It's been great, I've been using it now for 5+ years and it's been great.

Pros

The most pronounced feature this software has is it's ease of use and flexibility.

Cons

Honestly, there really isn't any cons to this software. It has all of the functions you would need to operate and keep track of member profiles. Not to mention they are growing and adding things all the time. If I had to list on thing, it would be that there isn't an online member portal, but I'm told it's on its way.

Overall, it’s been a positive experience. There have been a few bugs with updates that were frustrating., but support was quick to respond and resolve the issues. In the end, everything worked out and I’m happy with the results.

Pros

We’ve had a great experience with Gym Assistant. The system is very easy to use day-to-day, which makes training staff simple and keeps front desk operations running smoothly. Their customer support is a 10/10. \[sensitive content hidden\] are quick to respond and always helpful when we need something. The automated billing works reliably and takes a lot off our plate, and the addition of mobile app access and online signups has been a huge upgrade for both us and our members. One of the biggest advantages is the pricing model. Once you purchase it, you’re not locked into ongoing monthly fees unless you choose to add upgraded features.

Cons

It doesn’t have quite as many features as we’d like for more specific use cases. The online signup flow could also be more polished, especially when it comes to offering membership options. Right now, if you want to offer something like a Basic Single Membership with different payment terms (month-to-month, 3-month, 6-month, annual), it will pop up as a different membership option in the same drop down menu. It would be much cleaner to have those options built into a separate dropdown so the signup page doesn’t feel as crowded or repetitive.

It is okay. It is the only system that we have had at the Harbor House. I have not used any other membership software. It does what we need it to do.

Pros

Ease of adding members and tracking their usage. I like the different reports that I can get. It is useful when I need to email the members.

Cons

Lately we have been having trouble with the gym assistant and the gatekeeper not sycing.When that happens, any new members or renewals added- their swipe cards do not work.

Absolutely love the system, it's that simple. The pay up front and get what you pay for, non subscription base is a great model in comparison to all the other products on the market.

Pros

I like the buy up front systems and hardware, compared to a constant monthly fee. I love the customer service and support we get, great people to work with.

Cons

There has been a couple of request for additional reporting attributes, as well as update Credit Card readers that haven't come to fruition.

Good. The employees are helpful. I wish there was an assigned person to me so I didn’t have to teach em about my gym every time we chat to problem solve.

Pros

Now that I know the system, I do like it. I wish I had received better training on it. I don’t think I’m using it to its fullest.

Cons

I’d like it to offer me debt collections option. I want it to collect the past due memberships. I’d like a you tube channel to train me on using it to its fullest. I’d like someone one the EAST coast to be available to call. I can’t always wait on California time. I’d like a conference or convention to learn more tips n techniques about GA and the advantages of using it over other programs.

Gym Assistant has been great to work with! Our customer service rep is very knowledgable, and helps us fix any minor confusion or mishaps we have come across.

Pros

Gym Assistant is so easy to use! I am able to teach my employees the system quickly and efficiently. I like how we can make our own notes for our members so that employees can let management know if there is something we need to be aware of.

Cons

The only thing I dislike about Gym Assistant is that you have to go into a separate page to see text messages from a member.

Limited merchant service choices. For gun software there is a very limited amount of merchant choices and they are very expensive.

It’s been really great, honestly. My husband passed away and I’ve been running his gym since that time, May 27, 2023. I helped him once in a while behind the counter but I’ve learned a lot more about it over the last 18 months and I’ve really found it to be helpful. I know the rest of his team feels the same way. Thank you.

Pros

I like how we get so much information on each person, the number of visits the last time they checked in, how long they’ve been a member, we have the option of entering how much they paid the last time because we have a lot of discounts and it really helps us know what discount the person had. We can also see if they are a three month member or a month member or a six month member or a yearly member. It’s just been very helpful.

Cons

Well, I need to learn more about how to create reports. I love being able to see how many people came in during a day or a week or the past month or the past year, but I’d love to be able to print those out and have more understanding about how to use that feature. I also would love to know how to determine how many current clients we have. I can’t figure that out yet.

Pros

The software is easy to use and requires minor knowledge on how to use a computer. For the most part it’s easy to figure out on your own.

Cons

Once a member is deleted you can’t reuse that member number.

Good system overall for what it does. Poor customer service.

Pros

Able to allow 24 hour access to our gym through the card software. Its easy to use most of the time, but there are some glitches. Easy process and new member entry. We like the SMS feature that sends text to notify of denied access or membership due.

Cons

Its expensive. The customer service is non-exsistant once you pass your initial trial unless you pay them an unreasonable customer service fee. They won't even respond back to you on small questions unless you pay them first. Every little option cost extra. In a small gym like ours this gets to be very expensive and digs into our overhead. Their system is very off and on again and sometimes freezes up and won't let people in, usually on weekends when the office staff isn't there. We would switch, but honestly there isn't another option for 24hr access systems.

Overall the Gym Assistant system works great and customer service is very responsive. I should learn more about the new features. I am sure that I do not take advantage of all it has to offer.

Pros

The card swipe system manages the people who can get into the facility. It works great! Since purchasing Gym Assistant, I do not need to come back to the gym to lock up. As an add benefit, I know who has "checked in". If there were lights left on or a "mess" on the floor, I can get ahold of the members that were in the gym during that time. Our members also appreciate knowing that people who come into the gym are recorded members.

Cons

I have had the system for many years, but setting up the door swipe system was not easy. I needed to be an electrician in to help with the wiring.

Reason for choosing Gym Assistant

I do not remember all the products that I originally looked into. I am sure the reason I chose Gym Assistant was a combination of customer satisfaction and price. We are a small gym and could not afford an expensive tracking system.

We bought our first gym in 2016 and chose Gym Assistant because of it's value and simplicity. We have since added a second location with over 1,000 members along with a retail shop. Gym Assistant has been robust enough to grow with us. They continue to expand the product and the support has been outstanding.

Pros

I love the value that you get. From starting your first location with 100 members to expanding to multiple locations with 1,000+ members, Gym Assistant is robust enough to handle it. Easy to train new employees to add new members, ability for multiple membership packages, flexibility with monthly or daily billings. Point of sale add on for snack bars or retail merchandise is a great interface.

Cons

Could use a class scheduling module. Also, ability to have dual entry for the controllers, a fob and a 4 digit code for the keypad.

Overall, I am very satisfied with Gym Assistant and it's features.

Pros

Gym Assistant was very easy to setup and learn. We primarily use it for membership management and payment processing at our fitness center. The Gym Assistant help center was very helpful in getting setup and always available to help with any questions. Overall, we are very happy with this product.

Cons

It would be very helpful if you could process more than one transaction at a time, instead of billing a member's card twice. For example, if a member wanted to purchase a class punch card and merchandise, it would be helpful to run it as one transaction.

Overall, we like the program. A few updates to correct the cons I listed would be great.

Pros

The software is user friendly and easy to teach to most people. I like that each screen prompts you what to do on the following screen. I like that it is easy to customize, and easy to find members by first name, last name or member number.

Cons

I do not like having to enter a password for everything done. I do not like that you can not split member payments--for example, members pays 20 in cash and 30 in credit card. I have yet to find an option to split the payment into two methods. I do not like that when you update the primary account the changes do not carry over to all dependents in that account. It would be nice to have integrated ACH and CC payment to be easier to set up. We are not able to use that function of the software.

The ability to purchase the software and not pay a monthly fee and how user friendly it looked to be.

### "I am not the best to do a real review"

I wish I had this one 15 years ago when I started, I had time back then and I would have been able to figure out all the awesome functions to this program. I see them, but I still need to find the time to explore and call the company for help doing an accurate set up. As far as getting members signed up and be able to get them in the door and paying fees to keep the facility doing through this pandemic is priceless!

Pros

I liked it because with the help of my son, the set up was easy and the company was very helpful with taking him through the process. I like the fact that for a $100/year, I can have the company at my disposal to talk me through any questions I may have in setting it up. The 24/7 access is wonderful. Even if the electricity takes down the computer, the unit allows current members to still check in and keeps the information for me to put on the computer when I can get the program running again.

Cons

Taking time to use it to it's fullest is not something I have found yet. This is not the software's fault, it is mine.

Reason for choosing Gym Assistant

I had help from my son who knew my previous program, and he felt that this one would be a good switch and would more than accomplish what I needed.

We opened Path to Peace Wellness Center in 2014, and began using Gym Assistant at that time. I don't know how we would have managed without it! We have to pull reports for grants and other reports and this system is great to get what we need. I highly recommend Gym Assistant!

The ease of use. It is very user friendly. Our organization has to do reports for yearly audits, we can easily pull the reports we need.

Cons

Integration was somewhat difficult, but the tech support was great.

We have used Gym Assistant for 9 years. It has made life so much easier to have this product! It keeps us organized and makes reporting so much easier.

Cons

I have never had any issues with Gym Assistant.

Great product, does what its says it will do. Continually updated and a perfect fit

Pros

The software is very user friendly. We run a busy Community Gym and the functionality and ease of use of the system makes it a perfect fit for our operation. Obviously due to COVID-19 we had to close our facility but the GA Team's response, made its easier on re-opening. The software change to allow us to update our membership records globally to cater for the closure of 105 days and extend our memberships to correspond was extremely helpful. From the very beginning ( over 10 years a Customer) we have found the Customer support extremely proactive. As we are in Ireland and use € euro rather than $ Dollar, the team changed the currency for us to make it appropriate for our market. Overall we are extremely delighted with Gym Assistant.

Cons

Nothing really except the various descriptions such as delinquent, terminated etc...which would not be usual terms in our market.
