February 3, 2017 5.0 Before hot schedules we were just making the schedule on an excel sheet and all the employees would give us their requests for time off on a sticky note but now with hot schedules it makes it so much easier to write the schedule and to view peoples time off request. It is also a great tool for the employees to release or pick up their shifts and seeing who will be working that day. It has made things much easier for everyone and since the majority of people have smart phones they can easily access their schedule. We use it to stay on the same page. Also using the staff journal for documentation regarding employees. Cons The lack of predictability. I wish that the POS integration could help forecast futures. The tool allows us to predict but doesn't automatically do so. Pros I liked that I was able to access my work schedule by phone and make any updates to my schedule if I needed to. Cons I didn't like the shift trading aspect. The other option I would like is for my staff to be able to put in how many hours they would like to work and then when I'm scheduling I would be able to see those wanted hours. My coworkers also like how easy it is to request days off. Pros HotSchedules is a convenient way to give out weekly or monthly schedules. It works great for larger companies but would even be beneficial for smaller companies. It allows you to see who else is working and what times. Cons No complaints so far. Pros As a server you can easily pick up an available shift that someone else can't work, and also release/post a shift that you cannot work in order for someone else to grab it. Cons Sometimes it is difficult knowing where to go in order to find out certain information, such as if somone sends out a message for all employees to see, but for some reason I won't be able to locate where to see the message. Pros It allows you to do a deep dive into scheduling, aides in sales projections, and allows for rapid informing of the staff. Pros I loved the feature of swapping shifts with other coworkers. It was very user friendly and provided great solutions for when I was a server at a very busy restaurant. Cons I don't remember there being very many cons to this system. February 3, 2017 5.0 We have been using hot schedules for 6 months now, I can tell by experience it has improved the way our we communicate with our employees and the way we control absences and schedules. The first thing we realized was a better flow of the time management process and decreasing on the late arrivals! It can be accessed by any of our employees any time, so they are always aware of changes because of a seamless email workflow. In resume is an effective and easy to use tool. Easy to use once you understand how it works. Pros I like how easy it is to communicate with your team (it features messaging) and it is simple to show your availability. I also like how it shows the contact information for all of your team members. I also enjoy how you get both email and text notifications. It's a great program for submitting my schedule to my boss. Cons I wish that you could get email or text notifications for when someone releases their shift and it is available for pick-up. Another downside is the fact that the mobile application costs money.
