### "Basecamp great for collaboration and project management"

May 21, 2026

4.0

Great tool for team collaboration, organizing, delegating tasks, staying on track with project timeline/due dates and overall project management.

Pros

Basecamp allows for great collaboration. Both internally and with external vendors. Good for project management and assigning tasks to members of a project group. Easy to have back and forth chat on a task/project and copy in others.

Cons

Repetition of notification emails when an update on a project is made and a task is also allocated to someone.

### "Intuitive management and team collaboration tool"

June 17, 2026

4.0

Overall Basecamp is a nice tool for teams or project managers that are looking for something useful and easy to use. You can block access to external users or clients in different sections. If you have any problem (you won't) the customer support answers your questions in less than 48h so I appreciate it.

Pros

What I liked the most about Basecamp is that their visual interface is different from other productivity / task tools. It's clean and simple. Tasks looks like a receipt where you can ✅ whenever you finish them and that's cool. You can also invite your whole team easily and tag them. File sharing is nice, you can also add some emoji reactions that we (gen z/ millennials) appreciate a lot.

Cons

Sometimes it was difficult to find previous threads and notifications wasn't working. So I've missed some important notices.

### "Basecamp 5 is a perfect failure"

June 1, 2026

2.0

The Basecamp 5 update has been the worst update migration experience and I've been a user since Basecamp classic. The number of process breaking changes are so long, we stopped tracking them. Basecamp's response, across the board, to each support request has been "sorry, that's the way it is now."

Pros

Basecamp has been a reliable project management and client collaboration platform since the classic version, delivering consistent core functionality across message boards, to-dos, file storage, campfire chat, and schedules Flat rate Pro Unlimited pricing is genuinely competitive and predictable for teams with large numbers of client users Clients can be added to projects at no additional cost, making it cost-effective for agency and SaaS onboarding workflows The platform served as an effective personalized documentation and training center, with clients actively using every feature

Cons

The Basecamp 5 migration has been the worst product update experience in years of use dating back to Basecamp Classic Dozens of process-breaking workflow changes shipped with no opt-out or legacy mode Admin control over participant notification settings was removed; users must now manage their own notification preferences per project individually, destroying any ability to manage this at scale across hundreds of projects Project list access, archived items, templates, lineup, and other frequently used features were buried behind search bars and nested menus with no direct navigation Support response to every reported issue has been a consistent "sorry, that's the way it is now," with no acknowledgment that the changes broke real workflows

### "Not the most user-friendly app"

March 27, 2026

3.0

I wasn't impressed with basecamp overall. As mentioned I had a tough time finding where things were and staying organized in the app.

Pros

I didn't find basecamp to be very user friendly, the interface is a bit scattered and confusing, and I didn't like the way it was organized.

Cons

The interface, the difficulty of finding where things were, and the constant confusion when trying to navigate within the app.

### "The gold standard for simple, calm team collaboration"

June 26, 2026

4.0

My experience with Basecamp has been excellent. It’s one of the few tools I’ve used that actually makes work feel less overwhelming rather than more. By bringing communication and project management under one roof, it’s helped us reduce email clutter and stay focused on getting actual work done. If you prioritize clarity and team accountability over 'power user' features, this is easily one of the best tools on the market.

Pros

Basecamp is incredibly refreshing because it rejects the clutter found in most project management tools. Everything is laid out in one intuitive, organized place—message boards, to-do lists, schedules, and file sharing. It’s been amazing for our team communication because it keeps everyone on the same page without the need for constant, distracting status meetings.

Cons

Its greatest strength—simplicity—is also its main limitation. If your team relies on complex automations, detailed Gantt charts, or highly technical reporting, you might find it a bit too basic. It’s definitely designed for straightforward workflows, so it might not be the right fit if you have incredibly complex project dependencies

### "Intuitive and Helpful Project Management Approach "

June 18, 2026

5.0

Basecamp has been a strategic and efficient approach for project management and it supports team communication The software ensures we manage tasks effectively and keep all the project information in a centralized environment

Pros

The interface for Basecamp remains simplified and easy to navigate. We use Basecamp to centralize all tasks, projects, documents, schedules among others The app has robust focus on collaboration and this involves group chats and message boards

Cons

The app lacks an inbuilt Gantt charts and this would help us in identifying the progress Large enterprises feels Basecamp too simple and basic, for complex tasks

### "Organize projects, communication and tasks in one place"

May 25, 2026

4.0

I’ve had a very positive experience with Basecamp overall. It’s a great platform for keeping projects, communication, tasks, and files organized in one place without feeling overly complicated. I like that it focuses on simplicity and team communication instead of adding too many unnecessary features. It has been especially helpful for keeping everyone on the same page and reducing scattered emails and messages.

Pros

Pros: Simple and easy-to-use interface Keeps tasks, discussions, schedules, and files organized in one place Great communication tools that reduce back-and-forth emails Easy for teams and clients to collaborate together Faster to set up and less overwhelming than many other project management platforms

Cons

Cons: Fewer advanced project management features compared to competitors like Asana or Monday.com Reporting and analytics tools are somewhat limited Customization options are not as flexible as some other platforms May feel too simple for very large or highly complex teams and workflows

### "Basecamp allows for things not to completely fall apart"

May 22, 2026

5.0

We're using basecamp to prevent drive-by slack requests. So people need to put in a ticket request first before I'll even look at their campaign. No more v2\_final\_v3 file names.

Pros

I'm writing this review on my phone with one hand and my frozen burrito is nuking in the break room just to finish up this mandatory IT survey. Basecamp really did help us to centralize all of the project requests, rather than the endless thread of emails. I was prepared for the "proofing" tools to crash my browser every single time I used them...but it didn't. The custom dashboards are fine I suppose. Seeing what the designers are working on without having to ask them is cool though.

Cons

Search logic sucks, bigtime. unless you type in the EXACT project id then it sits there with no results & u blow thru 10 min. UI is super slow too. Why does legal always pop-up as an option when I'm trying to approve something for my department?

### "Great E-commerce tool for Project Management "

June 12, 2026

5.0

Basecamp was an overall great e-commerce tool for me as a PM. It worked well with my team because we mostly used Shopify.

Pros

I liked Basecamp because it worked really well with Shopify and e-commerce stores for my clients. I could easily integrate shopper marketing tools.

Cons

I did not like that there was limited integration with some of the shopper marketing tools so it was a bit of a struggle.

### "I am glad that basecamp hasn't exploded on us yet"

June 24, 2026

5.0

We can go look at the project trackers instead of checking slack all day. We could have spent hours setting everything up, but now I need not sift through 100s or thousands of emails trying to find a campaign brief.

Pros

Before we had an email chain nightmare. The approval feature works. That's really cool because most platforms will crash when you try to upload a heavy pdf. The integration features are decent.

Cons

It's such a large, clunky system that it takes me 5-10 clicks to even post a single update. The notifications via email are absolutely insane as well. Every little thing seems to be sending me notifications which is extremely frustrating. If i don't know exactly where my file is located then finding that file is going to be near impossible. It's way overpriced.

### "Easy to use project management tool"

March 21, 2025

4.0

Pros

Easy to use, support page and their support team are helpful in getting to know the features. I mostly use their kanban board which help me to track tasks.

Cons

There's no labeling feature. As previously our company uses pivotal tracker and label help us tremendously.

Pros

I have thoroughly enjoyed how streamlined communications with clients have become. I am able to seamlessly communicate with remote clients and share files with ease!

### "Basecamp for the win"

April 27, 2026

5.0

I am big fan of Basecamp, I use it pretty much everyday and I enjoy the recap at the end of the day. It also lets us keep track of contractors and their work real easily

Pros

I love that we can work on projects as a team and that it keeps track of the progress. I also enjoy that it doesn't email you a million times just once in the morning. Big of that

Cons

Im not sure that is a lot that I don't like about it. Maybe that when we use consultants they use their camp and not ours and then Im in the wrong basecamp sometimes

### "The best task and project management resource!"

September 12, 2025

4.0

Basecamp is honestly something I cannot live without in my work anymore!! We use it to communicate across the team and are able to create projects that only align with certain members so as not to cloud the field.

Pros

Basecamp is an absolutely fantastic resource for our team in creating and managing work flows, events, communication, and other programs. It is absolutely crucial for us and we use it daily. It is extremely easy to use and sets up practical plans for completing tasks.

Cons

The one thing I wish that we could do is that when there is a task that multiple people need to complete, being able to have each person check it off individually for their part being complete only rather than having to input individual tasks for each person.

### "Seamless team working and organization"

December 26, 2025

4.0

We have been using basecamp for years and have no reason to leave. The project management is unmatched.

Pros

Basecamp is such a wonderful tool because of how the entire team can stay organized. We are a team of 20 and have so many projects to manage and this application makes it easy for us to manage.

Cons

The only downfall is the interface. Its a bit lackluster and could use a upgrade so it doesn’t feel dated compared to its competitors.

### "Great for Team and Client Communication, but Lacks Advanced Features"

October 31, 2025

4.0

Basecamp is a solid tool for managing projects and teams. It’s easy to onboard new members and keeps all project communications and files in one place. While it lacks some advanced features and the pricing may be steep for smaller teams, it significantly improves organization and productivity.

Pros

I like that Basecamp keeps all our communication in one place, so we don’t get lost in endless emails and everyone stays on the same page.

Cons

It can be expensive for small teams, and the editor feels limited, so some enhancements would be nice.

### "Basecamp is best for Small, Simple Projects"

November 20, 2025

4.0

I use Basecamp on relatively small projects with smaller teams. It really can't accommodate large complex projects

Pros

It's easy to learn, very intuitive. The message board very nicely keeps team members updated without much effort.

Cons

Basecamp is geared towards small projects, it doesn't handle large complex projects well. It lacks advanced reporting tools.

### "Better suited to larger projects but still useful for smaller teams"

January 16, 2025

5.0

Used for mostly small projects, feels like overkill for anything with minimal moving parts, so other tools such as trello might be more suitable for those, but more than does the job and can be a good push to use some of the more in depth functionality to improve efficiency / comms / files/todos etc

Pros

Extensive suite of features, can manage large projects easily and across larger teams, and with several complex moving parts. Good file storage, threads, to dos, can do a lot with it

Cons

Can be overly complex/overkill for smaller projects. Needs a bit of tweaking to get it to match your requirements re: communications cadence, use of features, and mild training with internal/external team

### "Helpful communication and asset hub for teams"

March 18, 2025

4.0

I've had Basecamp as an offering at various ad agencies where it was important to have various teams and individuals have a central hub for documents and creative to collectively access.

Pros

Allows teams and departments to easily communicate and leverage as a repository important assets such as creative that can collectively be accessed, revised, tracked, as well as allowing members to provide feedback and edits.

Cons

My experience with it still felt like it was a small pain to use and included too many extra steps to access.
