### "ClubExpress for non-profit operation"

It serves as the database for all members, volunteers, and interested parties for our organization. Also has a good communications module, service request module, events/calendar module, and finance module. Plus it provides a framework for our webpage. The comprehensive nature is appealing.

Pros

It's very comprehensive and very affordable.

Cons

It takes time and research to understand all the functionality, and to determine which parts we want to use. Many background details are not intuitive, but the user manual and customer support are excellent.

had already demonstrated their success with many organizations so we knew it wasn't likely to disappear. The comprehensive approach of the software and the affordability were determining factors.

Very positive - any problems I've reported or questions I've asked have been quickly dealt with.

Pros

Very easy to implement, and to transition from our previous website. Updates happen behind the scenes and without requiring our input, and without needing us to perform endless reconfiguration every time a release level of a certain function changes. Easy to administer, and nice granularity for distributing administrative functions. Everything just works.

Cons

Being US-based and subject to different banking regulations (from Australia) the various options around money handling aren't quite as flexible as we'd like. Probably a regulatory more than a software issue.

### "Create script software"

Financial controls work nicely with PayPal. However, it is difficult for a single member to feel comfortable working with . The controls operate at a very detailed level, which discourages users from exploring. The details and different pathways are discouraging to the end user. ClubExpress should create a script language that rides above the atomic-level controls. This script language could incorporate the detail-level instructions to help the end user get what they need quickly - without having to search or call tech-support.

Pros

The features give control down to the atom level.

Cons

The features are difficult to find. The software is not intuitive. There is no drag and drop capability.

Our business of maintaining membership and personal editable data within this program saves us time. The variety of reports lets us handle specific areas without going through lots of data. Overall it is reliable and somewhat user friendly.

Pros

It is very versatile to our organizations' need for quick and detailed reports. Plus the extra formats allow us to convert it to any of our programs for further editing.

Cons

It seems that the language used for some executions are not always the same as the computer jargon we grew up with.

### "A Membership Chairperson's Dream"

As the Membership Chairperson for my Alumni Chapter, has made the tracking, processing, and execution of our organization's membership function extremely efficient.

Pros

Very straight-forward and efficient screens for processing membership function for our organization. Even members who only access the system to renew/update their membership dues/information are able to do so with relative ease, even though some of our multiple year members may not return to the site for from two to three years. There are so many capabilities of that we as an organization have not even used, which increases the likelihood of our continued use for many years to come.

Cons

I can not think of any negative aspects of the software from my perspective.

As mentioned, Club Express gave us a central location for membership, communications, and event planning.

Pros

This software is great for a volunteer organization such as ours. It gave us a data base, the ability to collect dues and monies on line, bulk email to our members, Calendars, forums, media sections. This is a very comprehensive tool.

Cons

Emails can some times be an area where more knowledge is necessary to reach specific parties.

We did look at another product but that was 8 years ago and I do not remember the name of the software. Club Express came highly recommended by the League of American Bicyclists and I remember the differences between CE and their competitor were substantial.

Co-ordinating the operations of our Virtual Village service organization across 10 Call Managers & 65 volunteers such that all of our Members get the service they need without fail. Everyone who needs to can see whatever information they need instantly.

Pros

How thoroughly it does what we need done & the reports as well as allowing all our people to use it in a completely co-ordinated manner.

Cons

The user interface that many of us found difficult to understand that caused a difficult learning curve. Several of our Call Managers quit because they could not learn it.

We followed the lead of a Village that had be in operation for 3 years in a setting that was as much like our own as we could find and who had a tech person willing to help.

Excellent. The support team has always been prompt and accurate in answering our questions.

Pros

I can not imagine a software package that provides greater value for the cost than Club Express. The capabilities broad and the company is always improving and enhancing the product. The help system and video tutorials are extremely helpful.

Cons

Users have had to wait for waitlist functionality, but that component will be fully functional in the foreseeable future .

We had no integrated system before moving to Club Express. We had a mostly static webpage and used Eventbrite, Pay Pal, Survey Monkey and a lot of manual copying and pasting to get reports and other functions. Vast improvement!

### "Club Express has simplified everything for Volunteer non-profit club"

The past 3 years of using has saved me hours each month in managing the membership for our Archery club. For 7 years I use to be the only one that could send out email notifications due to having the master list in Access DB. Renewal notifications are a breeze now with Club Express. The documents that I have been storing on my personal computer are now online. Setting up the Event reminders that I need to perform each year can now allow me to pass this position to a new club member. Other board members have been able to pick up the use of calendar events, emailing, and recording attendees for our work day. So many tasks that I once did have now been automated! It was the best decision we have made. Well worth the money for a volunteer who works a full-time job.

Pros

Membership management allows for auto renewal notices Emailing can be done by other club board members -- no more mail merge using Word/Excel Event calendar reminder for administrative tasks Document library is HUGE to gather key documents on the website and off my hard-drive! Ease of configuration to set up events.

Cons

Inconsistency in the fields provided for membership reports between Renewal Detail and a New Member.

Generally good. It's been frustrating to keep up with the many iterations of the software, especially as we were just getting started. But I'm glad they are continually improving it and supporting the improvements. Getting full value from it can take more time than a volunteer or member may want to give but it's rewarding once you've got an experienced team.

Pros

It had features especially designed for virtual villages like ours. It was popular among groups like ours. It covered most of what we thought we would need it for, including our own public website and a portal for members.

Cons

Setting it up took a long time, and the learning curve was steep, especially for our members, who are not typically computer savvy. This is the price for complex functionality.

I am a member/administrator of NAMC. We used Socializer then GroupSpaces and now Club Express. Club Express is by far the best package used or even tested.

Pros

The richness of its features and the customer care.

Cons

1\. The designers fail to think about how to open a screen and focus the attention of the user on the area of the screen where the user's attention should be directed. 2. The lack of an incorporated database with the ability to do simple inquires. 3. Over-whelming confirmations.

We have found an easy way to manage our membership lists, renewals and communications.

Pros

None of our administrators are 'techies'. The learning curve on using the software is not steep and so using it does not involve a lot of frustration and uncertainty--User Friendly one could say.

Cons

Costs. Since we are a relatively small club consisting only of volunteers the cost at first glance seems a lot. With time we have come to realize that even though there are many features we don't presently use, we may need them in the future and if they then work for us as well as the features we presently use, it will all be worth it.

We manage all of our data output through club express. Clients can find everything and anything they might need about us through our website. We love the fact that we can process payments for our various events and for contributions giving our clients another option for payment.

Pros

The software is user friendly. The online resource directly is helpful and easy to access.

Cons

I do not like the method in which you have to upload pictures. Often I will add a picture and I can not find it again for future use and the system tells me it already exists.

The alternative for us was to create a stand alone site. There ultimately was not a comparison between the two options as club express meets all of our needs.

### "Every thing we need"

There was only spreadsheet based member management before. That is now much simplified. Previously we paid for mailing list management. We now do that ourselves. The home page was not maintained. We now have a framework, with the help of CE, to easily keep the home page current.

Pros

Member management and ticket sales for concerts are working well now.

Cons

There are some issues that have not been resolved. The response has been good in fixing issues. However, the past president still appears on invoices and member renewal emails.

All of our requirements were met by CE. The ongoing costs are very competitive. CE is a very responsive organization. The training views are excellent.

Pros

It has a calendar, photos and registering capabilities in one place.

Cons

There are no notices sent to admin that a message has come in for approval. The accounting system is so difficult and cumbersome we are discontinuing using it. It is not user-friendly. We still have members overwhelmed with the intricacies of working with it after over a year. There is too much redundancy. For example to sign up for an event where there is a price attached to it. After the event, you have to go in and cancel them even though they did not pay through the website. It compiles a lot of data we do not need. We will be scaling our usage down considerably or selecting another company.

### "Works great for our social boating club!"

The overall experience with has been very positive. The website works for us and it's easy to maintain. When we do have questions the support team is fantastic at responding and providing solutions for us.

Pros

Our goals as a club was to have a stable communication platform (emails, website calendar, member directory) and to allow members to register and pay for events online. The platforms has fulfilled these goals very well. The emails allow for customization but also are easy for a novice to learn. Managing events, registrations, and payments is also very easy to have a variety of people perform. Not everyone needs to be an expert user.

Cons

Our club operates in some ways that are at odds with how is set up. In the few cases when this has happened, we've been able to figure out ways to make it work for us (with the help of the Support team). This means we need to manage a 'how to' document that explains how our club uses ClubExpress. Not a big deal, but something we will need to maintain going forward.

Club Express provides a dependable and functional website with many features. Some of its features are difficult and/or cumbersome to use. Emailing is the most cumbersome, but there are certainly areas that are not at all intuitive or user friendly.

Pros

Ability of multiple people to maintain our website.

Cons

The emailing feature is terrible and causes us to use Google Groups to easily contact our members. But that leads to having to maintain a separate list of members, which has proven cumbersome. I also had great difficulty in migrating from Quicken to QuickBooks for our club. Now, after being on it for some time, I think QuickBooks operates acceptably.

### "Complete but not simple"

Getting to launch more work than expected. You still need a technical type for maintaining and improving. Easy to get mishmash result when adding to web pages so look and feel standards need to be enforced by you. But the level of integration is awesome. We have eliminated checks, made attendance at events easy to track, can conduct robust member searches. The monthly fee is silly low for what you get.

Pros

Everything we need is in this package. Pricing very competitive. Nice folks to deal with. Lots of topic training for new features.

Cons

You still need to do a lot technically to launch, hard for volunteer organizations. Not a lot of help from them on design and layout. The database is shockingly inflexible, hard to add fields. Does NOT use Wordpress front end so good luck finding third party help on improving user interface.

### "ClubExpress for Rotary Clubs"

Low cost for a decent website is the biggest benefit. Overall experience has been good.

Pros

Fairly easy for anyone who doesn't know much about developing websites to use. Overall it's a simple alternative for Rotary Clubs who need a website presence but don't want to put a huge amount of work into it. I help teach other Rotary Clubs how to use the software and it's not difficult to teach. Everything works on the same premise.

Cons

Registration system needs to be more robust. We use a specific look and feel created for our Rotary District. It needs to be updated with possibly more options to choose from. Helpful hints built into the system would go a long way if it's possible to do that.

Managing renewals and new memberships for a rapidly growing 500+ member all volunteer organization using Excel spreadsheets had become a burden. Not only has saved us administrative time and effort, it has may signing up for membership and renewing existing memberships faster and easier on the members. Migrating our website has made it easier for us to keep it up to date for both the public side and member only portions of the site.

Pros

allowed us to move from several different software platforms and manual recordkeeping for our member management, website hosting, event management, surveys, etc. It has made my job as Membership Manager & Treasurer so much easier - us saving time and money.

Cons

Haven't found anything yet that I don't like about it after nine months.

Not knocking our former membership services company, but I frequently tell members that the services now are ten times better than before. The ability for us to manage our own database is a drastic improvement in customer service. I estimate that I have only learned 15% of what our new site is capable of. Cannot wait to learn more.

Pros

The expandability of services. There are more bells and whistles than I can comprehend. From the platforms I am currently using, it is easy to work in and gives me a wide range of reporting.

Cons

Whatever issues I have had with the software was adjusted by my team and it works the way I envisioned it.

I worked with the CE sales team for over two years before making the switch. We are a 12,000 member organization and there are lots of moving parts. We needed the ability to have a 90-day transition between the old and new software. It worked great.

Overall our experience with the product is excellent and our organization couldn’t operate without it.

Pros

Our club puts on approximately 30 events a month. We depend on the event scheduling to create events that our members can signup for using the calendar. The attendance tracking is also essential.

Cons

Some of the interfaces tend to be a bit admin centric so some users find interacting a little non-intuitive. We wish there was a REST based interface to our data so that I could automate some processes and reports and not have to use a web browser.
