### "database alternative to mysql"

September 26, 2019

3.0

it's a really good database manager, easy to use and the community version is free to use in a commercial environment

Pros

in general is a good database manager like MySQL you have many functions and one, in particular, the notifications, you can send a notify and it's like a broadcast message, useful for interaction with the backend

Cons

the way how to backup and restore is sometimes complicated, we tried to automatized and sometimes works others not, the same script! and because of that, you can have an empty DB

### "Postgresql"

January 27, 2019

5.0

I like the experience with Postgresql, you have not given me the details and it has been my right hand in all developments, it is the engine that is always in my personal and business projects.

Pros

More powerful database engine from my point of view, it can handle large amounts of data, create many functions for processing, compatible with all programming languages, fast response, integration with other tools, enough documentation on the web.

Cons

Due to the number of functions and configurations I do not know all of them.

### "Best free Database"

December 4, 2018

5.0

I've been using PostgreSQL as a persistence layer for multiple applications, and I didn't have any problems so far - and did I mention that this DB is free?

Pros

This is a free database with all functionalities you expect from your RDBMS. You can connect to it with pretty much anything and it works like a charm. I've been using MS SQL, Oracle and MySql as well, but with PostgreSQL I've had the best experience.

Cons

I don't like the new pgAdmin IV tool for accessing DB, it is much slower than the older pgAdmin III.

### "Great Database"

June 4, 2021

5.0

I have used it for storing all the data for web pages, except for media.

Pros

It has great ORMs to work with any language. I have used it for JS and Python in the backend. It's really robust.

Cons

It does not support non-relational data and that's OK. We just should work around this if it's necessary.

### "PostgreSQL took my DB heart"

March 14, 2019

5.0

Being a database developer has been a much better experience since I met PostgreSQL.

Pros

Database development is one of my favorite areas in Systems Engineering. But I did not get to know the best of this world until I got into PostgreSQL. In my opinion, PostgreSQL is the best open source choice for databases, and possibly the best choice of all databases engines. It's a very solid choice regardless of OS, or programming language which you are using. The database backups are highly compressed, easy to share and import. The PL-SQL version is one of the best, with object-oriented aspects and arrays. Functions, triggers, and views are also very robust and with high performance.

Cons

The interface to PostgreSQL, namely PgAdmin, is not the greatest GUI to access and manage the databases. It has some bugs and forces you to be active or it will disconnect the session.

### "PostgreSQL - SQL as we know it"

May 22, 2019

4.0

Pros

The ability to handle huge datasets, ability to query through them efficiently, the ease with which one can use PostgreSQL as a backend for web-applications, all of these facilitate with it being at the top.

Cons

When datasets grow to a gargantuan amount, PostgreSQL does lag in a way, and if you'd compare it to BigQuery, BigQuery is definitely the champ, but it doesn't have all of the features of PostgreSQL. PG service does need good computational resources.

### "A step towards evolution"

September 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

I like most about Postgres is its versatility and ease of use, all in a single database engine. It is robust, versatile, simple and there is a great documentation that can be useful in times of difficulty, in addition to that's free and can be used comfortably in production environments (where exist high demands of data) or for environments where it is not necessary to have a high performance. In my company we use Postgres for environments different (quality, production and development) with excellent result.

Cons

There are really some things that I don´t like about Postgres, I could comment on is that when errors occur, I would recommend that in the different information LOGs the errors are shown by code (error code), as happens with other database engines.

### "The best relational option"

May 21, 2019

5.0

PostgreSQL is a very powerful, great option for large companies that will establish a large database that requires the maximum database manager and needs to squeeze all its benefits.

Pros

PostgreSQL is a robust database that provides highly scalable value, offers superior performance to the options presented as their competitors specially for complex queries, provides flexible data types ,it have many extensions one of them is postgis that adds support for geographic objects.

Cons

Hard learning curve, a lot of GUI controllers are buggy and that is very clear when working on multiple server versions (Backups & restore), the documentation is a bit messy

### "Complete RBDMS and NoSQL Solution"

April 13, 2019

5.0

Pros

PostgreSQL is one the best database systems out there. It's a complete solution including rich RBDMS and NoSQL features. PostgreSQL is highly scalable and can deal with huge amounts of write and reads.

Cons

PostgreSQL is not easy to learn and configure. It definitely requires much more effort when compared to other database management systems. PostgreSQL administration is a huge topic, and without a good configuration it's hard to obtain performance.

### "Easily the best cost/performance ratio on the market"

March 8, 2018

5.0

Pros

Powerful, fast, easy. PostgreSQL is straightforward to use, powerful, and it's free to install. Hard to beat that.

Cons

The new management interface pgAdmin 4 is a minor disaster. It was designed from the faulty assumption that database developers/administrators want to use a web interface. I'd like to meet these people as I don't know any of them. Fortunately, pgAdmin 3 is still functional and available. With any luck, it will continue to be so.

### "Best Production Database"

February 1, 2019

5.0

We are using Postgres as our main database, we use it to store our client's information, from their personal information to their addresses.

Pros

Ease of use - since it uses the same principles as MySQL of tables I would highly recommend this DB. Support and tutorials. There are plenty of resources on how to use Postgres, and hence when you happen to get stuck on any functionality there is always a resource to help you out. This is one of the reasons we use it as our production DB.

Cons

Its hard to set up. One of the major issues I had was the initial setup locally, Its not as straight forward as expected for such a valuable product.

### "Postgresql is the most powerful database manager in the market"

September 10, 2018

5.0

my experience with postgresql is excellent as a manager because I am a programmer applying it in systems that require robustness, power and security with transactions, even more in systems with native languages such as C, C ++ or Java.

Pros

One of the positive things that this manager has is that its installation is easy and free license for different distributions and operating system, also allows you to configure according to the team, other features is that you can perform read-only queries while is in recovery mode. also has a graphical tool such as pgAdmin that allows us to easily manage our database.

Cons

one of the points against is that for small systems the insertion, update and elimination queries tend to be slow compared to other managers in the market. The advanced syntax is often very difficult to apply to junior programmers.

### "My favourite one"

December 26, 2018

5.0

Pros

The best of databases available in Linux-based hosting. Very efficient, fast, relational and transactional. It has many more possibilities than MySQL, among other things, a lot of unique keys in one table, UUID as a primary key. This is my favorite database, I have been programming it for over 5 years. I recommend to all those who value order and stability.

Cons

it has no weaknesses, well, maybe only those in love with their MySQL bases :)

### "PostreSQL review"

February 27, 2021

4.0

Overall the experience with PostgreSQL is pretty good. I have been using it continuously with different web development projects with the Django web development framework.

Pros

Yes, PostgreSQL is easy to use. I have been using it for a year. I have been using it with the Django web development framework as an object-oriented database. One thing I love is it's an open-source and free database that gives us the freedom to modify and use it as per our needs. It's a highly fault-tolerant database available. Also, it's available across the cross-platform. Another prominent feature is that MVCC(Multiversion Concurrency Control) allows the running of multiple queries isolating them from each other. Also, its a widely used database by individuals and enterprises.

Cons

One thing that can be improved is the performance with respect to another popular database MySQL.

The total experience is too good. I use this software on a daily basis. so this is too helpful for the data.

Pros

It is a good Database Management system that is free of cost. So good to understand the data and we can create it as a table or a Database. we can use all commands here. There is lots of code to copy data from CSV files which is on-premises we can load their data here. So we can reduce our time here.

Cons

we can not say this is easy to use. we can first give time to understanding the things here after that this is very easily able to use.

It's a very good database application. I use it as a hobby

Pros

one of the most successful database applications I have used, its interface is easy and it is nice to open different pages in tab form. I also loved that it included a dark theme.

Cons

Although the code is correct, it says there is an error when the code is run, sometimes I waste time searching for this non-existent error.

### "Best Database Management System with wide range of Features"

July 4, 2018

5.0

Pros

PostgreSQL is one of the best from the range of DBMS i used in my career. Features like Stored Procedures is one of the reason i prefer this tool. It helps me take off a huge amount of workload from the API server as same data need to format differently for different APIs. Along with it the availability of builtin functions like JSON functions, Regex Functions etc helps a lot in the data processing field. Connectors support for various languages is one of the main reason for using this tool. Connection Pooling helps me execute multiple queries without slowing the system and losing any data.

Cons

It is not suitable for beginners. Designing a efficient and effective Database workflow need a skilled DB Admin so a beginner need some time to get to familiar with the system. Another drawback is its management tool pgAdmin 4. Its a disaster compare to pgAdmin 3. It is a web App and lags a lot. I face problems in multitasking in version 4 that is not the case with version 3. I Hope someday somebody provide backward compatibility of PostgreSQL 10+ with pgAdmin 3.

### "Spartan, robust"

February 10, 2021

Using PostgreSQL is hard and sometimes frustrating but once set up it gives sys admins a great peace of mind.

Pros

I've been using PostgreSQL since 2002. It is not easy to install, deploy and manage compared to other relational database of its class. It is though rock solid, incredibly fast and there are a lot of great features.

Cons

A modern management system would be very welcome. There have been several attempt to make it more user friendly by honestly none has been successful so far.

### "Most flexible DBMS I have ever used."

August 27, 2019

4.0

We use it as one of our DB's along with others. I would say it is an advanced DB with its rich features compared it to others.

Pros

Easy to install, use. Security at its best. Feature rich database. Community support is superb: When ever you are stuck, you can ask the community, they will help you.

Cons

Native interface can be improved. Rest is fine. Apart from that, I don't see any disadvantages with the tool.
