There have been no major issues to speak of. Pros Ability to customize the system to meet the needs of the Laboratory. CSS and Avalon were very flexible. Cons Some elements of setup were initially confusing but support by CSS was great and the Lab was able to work through the issues. For example: generating responses on reports with complex toxicology. It has been a reliable system for managing our daily laboratory operations and helps keep everything organized and running smoothly. The team has great turnaround time when we reach out about issues or new things we want to add to our system. Pros Avalon is solid LIS software and comparable to most. However, the CSS support team puts Avalon ahead of the rest in my book. The team goes above and beyond to make things work for us. We go through a lot of changes as an organization and CSS has been very helpful in assisting us throughout those changes. I like the fact the support team is US based and are very attentive to our needs as a customer. The team is highly knowledge and are very good at following through. \[sensitive content hidden\] are all amazing to work with. Cons The system was a bit slow before, with few glitches here and there but that's greatly improved since we've migrated to the cloud environment. Pros Avalon Laboratory System is a very professional LIM system with high performance and easy to use in our clinical testing work. The technique support team led by\[sensitive content hidden\] has been delivering highly efficient support with exceptional results, which significantly boot our overall productivity and workflow. Cons Avalon Laboratory System sometimes need to be reopened if the LIM system is in idled for a long period of time. However, it gets back to work immediately after reopening the system. The support team is extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, and willing to troubleshoot issues as they arise. I especially appreciate their ability to listen to our concerns and work with us to find solutions that fit our workflow. Pros The support team at Avalon LIS, they are always available and extremely responsive. There have been some great updates to our LIS that have increased our production and have made reporting more efficient. Cons Honestly, there is very little I can say that I like least about working with the LIS team. They have consistently been helpful, responsive, and willing to work with us to meet the needs of our laboratory. As with any system, there are always opportunities for continued improvements and new features, but the team is receptive to feedback and does a great job helping us find solutions. I've been able to call them with an issue, and no matter which specialist answers the phone I'm able to get excellent service. \[sensitive content hidden\] in particular just helped me fix issues with a new instrument install not communicating like its predecessor. Pros Direct communication between our patient EMR and Avalon. I'm able to input a patient order, and in a few minutes be able to see the EMR order populate in the queue. Cons Pretty sure it's on our patient chart end and not Avalon's, but it would be nice in medication lists could transfer over with the EMR orders. Review Source BM Brian M. Avalon has helped us maintain and grow our patient care, as well as our business. Pros I think some of the biggest pros with this software is the ease of Order Entry/Patient Building, the simplicity of Test Building/Practice Building/Doctor Building (Configuration), the fast setup of Instrument/EMR Interfaces, and lastly, the customer service at CSS is unparalleled. The foundation of the LIS can be customized to the customers liking and you will always get an intelligent, thoughtful person on the phone to fix any issue that may arise (Not many to speak of). Cons The cons are few, especially for the price point. But I would say that a Live Pending List would be very beneficial to all Clients. Database Reports could be more presentable. They are incredibly responsive to our needs and have helped us solve some issues with 3rd party software that Avalon wasn't responsible for creating. Pros Avalon LIS is intuitive and easy to learn to use for my lab staff. We were up and running within 2 days of implementing the software. It is very easy to connect Avalon to our analyzers so that results can be easily transferred to our LIMS which saves a lot of time. Cons The standard reports are not as robust as they could be so if I want a specific report, I go through Avalon's customer service. The turnaround time is quick, but I would like to be able to run reports myself. Reason for choosing Avalon LIS Speed of implementation and responsiveness to our questions. Review Source CJ Cheryl J. When we have called and requested product modifications, they have been extremely helpful and and expedited all our requests. Pros Its very user friendly, anyone can learn this software. When I began to first use it, within a few hours I was toying around with a lot of different applications on the interface. Its that easy. Cons If I could say anything that could maybe be improved is the time of services provided. For the weekends, the service is available for emergencies only. We also love the fact that the software can provide management and sales reports. Pros What I like most is how easy the software is to use. From a management stand point down to the techs, everyone enjoys the Avalon software because of its comprehensive functionality and overall reporting features. The customer support staff goes above and beyond to make changes to our software if needed. Easily integrates the different departments in our lab so that we have a very efficient operation. Avalon is also very easy to customize with regards to different users being allowed specific access to functions within their department. Very easy to view and print reports that are critical to the operation of our laboratory. Cons Customer service team are very persistent. Pros The ease of order entry and creating patient accounts. Cons The lack of ability to customize reports/queries to be pulled. The ability to view/print all resulted orders for a patient.
