can figure it out pretty quickly. It's affordable and other modules (like events management) can be connected with ease. When I first started using it in 2009, I thought it was great.

Cons: It's a little buggy--like you can't get it to do certain things and you're not sure why--and doesn't look as clean and professional as other email marketing services. When they finally focused on mobile friendly templates, all your previous templates (one of the best tings about it, reusing previous templates) were much harder to use, likely due to the change in technology.

Pros: I like that there are great templates that are easy to customize and you can include Gifs in emails easily, plus there are some provided for you.

Cons: I don't like the pricing, it is too expensive compared to other programs that have many of the same features. There are some glitches that can hold you up during their design too, plus some of the templates are not customizable, you can't switch out photos on some and that is very annoying.

Pros: First and foremost, the customer service available to everyone who uses this product is outstanding. The "coaches" are friendly, helpful, and will take all the time a customer needs to solve an issue. Not that there are too many, as the newest editor is super intuitive and easy for anyone to use! I've tried other email marketing platforms, but keep coming back to Constant Contact. Their event registration tool is by far my favorite tool in the Constant Contact product.

Cons: Even with the event registration tool being my favorite, I would be happier if the landing and registration pages had more options for customization and mobile responsiveness.

Pros: Contant Contact makes it easy for us to send a quick e-mail out to our members. They have everything set up for you, so that you can upload a document, image, and/or video. I love that they give you the option to change the background colors and schedule days and times for the e-mails to be sent out. I love how reliable this software is when it comes to importing contacts and making sure our clients receive the emails on time, I love the statistics it provides us. That has definitely helped our organization improve. Constant Contact is the way to go!

Cons: The new update is a little more time consuming. I have been using Constant Contact for 2 years and getting used to the new update has been a bit frustrating. I also wish there were more templates for the buttons. Such as "click here for more", "register here" and etc. I think that would be a great addition.

Comments: Try Mailer Lite, they seem reasonable.

Pros: I like that it keeps your contacts and it keeps track of "opt outs," it is pretty easy to use and all that.

Cons: It isn't really month to month and if you don't cancel in time the billing keeps accruing. We hadn't needed it but I guess didn't cancel in time so now we would have to pay money to start it again, crazy! Mailer Lite is MUCH less expensive and does the same thing...no brainer, I am moving to them and their customer service is HORRIBLE. If they would have worked with me I would have stayed with them but they just didn't care.

The settings to update a table are not user friendly. The options of fonts are limited. The wonky text stuff is what is most maddening to me

I just started using this software, and find it very easy to use.

Pros: Constant contact is extremely easy to use. In addition, it has clearly defined menus and the program is organized in a way so that there is clear functionality.

Cons: The only issue that I found is that once you delete a contact from the program, you can't restore it.

Wonderful, easy way to keep in contact with several subscribers.

Pros: This software is easy to use and I like the ability to upload images to use with our newsletters. Creating new lists is also easy to do.

Cons: There are a few glitches when editing blocks where the font changes or it doesn't do exactly what you wanted it to do.

Overall: We can get information via email to many people, quickly and easily.

Comments: Time-consuming to set up templates the way you want them. Some of the formatting, like the table of contents, is completely out of your control.

Pros: It produces a professional looking end product most of the time.

Cons: It has a lot of formatting problems. Things do not appear in the preview or in the final product the same as they appear in the user view. Even though the formatting appears to be correct in the user view, it shows up differently in the preview. The only way to correct these errors is to redo the module. Sometimes it will just log me out while I'm in the middle of working on something and fails to save my work. Very time consuming to be repeatedly correcting problems or rewriting something it didn't save. Frustrating to use.

Pros: We liked the ease of use of this software and how it sent out reminders so our prospects were always being contacted one day five days gen days thirty days and so forth. They were never forgotten.

Cons: The pricing of this was too much so we cancelled the service. We found that if we sent our own reminders thru our email it was just as effective and free.

Pros: Constant Contact is super easy to use. A lot of it is drag-and-drop. You can have a million choices of colors, fonts, layout, so you would never know that the business down the street is using the same program. It's very unique and they even offer custom templates.

Cons: There is a little bit of difficulty making changes. Sometimes when you bold things, it will change the font. Or if you change the size, it may change the underline. Little things like that.

Overall: We reach our members in a timely manner and they prefer to get emails more than snail mail now.

Pros: I like this software because it gives me the opportunity to send out monthly newsletters to my partners in a professional manner.

Cons: I am not happy with the new template changes that took effect this year, for someone who is not so familiar with templates and codes, my newsletters are a bit more basic than previous.

Overall: The benefit is the professional monthly email campaigns I send out as opposed to doing it from my emails alone, this way is more professional.

Pros: Easy to use and setup, even for a novice (which I was when I started). Started with zero subscribers, and now have nearly 8K. They are the only provider I've ever used.

Cons: If I had to pick one thing if was the fact that I could only store some many images for the base fee that I was paying (I think it was five). That was a minor issue for me though, as I made it work with what I had.

Overall: It took a complicated task and dumbed it down enough so that even I could use it. I'm a content creator, not a tech person, so I want to focus on my writing and not the tech side of running a online business.

Pros: Deliverability is pretty high with this service. The tool can be used by people with a variety of tech-savviness, so you don't have to have a technical guru on staff to rely on. There are also a variety of subscription plugins so that if for example you're using WordPress on your website, you can simply install a plugin and easily let people sign up for emails.

Cons: The email editor is very klunky. It's hard to figure out how to edit certain aspects - especially if you know how to build an HTML email and you're wanting to tweak some of the styles.

Comments: The ability to personalize each email makes a huge difference, especially when communicating with our donors. In comparison to other products, Constant Contact is much more intuitive.

Pros: Constant Contact is an easy drag and drop interface that creates professional, custom, and quick marketing solutions. Constant Contact offers in person "meet-ups" every so often that provide face to face training and best practices.

Pros: -Easy to use
- Good email server score, so a lot of the emails are delivered to inboxes

Cons: Don't really see any cons. The only con is that they also have a very strict spam policy. I remember they only allow 1 spam complaint per 1000 email sends. This makes eblasts to tradeshows a bit difficult since sometimes the tradeshow attendees don't remember they have signed up to receive email from the company, so they thought we are spamming them. However, it's also this very strict policy that enables their server excellent delivery rate.

Comments: Ask an event planner to help modify the registration segments of the site. There are a few small features that would make this software heads and shoulders above everyone else's on the market.

Pros: Having utilized a variety of registration / communication systems through the years this one is my preference. It allows me to communicate effectively, track who has and hasn't seen the information and provide a stable registration system for my events.

Cons: There are definitely some glitches in the registration process. I would like to see an option for registrants to be able to log-back in and add guests or adjust their own reservations. It's also a problem when we sell "Tables" for an event that there is no way for them to enter the attendee names at a later date.

Pros: Constant Contact has all the features you would expect with a program in the email campaign space. You can design email campaigns, create email lists, and tie in email call-to-actions into it from your website.

Cons: While not a bad application, I don't like the interface and pricing structure as much as MailChimp. I found some items confusing and I wasn't crazy about their templates. For example, I thought I had deleted my account only to find that I was still being charged for it a year later.

Pros: Constant Contact is a very easy to use platform, we use it in our company both for internal email blasts to employees and external email marketing blasts and press releases. Templates are easy to setup and customize with the ability to copy previous templates. The auto campaign feature is pretty handy as you can setup a series of emails (in our case, new employee info, benefits, etc) that go out based on a time frame you set, then any email addresses that get dropped on the list automatically fall into the series. We also use a third party connector to sync all email addresses and marketing activity to our CRM system.

Cons: Price: the more contacts you add, the more expensive it gets. I have not evaluated other options in a few years but this will be something I look into as the monthly price continues to get higher.

Pros: The drag and drop format for building an email template is perfect for non-web design/developers. No HTML needed here. Also you are able to resize photos just by dragging the corner. I like how simple it is to design an email and see just how it looks as you go. New social media management - I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited about this great feature!

Cons: Limited (or only one choice) of how the sign up form looks and what options are included on sign-up. Unable to create custom triggers. Need more options on how to view data received by surveys, and how those surveys are linked back to contacts.

Overall: I was able to cheaply design a custom program for a website that tracked client progress, sent weekly accountability reminders and instructions. One person doing the work of 3? Constant Contact was able to make that happen.

Pros: Easy to use. Can import my contacts from QBO and other software directly into my e-mail lists. Love the ability to customize e-mails. My clients love the easy to opt out if need be. The bio-metric reports let me know who has opened my e-mails and when.

Overall: Keeps my clients up to date on changing tax laws and how to for my bookkeeping clients.

Pros: Constant Contact is easy to use with sample templates, multiple email lists, and more. The customer service is fast via chat.

Cons: Limited report and cuts on database. I can't, for example, ask for a list of contacts who have or have not opened my last 6 emails. Also, they have increased the price a few times in the last few years. Now it seems like competitors are a better value even without checking if those competitors have the missing features or not...

Overall: Ease of use, good customer service for basic email contact marketing.

Pros: Setting up email and survey campaign are quite easy and have good reporting on the backend. These reports have allowed use to fine-tune how we market to certain groups.

Cons: More integration with our current CRM would be nice. It would make it much easier to import new client data rather than have to copy and paste all the time.

Overall: Ease of setting up email campaigns and surveys.

Pros: Simple to use. It was almost a "drag and drop" type of format with a little more flexibility. We used the email, events, and polls/surveys features.

Cons: I used it at a previous company, so I'm not sure if this is still an issue or not: I had a heck of a time with trying to use any sort of HTML formatting.
Another issue I had was that the email send outs were very sporadic. I wouldn't always get notifications I should've.
Purely a cosmetic complaint, but the Event pages don't look modern/are kind of clunky looking.

Overall: Everything was in one place for our event management and communications regarding the event.

Good product for the price.

Pros: I really like the newsletter feature. We actually paid for the customized newsletter template to match our brand. It was affordable and it is easy to use and customize. I think drafting emails is a simple process as well as exporting contact.

Cons: I feel like managing the contact lists can be very cumbersome. There are some challenges to importing email address. I also do not like how you have to go through multiple steps to insert a picture. It would be nice to be able to just upload within the template but you are required to upload it separately as a file and then go find that uploaded file to place in your template. There might be a formatting reason for this.

Overall: We send out emails and newsletters.

Pros: The software is good at keeping track of what emails you want to send, to whom, who looked/clicked on it, and then catering additional emails to send people who did or didn't look at it. The layouts are much more appealing than setting it up in a standard email and there are mobile-friendly options, and the reporting is useful. It works with certain database/software systems so you don't have you manually update contact lists, but you can (lots of options). It auto saves your work for those that get easily distracted... there are lots of training options for the system if you want to know all the functions.

Cons: With the ever growing tech world, I am surprised it's not more user friendly. Campaigns, for example, are not what you think- they're just individual email blasts. Moving things around, adding links, photos, documents and overall navigation is very time consuming and could take 5 clicks and a lot of "am I doing this correctly"! On the plus, you usually ARE doing it correctly. I haven't used another platform, so I can't really compare, though.

Pros: Constant contact was very easy to use. I liked updating the pre-made templates to fit our products and services.

Cons: I moved to a new software because I could not post a video in the email. This may have changed now, I'm not sure.

Overall: Constant Contact made it very easy to create and test email templates.

Comments: Overall much better than the expensive contract that we are stuck with for 24 months.

Pros: Wonderful, helpful staff walked me through everything. Easy to navigate Easy to keep and sort contacts

Cons: Not sure how to get more open rates Would like a bit more flexibility in the style or look of the templates

Constant Contact is decent, but gives me lots of headaches throughout the year.

Comments: Overall unimpressed.

Pros: No exceptional features stand out about this software. I like that they send the updated subscriber/unsubsribers report to my inbox. The emails I have scheduled do go out on time. The templates look professional.

Cons: I hate how Constant Contact logs me out all the time. Sometimes it is difficult to format newsletters. Sometimes something simple like changing the font just won't change or work probably, which is very annoying. Changing a font should be simple.

Pros: Constant Contact allows one to import their own photos and graphics. Which allows personalization of campaigns that suit the need of any targeted audience.

Cons: One cannot completely personalize their texts on Constant Contact to totally satisfy their need. One cannot add a shadow, a glow, etc. This would be a good addition.

Comments: This is a great system for easy use of email marketing. They now added features for promotions to grow facebook and surveys as well. It's really easy to use and self-explanatory.

Pros: Easy to use price grows with my business customer service is awesome options like surveys, ect. report data

Cons: does not integrate with my current CRM becuase its so user friendly I can't add some cpmplex features that I would like. reports can't be combined :(

Recommendations to other buyers: I have used Constant Contact for about 6 years and recommend it to everyone. It's easy to use and they add on features often.

Pros: Customization features
Amount of content you can deliver at one time

Overall: This product is great for displaying lots of content in an email and allows you to create and customize the content being sent out. It allows you to do so much more than a typical email would allow you to do and it allows you to send it looking very professional and customized to the audience you are sending it to. With anything the product has its own learning curve to understand how to insert different content, images, links, etc. however once you figure those things out the system becomes very easy and effortless to use.

Pros: I like how easy the product is to use. It is very easy to solicit to prospects through email. I would recommend this to a startup, not a successful company.

Cons: I don't like that I was only able to send an email platform. I have found that it is much more beneficial to solicit clients through a ringless voicemail technology.

Comments: I've been very happy with the product and the support I've gotten from the Constant Contact team.

Pros: Very helpful resources and easy to use functions. Their free workshops are always very informative and help make connections with local consultants and advisers. Bringing in lists or gathering website signups is a breeze. Setting up and email blasts or campaigns is simple and they work great on all devices, from PCs to phones. Reporting is helpful and detailed.

Cons: As a small company its list limits are not a big deal, but I could see where they would be a problem for those with huge (100k+) email lists. The WordPress plugin has caused problems for me. I've had to disable it a couple of times. But right now it's working fine. Also the limit on the number of users means it can't be a true CRM for us since our sales team can't take advantage of its great tools.

Pros: It was very easy to add subscribers to a certain list or add tags to them.

Cons: There was a disturbing limit on the number of images you could have in your "library" for use. We were paying $/month, which meant a limit of 5 images that could be stored. MailChimp probably has a limit for free accounts, but we haven't reached it yet and definitely have more than 100 images. There is also an image editing tool in MailChimp that Constant Contact did not have so that you can crop, brighten, or add text to your images within the software. It's very convenient.

Overall: My nonprofit was previously using Constant Contact for our email marketing before switching to MailChimp. We were paying $/month and had between 1,000 and 2,000 subscribers. After a couple people mentioned that MailChimp was free at that list size, we looked into it and switched over. As the primary user of these services, I have to say that MailChimp is much more intuitive and user-friendly than Constant Contact. There always seemed to be functions of email customization that just didn't work as they were supposed to in Constant Contact, and it would drive me crazy. Otherwise, the two services seem pretty similar.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely don't go this route if you're a small organization and have less than 2,000 subscribers. I vote for MailChimp, hands-down.
