Pros: Very basic, as well as very easy to understand. Like I said before very old school, in the way that it looks and feels as if you are using something from the 90's.

Cons: Not user friendly, very minimal functionality. In the ways that you can NOT customize. And there are some glitches with pop up alerts etc. System essentially slows itself down.

Overall: All of my employees are able to use and abuse the same software, and see/be on the same page.

Comments: There are plenty more practical solutions for the modern world today. They need some major updates.

Pros: Can store a lot of information on specific accounts; multiple contacts, notes, details, etc. It is also secure.

Cons: You cannot search any of the notes you enter. For example, if you have an account you have been entering notes in for 10 years.. there is no way to search and find the details of a conversation/email/side note you made. You have to scroll through pages and pages of notes carefully examining each one to find what you are looking for. It is also NOT recommended to use the Mobile version of GoldMine as it reduces its security and poses a threat to the information. This makes it difficult to access information when at a meeting/out of the office at all.

Pros: GM helped us to organize the work flow, especially as we have many orders and quotations running in parallel. Every step done in a project or opportunity is visible for everybody in the team.
Reliable sync function with external Equipment-

Cons: Inside an opportunity or project, I urgently ask you to include a drag&drop function to add related documents from the details/link section of this opportunity or project. It is really complicated and takes approx 10 steps/ clicks to add a document to the E-Mail.

No real progress of the software since version 8.

Pros: Easy to use and learn. Easy to upgrade and install. Organization tree has a good and easy to understand structure.

Cons: No real web-solution that is including API and email support. European requirements are consequently ignored (e.g. showing of calendar weeks). No connection inface for ECM. No mail archiving possible. Mail client has poor functionaly. No possibility for translate softwre. Interface looks from the 90ies. Performance could be better (a lot of ineffective queries are shown from SQL reports). Very poor performance of the Word and Excel Add-Ins. No real solution for mail encryption. No MSI-installer for deployment

Very stable and well functioning CRM software product.

Pros: Ease of use and able to get a good picture of our sales efforts. As owner, I can easily track the calendars of my associates and their sales efforts.

Pros: email linking, when it works. The fact that most if not all entries are automatically saved when entered.

Cons: No shortcut keys. Calendars should offer a few days before and after the month, so that if you close to the end or beginning of the month, it is not necessary to click on a arrow to go to the adjacent month. Also, the days should be identified as to what month they belong to.

Overall: why are you asking in the past tense? Your software should be the gift that keeps on giving benefits as long as you use it. This program helps us keep a schedule for our installers.

Pros: It's 10 years that i'm using it so i know how it works and it's fine
It has some good features
We still use it because it has great external utilities ( GoldBox, DBX Data Management) that allow us a full integration with our ERP without them Goldmine would it be useless
Affordable cost

Cons: Data structure: very very old (it suffer from long heritage from dbase era)
Interface: very old it needs a big review and redisign
Lack of deep information about the software: you need to build a monument to DJHunt and other people like him that let all of us to know Goldmine
WEB interface; still too limited and very bad compared to other products web-based, Maybe a Goldmine APP can be another good option
Frontrange is too distant from their customers : we are payng every year a fee only to receive a very light update and only few bugs corrected, please be more present in the new forum.,SA user and company we need to know clearly where Frontrange want to go with Goldmine.

Pros: 1. Internal Email client is very helpful (even if it has some bugs).
2. Outlook-Integration is the best I know.
3. Ticket-System is very helpful (even you cannot link an activity to Ticket+Opportunity/Project)
4. Knowledge Base is very helpful
5. Undocked GoldMine is great on Laptop and on separated sites.
5. QuoteWerks-Integration is great!

Cons: 1. Datamodel Account/Contact: their should be a separated Account-Database-Table
2. Activities should be linked to Ticket AND Opportunity/Project parallel (you have a project-Issue and want to link activities to the Project as well as to a Support-Case).
3. WebClient: not enough information on the screen, layout not really configurable (place Fields / Details where you need them)

Pros: What I've always liked about GM in the 20 years that I've been using it: that in looking at a contact you can see all communication for that contact, regardless of who had the interaction with the customer.

Cons: That I keep crashing with Outlook.
Not being able to use email and calendar with Exchange (without using Outlook). I know it's "very complicated" but for me it would solve this whole GM link nightmare and allow me to have emails, contacts and calendar on my mobile device. Yes, it's great to be able to look up a history on my mobile device, but for me, that's 5-10% for the time. If you really need to work with GM remotely, use it on a laptop.
No auto-correct for spelling.

Pros: Control of my own Data Base, cost of the license, we already know how to use it, tracking of campaings with 3rd pary SW

Cons: Not good support in MX the parters the charge more than the partners in the US they quote the travels to our city instead of trying to solve remote which increases cost. they never get in contact with us to follow up or offer something.

The cost of switching to cloud is expensive compare to other CRM solutions

Intelli click its no longer working at 100% even do we pay them and we pay a GM partner to try to fix it

Pros: What do I like generally about this software or specifically about this release?
Generally I like licensing system and integration with other software: namely Quotewerks

Cons: Big features access differences between local and web interface.
Administrator manual is not enough detailed to be able to decide what feature how to set-up. Since months I have put a question in Goldmine forum, a lot of people seen it but up to date no reply and info how to solve my problem.
A lot of Code fields in application, but nowhere is explained how to use it and what is the benefit of using them.

Pros: You can plan your costs better. It runs on your server so relatively fast compared to web-based CRMs. You can run your own backups (more work at your end, but at least you know where you data is!).

Cons: Lack of flexibility in terms of integration with other tools. The calendar can't integrate/share data live with the most basic/common tools used today (outlook, ios, etc)! This is a real shame, especially for staff that works remotely or traveling/visiting clients/etc

Pros: Robust and reliable; comprehensive and efficient storage of large amounts of data; easy data entry and editing; clear on-screen displays of data; ready access by several staff in the office.

Cons: no (simple backup and rebuild routines; Google Earth anf Google maps functions have to be re-written with installation; method of selecting field and sequence for Additional contacts window; method of using Aussie phone number format (NOT US format) as default; default to Company on opening (not contact); additional address fields -for HO, site (Google Earth map references, and postal ; field for skype facebook etc for contacts, ASX ticker code etc for company; multiple entries of email address for Purchasing Office for several sites; spamming facility is DANGEROUS - totally inappropriate for my business; GM view to Google earth not fully functional and not on a separate screen ...

Pros: GoldMine provides all the basic CRM functions and goes way beyond that with excellent integration with Outlook , Excel, and Word along with many other third party software to give it power that will help any company grow their business.

Cons: Installation can be a little difficult because you must install SQL and you have to make sure you get all the correct configurations to that or there will be missing functionality in GoldMine. But that can be corrected after the fact. So, no real big deal.

Pros: Based on orginal awesome premise of easy sharing of information, syncing, linking to contacts, groups, etc.

Cons: Half hearted attempts to broaden features without fixing the basics eg problem with syncing with size of current day attachments. Having more levels than just admin/non-admin (if you merge contacts you have to be admin and then you have access to everything including private) Cumbersome additional fields layouts. Details great feature - but need to use Details plus to see what it can really do.

It's 2017 and Goldmine still doesn't allow usernames greater than 8 chars. Very outdated software.

Pros: The ability to customize the front end and open-ended nature (e.g. no wrong way) of using Goldmine.

Cons: - Database and table structure is completely outdated, inherited from the 1990s
- Constantly run into issues with GMBase and Contact Set database issues, since that is shared and we run into problems when trying to restore a Contact Set database onto a new server on its own
- Can't create usernames over 8 chars (c'mon, really? That was a problem back in 1998)
- Poor use of tables like CONTSUPP where it's stuffed with all manners of mixed data. CONTSUPP stores additional contacts, website addresses, linked documents, etc. The database tables needs a complete overhaul to have fields and data put into their right places and respective tables
- Having dashboards is nice, but it has no ability to use proper SQL stored procedures that utilize temp tables and table variables. Thus limiting it's ability immensely
- Goldmine Web is a nice direction but still very buggy, lacks many basic features, and has no ability for technical admins to customize on the user end
- Goldmine support is not terribly helpful most of the time, and don't seem very technical. The ones who are technical are condescending

I feel we are using a very powerful tool to only 10% of its capacity.

Pros: Goldmine tracks our firm's communications with clients. Goldmine calendars can be shared among staff members.

Pros: We can see names and addresses, notes, etc that other team mates enter (but not email). What use is the CRM if we can't all be on the same page?

Cons: You have got to get the Goldmine interface with MS Office functional in a 64 bit environment. Outlook email integration ceased working when our company upgraded MS Office to 64 bit. What should we do? Help!

Upgrade was easiest in all of the versions thus far.

Pros: The ability to find and query any item of information. Everything relating to a contact is within the record.

Pros: Great record keeping! Emails, documents, etc. all saved and easy to find. Love the Universal search feature in addition to the ability to search by individual fields. Love the ability to link records together via referral (we use these to link a project with the associated subcontractors, reps and a manufacturers) and/or relationship tree (we use these for school districts with multiple schools).

Cons: It's certainly not hard to use, but not completely intuitive. Don't like that "additional contact" emails are not able to be alphabetized. There are many features we do not use. Could be "prettier," but obviously, that's a very low priority!

Originally purchased in 2004, we do not use all the functionality & are now looking at alternatives.

Pros: Originally purchased due to email links/audit trail & recommendation of colleagues at that time. Calendar functionality is good although alternatives have now caught up.

Cons: Lags behind on compatibility with other software. Appears to be using out dated platform/technology as there are now better alternatives in market to meet our needs. No remote access to calendar. Upgrades take too long due to size of database. Multiple versions of attachments in mailbox is annoying. No 'out of office' tool although we are aware of outlook work-around. The supplier who resells this to us now appears favour other solutions so the level of customer support is not what it was in the early years.

Overall: CRM/calendar functionality.

Cons: Random slowness and freezing that can't be tracked to anything. (Power users/editors have constant slowness), random crashes for no reason. GM+ lags Outlook considerably. Too much data being passed back and forth (can't really use on a network connection below 100mbps = internal network). No built in connectivity to other back office apps.

Pros: A single window pane look at my day. Contact search center gives me a flexible way to find contacts. The knowledge base feature lets me build my own KB on any subject. Customized SQL queries and reports help me make sure my work gets billed. The value of the software greatly exceeds the cost. This is the third CRM I've used over the decades, and the best by several magnitudes. There is an active Forum membership populated with some very knowledgeable people.

Cons: So many features that it's hard to locate a solution in the docs, which are in at least two manuals that are very long. Some features are documented in subsidiary manuals, which is good, but still takes time to find answers. You need to have a good relationship with your reseller to answer questions, no matter how experienced you are with software.

Overall: It allows me to control my contacts and engagements efficiently. The reports that I've customized are invaluable to my business.

Pros: Easy to administrate and I have control of my data on my server. Great query tools using GM+View to connect other databases that we have. The price is the key for us. I have looked at more expensive hosted applications. You can spend a lot of money on the next best thing, but in the end you need a tool that sales reps will use and close deals. We need a tool that tells us when a prospect or client is ready to upgrade and Goldmine does it perfectly. The web interface with W-Mobile gets information to sales reps when they are in the field. We have used Goldmine for 21 years.

Cons: The integration into Outlook is still kind of sketchy to me. The built-in e-mail module in Goldmine is dated and clunky.

Overall: Increased Sales.

Pros: I used Goldmine since its early days and always found little annoying things that developers refused to address but overall, I loved the interface and ease of use...

Cons: No Cloud version... their "cloud" version is a third party hosted platform site and it was awful!... sluggish...unresponsive... just terrible. I loved my desktop version but needed something for the company and was not yet ready to install a server... I switched to BPM which is very powerful but the interface and ease of use doesn't match Goldmine!

Overall: I am unlikely to recommend to someone looking for a cloud solution and very likely to anyone looking for a desktop or someone who has an in-house server/vpn solution available.

Pros: I like the ability to set up appointments, follow-ups, etc. For me the program is easy to use. It allows us to have a complete history of all of our contacts.

Cons: The reporting capabilities are not that great. It would be nice if there were a tool bar option just to put a note in the history section, without completing a follow-up, outgoing call, other action, etc., where you have to complete the action. Although I do not really have issues with Goldmine, several of my coworkers seem to have problems using the program. Of course, that could be them.

Used for years, do not use all of the features, but software is helpful.

Pros: Keeping the history of correspondence to customers, great to refer to after the fact and retrace what happened in problem situations

Cons: Not super easy to sync with Outlook which is now our prime Email package. Mobility we now do with outlook but making it all sync and to make sure all relevant contacts are trapped has its limitations.

Overall: Keeping customer contacts for allocating to new sales and changes in territory as time goes on. It is always a bit a leaf raking but that is rather unavoidable.

2. Linking of contact records to email addresses is not user friendly and can easily lead to incorrect linking of emails/email addresses.
3. When re-queuing emails sent by another user, and edited by the new user, the old subject line/old user appears in history. Only when the email is opened, is the edited subject line/user visible.

Cons: First, the user documentation and help function details don't match the software. Menus are referenced that don't exist in our version of software and the documentation is, at best vague.

The user support seen geared more of a social media event than a tech support. I don't have time to go through miles of black black to find a solution to a problem.

It seems that lots of support and training and documentation resolutions are geared toward a "partner" or second tier type vendors. do we really need to go to a "partner" so that we can upgrade our system to a new version or back it up? why is this all so mystic? The HEAT site sucks

Overall: It has served us well for well over a decade, but as I have not looked for a replacement I feel it very likely there is something else out there that is more feature-rich.

Cons: We had a huge problem years ago when we upgraded from Corporate to Premium. It was a huge headache and put a big bind in our business. But working with Ticomix and Goldmine to figure the issues out helped, and we finally got things back on track to resolve the issues at hand.

Comments: Stay far away from this badware.

Pros: Not much to like about this nightmare software. I have to use it because someone picked it and they have invested a bunch of money in it.

Cons: The list of problems is endless. Try to do anything and you are faced with filling out boxes and checking them. This style of software died years ago. It runs like a glorified DOS program.

Pros: Holds a lot of information and does a relatively decent job at making it accessible/easy to find

Cons: Email group creator is quite old school. GoldMine doesn't always stay linked to my email. Program often slows down and freezes a lot. It has it's fair share of annoying quirks.

Overall: Very "clunky" in terms of programs. While it stores a lot of info, it also is difficult or tedious to go back and find it. Creating emails within the program is also a bit daunting. It's not a terrible program.

Recommendations to other buyers: Shop around and decide whats really important to you, as GoldMine does have a lot of very cool features. My company just doesn't utilize the bells and whistles, which is unfortunate because its basic functions are, at times, lacking.

Pros: Great program, Does a lot.

Cons: Cannot install without pricey tech support

Overall: Get cost as installed. Otherwise you will incur high $/hr to install. Multiple 3rd party software needed to download and install. Very poor instructions, hidden files that only Techs can do. Great program but buy as installed basis. Not a out of the box program like older versions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get quote as installed.

Pros: All in one place CRM,
Very versatile and customisable.
Does not require Internet access.
Very stable and mature product with Sales automation.

Cons: Expensive to purchase.
Expensive to install
Expensive to maintain, must be a Goldmine Guru or Technician.

Overall: Goldmine have for quite a while had a stranglehold on CRM for the desktop. Their product is feature rich and amazingly customisable to your needs. Moving away from Firebird to SQL did bring some problems in the early version but now they seem to have a handle on it.

Unfortunately, they still have not improved their customer facing services very well. Very slow to respond to requests, or better still sell you a product without support from the developers.

I first went to Goldmine because it was recommended as the perfect fit for a small family business and I only needed to buy one licence. Then they lost their way and decided only big business was in their best interest. No more single licences and having to buy a minimum 5 licences when I was only ever going to use 1, and then having subscription on those five licences simply became uneconomic for us.
The product is great the back up, from my third party support people is great, the attitude and concern of Heat is not.
I will keep using the software because there is literally nothing else on the market that comes close to the capabilities of the product.
And Goldmine DOES NOT have to have an internet connection to work in it. A very big bonus for remote parts of Australia where internet is still a pipe dream.
The installation MUST be undertaken by a professional though as it is difficult, must be done this way and look out if you have problems.
I will still recommend this program for the company looking for a great, all in one, CRM system that can be a standalone or work with everyone in the company. Just look at your costs though, you can't support the product yourself.

Recommendations to other buyers: Best in class for this level. Very versatile, fast and reliable.

Pros: Goldmine keeps our lead and customer database organized and accessible, almost 24/7/365 for close to 15 years. We're still running on Standard 6.7 server/client and cannot find a decent alternative to match it's capabilities. I like their licensing model, as there are no recurring monthlies, like SalesForce, and other cloud based CRM's. We have few issues with the email client. The WebImport is almost rock solid, once set up. Our initial database customization still models our business perfectly, with relatively few field additions. Understand that in 2001, there was nothing close in function or price. It is robust, and we have used around 25% of it's capabilities. It is wonderful software.

Cons: As others have said, their licensing, upgrading, and company support leave much to be desired. We run a 5 license office, that current only has two active seats. Any upgrades require purchasing a 5 seater, plus 5-seat annual maintenance plan. There are issues with synch, and with more modern web access, that are solvable at a relatively high add-on price. There is a significant learning curve (though once learned, it's a breeze) especially for administrators. Setting up user-defined fields and custom user screens is tedious, and takes much more than basic understanding of systems and data. Maintenance fees are excessive. Read the other comments.

Recommendations to other buyers: I've looked at the alternatives. If you can find either a cloud or system based CRM that works for you "out of the box", whether it's GM or another package, double check them, makes sure it will function for you day to day, and compare initial and long term costs. If you need a CRM, and your business or office thrives, you will continue to use it for years and years. Add in the extended monthly, vs. software update costs. Make sure there are no hidden locks on your data, that would prevent you from accessing it. Make sure you can interface it in some fashion with your web sites, so you can automatically get leads into the system. Evaluate the ability of the CRM to model your business processes. Evaluate the training time. Layout all the fields of data, and types of data you will need. Pre-design your screens. Check all documentation prior to adding any user-defined fields, and make sure, specially with GM, that you understand the rules, including the rules for any "indexed" fields. Layout any automation and triggers you want the system to provide for you. Make sure that any system has the data types you need, and that any field can be added with those types. I'm thinking here of Jon Ferrarra's Nimble. Ferrarra started Goldmine and sold it. His Nimble is a decent cloud based, socially aware package... but he did not port the best of GM over. Things like the custom field types, and auto processes. You'll find different strokes for different folks out there. RedHorse is a licensed CRM. Salesforce, Sugar, Zoho, and others are "per seat - per month". Some have free and low cost trials. Your CRM is the structural backbone of your enterprise. Check them out. We still use a GM 6.7 Standard. Can't find a better solution at a decent price.

Pros: Goldmine offers the ability to record potential sales opportunities and progress them from intial lead to the close of the sale. These Opportunities can be analysed and reported on to provide sales targets and focus future efforts for marketing and sales. The greatest strengths are probably maintaining a useful and comprehensive list of companies and employees

Cons: Expensive licensing model. I think it was about 3x of some of the other options i was looking at. uses the inefficient client-server model and data synchronisation for remote users.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking for a non web based software, I think you can really find much cheaper software that do the same or better job as goldmine

Pros: Once I learned the process of what I was to be doing I found this product is very easy to use once you get use to it. The fields are self explanitory and information was easy to access.

Cons: When you are in the middle of doing data entry and it crashes unexpectantly. Also when you are using two screens when manuvering from one screen to another you tend to loose some of the data and have to start over with what you are doing. Mainly adress entering.

Pros: Easy to use with minimal training. I use this product for 30-60 minutes per day, and it's very easy to use. I like that it tracks the history (emails, etc.) so I can easily see what is happening with each prospect.

Cons: We have a limited number of licenses; after an hour of inactivity, I have to re-enter my password. However, this is just a minor inconvenience.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is my first experience with admissions software. This system is easy to learn and I can always go to a few power users with questions.

Pros: GoldMine is wonderful for campuses. The integration between systems used in different academic departments is huge for our college. It helps eliminate phone calls and emails because data is easy to pull between systems, so the customer service experience is seamless.

Cons: The software is a bit clunky in its design, so the learning curve can be steep.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure your CRM service can keep track of everything you need, but also has the ability to create reports and lists like GoldMine does.

Pros: What I like best about the software is that it allows me to capture a lot of customer information. It also arranges it well. It also integrates well with other work applications. No bad experience with vendor.

Cons: As far as software goes, the layout of info is not user-friendly and does require a significant learning curve for some users. Building queries is also not an easy, step-by-step process. It would be helpful to have a wizard readily available for queries or similar functions. No complaints about vendor.

Pros: I like the flexibility of the product, in that in can be customized to the needs of the particular office or business.

Cons: There GUI of the program is outdated and just looks old. It would be nice for an aesthetic update. It would also be wonderful if there were ways to more easily import certain lists and files. If the software could have an automatic bridge for upload, that would be helpful.

Recommendations to other buyers: The most important thing about a CRM is the flexibility of its functions. Goldmine can be edited to meet the changing needs of a business, which is not true of all sales database software.

Pros: The price of this software is affordable compared to other software. Normally, it's 2/3 the price of others. Also with limited money spent on CRM software, work can be done by GoldMine very well.

Cons: So far so good. I like this software very much. The only disadvantage is that this software only runs on Windows. I am a Mac user, so that I need to have a virtual machine for this software.

Recommendations to other buyers: First of all, I suggest people should check performance-price ratio. With limited money, this software is the best.

Pros: For a small admission office, it fits most of our needs and is priced competitively. It's highly adaptable to your needs.

Cons: While adaptability is a plus, it requires a bit more on-site technical know-how than a SaaS approach. Some features that should be more intuitive are "clunky" (e.g. emailing features, etc.). It has some third-party connections with services like Constant Contact, but is a bit limited in this way.

Pros: Goldmine is an extensive tool and has many valuable features.

Cons: Although Goldmine has very valuable features, it is very difficult to learn to use and does not have the ease of use that other CRM systems boast. It is somewhat convoluted, and it is hard to best utilize the features the software does offer. Additionally, it is not on the cloud, and cannot be accessed from wherever you need to access it.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would thoroughly look into what other CRM Systems have to offer and how their software works. I would definitely look for easier usability, less of a learning curve for being able to utilize the features, and a CRM System that is on the cloud that you can access remotely.
