Fortunately for Constant Contact, it is a low-priority list item and doesn't get done! Pros Management of contacts, lists and unsubscribes Cons The design tool is completely inadequate. Constant seems to continue to simplify its interface by removing features. Major updates are often incompatible with prior builds and require the rebuilding of all emails. It makes it very easy to send client newsletters and manage out marketing efforts. Pros We love to use Constant Contact to send out our quarterly newsletter as well as other updates for our contacts. It's extremely easy to do that and to manage our contacts. The customer service is also great. Cons It is difficult to learn some of the new features that would lead to further automation. We feel like we are not getting everything out of the system simply because we aren't aware of everything. Embedding sign up forms from Constant Contact on your website directly is also not super challenging. You can segment groups out of larger audiences if needed. It also has low restrictions on qualified email contacts. So we can upload any email list and sent them an email. We don't need a attach a separate SMTP server as it provides in the package. Pros I love their easy to use interface, especially their email builder. I can say it's a best of its kind basic level email marketing + automation tool. There are many features like auto send email to non-openers without creating any segments. August 29, 2019 5.0 Pros We signed up with Constant Contact in somewhat a state of desperation, after having no luck with other platforms to do what we wanted them to. We were looking for an email marketing platform that would effectively take our data and create merge fields that worked, had the ability to segment lists, and also provided detailed reports including who had opened it, who had not unopened it and had the ability to re-send with one-click to everyone who had not opened a specific email. We also wanted a platform where we could create our own customizable template that still had a professional appearance. Constant Contact did all this for us, and our customers have been commenting on how the communication we're sending them "looks professional, has a consistent look, and always has relevant content". We couldn't have achieved this without Constant Contact! Cons The one disadvantage with Constant Contact is that anyone that has the same email address is merged into one contact. This has been a small issue for us where we want to keep both contacts names even though they have the same email address. We have been able to work around this by asking all our customers with duplicate email addresses to update their email address. Reason for choosing Constant Contact It had more capabilities and the price was right. We are a smal organization with under 100 recipients. We have the basic subscription due to price. When we demonstrated the product during our free trial, we had access to all the premium features which are very good but we can’t afford the cost to upgrade. We still have issues with getting the newsletter to people who don’t have email. I text the link to some but there are others who don’t have smart phones or internet. Printing does not work well at all. It takes a very long time to get the formatting to look good and to fit it on the page correctly. I don’t bother with it now and those folks get left out. Pros Easy to use, easy to learn. The best feature in the basic subscription is the campaign creation tool. It’s not as easy to use as Power Point or Publisher or even Word but it does the job. Cons Campaigns do not translate well to print projects. We send a weekly newsletter by email with CC, but we still have some folks who don’t have email or internet of any kind or even a smart phone. We would like to print a copy of the CC e-newsletter and mail it to these folks, but haven’t found a way that looks good or is easy to do. Email deliverability rate good and all emails reaches inbox. It support drag and drop features to create/customize email templates and surveys. A/B testing is another prime feature. I have had very little problem with deliverability, and the designer gets better every year. Cons The social media distribution part doesn't work as well as it did. Knowing it can be tracked was extremely helpful. Customer service was great! they were so thorough and helpful. Cons The reporting was tedious. I'd have to go to individual campaigns and download the reports vs. a mass download. I have not used it in a year so if its been changed that's great! if not, it needs to be looked into. July 10, 2018 5.0 I like to be able to customize and easily send mass emails to our database. This is a great and easy to use software that does just that! Pros I love the fact that Constant Contact is so easy to use. You can build and design an email that can easily be sent out to your whole database or just a selection of unique people from your database. We have built emails about fundraisers, important information, upcoming events and more. It is easy to create and I like that they have options to change colors and designs. I especially like the fact that responses can come directly to my email. As well as people can easily unsubscribe if our emails are not being well received. I also like that I can send a test out to see what it will look like. Cons Our package with Constant Contact is limited to two users. This makes it difficult for multiple people to check it out. Cons Overall, with attrition/unsubs, the company is not flexible when it comes to reality of "dead accounts". Meaning accounts that will never be reached or see your emails/campaigns because of spam blocking or other email filtering device, lowering the number of the actual reach from the email list. Therefore you continue to pay an inflated price for amount of emails you import/export. We have received wonderful feedback from the communities we serve on the content we are able to create and share. The templates are easy to use, engaging for the user and provide a great service for our team and stakeholders. Pros Constant Contact allows our team to manage various cohort groups for different types of marketing, newsletters and surveys. In an office that works with staff, faculty, students and many community stakeholders, this customization is necessary for our success, and saves a lot of work! Cons It's been hard to discover something we do not like, but we had hoped to determine a way to customize newsletters with multiple branches based on the user interacting and their membership/access within a pre-defined group in our contacts. I love Constant Contact! Pros Constant Contact makes creating newsletters a breeze. The real magic happens after the email is sent... the ability to track what links are clicked and when... is so helpful for future messaging and for tailoring future communications. The ability to know what works and what doesn't is priceless.. Cons The uploading system for email information can sometimes be... dodgey. When someone unsubscribes, you cannot add them back in even if they ask you to. I understand the requirement to honor their unsubscribe request... but it can make things difficult. Cons Whenever I copy an email campaign, it doesn't let me update the links. Even when I go in and cancel them, it still attaches the links from the original email. It also doesn't load facebook event photos when I use the link in a read more section. Also CC doesn't integrate with Weave which is rather annoying because it would be so much easier to sync those up. Owner Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great for targeted campaigns" February 5, 2021 5.0 We use CC to maintain ties with our customers (especially during pandemic) and are finally figuring out the balance between being present and being a pest. Pros The functionality of the email campaigns are great and we feel like we're just scratching the surface when it comes to their capability. We are able to use the data to better target our future campaigns and see what works and what isn't as effective. The tips that CC offers are very helpful and when a rep calls with some new tricks, we're always excited to give them a try. Cons There are times when we'd like a little more freedom in the design aspect of the campaigns themselves, but in general, very happy with the functionality.
