the cloud, the black background which is unique to this emr and the ease of use as well as the great support staff.

Cons

the repetition of the data that we enter and the frequency of the red label that comes up so we have to re-enter the data.

Pros

I like that it's not cluttered on the screens--it's very easy to use and is tidy on each page and doesn't look like a jumbled mess. The company has excellent support and customer service. They are prompt in making changes and in assisting us in whatever we need. There is a personal feel and they seem to really know their customers. They are good at what they do and if I were to start over in selecting a software company and EHR company, I would chose Management Plus all over again. We are very pleased.

Cons

It's not cheap so price is what I like the least. But we are pleased with the product so have no regrets. I have looked at other companies and think this is the very best one.

We switched to Management plus after seeing their demonstration. However we are 5 months in and still have not been fully set up. We were told we had a trainer assigned but Jennifer was not in contact until just recently. Needless to say there has been a decrease in money due to not being set up, billing issues, lack of any kind of commitment from M+

Pros

We recently received the assistance of a new trainer, who is amazing. Hopefully we are going to be able to resolve issues.

Cons

Once you sign up you get limited help with set up, with the use, and in general. Not worth the switch

Cons

Reports features are not as strong as I would like but I am more picky and analytical than the average Optical Manager.

I was hired as a consultant to look at EMR solutions for a large eye practice with primary eye care, a LASIK center, specialty eye care and an ASC. I reviewed over 100 systems, had mini-demos of about 14 systems and full demos of the "final 3". The practice decided to go with IO Practiceware based on the ease of use, speed and the impressive cosmetics. The EMR part of the program is, indeed, a great system. However, it is paired with an office management system that does not even provide for the minimal needs of a practice in reporting or billing. The practice is considering using the 10 year old office management system they had prior. This will lead to everything needing to be double-entered and increased costs due to increased labor. Also, their support is extremely slow to respond and many times the response is that the problem will be fixed on a future release.

Pros

The one thing that I like is that I can access medical records from anywhere. However, that is true for any EHR system, so it is not a plus for iO, specifically.

Cons

Their customer support is terrible. They do not answer their phones; when there is a problem, they create a ticket, it goes unsolved for months, if it ever gets solved. They once opened a ticket when I called to check on the status of an existing ticket. The system is super slow, and the reports are useless if you need any kind of customization (or if you are trying to track referrals). You can't even do something as simple as print a patient address label. This system has been one long headache after another.

Pros

I like all the functions the software provides. The product keeps up with the newest trends and changes in optometry. The vendor is great always helpful when issues arise.

Cons

We are server based and I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I wish the software would change screens quicker. It seems as if you are going between screens (example: calendar to exam) it takes a lot of time for it to load.I wish the vendor provide more notification when an update or a new patch is being dropped.

Pros

It is critical to a medical practice that the vendor's staff are responsive to our needs and that is what iMedicware has. In addition, the CEO/owner has an excellent understanding of ophthalmic pracctices & is responsive to our needs. Additionally, the company's Medical Director educates us on how to comply with Meaningful Use along with PQRS, and eRx. He also can assess and audit our compliance with regs and represent us in an audit, if necessary & that is a tremendous asset. Our ASC also uses iMedicware and it is user-friendly for both staff and surgeons. Having the same vendor for both the practice and ASC is cost-effective and efficient.

Cons

Meaningful Use requirements, but this is obviously not the fault of the vendor! I believe we have made the right choice in choosing iMedicware for both our practice and ASC.

Have done a lot of customization at our expense to ease use. I realize we have on older platform and newer forms are now available but at an additional cost so we have customized our origional platform to fit our needs. Wish we could speed software up faster.

Pros

Customizable and easy to learn to navigate.

Cons

Wish could speed software up. Still has some glitches. Seems as if everytime we have an update we have a lot of kinks to fix before we can operate program. Optical module needs work.

There's not much I like about it.

Cons

The customer service is horrible. We don't have time to call every time there's a problem, which is daily. We were told that this system was ready to use but have had to endure many "upgrades" or "builds" We've been told that it wouldn't change much. But there are 70 pages of info on it. Maybe my opinion of "not much" and theirs differ. On average, it takes two weeks to get a phone call back from tech support. I recently told one of them that, and they told me that I'd get a better response by e-mailing them. Why wasn't this the protocol from the beginning?

There are many documentation options, but extremely cumbersome. Pretty good scheduling software.

Cons

Very cumbersome interface. It has drawing capabilities, but it is very difficult to use. Trying to describe medical details is difficult to document and then find on subsequent exams. Routine exams aren't too difficult, but anything out of the ordinary and simple is very difficult to document and find again of subsequent exams. As each physician finds different ways to place data within the exam, other examiners will have difficulty finding these details. Doing a follow up exam on a emergent patient can be very hard to determine what their status was yesterday. Patients who were software engineers could not believe how many steps it took to document a medical visit.

Pros

My Vision Express is very easy to use. Right now I'm only using it for the practice management, mainly for inventory reasons. I can keep track of what comes in and leaves the practice very easily. Also, no more writing orders, which means no filing. (LOVE THAT) As for the vendor, the support has been excellent. Any issues I have run in to (very little by the way), have been resolved very quickly.

Cons

At the moment, the only thing I can think of is the allocation portion of the program while taking payments. Soma payments don't allocate accurately and they have to be fixed manually, but this is pretty easy to do also. I haven't tried it with the checkout turned on though, so we'll see if that helps. Other than that, I can't really think of any negatives.
