March 6, 2020 5.0 Pros Hotschedules is honestly the best scheduling program I have ever used. There are SO many useful tools! You can pull up metrics based on yearly trends, make notes on why staffing is up/down for the period, and make minute adjustments based on every factor you could possibly think of. You can also use it as a communication tool for both individual and mass communication. I genuinely LOVE this program, and would highly recommend it! You'll never go back to another program. Cons It takes a little while to learn how to use it effectively, but I promise that once you do, you'll find it pretty easy! Review Source TS TJ S. It is difficult when schedules are just printed out on paper. It also made it easier to contact people to cover your shifts. It also made it easy for workers to switch shifts and request time off both with manager approval through the tool. Definitely beats the days or paper and pencil scheduling. January 18, 2018 4.0 The main benefit is holding employees accountable. It puts the power in their hands if they need to request off for certain days. Also, if employees need to switch shifts, it allows them to do so without having to involve me (yet it insures the shift is covered). Pros It holds employees accountable for days they need to request off and it allows switching of shifts among their peers without having to involve me. Cons I wish the system would alert all employees if an employee releases a shift. Currently, we require employees to send a message out to all after releasing a shift. Review Source EB Eva B. " November 8, 2017 5.0 This was a great system to work with and it is highly recommended for anyone who is just looking for a basic scheduling system. I honestly didn't have any issues with this system. Once it went down and we all needed new passwords. Pros This scheduling system is so quick and easy to use. from logging in, to requests and switching shifts. President Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Nice to have the schedules handy on your phone" January 12, 2018 3.0 Pros I like that I can see who is working the various shifts and it gives me their total hours for the week at a glance. Cons The app on my phone does not show if someone is off for the day or had a time off request, for example if someone calls in sick and I need to reach another employee to get the shift covered it does not show me if they are on approved time off. I have to log in through a computer to see that. It would save me time if there was a little symbol or something showing they are on approved time off so I won't waste my time calling them. Pros As a restaurant manager, this allowed my team to view their schedules and others' in an organized manner, and provided an easy to navigate space for employees. Cons We had several issues with employees clocking in. The app did not allow us to clock in without consistent manager approval, and we never were able to fix this problem. Staff can communicate and handle there own personal scheduling conflicts and we don't have to read through 30 emails of shift changes or call outs. Its a struggle for my 50+ staff to get the hang of it at the moment. I something new of course. Sadly they were spoiled by the spreadsheet emails, that only took me an hour maybe to complete. Now creating my schedule in hot schedules takes me an entire day on a busy scheduled week. It also lags or in processing for too long. I have to log out, log in several times a day just to get something done. My time is so limited with everything else I do, Hot schedules may not fit in. It is not that easy to use with a few redundant steps. Pros I like that there is an app for smartphones which keeps the team well informed of their schedule. But I’ve liked it. You can create all the house shifts you need in a day, and from there you can start assigning them to people. It’s also good to see the breakdown in a shift for each person - like working 3 hours on shift, and hour meeting, then back of house work. Helps everyone understand where they need to be. Cons there’s an option on the app to request coverage for your shift. It’s good because you can restrict it where only certain managers can approve, but it’s also been a steady stream of revision requests since it’s so easy for them to post their shifts. I also found it really easy to release your shift for others to view. Cons I think the app functions nicely but kinda of boring outdated look.
