Pros

Fairly intuitive and easy to learn, lots of options, great support with manuals, videos and help screens. Can customize to a fair extend.

Cons

Very slow sometimes and glitchy. Sometimes out of the blue a function does not work properly. Ie when signing up for event we have a waiver that comes up that needs to be acknowledged. One person signs up OK. Then another person, same membership status, no changes on event, tries to sign up and the waiver does not appear. Lots of odd stuff like that. Mostly it just happens one time and you are left scratching your head. Then some thing similar happens in another function. A few functions are more complex and take longer than they should to complete. ANd there are a few processes that just don't make sense. ie The list of registrants appears or disappears depending on registration option setting which is stupid. If I set the option to show registrations, the list of registrations should show regardless of whether registrations ae open/closed/admin.

### "Inflexible modules, poor documentation"

Pretty dismal, tho' some of that may have to do with the way our organization's leadership implemented the transition process. There are far too many features that we don't need, far too many functions, like email, that are unnecessarily complicated and yet less flexible that the previous system we had. Design templates are cheap, cookie cutter modules that are unattractive and not easily adapted to portraying our organization's activities in an appealing and appropriate manner, without considerable additional cost that our non-profit, totally volunteer, service organization cannot afford.

Pros

Expands the capacity of what our organization can do online but is overloaded with features we don't need and don't want to pay for

Cons

(See pro above.) Big moneymaker for the provider, I'm sure, because we are forced to use modules that are not well adapted to the way our organization functions. Some increased functionality for some operations but drastically reduced the effectiveness and flexibility of internal communcations.

### "Club Express is a website content management system and Club Management"

Great Support , easy to use, new features constantly added for free, and it does have a few fee based additional items if you need them. Also Quick-books integration for only $100 one time fee. Solid product 99.995% up time.

Pros

Club Express is a website content management system and Club Management in one package, very granular settings to allow different parts of our Yacht Club users to manage to aspect that applies to them, cutting down on the need for a webmaster/administrator. Does member management, Email blasts( easier than mail chimp) Group members by committee , function etc. Good event Calendar with signup, including paid events. And has good web design features/intial setup support. and support in general is outstanding. they also have a mobile app available.

Cons

I wish that the event calendar could be linked at a google calendar, you can click a button that says add to my calendar, but it doesn't allow the whole event calendar to be shown as a google calendar. And it does cost money every month, but for what you get it is a reasonable fee.

### "By Club Members For Club Members - They Understand"

Club business is easier to do, document, train and delegate when members only have one product to log into. Once we completed the set up phase (with guidance every step of the way) our new board members were able to pick it up and run with it.

Pros

Designed especially for Clubs with all functions in one place. Our last web site design functions didn't include our emails, docs, calendar, membership database or photos. We had to have a separate product for each of those. Now they are all in once place. I only need to train our members on one product that includes everything. Oh, yeah, the App keeps everyone up to date. No more searching through emails to find out what our next ride will be.

Cons

Features that I expected to be in place are still in a Wish List Queue. I am sure they will come but I don't know when. New features are rolling out regularly so I know they hear us and respond.

Reason for choosing ClubExpress

We switched GoDaddy to GreenGeeks and got free emails with our domainname.com. We dropped Constant Contact which cost about the same as ClubExpress but only did emals. Club Express let us abandon Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Gmail accounts. Club Express handles our Membership and Purchases/Refunds so we dont use Excel anymore.

I understand that moving to a new platform will have growing pains. Our hope was that having all processes under one umbrella would make all the administrative processes easier and more efficient. We are hopefully that eventually will be the case.

Pros

Having all administrative functions under one platform - membership dues, events, emailing, etc.

Cons

It is not intuitive and our members don't like using it. The emailing system is not nearly as good as MailChimp or Constant Contact from a creative or marketing standpoint. Text only emails are fine, but other than that, it's very basic compared to other platforms. We also lost contact with membership at one point because there was not a distribution list that allowed for contacting expired members from a certain year or season. We had to temporarily resort back to Mailchimp until the issue was resolved. Customer support is usually prompt with responses, but the level of actual helpfulness is not awesome. I mostly figure things out through trial and error, not from the instruction received from customer support. For it being sold as a platform intended to manage memberships, it's seriously lacking in some very basic tools common to member-based businesses, like guest pass sales & tracking.

### "Terrific Platform for clubs"

We are a garden club of about 200 members and needed a website that would allow us to have a central database for members, documents, and photos; manage events; manage emailings; and be relatively easy to update quickly and be very cost-effective. Plus we were looking for good customer support. Club Express has delivered on all aspects of this. In particular, their customer support (which I don't need very much because the platform is very easy to use), is fantastic. And they constantly improve the software too, taking lots of input from users. Overall, a great product, specifically built for Clubs and Associations. They really understand their target audience.

Pros

Centralized database for our membership and club documents that makes creating emails with newsletters (that are then available on the website) so easy.

Cons

Creating a graphical user interface based on templates is a little clumsy to use, but is certainly serviceable.

We have had club express about 8 years now, it is very easy to use and when we add events it walks you right through step by step. There was an update to the backend a couple years ago that made it easier for people to set everything up and a huge improvement! The con that I listed is more for being able to setup group emails from a mobile device as the editor tool has a floating builder on it that you can't close, on my phone it takes up the entire area of the email body so I am unable to create a email on the go, but otherwise it is great product to use especially from a desktop view

the updated emailing section just has a couple small quirks that could be easily improved on but not major at all

My life, as membership director, is much easier and consistent, since we started using Club Express - I still choose to write personal letters to each member but my successor may choose to use to use the product to do this.

Cons

I didn’t like it when expired members were removed from the database without warning. I think this should only be suggested and be a task that I perform.

### "Functions and modules great, web design options limited"

We have a love/hate relationship with Club Express. It does a good job with primary functions to help us manage our club activities and communication. But the look and feel of our website is limited by the limited tools built into this program. Building a site outside of Club Express is an option but the cost to have it integrated into the Club Express realm is way too much to make that a realistic option. Overall, we're almost embarrassed to send anyone to our site because it looks so dated!

Pros

The club-specific modules and database options are very well thought out and integrate well for several of the main functions needed by our club. Like member directory, email, calendar, paying dues and such. And the security seems to be good, provided you have it protected by an SSL certificate.

Cons

The options for creating stunning websites is just not found in this software. Their Site Editor options have only a handful of templates to choose from, and even those are just thumbnails of screenshots of home pages, not actual templates to look at and evaluate. The layout, font, menu and color schemes are very limited and don't allow for real customization. In short, the web design portion of this software is very poor.

The integration of several club related tasks makes it a good tool to manage our club activities. It just makes it hard to send people to that website since it looks so dated!

All in one - everything is together and can interact, which is helpful. Customer service has been spectacular!

Cons

The aesthetic of the website is a little dated - I wish there were more modern options for the website look and feel. There are little issues with some of the features - like hiding open registrations from the event calendar, automatically syncing email addresses, and more custom options for forms.

### "Great system for our club"

The system makes it easy to maintain and control our membership information and makes the renewal process and collection of dues extremely easy. The ability to schedule and maintain events is also very easy and useful. The availability of blogs and photo albums is also very useful.

Pros

The system provides a wide range of capabilities. Pretty much all of our needs have been met by the standard system and it offers many services that we don't use or need. The few special capabilities that we desired we provided as a custom service at a very reasonable cost.

Cons

Since the users in the volunteer positions often change frequently there is sometimes a problem with the learning curve. The system provides so many functions that our volunteers sometimes have problems devoting the time necessary to adequately learn the capabilities of the system.

This package was head and shoulders above any other club-oriented software we examined. It provided the largest number of functions at a reasonable cost.

I have used and recommended Club Express for over 15 years. The administrative area is amazing. However, I am hearing from my clubs that the websites front pages look outdated and old. I am afraid that if there is not an effort to make the front page design options more attractive, they will move on to another website template.

Through the Forum and the E-mailing features, we have been able to keep our Members more informed and therefore have enjoyed more participation. Being able to collect Membership Dues and Event Fees on line has been very helpful.

Pros

Features can be utilized and/or customized to meet the unique aspects of our social organization.

Cons

I am not the person in our organization that worked to get our site up and running. Unlike any other web site program I have used, I found it difficult at first. After I was able to take the time to learn how ClubExpress works, I became very pleased with the possibilities. ClubExpress was very willing to help me when not sure of the process I was attempting to implement.

I was not the purchaser but was told when I took over the Administration, ClubExpress was chosen because of all of the integrated features that would help take care of many aspects of our Membership.

### "Club Express Management is non responsive to user needs"

Tech support has been fabulous, very helpful and patient. Management, on the other hand, called me (eventually) when I complained about the inability to upload PDF documents, and was extremely insulting. I was told if I didn’t like it, use another provider. No explanation WHY PDFs can’t be used, just a solid “Screw you and don’t call back.”

Pros

We need a web host, a friend set us up with CE. It’s what we have.

Cons

The software will not accept PDF documents in communications. PDF is likely the most common format used anywhere, yet CE won’t accept it.

Cons

Trying to update our website is so frustrating and clunky that I often choose to leave it alone. I’m not a programmer, but I’ve used different web page building software, so I’m not a novice and can usually figure things out. Reporting is not straightforward and it’s difficult to filter for specific criteria.

Joining Club Express simplified maintenance of email lists; compliance with regulations; it centralized the location for payment record keeping; maintains a history of newsletters emailed and events conducted. Our website has more capacity than this, and I look forward to continuing to increase our use of this capacity. (E.g. this year my goal is to simplify our news letter and transition to a blog hosted on the website.)

Pros

It is easy for me to connect with the actual software developers/managers via email. When I did my review of options from various providers of "association management software" and ultimately purchased from Club Express, they offered the most features with technical support at the most affordable price. The "demo" was with the founder of the company. They communicate frequently via email regarding system updates and regulations that affect direct emailing and website maintenance. I trust that can do everything in one place (maintain membership lists, send automated dues notices, generate newsletters and distribute via email, receive dues & event payments) and be sure that I'm in compliance.

Cons

It is its own platform, so if you have others using the system who are already familiar with other systems, they may express frustration when this platform doesn't perform the same way. But my experience is that Club Express is responsive to needs that we customers communicate and are constantly improving. (E.g. generating nice looking emails has become significantly easier in the time that we've been clients.)

### "Creating value for our club using Club Express"

We like the constant activities to improve and expand the website, even if the additions are not relevant to our club...we like the training videos....we like the personal tech support when we need it.

Pros

The basic modules that most clubs use and need are structured for quick set-up and modification. Also, once you become acquainted with the software, it is intuitively useable, and all functions use the same methodology. It is quite adaptive to a clubs function and modifying as needs change.

Cons

There are a few too many steps that can cause frustration...especially when filling out a form and saving it. Also, you must realize there can be a time lag between adding something new (like an article) and its appearance. This can cause new users to make multiple entries because they thought their prior entry was not accepted. Also, it is somewhat too complicated for new members to establish their profile. Importantly, two communications tools are significant to our newer and younger members (or potential members)...texting and Social Media. We rejected the texting module as not functionally valuable to our needs...and we are just integrating the Social Media sharing, so we will learn the extent of its value to our club.

We have a reliable, easy-to-use web solution that has a distributed workload model. The webmaster might make a custom page with code, but the majority of work is done by non-technical members who don't have to wait for a coder to make things happen.

Pros

Ready to go. Made for clubs. The best feature is that it's not technical for club members to handle their areas. The social director (non technical) can make events on the website. The membership director can adjust member data. No training needed. So productive out of the box.

Cons

There are no "like least". I evaluated 5 major website offerings and I recommended this to our club. (sailingclub).

Management and Membership of a medium sized cycling club can be a problem with multiple sources of data - inconsistent presentation and ad-hoc business processes. Communications with members and the public can often be inconsistent and un professional. Combining the web-hosting component with the management system and some structured web page design models enables a small organization run by volunteers to project a more sophisticated image and deliver much improved member service for a price that is not a lot more than our previous web hosting only platform.

Pros

Comprehensive club management system, Availability and reliability, excellent support, value for money, subscription based pricing, outstanding documentation and support versus most of the software industry.

Cons

There is not a lot to find fault with in the ClubExpress system - for our Canadian organization we could use more flexibility in the payments side of the system.

ClubExpress was clearly designed to deliver exactly what our Club needed, compared to some competing products which were aimed at health club management or were simple pieces of limited function application offerings.

### "Great Progress with Club Express"

We have solved the issue of the high cost of producing monthly newsletters. This site has allowed us to keep in touch with our members on a minutes notice. It's easy to use and we would be lost without it.

Pros

Our carving club has gained members as a result of using this site. Our members have great access to post photos, blogs and more. The site has allowed us to post our monthly club newsletters which has saved us a lot of money over the years we have been using Club Express.

Cons

That is a tough question to answer. We've always gotten great support when we don't understand a function here and there.

We are a woodcarvers club and some of our members are also wood turners. The Badger Woodturners had already been using Club Express when our club finally convinced older members that we needed to get up to date with younger people. BWT guys convinced us that this is the correct to have our site.

### "Two Clubs View"

We aren't a business. I web manage two clubs - one a fly fishing club and one an art association. So you need to change this survey to more correctly isolate the fields you are looking for. Club express is fine and we are happy with it.

Pros

It provides good communication with both members and non-members whom we would like to have investigate our clubs. Lots of features and flexibility. The record keeping is good and we make use of the reports regularly. Lots of updates with new revisions that have taken into account our requests in the past for additions or corrections to various features.

Cons

The on screen editors have always been a problem although they are vastly better than they were 10 years ago. The editors still generate superfluous HTML that does nothing but increase the file size sent over the line. You need good computer background to make it sing.

ClubExpress has dramatically improved our ability to manage membership renewals, as well as improve our communication with our membership.

Pros

Ease of use.... The website builder is very good and can be integrated with all the other features in ClubExpress. Flexibility..... You can taylor the system to your needs. Functionality....its feature set is very comprehensive. Document management via its document library. System Stability - We have not found any areas of the system that are unstable or "buggy".

Cons

It doesn't yet integrate with XERO.....but I understand it is on the way. It doesn't yet integrate with STRIPE....but I understand it is on the way. These two limitations are not deal breakers to us as we, at the moment, use other systems for accounting and membership renewals. ClubExpress allows us to update its finance section with what we need although this is a manual process until STRIPE is integrated in 2020. Being a small organisation this is not such a big deal for us although I do understand that it could be a big issue for large organisations.

Value for money, feature set and ease of use. ClubExpress is very easy to use and reasonably priced for the full feature set you get.
