Pros it is good for integration testing. it is an embedded database written in java. Cons it is not usable large project due to it is an embedded database. And due to its lightweight nature and very minimum consumption computer resource requirement, it makes my software quite easy to deploy on all systems. Pros The simplicity of integrating this database to a Java standalone desktop application and it's lightweight composition compared to other database engine. One of the best thing is this database is written in Java itself unlike other sql , thus giving an advantage over the portability and integrity of the application built. Integrating it with your application just need a jdbc and the hsqldb jar file for the connection, all other query are same as of the SQL library so you can import the native java.sql library and use the syntax, no need of learning new syntaxes. You can use this as a standalone database other than integrating with java application, of course you will need jre for that. Another good thing is about, it gives you many option for the storage type like cached, in memory, file, etc. Basically it is very simple and easy to understand for integration. Cons If the script files would been saved in temp folders, the security would be increased to a great extent. Other than this all my needs are fulfilled by the database Engine.
