They do what they do very well and offer a solution that is easy to learn and adopt within smaller organizations. I would definitely recommend it to small businesses or non-profits. Pros Constant Contact has a very clean interface and a dashboard that makes it easy to navigate and learn. When compared to other solutions like Mailchimp, I found Constant Contact to be more intuitive and simpler. Our client was able to adopt it quickly where they struggled with other solutions. Cons Constant Contact's List set up is not very robust and is somewhat limiting. Their email builder is very structured as well, which can be good for some, but can be difficult to navigate for more custom email builds or email builds that leverage dynamic content. February 8, 2024 5.0 Great experience over the past 5 years and my client will continue to use it moving forward. 10/10 experience for ease of use and needed features. Pros I love how easy it is for the average user to build attractive templates. The user experience is very friendly and quick, and all design elements are straightforward. This platform made designing my clients' emails fast and painless! We also use their email drip automation feature and it has benefited my clients greatly. The feature set is very rich and while it can be a bit more complex than competitors like MailChimp, it is the best-in-class solution for those needing broad control over their email content and easy delivery. Pros Constant Contact is an easy to use bulk email online service. You have several templates to choose from and all of them are customizable. Designing everything from an invitation to a complex newsletter can usually be achieved within just a few minutes. Tracking email opens, clicks, and other metrics is equally simple. Getting basic business intelligence about trends in email activity is also easily accomplished. Customer service is fantastic. We have had everyone of our cases resolved quickly and easily. Cons Constant Contact can be a little fastidious about unsubscribers and spam reports. The customer has very little control once a recipient has either unsubscribed or reported spam. They can’t be emailed again. Even if you are able to reach the customer and convince them to resume service or the customer made a mistake, it can be very difficult to re-enable their service. Exporting your data is simple, however, Constant Contact itself doesn’t allow much in terms of integration with other software’s. It’s all export/import. There are a number of developers that produce plug-ins for individual programs, but they don’t always work properly. You take your own risks with those. Reason for choosing Constant Contact We chose Constant Contact because of better feature set and Direct Mail is a desktop app only for Macs. Everytime I consider finding a lower price option, and one with a simpler interface, I realize that there are many features I'd have to abandon. They really are the leaders in the field, and I just have to make time to keep on top of frequent upgrades and enhancements. Pros It literally can do everything someone could want, and more than I can even learn how to do. Cons I have the frequent (or so it seems) interface upgrades, where I lose efficiency trying to learn a new system. I also dislike how difficult it is to deselect a list from a mailing. You can design the look of the email - would highly recommend. Pros It is easy to put a campaign together, once we have a layout we can copy and change depending on what we need the campaign for. We can import lists to create a new list (group). Cons If you want to keep a contact but they do not wish to receive emails from you but may in the future you cannot have a contact in the system without belonging to a list. It is very user friendly and we are very satisfied with the emails we are able to send using the service. Our customers look forward to our communications and this has improved our customer relations. Pros Constant Contact is simple to use and an excellent tool for connecting with customers. I can navigate with ease to create new email campaigns and upload new contacts. The stats it shares about the emails is also very helpful to gauge customer interest. I also like the survey feature. Our team loves this to reach our customers and I don't know how we managed without it. Cons Overall, I am very happy with Constant Contact. I sometimes have difficulty moving contacts around in lists, but I otherwise enjoy all it's features. We are always checking out their new features that might help us even more on our marketing trails. For what you get, you are not paying too much which is cost effective! Pros The feature that is most useful in my current job situation is the technology this program has to track opens and clicks for basic to intricate emails that are sent out to customers. This helps us to determine our most interested and time worthy customers/prospects for different products. Another thing is that you can import/export large amounts of data whenever you need it, and they have the tools all over the website that can help you every step of the way how to get the most out of the email campaigns. Continuous updates and features are added to the website monthly, with an article explaining all about it pops up in your notifications. Cons Sometimes if there is too much data/campaigns integrated into the website it can slow simple tasks down by large degree. It's pretty easy to use and is pretty versatile. You can use their templates or create your own, you can schedule your campaigns to go out at opportune times, and you can have as little or as much info as you want tied to your contacts. Pros I like that there are different ways you can reach your contact list, from a survey, to a newsletter, to a quick blast. I like that there are also many different ways to upload contacts from spreadsheets, to manually, to cut and paste. Cons It seems like the pricing could be a little more affordable for those who have a bunch of contacts. I also don't like that they changed the way that we can handle bounced email addresses. Pros I really like the fact that we can craft and easily schedule and send out to various lists based on the type of email and intended audience. The software itself is relatively easy to use. Cons How the text and photos sometimes shift in spacing from what is saved to what gets sent. This has happened for years and seems to be a design fluke. Uploading photos is painful and seems to be overly complicated for use in the design. Reason for choosing Constant Contact We choose Constant Contact because it was included in our DonorPerfect software package deal. Pros Doesn't duplicate contacts but allows you to upload as many lists as you want. Easy to use. Cons Make sure your company has big enough servers to handle the application. It really slows down our internet at times. Also, you can't import multipage documents/PDFs, you have to take screenshots of each page and upload them as a photo. Wish that was different. We also use it to introduce new team members and keep patients informed about the day to day operations of our practice. Pros I love that patients can sign up for emails directly via a link on our website. It's easy to add patients to the database and patients can unsubscribe if they don't want to be contacted. It's a self-running program that doesn't require a lot of user maintenance. We can also gauge the patient's interest in subjects by the analytics from the software. Customer support is also wonderful, and they are eager to help if you need it. They also offer free training sessions where you can learn a lot. Cons One thing is that sometimes our clients wouldn’t receive our emails. Whether they would accidentally unsubscribe (getting them back on the email distribution list is frustrating), or get kicked off the list automatically due to inactivity. As a new user to digital marketing platforms when I started my job, I cut my teeth on Constant Contact and was able to help the developers of our industry-specific platform (Levitate) make things better for us based on the positive experiences I had with Constant Contact. Pros I really liked the availability of a lot of free images. Another resource we switched to that is industry-specific doesn't have the same amount of images. For someone looking to send out email communications, they make it easy to build an email from scratch or provide templates to get you started. It's user friendly and has a lot of options to see how your contacts are engaging with your emails. Cons Short of custom coding the emails, there was little opportunity to customize to the degree that we were looking for. When trying to maintain our brand across multiple communications while not spending extra resources on customization, this became a hurdle using this platform. Reason for choosing Constant Contact The cost was the main factor in choosing Constant Contact, but it turns out that the customization available on the other platforms in worth the increased cost.
