### "Making appointments easier!"

January 8, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience has been wonderful. Easy access, great support when needed, everything in one easy place. Great product all the way around.

Pros

Everything is in one spot. Any information that you would need for a patient is available in it's on place. You can leave detailed back notes that can be shared with all other employees. I love that it lists all past appointments and it has flash notices that mention the most important things you need to watch for. It's very simple to learn how to use it. I had a little bit of training and got it right away.

Cons

I do not like that you can't copy and paste things using the mouse. I have also had issues with it closing with out any reason and you have to resign in and re open any windows you may have had open. It takes up extra time that could be better used contacting the next patient.

### "OK, but could be so much more comprehensive and helpful for both front desk and treatment personnel."

October 28, 2024

3.0

After having used DOX Pediatric Dental Software for 30 years, Denticon is not as comprehensive or intuitive to use. Although the basic DOX software is much older, it seems more comprehensive in the areas of account management, estimating co-pays for patients with various insurances, photos archiving and ease of use. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best software, Denticon at this time, rates a 4-5. smm

Pros

Easy to learn. Fairly basic software Like the dual screen ability

Cons

1\. Patient visit slips lack information about last Panoramic and BW x-rays. Have to dig through the ledger to find out date of last pan/bw. Production killer 2. Pull downs in Operative need detailing. 3. When you save progress notes, especially after completing pull downs in Operative, I have to edit misspellings and other mistakes. 4. Need ability to permanently turn off the checked "Prod. View", so colored blocks never showup. It is hard to read names with appointments have color. 5.Maybe we are entering data incorrectly, but in the patient information screen, I need to easily find the names of both mother and father of our Pedo patients. 6. DropSpot escribe software is cumbersome to use...took several attempts to figure out how to use properly. 7. I have not found a way to save all photos of Hygiene patients. In DOX, we were able to save all hygiene photograph through out the years in it's "Letter Writing" folder. I need to save every photo taken at every Hygiene appointment so that, we are able to watch oral/facial Growth and Development.

### "Big help for our small office."

October 23, 2019

5.0

Has become a vital tool to our practice. Helps us keep up in the arena with much bigger competitors.

Pros

Nicely integrated; billing, management, clinical. Staff all find it easy to use.

Cons

Initially clinical graphics were not too impressive -- but newer/upgraded graphics are great.

Alternatives considered

[Dentrix Ascend](https://www.capterra.com/p/177828/Dentrix-Ascend/)[Curve Dental](https://www.capterra.com/p/98688/Curve-Dental-Hero/)

Reason for choosing Denticon

Tried Denticon in their "sandbox", and it seemed useful and straightforward. They also had a good long history, track-record in "cloud-based" software.

Switched from

[Dentrix Enterprise](https://www.capterra.com/p/161566/Dentrix-Enterprise/)

With Dentrix it often that keeping up with the software (cost, training, maintenance, necessary hardware, upgrades, etc...............) had become its own primary feature; what little value Dentrix actually provided to our practice was hard to define (not clear at all).

### "After years of use, I can't see myself using anything else"

May 28, 2020

5.0

Denticon has been awesome. I don't deal with the issues of servers, backups, backup storage, security, ransomware, etc., that many of my colleagues have dealt with. My experience has been excellent.

Pros

I love the cloud based access, ease of viewing records, schedules, reports, etc., from any device, including my phone. Excellent training videos for new users. No need to worry about backups and off-site backup storage. No security concerns.

Cons

Sometimes reports are hard to navigate. Sometimes support is challenging with no 800-number support available.

### "I would rather use paper charts"

February 14, 2025

Any time they update this software they make it even worse. I’ve used multiple other dental software and this is by far the worst

Pros

### "Paying for a system with minimal support that we cannot use "

October 19, 2022

1.0

Extremely disappointing.

Pros

What looked good was the options for multiple clearinghouses…. 5 clinics taken live over a month and now I would say stay away because it’s not worth the level of poor support and the worst go live experience.

Cons

Lack of support and project management. Our implementation specialist was fired just prior to our first go live. So she may have dropped the ball but Denticon still failed to pick up that ball and make things right.

### "Dental Software"

March 18, 2020

5.0

I like the ease of the overall software and how when new employees come in with no knowledge they pick it up super quick. Definitely recommend to any dental office that is looking for a new dental software.

Pros

I love this software, it is easy to navigate even with zero knowledge of the product. The software makes it easy to figure out how to change or add anything and when I can't find it in the help portal the staff is super helpful and always get back to us quickly when we have a question.

Cons

I haven't found any cons so far with using this software

### "A great, reliable dental software"

October 23, 2019

5.0

I utilize Denticon daily to run my practice. From daily reports to statements, it is a solid product, especially for the price point. Easily navigable screens. Training videos are an added plus.

Pros

I like how user-friendly the software is. If there is something that you need help with, one of the videos can often resolve the problem. If not, it is easy to submit a ticket, which will be answered quite promptly. I also really like the capability of being able to log on from any location, even from my smartphone, using Chrome.

Cons

I'm not an experienced billing specialist, but I did notice when I was posting payments that there are some quirky auto-adjustments that occur. It seems a little complicated and counterintuitive, but it's a minor issue that an experienced biller would be able to either utilize or circumvent.

Reason for choosing Denticon

Price and familiarity. I had previously used Denticon in another dentist's practice that I worked at.

### "So glad we made the switch!"

December 9, 2018

5.0

It's a very useful tool that let's us function at a much higher level than a small office such as ours otherwise could.

Pros

We'd been longtime Dentrix users prior to this -- leaving that behind and switching to Denticon was by far one of the most significantly beneficial changes we've ever made to our office operations. We would never even consider going back. We have found so many benefits and unexpected synergies in using Denticon -- and it seems like we're always discovering a few more. We are sure that it has been a genuine competitive advantage for us -- making it possible for us to keep-up and even excel in today's rapidly-evolving dental practice arena.

Cons

Sometimes I think less opening of new windows, less clicking through steps might be appreciated (but I understand that a lot of that is due to necessary tracking/documentation for security and accountability).

### "Cloud Based Dental Software"

June 1, 2020

5.0

Overall we have been pleased with Denticon and their software. We are able to continue to move forward with technology without being stuck with paper charts, or old ways of doing business. We are constantly evolving and Denticon evolves with us. The ability to access the software from all locations and continue business is a huge advantage over a traditional software program.

Pros

The team at Planet DDS is constantly reaching out to the users and looking to them for the improvements and usability of the software. They are responsive to all inquiries and their customer service is some of the best in the industry.

Cons

Because it is cloud based, if there are internet issues or server issues from Denticon side, the software can go down (rarely occurs though).

### "Faithful to Denticon"

October 4, 2019

5.0

It’s been great

Pros

The ease of use. I was one of the beta users in the early days, and when I felt something needed changing, we would call and the staff at Denticon. Would make the adjustments.

Cons

The cost increases. It’s too bad that early adopters aren’t grandfathered in to a fixed price. This would also encourage dentists to stay with you, because if they left, they would lose their price.

Reason for choosing Denticon

My brothers recommendation

### "Denticon software review"

January 10, 2017

5.0

I really love identical software - When we opened our first dental office 5 years ago, I researched a lot of software. Before even becoming a customer, I was able to go and get a test account online and try it out! At the time (5 years ago )many of the big names did not have a way to check or use the software via the internet. Denticon is cloud based and I can check whatever I need to from anywhere. Easy to use, easy to train on and great when you add or close offices! I 've trained other dental offices on other software and the programs are not as user-friendly! I thought this was one of the best software programs on the market and still think that way today! I would highly recommend it!

Pros

Easy to use and train on. Cloud based. Scaleable. Good reports

Cons

That when you update an address you have to update it then save it and then go back and do it again hitting the update key. Doesn't have a patient confirmation feature built in.

### "Solo practice startup with Denticon"

November 20, 2015

5.0

Cloud based, no servers necessary other than a Network Attached Storage (NAS) drive for my xrays which cost $250. The software is designed for enterprise/large/multiple office practices, therefore it is supremely over engineered for a standard 1-3 doc practice. Denticon is like Dentrix but in the cloud. Denticon has also been around for over 10 years and is a solid company. Things I like: 1. Scheduler shows procedures for the appointment and includes the tooth/surface, unlike other PMS 2. Quick batch entry of EOBs and payments 3. Integrates with Lighthouse 360 well 4. Copies of xrays taken in the office are copied to the cloud via Dentiray, I can view xrays remotely on my iPhone or at home, no need to remote in to my office 5. Denticon does not break: there is never a software update gone bad to worry about, there is never a hardware issue, if there is an internet problem Denticon mirrors your data at multiple data centers across the US 6. Virtual Business Services aka outsourced insurance and aging support: To check and verify/enter insurance plans there is a button on the appointment that sends the patient's insurance info to a Denticon agent in the US who then will verify and enter all the necessary insurance info into the patient file. No one offers that. 7. Realtime eligibility: A button you press in the patient's file that connects with the insurance carrier and gives you an immediate eligibility and benefits remaining report 8. Built in time clock for staff. No other cloud PMS that I looked at offers this. 9. Easy to add new users, new locations/practices Since new ownership software updates have been more frequent but sometimes buggy. Denticon does not have the same grassroots user base interaction/support that is inherent in systems like Dentrix, Open Dental or Eaglesoft because their market penetration is geared towards multiple office/DSO customers.

Overall experience with Denticon have been mostly positive. They are continually adding new features to aid in ease of use.

Pros

I like the fact that it is web-based so I can easily access patient chart from home whenever I need to. Very helpful for after hours emergency calls.

Cons

There used to be an option to call support with any questions. Now, you need to put a ticket in through their help portal and they will email you back.

### "Great All-Around Software, Constantly Improving"

October 18, 2016

5.0

We've been using Denticon since 2007 after switching from Kodak Practice Works. We've been very happy with the existing features, as well as the new features that have been introduced over time. We've been able to remove routing slips and paper charts from our day-to-day practice with this software. We've also been able to seamlessly integrate our digital x-ray software and our payment processing, as well as our electronic claims submission. When we have experienced issues interacting with the software, the PlanetDDS team is always quick to respond. We've also offered a few feature suggestions over the years, and all of them have been implemented. Overall, we're very pleased with the software, and would recommend it to any dental practice.

### "Great PM Software"

August 19, 2016

We've used Denticon for six years, and will continue to do so. The interface, while aesthetically utilitarian, is logical, functional and easy to navigate. The learning curve is very quick for new employees, which is of tremendous value. Most important of all is the prompt, friendly, knowledgeable support. They have the best support team we've ever worked with.

Pros

The Support Team is outstanding. New features and updates are seamless and useful. Great image handling via Apteryx bridge.

Cons

The interface is not as modern and slick as some others, but that is purely cosmetic.
