It's fairly straightforward to use. It's easy to upload a list via a CSV format or other options. It has a list of possible template that you can choose from or you can create a template from scratch. Once you've done that, it's pretty simple to schedule your campaign to a specific audience. If you hadn't discovered other products, you would think that it's just fine. It's not a bad product, but it's not the best either. Cons The ease of use and user experience of Constant Contact is not as great when you compare it to another service. You can tell that some of the features havent had a product redesign in a few years. They may have changed some things recently, but historically they were lagging a bit behind when compared to some of the offerings of competitors like Mailchimp. When it comes to deciding what software to use, you will need to compare the features and pricing of one another. For me, after doing some research I made the switch over to another program. December 20, 2018 5.0 Using and learning Constant Contact is not difficult... and you can really create some nice looking email newsletters and setup/manage the email lists very quickly. What I have always liked is their Event management features (with the Plus level of service) for event promotion, registration, payments, tracking, and reporting. For groups and companies that don't have members, it is a great option to consider. Pros I have used Constant Contact for various groups for over 10 years. The newsletters and email list management is very easy to learn and manage and the reporting availability (opens, etc) is good too. For groups that hold events and need to promote, register, get paid, and so forth for those events the Email Plus is a great option and it works well. For all these years they have offered a consistent and strong product. One thing to consider, if you are looking for software like this is to consider if you also have or need membership management as part of your group's needs... you may want to look around for a software that includes that service feature as Constant Contact does not have that membership management feature. Cons The price is quite high when compared to what you can get with other software (Wild Apricot) that offers email newsletters, event management, and also the total membership management part. If your group or company does not have members or need that management feature... then I always recommend Constant Contact for the newsletters and event management. Review Source Sandy M. Between the contact management, custom design builder, scheduling system, and analytics, I have very minimal cons! Pros Constant Contact has very user-friendly design modules that can accommodate any type of communication you need to send. They also have segmented contact lists, and in-depth analytics with built-in comparison to industry standards. Cons There is an option to share your email marketing on social media, but I wish the interface was more updated. Also, searching for specific contacts can be difficult if you don't know exactly how they were input to the system. So we have two clients using CC because we can set up the newsletters easily and quickly, and they can both be customized for the way the user wants it to work. The free photo library is large, and for a small upgrade you can basically upload whatever images or PDF's you want. You can link all images, and track who click on that link so your tracking is extremely useful. Pros This is one of the easiest email systems to use. If you are not marketing savvy you can even have the customer service department create your email templates for you. What I like most is that they are always trying to improve the system, whether it's more template options, or more social options. Cons The only issue I have is the text inside the template. First, more font options would be great. Second, it has a tendency to select the entire block instead of jus a word, and sometimes the font will just revert to the default font. I'm not sure why. They are not trying to be something they are not and they have made huge improvements over the years to the GUI Interface. Pros The ease of making a custom email was exactly what we were looking for. We send out a Holiday greeting each year (we buy 2 months worth of CC every year). Once we have made a solid contacts.csv file the rest is really drag and drop. Also, a CC representative threw in a sample email that looks like our website...it was pretty neat, but not Holiday appropriate. Overall, our Holiday email goes out without a hitch and we get some nice reporting on the back-end that helps us for next year. Cons My only pet-peeve is if you want to cancel the subscription, you have to go through a sales rep. Slightly annoying in our case. However, all the reps were friendly and low pressure. We were able to cancel in one phone call. Incredible easy to recycle previous week's emails, upload updated email address list and send. CAN-SPAM compliant opt-out feature lowers my paranoia and trackable results are mesmerizing to watch as they roll in. Cons Wish the price didn't scale up as the number of contacts did. I can split my list for A/B testing, schedule for a later time/date, and see real time results of opens and clicks. Very pleased with Constant Contact and I do recommend to colleagues. Pros Ease of use. If you've used another product /solution of this kind, you'll have no problem working with Constant Contact. Everything is straightforward. Easy to create a template for a newsletter, add photos, change font sizes, colors, etc. Easy to add hyperlinks. Cons Sometimes adding photos can get a bit tricky. July 20, 2018 5.0 Constant Contact allows me to easily send professional emails to my clients and readers without worrying about leaking their data out or delivering viruses to their inboxes. Pros The email design features are awesome, and adding pictures is pretty easy. You can build your own library of photos to use. Designing and changing email templates is quite straightforward, and fully customizable with colours, fonts and 'blocks' of type such as main feature, coupon, etc. I have only used customer support twice and they were cheerful and helpful. Almost every email brings one or more bookings so I feel using this service is worth the price. It's also easy to manage your email lists and CC helps guard against repeated bounces by sort of quarantining those email addresses to protect you from a poor sender reputation, which is important with ever-tightening SPAM regulations. There are upgrades available, should you want to send out forms or questionnaires to your list too. Cons It is an expense for a small business, and the bigger your list the more it costs. Every once in a while the formatting goofs up and can be frustrating, and copy/paste formatting is sometimes a bit challenging. They can really get you out of bind if sales or marketing suddenly decides a need for a mailing in an hour. Saved me many times. I do like the overall format and the timeliness of the mailings when you set up your mailings to go out in the advance . . great job! Pros I recently took over the mailing and marketing for our company. Pretty much had a crash course from previous person in charge of it. Found it pretty easy to use once I figured it out. The templates have saved my life for 'on the fly' mailings. Pretty easy to go in and customize the template already close to what you want but want to add your person company or touch to it. I really appreciate the effort that goes into the templates. Also, found that the mailings go out when they say they are going to go out - a real nice feature! Cons Understanding and navigation buttons can sometimes send you into a tizzy . . they need to work on some flexibility to size when adding a picture or custom logo. Usually have found work around but not a lot of room for error. Also . . the preview is not really a preview. It saves time with sending out social media posts. You can schedule a month's worth of posts in advance to different sites. You do not have to post to sites individually. Pros The features I like most about Constant Contact are (1) the ability to post on at least 3 social media sites at the same time; (2) sending out email campaigns to your target audience; and (3) being able to schedule posts to go out at a certain time. This software is also easy to use. Cons At this time, I have not experienced any issues or features that are difficult to use. Reason for choosing Constant Contact Constant Contact features met my business needs. The cost was reasonable. My assistant had the most experience with Constant Contact. I highly recommend Constant Contact. The ease of use, and data segmentation make this product far superior. The email templates aren't real flashy, but you can add colors and pictures and your end result always looks very clean. The other products I have used were not nearly as intuitive as Constant Contact and I found them hard to learn. Pros We have a lot of different email lists that we utilize. This products makes it SUPER easy to segment your lists and to send emails for different purposes. We like the reporting feature and find this very helpful in determining the success of our marketing efforts. Cons There isn't an easy was to allow others to forward our emails. This renders the system entirely useless. They boast a high open rate because you have to shake hands with someone before adding them to your list. Pros Constant Contact makes it easy for our historic house museum to email our contacts with information on our upcoming events and programming. With templates that are easy to use, we can create emails that have a strong visual impact and include links for ticketing, etc. Having a sign-up link for Constant Contact on our website and Facebook page helps us grow our list. Constant Contact always sends out emails with updates on new subscribers as well as people who have unsubscribed from our emails. We like that we can create and schedule numerous email blasts. Once an event is planned, we can set multiple emails to go out at various points during a particular campaign and at the times that we want them to reach our constants. Cons As the administrator of our Constant Contact and the sole creator of content, it was somewhat overwhelming at first in reviewing all of the template options. However, once a standard template was chosen, it was easier to create emails. Reason for choosing Constant Contact Constant Contact was recommended to us by a Board of Trustees member who used it in her business. But I do see the lack of functionality for larger, more graphically-inclined businesses. Pros I appreciate the ease of importing contacts and scheduling email blasts - it only takes a few minutes to import a contact list thousands long ! Cons I really feel like the software is best fit for less graphically-inclined smaller businesses. The functionality for creating really powerful and dynamic email blasts is just not possible with the current software. The templates are old and clunky and the software is not capable (that I am aware of) of compressing a file to send that is larger than 5 MB. For a firm like ours, that uses a lot of imagery, that is difficult when the resolution is lost when you shrink all the images. It is a nice platform to use when needing to communicate quickly with large groups of people. I use it at a school to quickly contact parents if there is an emergency or announcement that needs to go out immediately. Pros Constant Contact is user friendly and intuitive. It was a great platform for getting out a large amount of emails at once. Cons I don't like that the message you are sending is not visible to you to preview and the inability to recall an email quickly if you aren't happy with what you said in it. June 17, 2019 4.0 Pros It's incredibly simple to understand the software and put it to good use; that being said, you'll find that the hardest part will sometimes be coming up with the design itself since you're not faced with the burden of troubleshooting or dealing with a complex interface. You're able to distribute awesome emails and understand their analytics, too. Cons I do wish we had the capability to insert our own code into a newsletter, or work with text spacing, margin size, and the overall layout a little more extensively, but this is coming from a perfectionist's viewpoint. Make no mistake: you will be creating great material with such simplicity you'll feel invincible, but (as with anything we're given restrictions on) sometimes you'll wish you had just a tiiiiiiny bit more freedom. They have everything set up for you, so that you can upload a document, image, and/or video. I love that they give you the option to change the background colors and schedule days and times for the e-mails to be sent out. I love how reliable this software is when it comes to importing contacts and making sure our clients receive the emails on time, I love the statistics it provides us. That has definitely helped our organization improve. Constant Contact is the way to go! Cons The new update is a little more time consuming. I have been using Constant Contact for 2 years and getting used to the new update has been a bit frustrating. I also wish there were more templates for the buttons.
