I am the Senior Accountant now, and I have always been tech savvy. I have set up several accounting systems for clients in the past using many different accounting software's. I most recently worked for another Christian school that used 3 different software products. They used one for billing & collections, One for student/parent & teacher for grades, discipline, assignments, and one for AP, Financial Statements, and General Ledger. None of which were integrated with each other. Pros I really like how every department is integrated with each other. I also am extremely happy with the support personnel who have helped us along the way. I never have to feel like I am flying solo. Also, since we have switched to Heartland for payment processing AR runs smoother, collections come in faster and fees have been reduced greatly. All of this makes cash flow better for us. Cons I wish there were more options for customization of the financial statements. As the director of a new hybrid homeschool program, I am wearing all the hats and many of which I have never worn before or had any experience with. The support not only has taught me how to reconcile and track finances, but they are available anytime I get stuck and have questions. Although I found the lack of intuition a struggle at first, after a year of using it, I can better navigate my way around. Pros The customer support is superb! I loved being able to schedule time when I needed more in depth help and being able to jump on with support quickly when I had easy questions. Cons The learning curve / lack of intuition of software. Pros Easy to take attendance and journal student progress. I can see how this website would be very convenient if I was an administrator. Cons Somewhat confusing to use, not an intuitive program. Wish there was an ios app for this, as I mostly use my iPad in the classroom, very frustrated that I cannot use my iPad with this website, even if I have Firefox on my device. Very annoying that I have to use Firefox with this website, as I don't need it for anything else. I have found the lesson planning section clumsy at best, there are simpler more user friendly sites that I use for lesson planning. The site freezes if I leave the web page open, forcing me to log in and out every time that I need to use it. As a teacher with limited time for admin during school hours this is very frustrating. I love that everything is connected - from application to enrollment to tuition payments to transcripts! It keeps things organized. Cons I can't think of anything I don't like -- it's taken some time to learn, but it is user friendly. Pros The accessibility of talking to a real person. Love that when you schedule a call you know you have their undivided attention for an hour. I also love that they have the capability of remote control of your screen so you can see what they are doing and learn from it. Cons I find a lot of the forms etc not super user friendly to set up. It is a complicated process - compared to using something like google forms - if it wasn't for \[sensitive content hidden\] being so patient and helping us figure it all out I don't think it would be practical for us to get set up on our own. Our calls are shorter and shorter because often times it is something I just need a little nudge in the correct direction. There's so many things that can be done with the platform that even things that you would think you need an external program to do, if you ask the online support team, they can probably create within the platform anything you were thinking. There's so much information that you can save in the platform that even 4 years later in the system we are learning new things we can do. Pros Praxi has everything needed for schools all in one place. From basic information like Student and Parent information to very detailed doctor notes for medicine, and IEP/504 information, scholarship award ID's. Teachers can communicate with the parents through the messaging system and the admin team can see if a person received the email and even opened it. Students can create a student portal to see what grades are missing and they can work with the teachers to turn in any missed work. Parents can order lunches, items in a store that you can create for any purpose like field trips and yearbooks and see their student's grades. The principal can login into their admin account and verify all the teachers are putting in grades on time and can communicate with them if needed. Even when people make mistakes, online support can help you see who did what so that it can be corrected and give proper training. Cons Sometimes learning where things are for parents it's not as easy for them. For some reason they always find it a little challenging. Review Source WG Wendy G. They are amazing and so helpful. It is a great program for a school. While I am only occasional help on the admin side it has been easy for me to pick up and great to use. Pros The amazing customer service! Any time I have an issue they explain things perfect and it makes the program simpler. Cons Transcripts! The way they are set up and work is so tricky and causes issues. Also no undo button that should be a thing for up to 60 seconds after taking an action for in case of accidents. I reviewed several different systems before we purchased Praxi and I could not be more satisfied. They were so easy to work with getting all of our records set up initially and if there is ever any questions that arise, an actual person is available within just a few moments to assist me. Their customer service is one of the things that truly impressed me and they haven't let me down. I've had other companies try to sell me their product, but I have no intention of leaving Praxi because this system manages everything we need in our school office. We are a small Christian school and we are very conservative in how we spend our funds. Praxi is very affordable for us and is an exceptional product for the cost. Pros Everything about Praxi is easy to understand and use. I have used other school software that was difficult to use, and did not provide most of the services available through Praxi School. I love that I can run the entire school office from Praxi. We are able to handle financial management, grades, parent communication, and student/parent information in one system. The other thing I love about Praxi is the immediate customer service. I am able to connect with a customer service rep in moments online and they are always able to resolve any questions I have. I am never transferred to multiple people to answer my questions. Cons I honestly cannot think of anything that I do not like about the Praxi School system. Review Source CM Carli M. " March 1, 2018 5.0 We combined nine databases into one. Ease of use and versatile. Support is fantastic and so is the price! Both parents and the school loves having one database to which everyone has access. Pros We had nine separate databases operating at my school and we combined them into Praxi. Not only does Praxi handle everything for admin and the classroom, but it handles library, donors, lunch, communications, after school and finance. My parents are happy that they have one place to go to pay bills, see grades, demerits, calendar, announcements, etc. Admin loves it because we all have access to the same information and if the littlest piece of info changes (e.g. an email), it updates in the system and we all have access. The support that Praxi gives is unparalleled. Any software adoption has challenges as change is never easy, but Praxi made it as easy as it could be. Praxi was available for any training we needed - even if we needed a refresher. The online support is available to help and they make sure your question is answered while looking at your screen so you are using your data. At one point I had to wonder if we were the only school using Praxi because their response is so timely. (Of course, they have hundreds? Thousands? of schools.) They helped us every step of the way and they are still there for any questions big or small. The versatility of the reporting is also beyond anything I have seen and I have had experience with many databases. We can generate a report using any piece of data in Praxi and output it in a PDF, Excel sheet or email it. And you can't beat the price. Lots of value with an affordable price. Cons Praxi does not currently have the ability for us to put hyperlinks in the Announcements page, but I'm told they have that on the "to do" list. It has nooks for information that a special needs or interest school can store that no other school may need to track. The software engineer is extremely responsive to the needs of the users and wants to be able to have Praxi School continue to meet expanding demands. The new billing capabilities are wonderful and the service is just about around the clock. Having been in the education delivery service for many years I can have used many systems but have not used any that I have found better thought out or developed. They know their system well (obviously) and are able to provide support whenever we need help. Pros PraxiSchool is truly a school in a box. All of the features and support truly are worth the money. There is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, you won't forget it. I enjoy learning new tricks as I become more acquainted with the system. My school families are also loving it! Cons The learning curve in the beginning was a bit stressful considering we were transitioning from a different company and had gotten used to their system. We always have access to help when we need it and they're always so kind! Pros We use PRAXI for Student information management system, to provide Student and Teacher Management, and School management like billing. We love the value for the money, and security it offers for the families and the learning curve is a breeze. Cons We have to create separate forms for registration based on the circumstance (new vs. returning) and age group to be able to show the fee structure for each. Not the end of the world and now that they're created, I'm able to simply modify if there are changes for each year.
