Pros It's easy to use. Relatively fast. I actually bought Omnipage to get a "second opinion" about a text, meaning I would make OCR of a text with both Abbyy Finereader and Omnipage and combine the two versions. Cons The software hasn't been updated since 2013 which is not satisfactory. A program like Abbyy Finereader is upgraded every year and will do a better job. Pros The most important feature of OmniPage Ultimate is that it generates high-quality text extractions from a variety of sources that we utilize, including PDFs and graphics/scanned documents. We tested several competitors from the open-source world as well as higher-priced competitors before making our selection, and OmniPage Ultimate consistently produced higher quality results than competing products. Cons The user interface is a little less intuitive than it could be; however, having said that, it does not take long to get comfortable with the interface and to fully utilize its functionality. If it were up to me, I would suggest redesigning the UI to make it more intuitive and align it better with modern UX design best practices. It will take even low contrast scans and make a workable final document from it. Definitely take a look at this if your in need of OCR software. It makes a good job detecting the data. Cons I didn't find it that user friendly, and had to read a couple of tutorials and watch videos to learn how to use it properly. Also it fells like it lags a little bit my computer when processing OCR more than other softwares.
