### "Waystar - definitely not a Star"

Overall, we have been less than completely impressed with . Although it's easier than our previous software, it gets very cumbersome when looking for a particular claim and its actual outcome. You can pull up a claim number, and it shows it went to the payer, but it never got there per the payer, resulting in timely filing denials. So now, we just can't rely on what's on the Waystar portal.

Pros

is much easier to use than our previous clearinghouse. We receive timely notifications via email when enrollments are due, which makes keeping up with all of the insurance companies easier.

Cons

falls short in terms of customer service support. It just seems like the customer service representatives just want to close the case, not actually fix the problem. It's infuriating when they just decide to close a case without even checking to see if the problem has been resolved.

### "Can't imagine switching! "

Overall experience has been good. They are the first Clearinghouse I have ever used but all in all, between their reports, automations, reports, and affordability, I can't imagine switching.

Pros

It does an excellent job with automations to determine front line rejections and access to eligibility and remits is very user friendly

Cons

Support cases are often hard to solve with several steps involved and sometimes cases being closed before full resolution

### "Best Clearinghouse!"

Pros

is the best clearinghouse! I have been using them for 15 years and couldn't be happier. They have great customer support. They identify in the claim when there is a rejection what the issue is. You can pull copies of submitted claims. Pull EOBs. I like that you can have users assigned to individual clinics and not all clinics in the waystar account - great for a billing company!

Cons

The biggest issue I have is that they archive claims and remits after 2 years. With the world of audits and takebacks it would be nice to be able to get older items.

Cons

My only complaint is that we couldn’t submit claim attachments like notes or eobs but I’m not sure if any software can do this

### "Beware of Waystar’s Hidden Auto-Renewal & Illegal Price Hikes"

traps medical providers into multi-year contracts with unfair terms, sneaky price hikes, and no ethical way to exit. If you sign up, be prepared for hidden fees, forced renewals, increased pricing, and an uphill battle if you ever try to leave. If you’re a practice owner, read the fine print carefully before signing with Waystar. There are better clearinghouse services out there that are more capable, affordable with seamless EHR integration that don’t rely on deception to keep customers. We originally signed a contract in 2015 with Navicure, which later became Waystar. The contract contained a 24-month auto-renewal clause, meaning if we didn’t cancel at least 90 days before renewal, we were locked in for another 2 years because they use a "go live date" instead of the signed contract date and considered us passed the 90 day window to cancel before auto renewal. In January 2025, we received only 60 days’ notice (not the required 90) that our prices would increase. The price increased from $115.43 to $365.43 per month—a greater than 200% increase, when the contract explicitly states that annual increases cannot exceed 5% unless justified by CPU-H inflation rates. They refused to allow early termination unless we paid out the full term upfront for services we wouldn’t even be able to use.

Pros

We had been customers for 10 years, back when it used to be Navicure. I can't believe this is how they treat long term customers.

Cons

🚨 Predatory Auto-Renewals: The contract renews for two years at a time, and they do not send proper reminders before you’re locked in again. 🚨 Unlawful Price Increases: They increased our rates without contractually required notice and far beyond what was allowed (over 200%) 🚨 No Way to Leave: They refuse to let clinics exit the contract early unless you pay the entire balance upfront—even if you’re not using the service. 🚨 Data Access Held Hostage: If you terminate, you instantly lose access to all claims and financial data unless you pay additional fees to reactivate.

I love . We have the option to use another software, but I still prefer to use Waystar.

Pros

I love the ease of use and how quickly I receive results. It shows us when names are wrong, or when an insurance number has been entered incorrectly.

Cons

There are times when the system doesn't work but that rarely happens.

I think overall I like and would recommend it to a facility that needs it. I think that it is nice to have the option to take payment easy for patients and be able to show them even the break down of a payment plan so easy.

Pros

The convivence of being able to take a patient's payment, it is super easy to set up patient payment plans, collect balances and even useful if needing to do over the phone. It allows me to attach to every visit which is super helpful and if a patient comes in more than once we can see that they are already on a payment plan and it helps a lot.

Cons

That it doesn't flow into Practice Management very well. I wish that if a payment was collected prior to the visit that it would flow into PM to make it more efficient.

Overall I do like and would be hesitant to leave. It is very intuitive and we have very little issues with claims.

Pros

is very easy to use. Its features are robust and we have very limited issues with Waystar. We have to give very little Waystar training to our new employees because it is so easy to use.

Cons

In general I feel things run fairly smoothly with but when they \*don't\* I feel it is hard to get help or clarification on issues. We are often advised to contact the payer or it takes a while to hear back on more complicated tickets. Downtime of various applications has increased recently as well.

Reason for choosing Waystar

We were with Navicure prior to the acquisition and wanted to stick around as we had such great customer service with Navicure.

Overall, you are able to generate and send all billing with ease. I've ran revenue cycle departments using this product and find it meets all the needs to be efficient and accurate. I've used Ability and is much easier to navigate.

Pros

is an easy to use software to manage your revenue cycle. It is simple to teach those that have had no experience using it. The RA's are easy to post in your system. It is easy to navigate.

Cons

They only keep information up to 2 years, so when you are audited or are researching old balances, you can't find the EOB's. There needs to be a feature that you can send claims to and make changes to the claim without it electronically going to a payor. (IV home health claims). Customer service is lacking people who have actually used the product. So, when you call they don't understand the issue. They are slow.... in responding to tickets/issues.

### "Choose Another Company...much better options out there than Waystar"

I haven’t been happy with the service when they were NAvicure or .

Pros

I didn’t feel that their software was very useful.

Cons

The company is costly. There clearinghouse isn’t very effective with all insurances. I had to manually bill some insurances since their clearing house couldn’t do it. They charge you extra to find out about denials. When you have issues, you can’t reach customer service well. There customer service isn’t good with getting back to you. When you leave their service, they require 90 notice to get there money. When you give notice on April 24, they cancel you on 7/30 to get as much money as they can. By the way, my renewal date was June 1, but they still made me go to 7/30 to pay them. When asked to talk to a supervisor, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] in Customer Relations kept telling me that I had to pay up to 7/30 or could pay all 90 days fees now to be done on 4/30. I asked 3 times for a supervisor and didn’t hear from anyone. They just want money and don’t care about their customers.

### "Best Software for Medicare Billing for Home Health"

Overall, is an excellent tool for Medicare and non Medicare Billing, user friendly and very dynamic. It helps billers stay organized and on top of timely filing issues.

Pros

what I like most about this software is their ability to manually entering claims daily. While other clearing houses take 48 to 72 hours to process claims, does so daily and within a few minutes. This feature assures the user that their claims will be billed in a time sensitive way. It is simple to use to run insurance verification, making the software useful not only to the billers, but also to other departments like Intake, and Authorizations. It has a lot of options to run Revenue Cycle reports, and it has improved our collections tremendously.

Cons

The only negative aspect that I see is that lately their customer support is lacking resources. A few months ago, we were able to get someone to help over the phone after a few minutes of hold, and lately, their call hold time exceeds 45 minutes to an hour sometimes. Their customer service through email option, even though is very efficient, it takes a couple of days to receive an answer back, and some issues need to be resolved faster than that.

Pros

I love the dashboard, and rejected claim dashboard. I can make corrects and resubmit claims directly through . it shows all the history. we can verify most insurances including medicare on waystar.

Cons

it take to long to receive the same/similar information back from medciare. other programs that I have used in the past the information comes back instantly. I don't think I have ever been able to get he information in under 5 minutes on . also there has been many time the same/similar function was not working. I also wish there was a way to get the payments run in waystart to post automatically into our system and we need more auto options.

Pros

It is just easy to work with. I don't use all of the features but the ones I do use are very user friendly. The charge entry is very easy and so is looking up the remits for payments. When I post payments it is so much easier to look in then other websites.

Cons

I don't really have a any problems with it other then lately if we reverse and rebill an account it won't let me rebill it again if it needs to be done again. I end up having to delete everything to zero and redo it all even adding the payments back it. It didn't used to be this way.

### "The best clearinghouse, etc I’ve ever used"

We’ve used Zirmed/ for years after switching from Gateway EDI (now Trizetto). It’s so much more user friendly and easier to search for information in batches. The customer support is WAY better, as well. Waystar has tickets you can track yourself, where as if you open a ticket in Trizetto you can’t see it afterwards so you have to keep your own records so they don’t forget about you.

Pros

is the most user friendly and comprehensive clearinghouse I’ve ever used. It’s extremely simple to search out needed information. It links with our Practice Management software systems making file submission a breeze. And the batch history And search options make it easy to Find anything you’re looking for. I like that it has a patient credit card payment feature, but I admit, we’re not using that to the full extent it’s capable of, yet.

Cons

The reporting could be more extensive. We don’t have the analytics feature because the same info is in our systems, but I’m sure that would solve that issue. The billing is a little confusing. We have a parent account that used to be Zirmed and another large account that used to be Navicure. They are now both since they merged but the billing is completely different on both accounts.

Before we got (Zirmed), we would either submit the claims on paper (which is hard to track) or through the payers provider portal. We would need to maintain a dozen or so username and password for various websites. You would need to sign up for a lot of websites. With Waystar, all you need is one username and password. You can electronically submit claims to various payers with one click. Waystar will scrub the claim to see if there are any front end rejections. If the payer rejects the claim, you can correct it within Waystar without having to go back to the EMR and correct it. You can track your claims within Waystar. You can download an excel spreadsheet with the information you need.

Pros

You have the ability to correct claims that get rejected by the insurance company. will scrub your claims even before they sent it off you the insurance company. The layout is very user-friendly and straight forward. If the Payer allows it, remittance advice can be downloaded and uploaded to the EHR software. Claims can be copied if you have to enter them manually. YOu don't need to reenter the whole patient information over and over again.

Cons

You'll need to call in order to add a child account. The claims status should be updated if the claim has been paid. Right now, the last status you'll get us if the claim is recieved by the Payer.

I have been working with for over 20 years and would recommend the ease of use.

Pros

We are able to have claim sweeps hourly and 277 transactions feed back into our system to ensure full claims process. Any errors are routed appropriately. We also use the eligibility and claim status functions. Having the ability to check eligibility without going to a payer portal is a game changer.

Cons

Support seems to have declined since the beginning of Covid. We have reached out multiple times with questions on our invoices with no response. Our account representative insists this is not their place to assist with invoices.

This is a very important product/feature to keep control of payments coming in and also claims being rejected. This is a feature that I use daily!

Cons

I think it's very hard to sign up new Payers in the the account tab. use to sign up the payers for us and now I have to print forms, get them to Waystar etc etc.

### "Great Communication Makes My Day Better"

Support is excellent. Issues are resolved quickly. Communication is always key and is available by phone, email, etc.

Pros

is integrated with my electronic records program. It was very straightforward to get started. This makes my daily life better. We are all humans and being able to review what I did or didn't do is a blessing.

Cons

We are a small company and do not need a lot if the features meant for physicians.

### "Too Many Hidden Fees"

I canceled my contract with them, and they would not allow me to cancel and I had to ride it out until the end and pay all their hidden fees. This is ridiculous and a mistake signing up with them. Our payment processing with them got very expensive because they did not have a chip reader for the credit card transactions. They have a magnetic stripe credit card swipe that you can buy for $99 that doesn't work 90% of the time, so we ended having to manually key in each transaction which causes the processing fees to be much higher and on top of that we had to pay them a monthly fee to use their product. I ended up switching to a different credit card processing company that gave a rate that is 15% less than their processing rate, they don't charge a monthly fee, they don't have a contract, and they don't have any hidden fees. So having to ride out this contract and using the new company to process my credit card transactions will save me more money than if I use them until the end of my contract. Lesson learned.

The payments for the patients were listed and you can access it anytime to verify payments.

Cons

### "Good but Problems"

If it wasn't for the claims processing delays, I would say that is wonderful. Everything else about it is very good.

Pros

has a nice interface and is fairly user friendly. Many features makes claim processing quite efficient, and is very easy to use. Claim scrubbing is good.

Cons

Claims processing delays are way too frequent. Especially during the first part of the month when many are billing. But these delays can and do happen all through the month. When I say processing delays, I mean it may take 30 or more minutes to process one claim! I process a high volume of claims, and these delays really make me less efficient in my job.
