### "Great Open Source Database"

April 30, 2021

4.0

Amazing open source experience with a scalable database that just works.

Pros

Easy to use and scalable Open Source Database. Good indexing and search features, plus with json support you can easily make tables extendable and adaptable without schema changes.

Cons

Indexes aren't as quick on json fields, but are amazing for optimising standard fields. Importing and exporting data isn't quite as easy as SQL Server.

### "A Decent Database System"

October 25, 2022

4.0

Overall, this is a good database to use if you can't afford to pay for SQL Server. It works very reliably, and would be ideal for smaller databases or businesses.

Pros

It's relatively quick and reliable. We have used a PostgreSQL database for one of our systems for years and have never had a single problem.

Cons

The pgAdmin GUI seems a bit clunky to me. I much prefer the MS SQL Server Management Studio interface for SQL server.

### "Fast and Powerful - Best RDBMS"

July 30, 2019

5.0

Our application uses this RDBMS and it works wonders. It makes testing easier and faster. Overall, I'm having a good time working with PostgreSQL and it's features are expanding rapidly.

Pros

It is easy to setup and configure. It's free, robust and reliable to use for heavy duty projects. It also has a perfect UI environment i.e. Pg Admin to run and save your SQL commands. It has a wonderful support page and can be integrated with any language.

Cons

This could sometimes be relatively complicated to operate and understand.

### "The best relational database in the market"

May 15, 2018

5.0

Pros

\- Free version stable and without bugs. - Almost all the development frameworks have native connectors for it. - Documentation is very clean.\\ - The community of people who use it is huge making it very easy to get help with problems

Cons

\- Scaling and big data is very complicated with this and any other relational database. - Integration with node and json is not natural and these tools are the future in application development.

### "The best relational database"

May 4, 2018

5.0

Pros

The non relational function for json is very useful, so postgres can be useful also for not structured data. The schema allow to maintain the db well-ordered. The extension postGIS is the best library on a db for spatial data, it have a lot of functionalities and it is easy to use.

Cons

Give the right to the user is no so intuitive. Set up a cluster is not easy as other system that have include some tool to make it.

### "Native JSON data type Support!!"

October 3, 2018

5.0

This is a great solution for adding in JSON datatype support along side standard data types; allowing for mixing and matching of JSON based queries and standard SQL in the same table/schema. Very powerful when leveraged in web services based applications.

Pros

PostreSQL has native JSON and JSONB data type support built in, with some really convenient methods for traversing JSON structures.

Cons

Documentation isn't the greatest - I had to use a lot of trial and error for some of the json convenience methods they've added in.

### "Use PostgreSQL when SQL is the choice of Database query language"

February 11, 2023

4.0

Pros

PostgreSQL a very large community support as it is opensource. Also support to multiple languages like JAVA, Python means it has lesser start up time for all kinds of developers like Backend, Frontend, Machine Learning etc.

Cons

Sometime when we use bulk mutation queries when updating database, search query latencies will increase. It needs to have separate thread pools.

### "A Good DBMS"

March 25, 2019

5.0

Pros

It's free, easy to install and configure. There are Linux distributions that are made to deliver a ready-to-use installation with Postgres installed. It is a robust and very fast database manager. It has several platforms that can be used to manage the database offering control panels with various tools and options for visualizing the database. There are several plugins that can make the database even more specialized, such as postgis for geographic and post applications, or as AgensGraph for graph-based data.

Cons

Not anything negative to say about this software.

### "One of the best open source databases available"

November 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

Postgresql is open source and free and it gets regular updates. The software is the only database as a service which is supported by AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and Heroke - this gives you a lot of options. Super scalable and very flexible. It runs on all major platforms.

Cons

It is difficult to learn and master ... but that speaks to it's power. The tool set around it is complex - but again this is part of the package. If you want to learn postgres be prepared to work in the command line - that is part of the ecosystem. It is difficult but absolutely worth it.

### "Postgres is simple and to the point. "

November 7, 2017

5.0

The online community of postgres users is fantastic. I love being able to dive into answers from users who have used the tool more often than I.

Pros

There is a huge community of power users online and I feel like I can always get my questions answered with a quick google search.

Cons

There's not really anything that I dont like...maybe if Postgres hosted their own knowledgbase that contained their SQL operators.

its always important to have a database manager that is free and easy to use

Pros

Unlimited and free installation. Stable and reliable, there have never been any drops in the database. Through its graphical tool pgAdmin we can manage our databases in an easy way.

Cons

It is relatively slow in insertions and updates in small databases, PostgreSQL is designed for high volume environments. It does not have online or telephone support.

### "Great Open Source Tool For Data Management"

December 7, 2019

5.0

It's a great relational database management system. It's open-source, free, reliable and secure. I love it. I prefer it to MySQL.

Pros

It's open source and extensible. So you can find great extensions to help you with whatever you need. It uses MVCC (Multi-Version Concurrency Control) to ensure that the data you provide is consistent. It has support for JSON and regex. It can handle parallel queries. There's a great online community to help you solve your problems.

Cons

The interface is a little hard to navigate and could be better, but given the advantages of Postgres, I don't really mind.

### "Great RDBMS"

January 18, 2020

5.0

Pros

High performance, ease of use, transparency. PostgreSQL is my favorite RDBMS of the four (MS SQL, SQLite, MySQL) I've used in various projects.

Cons

Occasionally has a feature missing or delayed for want of development resources. Third party GUI interfaces can be buggy or quirky.

Reason for choosing PostgreSQL

A competent, open-source RDBMS that is a pleasure to use. Manageable costs, reliability, and transparent architecture is a potent combination.

### "The faster open source DBMS"

May 13, 2018

5.0

Good performances in big websites using open source software.

Pros

PostGreSQL is the fastest and most modern DBMS in the open source market. It's working properly with major tools in web development field. Some patches may be required for example to run Drupal 8 on a customized PostGreSQL instance, but if you stay in the standard, it should run cleanly.

Cons

PostGreSQL is pretty hard to use compared to MySQL, in my opinion. There are some notions that does not exist in MySQL so coming from this tool to PostGreSQL may need some training before being able to use it properly.

### "Relational Database Solution"

November 26, 2019

5.0

PostgreSQL handles huge amounts of relational data and best for organizations and enterprise uses.

Pros

I found it the best among the available open-source solutions for relational databases on the amazon web services. It meets the demands of my clients and also affords technical support at a high level.

Cons

Since this is a relational database so you might found it slow as compared to non-relational databases in the market.

### "Very user-friendly and supports a wide range of query formats"

February 17, 2023

5.0

Pros

It supports a wide range of query syntax and is the most user-friendly software.

Cons

There are way too many reserved keywords. Because of reserved keyword restrictions, we are unable to choose meaningful column names with this many keywords.
