March 27, 2019 5.0 Ever since I started using PHP Runner, I have nothing but praise - From the software, their web hosting services and overall service, PHP Runner is number one in my book. Pros I love the fact that you can take an existing Database and with some programming migrate it right into PHP runner given you a professional and customizable web site for your database. I was able to take membership databases and incorporate them so that no matter where the customer was, they could add/edit and lookup data making it great for the gym membership databases that I was servicing. Using PHP runner, i built my first web app and it was very motivating to be able to achieve this without writing a single line of code. PHP Runner is an excellent tool for developing professionally appeasing web apps and desktop apps. Pros The software is very intuitive and easy to use and has powerful features for searching and querying data as well as importing /exporting data. Steps for creating an application are presented in the simplest form you will ever find and allows you to develop web/desktop applications rapidly and lets you deliver solutions with minimal or no code at all. I also like that the software allows you to easily create dashboards with dynamic charts and graphs. The software also allows you to customize reports even when your project has been deployed very easily. Cons PHP Runner is a very mature product and allows you to do most tasks you will have to do. Though I found it a bit difficult to implement complex SQL operations, It still remains a remarkable tool and best RAD tool I have used so far. Review Source AG Andrew G. I have used the application mostly for data management systems. The knowledge I've gain using the software is incredible. Pros Very fast to develop a web application with the security built in. Having log in and dynamic permissions is a great feature. I have developed fully functional database applications in one single day. Cons Customization is a big challenging some times. There are some features where I've had the need to customize and I've had to dig in into the core files oh PHPRunner's generated code in order to achieve what's needed. Review Source JP John P. Pros I was using the software since 2005 and was not familiar with PHP as I am an old school RPG and Cobol guy which don't even remember that. This was easy to use from connecting a database to designing a form page and even email on the fly . Features have been added through the years and some are great features. Overall if you just are a novice then this is the program for you as depending on how many forms you need to generate and database tables this can be done very quickly once you learn the interface Cons Support is probably the worst support I have ever seen , weahter you are talking retail or online . It's sems to be run by one guy and he is miserable. So if you are looking for support forget it. Reason for choosing PHPRunner Scriptcase and some others are the way to go . Depending on ones knowledge in php and javascript programming you can add additional features to ones application Cons I use phprunner 8.0 the enterprise version. Pros Its super easy to use. You can get the whole application up and running in no time. It takes care for most of the front-end so you can easily focus on the business logic. Also takes care of security and permissions. Easy to convert the project in any language with runner. I am amazed by how relatively easy it has been to build and get the features I needed. Support here on the PHPRUnner User Group on Facebook is very fast and helpful. Since I am in the 12 months after licensing, I get free support via email from the company (not code) and it has been very responsive. The most difficult part for me has been in figuring out the code I need to write to do special things. Again great support from other users. I have been making a list of places to get help or training available for PhpRunner. Cory's videos are wonderful, the vendor has Live Demos where you can run them to see what is possible and download the project and data and run locally and see how it was built. I could go on and on about resources available to help you. Pros Almost everything. You can do a simple app with default features very quickly. When building something more complex I typically find there is an option in the software to do what I want. Pros It allows to create good looking working pages without writing single line of code. However, for more experienced developers full power of PHP and JavaScript is available. There are lots of pre-defined elements like lookup fields, tabs and sections which can be managed via built-in API. Runner also provides some charting features, not as simple as Excel but still quite useful. Cons Documentation is scarce, lots of things are to be guessed. Some parts (like Web reports) are not upgraded to ver. 10 and offer ugly 600px wide windows without proper customization. Still has some bugs. Pros This tool helps me create web based database applications in very little time. It does all the mundane coding and frees me up to focus on just the custom things I need to do to keep my clients happy. Cons There is not a lot of tutorials so I learn a lot by trial and error. Pros It allows me to VERY quickly create complex applications on the web that tie in to SQL servers (and others). Support is the best in the business. Response is far quicker than almost any other company. Cons I like everything about it. Anything that I needed added, was considered and added if possible. Pros Very easy to use and setup, it is able to connect easily to any existing database and can be used for data migrations using easy scripts. It can be used easily to develop a quick web application prototype. Cons There are not many drawbacks that can be mentioned for PHPRunner, one that can be mentioned is that it is difficult to customize forms on the web page, so we end up using the pre-defined templates. Pros It is so easy to use. I am NOT a web programmer - well I wasn't - now I am! Cons I have no cons really. It is unfortunate that business developers refuse to use this type of tool even more accessible than most frameworks. It becomes almost too simple for them to devleopper quality interfaces! Cons Having more parameters stored in base rather than in configuration files would be a plus (lookup, etc ...). This would develop even more dynamic interfaces. Open the product using APIs. The software works great right of the box and then being able to customize my application to my needs is ici g on the cake. I have been using PHPRunner for about 8 years and the improvements are great and keep with the times. Cons Not much to say negatively about the product. For my needs, the product has worked for me.
