### "Simply best bang for the buck."

April 7, 2022

5.0

Basecamp was an excellent program we used to the fullest. Ease of communication and implementation where simply amazing. I have recommended Basecamp to few associates and they seemed happy with it as well. Very cost effective.

Pros

Basecamp is scalable. That was impressive to me. As we grew and needs changed Basecamp grew with us. Easy to understand and use. Everyone on the team used it. The price was affordable and you got top of line service and operation.

Cons

Cons are few mostly because it changed as surveys came in the changes happened.

### "Basecamp Helps Keep Me Organized"

November 1, 2022

5.0

Overall, Basecamp is helping me stay more organized. Setting tasks for upcoming projects helps me make sure that nothing is slipping through the cracks. I've set my browser to automatically open it first thing in the morning so I can go through and assign priorities for the day. I love it.

Pros

In a role where priorities can change on the daily, it can be difficult to keep everything organized without a little help. Luckily, Basecamp is extremely easy to use. It allows you to organize your projects into different teams and buckets so you can stay on top of everything.

Cons

The only thing I can really think of is that it would be great if you could add some automation. Being able to automatically initiate a task once another is completed would be fantastic.

### "One of the best Project Management tools out there, but is it for you? "

March 11, 2022

5.0

WE LOVED using Basecamp at the beginning, but as our company kept growing, and had different clients, different level of projects, some easy some complex, or many per client, we saw twhere Basecamps' limitations lie. BUT, it's just felt that this was very specific to my industry(where you handle many clients and many projects, smaller projects, etc). But if you're a company looking to have this tool for your Internal project, it's GOOD. Easy to use, fast, etc. It's quite different than trello or asana, or even clickup. It's way simpler. And you have to get used to the only view they give you. Other than that, it's a great tool.

Pros

We love this software: - Ease of use - Easy to onboard and explain - The best pricing model out there. Unlimited users, only one price per month. THANK YOU - Good support - Great integrations with third party apps

Cons

\- No sub sub tasks - Not the best tool to handle different projects at the same time with different structures - Not the best tool for certain industries, like Agencies or the ones that handle multiple clients.

### "Basecamp uses to simplify complex projects in multidisciplinary environments."

October 16, 2022

5.0

Basecamp is reliable, the contributions are actually registered and notified on time, in addition to the fact that we can see the progress from its mobile application. In short, it is extremely useful for monitoring activities and its usability is highly intuitive, which allows staff who are not familiar with the latest technology to be incorporated.

Pros

It does not require investing time in training for the use of this platform, we learn as we use it, Basecamp takes care of sending us those notifications that we need, related only to the projects in which we are working, as well as informs us when we are late with the dates in order to be able to contribute to the execution of the project without incurring additional delays.

Cons

Basecamp is excellent for a successful execution, however, for large projects we must be careful to make a good parameterization that allows us to carry out efficient monitoring. This is because in projects with a large dimension, a clinical eye is required for an integral visualization.

### "Honest Basecamp Review by a daily user"

August 9, 2022

5.0

I will rate it 9 out of 10 and will say that if one or two things are improved , then it would be the best app in this category.

Pros

The accessibility to every category of features and the variety of functions provided. Also it is very affordable or we can say under the budget as compared to Asana or other such software or apps.

Cons

The thing I like the least about the software is that sometimes it takes a lot of time to open the app initially and then we have to go for troubleshooting.

### "Basecamp is excellent for client management tasks that involve multiple departments."

April 4, 2018

4.0

The main benefit of Basecamp is the ability to assign out specific tasks to specific individuals and with a due date. As a full-service digital marketing company, we benefit greatly from the software's overall project/client-focused design. Basecamp helps my medium-sized company to know which members of each department on working on a client. With the due date feature, users can indicate time-sensitive or priority matters. This feature is optional, which allows our company to distinguish between short term tasks and long term goals. Basecamp's design is checklist-oriented. Checklists appeal greatly to our more meticulous employees, but also encourages the more Type B employees to focus their ideas into timely and measurable tasks. The newest upgrade to Basecamp 3 introduced the Campfire feature which is ideal for internal projects, a benefit that was missing from the previous version. This aspect of the software is perfect for intra-department non-client work. For example, the account management team uses this feature to collaborate on building a new template for our client presentations. Overall, Basecamp allows my company to achieve large-scale goals by breaking them down into distinct tasks.

Pros

I work on the client-facing side of a medium-sized digital marketing services company. I love that Basecamp aligns perfectly with our multi-client firm. The latest upgrade to Basecamp 3 expanded the product's utility. Basecamp's design allows my coworkers and me to assign and manage tasks across departments. The new Campfire feature expands Basecamp's utility to include internal project management in addition to the main benefit of organizing client work. This feature allows for a more casual flow of ideas for projects that my team is working on as a group.

Cons

I dislike that Basecamp does not allow the user to know the workload of another coworker. For example, if I need a small change to be made to a website, I would assign that task to a member of our design team. They are very busy and sometimes that task can get backlogged if the recipient has a long list of assignments to complete. Additionally, when assigning out new clients, it is important to see which of my team members has the extra hours in their schedule to handle a new account.

### "Basecamp Makes My Job Easier and More Efficient. "

October 13, 2022

5.0

Overall, I've been using Basecamp for 11 years now. It's a great tool for keeping track of communications, documents, projects and tasks and communicating with clients. It's also been essential for our firm for internal communications regarding each project. It's great for remote workers because it's a central communications hub for handling projects with team members. Our firm members are spread from Austin to Detroit. When COVID hit and we went all remote, it was a simple transition because we were all using Basecamp. Business just kept on going. It's user friendly, and doesn't keep changing dramatically with new updates. Basecamp makes my job easier and more efficient.

Pros

The beauty of Basecamp is in its simplicity. It is exceptionally user friendly. This is so helpful because we need our clients to be able to easily communicate with us via Basecamp. It is also easy to communicate with team members.

Cons

The only downside of Basecamp, is the lack of ability to prioritize projects and tasks.

### "The industry's top organizational and communication tool"

August 27, 2022

5.0

With Basecamp, we have been able to finish significant projects while facilitating straightforward communication with staffs and volunteers. It's excellent to work together on original concepts and offer feedback when assignments are turned in.

Pros

Basecamp unifies features like private and public chat, calendars for arranging meetings, task management tools, file sharing and storage, etc. under one roof so you don't have to pay for several tools for distinct functionality. It has every piece of machinery needed to run an entire business. The task creation and tracking are properly planned, and every team, project, and job has its own discussion and sharing scopes similar to a group. All staff members have access to the organization's current statuses, encouraging an open culture. Surveys and feedback gathering might be done using the technology.

Cons

Without the capacity to thread comments, it can be difficult to handle when a task chat deviates from the linear structure that Basecamp was designed for.

Alternatives considered

### "Basecamp is an extreme value for a small business"

November 27, 2021

5.0

Having used Basecamp now for well over a year, I would say my experience has been extremely positive. It has helped me get our many projects not only organized, but accessible in a single tool.

Pros

Flat monthly fee for entire team (no concerns about additional charges down the road) All in one solution provides messaging, task lists, file storage and more. Cheaper than buying individual tools like Slack, Dropbox and Asana Easy to use, super clear user interface Access for external customers

Cons

Doesn't provide a view of your entire organization workflow. Visibility is more at the project level. No time tracking As simple and clean as the UI is, there is still a learning curve as some features are not super intuitive.

### "I always come back to Basecamp"

July 30, 2021

5.0

We have three sites. What Basecamp has provided is the unification of messages and tasks across all sites. It has added transparency that is invaluable to all of our team. We can keep important documents. Onboarding videos and other useful information. No more scraps of paper or post-it notes on peoples desks. It provides real accountability for everyone on the team. So simple to use which means 100% user adoption. Everyone loves Basecamp and we have tried every PM software out there. Basecamp is the best in the business!

Pros

When you first start using basecamp, two things strike you the most. It’s clean super tight interface and the lack of some common functions. I see both of these things as a positive. This might seem odd but you soon realise that the makers at Basecamp are uncompromising in their relentless pursuit of keeping you efficient. No bloat. No complication. These all adds up to adoption by the whole team. Which for me is the most important thing. You can have a perfect project management system, but if no one uses it. It’s useless. Basecamp’s gets everything on the same page.

Cons

I would love the app to give you persistent reminders for tasks! Snooze for 5 mins etc.

It has made our job a lot easier the project tracking and planning is a vital element in basecamp. Communication has been very efficient in a real-time basis.

Pros

The user interface is very easy to understand. The home page shows you all the projects and lets you navigate between different projects. You can communicate with every team member easily. You can also tag people if needed. you can unsubscribe yourself from any unnecessary notification. The focus feature is also helpful when you don't want to be distracted

It has been a good experience overall. It helped us for task management and replaced trello and google chat

Pros

It is a combination of a tool that can be used for collaboration and communication. This tool provides with a basic task management functionality. Task management is very good on the tool and tasks assigned can easily be segregated.

Cons

Tool is very basic and we face downtime every now and then. Project/task management functionality is very basic.

### "Basecamp is being used by UN, its easy and quick to get started"

Amazing, I get my work done. With template, I can get my new project started in no time.

Pros

Its an easy project management app, and one can start using basecamp in a few hours to get the business setup and task lined up

Cons

Although there are no complex features in basecamp, businesses don't need that. The PMO related features are mostly for product development, software, or other high priority projects

### "Basecamp is the best all user portal!"

January 16, 2020

4.0

Our team has always been collaborative but with Basecamp used as a tool, we have been able to increase our collaborative spirit. In addition, we have been able to accomplish projects and tasks faster because it gives us a way to share which piece we are working on and thus eliminating duplication.

Pros

I love Basecamp! I think it is a great software for keeping tabs on projects and people you work with. It is a collaborative space for users to update each other on what parts of the project they are working on or finishing up. It gives our team the balance needed to ensure no one is working on the same thing or on overlapping projects. It has been a huge asset and we have all loved watching the progression of projects and campaigns we are working on. It has many settings so you can really set it up based on how your team would best thrive.

Cons

One con is that this product could easily turn into a micromanaging tool for bad managers and leaders. When utilized properly it will do wonders for your team but if overused it could be a huge pain point and stressor for employees. They allow an option to have your team give a daily summary of their tasks and I could easily see that going wrong if used by the wrong manager.

### "A simple yet very effective Project Management Tool"

January 10, 2023

5.0

Overall I have loved using basecamp. I think that it does its job well and helps us to do the same.

Pros

I love the simplicity brought by this tool. It has helped me to quickly and easily add projects for my team to work on and I am able to see progress as each of the projects is moved along in the process. I also love the collaboration that is involved with this project and the ability to set up notifications that help you to stay on top of deadlines.

Cons

I think that sometimes I got a little bit lost with the volume of projects that we put into our dashboard and I wish that there were a way to get a little bit more of an overall picture without having to scroll through all of the projects or pieces of projects as they are making their way through the project flow.

### "A project management tool for everyone."

May 15, 2022

4.0

Basecamp has definitely been beneficial to us as an organization. We did not have a tool to do what we use it for. We literally just had a server that files were stored on but did not have cloud access to them.

Pros

We love the ability to upload large files, using the phone app's to communicate within each project, sharing project's with specific people on the team rather than everyone on the team.

Cons

I would like to see a file list mode just like you have when viewing the contents of your computer folders. Some people like the graphic interface for everything but others need the convenience or efficiency of a list view.

### "I have used Basecemp to communicate with independent contractors, internal creative team and clients"

April 25, 2018

5.0

Keeping all creative edits, documents, client information in one place was great. It was very organized and helped me to be organized and retrace my steps when needed.

Pros

I mainly used this product when I was working in advertising but we still use it for the design of our program each year with our Communications team. You can create projects and determine who can see them - so, for example, I have a client (X) and my internal team (Y) and independent contractors (Z) for Project A. I can have an ongoing project named Client X where I've added all my internal resources to discuss every project we are working on with them where I can do everything from give SOW, get an estimate of time, create a timeline, receive rounds of work and communicate with my internal team with all changes in one place. I can remove people from conversations that they may not need to be a part of, but they can come see the conversation later if they choose/need to. I will receive email updates from Basecamp every time someone has sent me something on Basecamp. I can also have a Project named Project A where I add members of the client team. Here I can get approval for the cost, send a timeline and all drafts of the project. I can also have a Project named Z for the Independent Contractor. Here, I can get an estimate from this person, send them a proposed timeline, and receive their work. It keeps all of the documents in one place, all edits, all communication and can be organized however it suits you!

Cons

When I was in advertising, the main issue I noticed was that people who don't take the time to learn how to use Basecamp are it's biggest downfall. For example, we have everything from Account Managers who respond via email (which works, but inserts their signature unnecessarily into the comment every time) to creatives who create a new thread everytime they have an update to a project, which defeats the point of being able to look back at every edit/communication to see when a change was made or was supposed to be made but was missed etc. It can also be detrimental if you don't select the appropriate people to see your comment/document. If you just reply to the people who were on the previous comment without checking who was on it, you might not be sending the draft to the right people and it will get missed. Another thing we noticed is that people who did not want to acclimate or never properly learned how to use Basecamp would not read the messages in their email and assume that it was not for them. So you still have to manage up because if you want your higher ups to be looking at something, sometimes they still ignore it =)

### "I've been using Basecamp for nearly a decade - decent but not ideal solution"

September 15, 2021

4.0

In general, I enjoy using Basecamp and it has worked for keeping track of files, comments, approvals and edits. It is not a great place for planning, brainstorming or instant communication.

Pros

Basecamp is the first project management/team collaboration program I've worked within so I feel comfortable with it's features and interface. It's great for file sharing and discussion about a particular file or document, especially as it's clear what team member has commented. It's also useful for remote work and as a hub for teams from different institutions to have a collective work/share space. Although we have not recently used the 'To Do" feature, I think it is useful and good to see on the landing page as a means to keep everyone on task.

Cons

The planning features are lacking as are the collaborative brainstorming features. This software focuses too much on showing you snapshots of recent activity rather than helping you project and plan.

### "Basecamp Review"

January 18, 2024

5.0

Using Basecamp has been a really fruitful experience. It made working on remote projects easier and more productive for us, as there were no communication problems. Basecamp provides a shared dashboard that displays all project details, including plans and progress, which further aids in keeping us all in the loop regarding the project activity.

Pros

Basecamp provides a really helpful group chat feature that lets us communicate in real time, no matter where we are in the world. This enables us to have extremely fruitful conversations, particularly while working remotely, which produces outcomes that are just as good as those obtained when working on-site. It gives us access to a shared dashboard where we can monitor the work that has already been completed, the work that is scheduled, and how our job is to be completed. It's simple and extremely safe to share files and other materials.

Cons

Nothing about Basecamp bothers me the least, primarily since everything about it has been working really well.

### "Managing projects is much more seamless with Basecamp."

July 20, 2023

4.0

Basecamp makes it easier for me to collaborate and communicate with multiple members of my team , regardless of their physical location in project management context.

Pros

Basecamp's capacity to assign specific tasks, establish recurring responsibilities, and monitor progress for each project element within a unified interface is truly invaluable. This aspect proves especially advantageous when working with remote teams, as it ensures everyone is well-informed about their assigned tasks and schedule items at all times. The clarity provided by Basecamp contributes to improved project efficiency , even in the presence of multiple concurrent initiatives within my department.

Cons

My main gripe with Basecamp is its cumbersome and challenging search function. While the calendar feature is useful, navigating the interface can be quite challenging. Additionally, there are restrictions on the number of times an event can recur within a specific time frame.

### "Basecamp is a Good Project and Team Management System"

Pros

It is easy to find what you're looking for in Basecamp once you've got your head around the program. We really like the way the program is a platform for team and project management all in one. It makes the management of every aspect of business easier!

Cons

The one thing I personally didn't like was it felt a bit of a clunky interface and was not exactly easy to start using, took a while to figure it all out. But once you're familiar with it and have worked out the clunky bits, it does get easier to use!

### "Game Changer"

September 12, 2023

At first, I was skeptical that BaseCamp would be any different than other software we used (e.g., Trello & Slack), but the immediate difference when we went live was noticeable. As a company leader, I instantly noticed product market fit as the team embraced using BaseCamp as their preferred means of managing tasks, communication, and projects without top-down pressure. We haven't looked back since and it enabled us to work effectively as an entirely remote team before, during, and after the pandemic.

Pros

Assigning task ownership, deadlines, to-do, and the card management system for kanban/pull processes.

Cons

I want to get more out of the timeline feature. It's a great idea, but I haven't been able to leverage it for project management timeline communication effectively.

### "Effective Tool To Keep Every Tasks And Teams Organized"

April 19, 2023

5.0

I can easily check what activities have been finished, what projects are active, and which documents have received approval. Any client can easily log on to the software and browse the projects. Additionally, it is simple to comprehend and use for new team members as needed. The notification system is also quite helpful for informing us of team updates.

Pros

It provides a number of features for file organization and sharing, which greatly facilitates teamwork. We were able to consolidate all project-related communications and duties in one location, making it simple to update everyone on the project's status. In one location, we can make task lists, share files, send messages, and establish deadlines. Additionally, it included a time monitoring function that allowed us to monitor the amount of time spent on each activity or project, which enhanced our budgeting and planning.

Cons

There are fewer third-party apps and services that it integrates with. It would be excellent if it allowed for the simple completion of other activities and the attachment of large files. The platform occasionally loads quite slowly.
