Pros

I liked the e-prescribing functionality, which allowed me to directly import medications for certain patients who use e-prescribing into the medical record (this costs extra, though).

Cons

The vendor portrays the product better than what it is. The recall functionality has glitches, and I am losing the ability to recall all of my patients from last year. They do not have a default invoice that includes the amount a patient owes with a tear off section at the bottom. To do that would cost hundreds in customization. This should be default for any business.

I would not get Medflow. It has cost our practice loads of time & money. Support is lacking. The software is not ideal, and even with their "upgrades" there has been no improvements over the past 4-5 years. It has taken the joy out of practicing ophthalmology. We have a large practice and are considering the enormous task of switching companies.

Pros

It's easy to use, and it's easy to teach new employees how to use the system. It's great for practices with multiple offices. It's very reasonably priced. The company stays on top of needed changes. It's one of the first specialty-specific EMRs to accomplish Meaningful Use Stage 2.

Cons

We receive a slightly slow response from support on customization of the product for individual practices/doctors. Luckily, once you learn how to do it, most customizations can be done by the user without having to wait for it to be done by the company.

Pros

We have been working with management of KeyChart since 1989, back in the days of PRISM Data Systems! They are wonderful reliable people. We have been using KeyMedical software since 2006 and added KeyChart several months ago. The software delivers what it promises. We had a failed installation of another software company for EHR earlier this year when we tried making a change for EHR.

Cons

We have no complaints, but will add one for context. That is that we are presently doing paper redundancy at the request of our doctors.

Pros

This company makes every effort to listen to its users when making future developments and to incorporate some of the needs overall. Our practice has been associated with Management Plus for several years now, and the overall outcome of this product to date has been beneficial. I go to Ophthalmology meetings and hear other practices talk about issues they have with competing software. I find it interesting that we do not have those negative issues.

Cons

The positives far outweigh the negatives about Management Plus.

Customizable, easy to use and efficient. New staff have learned it quickly which eliminates downtime.

Cons

Feature requests take a long time to be addressed. These requests can make the system even more efficient.

Tech support needs stronger, better trained people answering the phone. Mike is good, but I miss Tyson, Ashley and Mindy. The Indian gentleman, who I can never understand his name, is never able to help me and always wants me to retell my problem via email. I don't have time to do that. Nathan, our EHR Specialist, is fantastic. He always works with us and is honest when telling us if something we have won't work with the change we want to make. Overall, it would be great to have a Tech Support Specialist that we could go to for all our needs. Otherwise, have Lorena and Valerie's extention to reach them when you cannot reach anyone who can help.

Overall it has been good however I do think that the updates, new additions to the program should be included in the annual maintenance agreement. We pay an absorbent amount of money annually. Also I am highly disappointed in the experience with Gordon at Practice Builders. He is pushy and very annoying. He absolutely turned me off to this company.

Pros

When it works free of bugs, it saves time vs paper charting.

Cons

It has software bugs, an ongoing massive slowdown in payment processing, new problems arising from attempted software patches, data dropping from input screens that require techs to recheck vision or pressure, and inconvenient software update times during patient hours. We have a lack of trust in timeframes given by the company for problem resolution and a lack of trust in the company in general.

We love our Management Plus system!! It is an all in one system for accounting , EHR, scheduling and reporting. The learning curve for this system is so easy and very user friendly. Great for reporting. If you have a need for a report you can customize it to fit your needs with ease. Our EHR is just set to fit our needs not everyone else. It fits in with our work load on a daily basis. Also the Scheduling is just as easy. Customer service is great and always helpful. Only problem I have is updates because sometimes they don't work for us. Otherwise we really love this system.

We've had iO Practiceware for eight weeks, and it really surprised me how efficient the software is at maintaining patient flow. I had put off converting to an EHR for several years because I thought it would affect the number of patients seen per day. However, I started with a normal patient flow the first day and was able to maintain my pre-EHR patient flow throughout the training period! They provide trainers for the first ten days that are very helpful during the learning curve. The telephone support is generally very helpful, also.

We have tried multiple EHR software programs for our Ophthalmology/Optometry practice. The practice includes an ASC and Optical Shops in addition to the Clinics. We have found ManagementPlus to be the best. It is easy to use and therefore easy to train new employees to work on it. The EHR is customizable so it can fit your practice. The reporting is flexible and allows you to run the proper reports to run the practice and evaluate the performance. The support staff is fabulous and is always willing to give you the time needed.

I have grown up with this EMR, having used it since 2006. While it is not perfect (no EMR is), it works and has helped patient flow rather than hurt it. When one office lost internet for a month after Sandy, and I couldn't fully use the system in that office, I sorely missed the EMR functionality. I have continued to compare it to other systems out there and have been pleased with my choice. I have had some issues, but with a little patience, we have been able to work them out. We have also achieved meaningful use reimbursement.

Pros

KeyMed is an ophthalmology specific EMR that has exam templates that are easy to tailor to your specific needs. It flows very nicely through the exam and the screen never looks "too busy". Once you are used to it, the exams are pretty quick and easy to document. I've used them since 2006 and have been very pleased with it.

Cons

Sometimes when there is a software update, I don't know what the updates were.

Cons

This vendor has a poor track record with us as to timely responses. The software updates are very poorly rolled out. There is no communication about what they are taking away and what they are adding. There are many mistakes, and when we ask when items will be fixed, they tell us these issues will not be addressed for months.

Pros

Absolute best eye MD EMR. This is now the 3rd cloud based EMR that I have used and it is the best one I have used or demo'ed. Highlights include: Ease of doing exams and excellent UI for seeing the entire patient record at a glance. I am incredibly impressed with the customer service and their responsiveness to adding new features. In the past 2 months, they have already integrated 3 requests into the system that I had asked to be added. I highly recommend this EMR without any reservation.

Cons: EMR only (need separate billing and optical systems)
