### "EOS.Web supports knowledge knowledge Management in corporations"

May 10, 2021

4.0

We have used engaging features of EOS.Web to keep patrons of a corporate Library informed about the goings on in as far as library and information is concerned.

Pros

We implemented EOS.Web for a corporate library because it has the capability to narrow down topics into specific blocks of information. These features are ideal for meeting information needs of a definable and homogeneous corporate community With EOS.Web, we have been able to customise attributes of corporate documents and separate documents that are OPAC viewable from those that are password protected. Some corporate reports are confidential We customised EOS.Web to engage patrons via email. When a resource is due for return, an automatic email is generated to remind the patron. In addition, patrons use My Request to seek reference services from the library. Patrons also manage which RSS feeds they receive Whenever I catalogue and classify materials, I use EOS.Web's useful links which gives me access to external servers for cataloguing information.

Cons

Corporate documents such as reports are largely in loose format and need digitising for preservation. I wish EOS.Web had a feature that edit scannes files to make them searchable.

Reason for choosing EOS.Web

EOS.Web has features and modules necessary for meeting information needs of a corporate community.

### "EOS.Web Enterprise - Feature rich, platinum customer service, great value. "

February 21, 2019

5.0

Has been a really good solution for us, and very affordable. We have a unique situation where a national program office of less than 3 FT staff supports 400+ relatively small staff libraries distributed across the country, most of which are not managed by library professionals. The EOS customer support can't be beat.

Pros

Feature-rich and flexible with frequent new releases; good accommodation of the requirements of special libraries; easy-to-use interface for library volunteers who have no library training and professional librarians who may not have a lot of technical skill sets but who must perform system administration and/or database management roles; great customer support.

Cons

No real complaints, but vendor is still working out the kinks with hosting EOS.Web SaaS in a FedRAMP environment (a relatively new requirement for federal libraries), which is (or soon will be) a challenge to all ILS vendors. EOS is at the head of the pack in this regard and we are pleased with their progress and performance in this domain.

### "Glad our library has finally dropped EOS"

Our library moved away from EOS after a number of years. Customer Service is great, but the software is horrible.

### "EOS is working well"

July 12, 2012

4.0

I highly recommend EOS for small academic libraries. It is quick to learn, professional in appearance, and practical in use.

Pros

The pricing model is good, allowing a very small library still to be part of accessing the web-based system. The customer service is excellent, especially Deborah Washington. We have been very pleased with our service. The transfer from our previous database was simple and efficient and cost much less than other vendors. We love the image capture and the ability to create an account for users. We love unlimited users being able to access the catalog. We love that it is not housed on our servers, thus keeping our small college from the updating expense of and dangers to our server. We love that you can build a list (or bibliography). We love that all the modules (periodicals, acquisitions, catalog, OPAC, etc.) are included in one price. We love the academic feel to this program. We are very happy that we can give some permissions to the circulation desk but not allow them unlimited permissions. Retaining full MARC records is very important & EOS does that.

Cons

Sometimes the windows approach gets tedious when you have to open window after window to make changes to a record (like search, select, then bibliographic record, then item record, then purchase information to record the cost of an item.) We wish it were easier to "browse the shelf" and to know what books were adjacent to the one you are looking at. Our upfront training was overwhelming. We trained before our catalog was available, so there was a bit more than we could incorporate without additional practice. However, the customer service was great in helping us from that point forward. We wish it were cheaper. We're in a real budget crunch and wish we could do more for less.

### "EOS works well for a highly specialized library"

July 12, 2012

5.0

Even though I find it painful to have to use Internet Explorer, I will continue to make accommodations for it because EOS is worth it in the long run. I especially like knowing that I am not responsible for the server, running backups, and installing upgrades. The company obviously cares about each and every customer. This type of service is rare and I value it.

Pros

1\. no need for local tech services, no server maintenance 2. large installed base means lots of collaborators for ideas 3. easy to train techs to use it 4. record history means techs and others can be held accountable 5. easy to add users to the backend AND patrons to the front end 6. patron personal login enables renew or request items, they can post reviews of library items 7. automated overdue and other notices can be mailed AND emailed to patrons, very reliable 8. Circulation is a snap 9. Customer Service is truly SERVICE, a rare thing these days. They are fast, accurate, and concerned about getting the results I want. 10. In 18 months I have never experienced a single server crash/downtime (and that includes the time there was a huge power outage in Carlsbad.)

Cons

1\. Staff mode requires Internet Explorer. Mac users have to make special accommodations to be able to use it. (Bias: I truly HATE IE) 2. Having been trained on a system that generated smart barcodes and spine labels automatically, I find EOS to be clunkier for that. I have to use an add-on (Avery Dennison) and still have not successfully generated a usable zebra-stripped barcode. (I am entering the item number by keyboard). 3. It is sometimes quite slow to respond.

### "Great for customized product configurations"

September 21, 2021

4.0

Excellent for customized configuration product price quoting. The drawing of the configuration is extremely helpful.

Pros

Easy of use. EOS guides you through the configuration and lets you know if there are any errors. I love the quote PDF.

Cons

EOS is often slow. You cannot customize the quote PDF.

### "EOS Web"

July 12, 2012

5.0

I would recommend EOS Web and KnowledgeBuilder to libraries of any size - especially small or corporate libraries, since it is cost effective, and does not require a deep background in library science to make it work! The combination of a great product, and a great staff (from sales to tech support) gives EOS an edge over other companies in the field.

Pros

Easy to use from both the admin and OPAC side. KnowledgeBuilder makes custom template creation easy and handles all of our document formats. EOS customer service is the best I've ever encountered. The team is knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and always willing to help (even with my "dumb" questions!) Product is very cost effective!

Cons

I'd like to see the image icon in the OPAC support .png files In the OPAC, I'd like to be able to remove the MARC 21 and OCLC-MARC from my "Limit this search to" drop-down list (or perhaps be able to change the name of these databases). We don't use these as our library is almost entirely digital - and it's a corporate library so my users have no idea what MARC is!

### "EOS: Affordable Solution For Our Library"

July 12, 2012

5.0

Overall I'd say EOS provides superior, reliable products with excellent customer support, for an affordable price.

Pros

Feature rich platform that is MARC-complliant, scalable, modular and customizable. Best of all, it is affordable for a smaller library like ours. In several instances they have offered us additional custom programming (for a reasonable price) to fill special needs of our library.

Cons

EOS products are in a constant state of development and improvement and they are "feature rich." For a small library like ours it can be hard for library staff to keep track of and implement many small but significant improvements. It is good to have "too much functionality" as a complaint.

### "EOS Web 2012 Review"

August 10, 2012

5.0

The product has many more positives for us than negatives. It helps us a lot with collection development since we can see which items/subject areas have been used the most. The circulation module is also very helpful in keeping track of overdue and lost items.

Pros

Easily searchable. Easy to input information.

Cons

No capability to search deleted items by date. In the past there have been glitches in the software where we couldn't remove a patron name or couldn't find all items in the shelf list. Sometimes the record count seems to be a little off. Debi Washington has helped us a lot with these issues. Problems like this have been less frequent in the past two years.

### "Enhancements"

July 26, 2012

4.0

I find EOS staff to be be very helpful.

Pros

Enhancements are very important to improving EOS.

Cons

The rather new system for enhancements is not easy to use, as the old enhancement system was. The new system is difficult to read & navigate, so I do not use it much anymore, since I am a very busy librarian. Why was this system made less useful to users?
