Getting Started and Support

### How easy is it to onboard and train a team on CMiC?

CMiC takes time to learn, especially for admins, accounting teams, and anyone configuring modules or reports. Project users often get productive faster once setup is done. ### What customer support options does CMiC offer, and how do users rate the experience?

CMiC offers FAQ/forum resources and phone support. Features and Usability

### How well does CMiC handle reporting?

CMiC handles construction reporting well when teams invest in setup, training, and customization. My company went live with CMiC in the beginning of 2025 and my employment began July 2025. There was no in-house training, so I had to learn on my own with the help of InExpa. Having experience with other ERP systems, I know the types of queries and reports available. I've been able to get all of the information I need with CMiC.

Pros

I feel it's fairly user friendly. I also like that it's flexible in being able to extrapolate necessary information. Additionally, being able to have some customization is great.

Cons

It would be nice to have a favorites bar on the side to set-up your most used modules for quicker access. Also, the standard financial reports available our lacking in the ability to customize.

Overall I think the system is good just needs to be faster and more seamless. I still use Dropbox to view plans and documents since it's to slow to do so on CMiC.

Pros

That everything is able to link to each other, such as RFI's, change orders, plans and documents. Although it is a bit slow.

Cons

It is sometimes buggy, laggy and slow. Systems like change orders sometimes takes a while to submit/save, same with constuct PM, tagging drawing is buggy/laggy at times.

My overall experience with CMiC has been solid once the system is properly configured. It’s powerful, reliable, and great for job‑costing and financial accuracy, but it does require training and disciplined processes to get the most out of it.

Pros

What I liked most about CMiC is how tightly integrated the financials and job‑costing are. Everything ties back to the job, which keeps data consistent and reduces reconciliation work.

Cons

The learning curve is steep. If your processes aren’t perfectly clean, CMiC can feel rigid and unforgiving.

When it does work properly it has great features there are far more features of the system that I still need to explore and look forward.

Pros

The fact that everything is captured in one software is a great feature, the workflows that it creates are also a nice feature

Cons

The amount of hotfixes and amount of maintenance that is performed seems excessive and many times things just do not work properly. The lack of updated training sheets can also be frustrating

Generally has been a good experience once you get used to the software. There has been some adjustments required by CMiC to customize it the way we want it.

Pros

What we liked the most about CMIC was the integration between accounting and project management sides of the software.

Cons

What we liked least about CMIC is the interfacing. It is not as user friendly as other software we have seen.

It has been challenging for everyone involved to get the system set up and understood. We don't expect a smooth rollout, but are hopeful that six months in we will be in a better place.

Pros

I have yet to discover what it is I like most, we are just now implementing this software and it is extremely difficult to set up.

Cons

The billing setup and the dozens upon dozens of tables that must be set up for each module to function correctly.

My company had Spectrum which we really liked but was getting very expensive. So they decided to switch to the cheaper CMIC. This was a mistake which was realized after about 6 months but by then it was too late to switch back. No one in the company liked it since it was not easy to learn and did not have the capabilities that Spectrum had. I would not suggest this system to any company.

Pros

Lots of training during and after implementation. Did not need Procore (where subcontracts are set up) because it is included with CMIC.

Cons

Not user friendly. You need a lot of tutoring on this system because it is not easy to navigate. Very messy system with not much organization.

Switched from

[Viewpoint Spectrum](https://www.capterra.com/p/175831/Spectrum/)

CMIC was cheaper and we could also get rid of Procore since its functions could be done in CMIC.

Honestly a nice experience I loved it

Pros

The most good thing about CMIC is the availability of integrated project management in the construction industry

Cons

CMIC implementation can be costly, especially for smaller construction companies with limited budgets. The initial setup cost, ongoing maintenance fees, and training expenses may pose financial challenges

CMiC Public Cloud is a great value. The most comprehensive functionality at a great price. Some clients complain that it is confusing or doesn't work well, but thats not the case if it is set up and supported correctly. The key is to have the right people implementing it and an inhouse resource that is experieced and knows the end game. This is not a system for on the job learning. If you plan and staff correctly, CMiC can be very robust and easy.

Pros

It is a fully integrated single source of truth that has the modules you need to do what you need to do. It is very powerful if you plan well, set it up well, and find an experienced internal resource to manage it.

Cons

The user interface could be better, but you have lots of controls to clean it up if you know what you are doing. The system is so large and powerful that learning the controls and backend can take years, so its well worth your while to find the most experienced internal resource you can hire so you have the knowledge before you start implementation. It can be time consuming and expensive to try to fix the system later.

We are converting from CMiC to Paycom 4th QTR for Payroll and HR functions. I am looking for anyone who has done this integration. We have so many questions and can NOT get any help resolving the some issues with Paycom.
