### "I use basecamp at work to communicate with my colleagues. It is fast and accessible. "

June 23, 2018

5.0

I was able to share my work and communicate with my work colleagues on a daily basis. Also, the ability to share different types of files/documents through Basecamp was very useful. I use the pings to chat with my coworkers. It is much faster than sending emails and attaching files. The to do list gave us the opportunity to divide tasks and asses its progress.

Pros

I like the fact that it is not only web based. It can also be accessed through the mobile application. This is fast and easier than sending emails to communicate especially when you have to have daily discussions with your work colleagues. Basecamp is also useful as we can assign tasks/to do lists which makes it easier to be updated with the progress. The message board is very useful in short discussions. Campfire is useful for group discussions. The ability to send and receive different types of files always comes in handy.

Cons

Personally, I would like if basecamp had cheaper student pricing or a system where students could access it free through the universities. I would also be interested in a Windows and MacOS software to interact with rather than a web based application. It would also be great if it had the option to make/record video conference calls within the application. This would be great for project based work. The video recordings can be saved as discussions for other members to use later.

### "Too much hassle, too much possibilities"

November 24, 2020

4.0

Although I wish it worked out, given the reputation of Basecamp, the brilliant book I read from their \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and their overall vision on remote working, I cannot say it did. It is probably brilliant for some, but we never managed to make it fit with our way of working.

Pros

I started using the product after reading a book of one of the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\]. The company culture was so inspiring that I had to use the product. The "one place, not all over the place" - their current promise - is what they were good at back then as well. It was our intention to use one platform as a central environment to keep track of projects, involve customers, set priorities, define the roadmap etc. The promise was what made us test it in the first place.

Cons

We never were able to wrap our head around it, probably because we already were using different tools to communicate with customers, we kept our documents on Google Drive, used Trello for task handling etc. The "one place" promise is brilliant on paper, but in reality never worked for us. We tried it for a while, but when you have to drag people in every time again, it just does not fit your needs I guess...

### "Basecamp is a Great Collaboration Tool"

December 29, 2020

5.0

This software helped us easily collaborate and manage tasks and easily go back and access files that I'd say worked better than other project management software I've used primarily because we used it often eternally with outside vendors. Internally, we use different project management software which works better for our needs, so I'd say Basecamp is a better software for us with outside vendors. Internally, we rely on more detailed project templates and individual task layouts that it didn't seem like Basecamp could offer.

Pros

My team used Basecamp to work collaboratively internally and with another vendor sharing to-dos, marking them complete, and files, and tagging people and easily communicating with eachother. The software made it very easy to share the files, make comments about changes, keep track on what needed to be done, and such.

Cons

Sometimes with so many different categories, it was difficult to navigate where things were and go back and find files, but in time I got more familiar with the layout and the search function was used a lot and came in handy! Other than that, I don't really have any complaints, it worked well for what we used it for: project management and collaboration and file sharing.

### "Best for team work"

August 9, 2021

5.0

Good experience so far, as it is critical software for me to collaborate on task with my team.

Pros

I like that Basecamp is can provide all my need for task managing and team communication with this single platform. It has a task tagging that really helpful every time i am having a discussion on the communication hub, and can tag the task that i want to discuss with my colleague.

Cons

The user interface definitely need some improvement to have a better user experience. Too many tools or menu need to be clicked to reach to the tools that i need, and it sometimes confusing me. More integration option with other third party software will definitely will be helpful.

### "Basecamp helps keep us on deadline"

January 3, 2024

5.0

Pros

Basecamp has been instrumental on keeping everyone informed about all the moving pieces of our marketing. We make our deadlines due to this software and the reminders

Cons

I feel the overall software could be updated to be a little more user friendly. It feels like it could be a little more flexible in design.

### "Excellent way to organize projects and communicate with others on the project"

April 21, 2018

5.0

Organization for my projects in an easy to view and use format. Communication with clients is much simpler with the email and reply in an email features.

Pros

Basecamp makes it very easy to organize discussions around particular topics. It is simple to include files and links in your discussion, keeping everything in one place for easy reference. The fact that my clients can reply to an email to keep the discussion is one of the most useful parts of Basecamp, because otherwise I know many would not take the extra step to login to Basecamp and we would be back to the systems of unorganized email threads! When someone posts something in the wrong thread in Basecamp I can simply move it to the correct thread and let the person know I have done so. Being able to have sections in the project for my eyes only is helpful because I have everything for the project in one place and the client is not overwhelmed with too much information that they do not need to focus on.

Cons

It is rather pricey and some clients just won't use it. Basecamp 3 has some great new features, but for me, the old version, Basecamp 2 is what I am used to and better suited for my simple projects.

### "Great project tracking for simple projects"

February 9, 2021

4.0

I would definitely recommend Basecamp as a great, easy to use, and powerful solution for basic project management, but if you want something more robust and geared towards software projects you might find it lacking.

Pros

Basecamp was easy to set up and start using for our software development team and business liaisons. The learning curve was low and it was simple and intuitive for everyone to start using for communication, task management, files sharing and collaboration.

Cons

This product isn't really geared towards software development teams and to that end it lacks a lot of features that I would like to see like Kanban layouts, issue tracking, and integration with other services like our source control platform.

### "Good experience with Basecamp"

August 12, 2021

5.0

Good experience overall with this software. The pros outweigh the cons.

Pros

Basecamp is one of the software that me and my team regularly use it to manage list of our internal project for our department. It has a good project planning feature that we can tag the task to specific member, and it also has a wall messenger that we have use it for quick memo and notice.

Cons

The email notification is quite persistence in keeping us to do more activities on their platform. There are time that i had a long vacation, and end up with mass email notification from this software notifying that i has not use the software for some time and it is really annoying.

### "Using Basecamp has totally changed the way my organization is ran"

July 10, 2018

5.0

Mostly it saved me tons of time. Everyone can easily see who is doing what without sending so many annoying emails and attending wasteful meetings.

Pros

The three things I love most are the ease of use, how nice it looks, and how useful it is. Basecamp is super simple. It's easy to learn and it allows you to keep all the data you need in easy to navigate locations. There's no searching through folder after folder and file after file for the data you need and the status you want to update. No more needing a bookmark bar full of websites to rummage through. More direct or analytical people may not care (or think they care) about how nice the tools they're using look, but believe me... If you want to get your entire company on board with a NEW product you're going to want it to look good. For better or worse that goes a very long way toward getting people to want to use a product no matter how useful it is. Which brings me to my next point: it's useful! This software has honestly saved us SO much time because we now get to avoid so many status update meetings. I personally only had to attend one status meeting each week and build the slideshow for it, but that alone saved me personally three hours. The rest of our organization spends who knows how many going through those things and Basecamp has fiercely cut back on those. It's awesome.

Cons

The only con I can really come up with is a people issue and not a software issue. No matter how simple, useful, and well designed a piece of software or website is, far too many people are just going to try and ignore it so they don't have to learn something new. Fortunately Basecamp is nice and easy enough that it wasn't a huge problem.

### "Amazing tool for managing your clients and projects"

January 24, 2019

4.0

My overall experience with base camp is quite satisfying. I admit that I get the service which I was hoping. I can now more efficiently handle my team and my clients. My clients can now connect with us in a more better way than before. I would recommend this to others.

Pros

I liked the user interface. It is super easy to navigate through the entire interface. I can effortlessly find the essential options that I need to perform a task. Earlier, I was having a little headache when I had to assign tasks to my team and keeping track of them. But, Basecamp has made my work super easy. I can now use the to-do section of the basecamp and easily assign the different tasks to different people. I can now easily keep track of all the functions. I also liked the discussion boards section. Now, people can quickly ask the questions in a common area without having to worry about whom to ask. On our website, the critical files and documents were earlier placed in a very haphazard way, and our clients were finding a little difficulty over accessing them. Now, due to basecamp, our clients can see them easily.

Cons

I am missing the video conferencing part which is found in the competitors. Pricing is okay for me, but it can be more affordable also for small size enterprises. It should contain the visual representations like charts to make it simpler for representing the data and simpler for others to understand. It must provide more customization in the UI. It contains minimal sub-tasking.

### "Fixed our team!"

October 25, 2020

5.0

This program solves our disorganization and order of operations issues we were having.

Pros

I think the most impactful part of the program is that now everything is in one place and everything is accountable for I'm bored. You no longer have to worry if you directed someone to do something and if they completed or not. This now helps to get everything organized and in order as if there was an employee they're performing all of the work.

Cons

I haven't done anything that we liked least about it yet play the but we do like the improvements because we had tried it a few years ago and it didn't work as well as it does now for our company.

### "Basecamp is software that makes work life easier and more productive"

July 17, 2018

4.0

Before we started using Basecamp, we used several tools, but none left us totally satisfied. Some Before we started using Basecamp, we used several tools, but none left us totally satisfied. Some of these tools were very powerful, too versatile in fact in relation to the use that was had. Basecamp is a very interesting software, because it is one of the best organizers of tasks that are currently on the Internet and the most important thing is that it provides a series of tools to workers and collaborators to work together, has an easy recipe that is the optimal utility rather than the multiplication of functionalities that are not always exploited and the flow of fluid information among collaborators, managers and customers. It is a simple software because it is one of the best organizers of tasks that are currently on the Internet and the most important thing is that it provides a series of tools to workers and collaborators to work together, offers great ease of use and a range of functions among which stand out the automatic reminders, calendar management, document management, programming of individual and group agendas. Its version for the mobile phone is fantastic since it combines the software with the e-mails and finally its internal chat via campfire. Basecamp has fewer options than other tools, but the fact is that it is quick and very simple to use. Currently, Basecamp is very well considered and valued as an organizer and manager of tasks for teams of people who work collaboratively. If you are an entrepreneur, consider offering your employees a valuable tool that would be very helpful with their work. It's much easier and more effective ...

Pros

the software allows automatic reminders, task and document management, individual and group agenda management with multi-language features and can integrate the software with e-mail and cell phones.

Cons

Despite all the cost is quite accessible in the basic plan, Although there is a free plan, which offers you certain advantages I think you should extend the validity time as well as the advantages, for medium-sized companies have a more advanced plan could mean more investment.

### "It brought our project management and internal comms to another level"

August 5, 2023

5.0

Couldn't be happier!

Pros

It is really an all around great platform for various tasks, working in an agency with over 100+ projects going in at any moment it is really easy to control individual projects but also get an overall overview of all projects quickly. It helps with team comms and overall it has greatly improved efficiency within the company and definitely paid for itself.

Cons

It wasn't always easy to set up projects in a recurring way or from templates, but the team at BaseCamp works with development sprints and keeps improving the product regularly

### "It is the easiest to use and most complete enterprise organization software on the market."

September 24, 2018

5.0

Pros

When we began this beautiful project of our editorial line, we looked for thousands of ways to organize fundamental aspects, such as the tasks to be performed, the personnel available for each of the tasks, the particular functions that each of the members of the publishing house would fulfill and the achievement of individual and collective goals. In this process we had many setbacks because we could not adjust ideally to the context, the international schedules, the worshippers, artists and musicians available and the delivery times of each of the products. Thanks to Basecamp we were able to overcome each of these problems, and I can say that today we are a more solid editorial line with clearer and more sincere objectives. Basecamp has allowed us to shape work goals that are broken down into specific functions of each of the members of our publishing house. Video editors, audio editors, literary graduates, arts editors, creative writers, photographers and supervisors, we have established the ideal work order which, as a consequence, has allowed us to present products of higher quality, supervised and corrected in the expected times and in the best possible way. Basecamp came to our editorial line to stay a long time.

Cons

To reproach or criticize something of this software is to leave aside each one of the positive characteristics that I have mentioned previously. Our department of computer science and software purchase has made innumerable tests and collected testimonies of each one of the workers that we see ourselves in the task of using this software and we only obtain positive elements. It is a software that we recommend to each of our suppliers, friends, colleagues from other companies and individuals who plan to build a company.

### "Good for working on specific projects"

April 3, 2021

3.0

It's great if you have a small amount of specific projects (like a website) to build but if you're working on multiple projects it gets tricky fast.

Pros

It's easy to track the evolution and history of a project as well as share files on this software.

Cons

However, it can be very tricky to stay organized if you have multiple project going and the reporting leaves a lot to be desired.

### "Amazing tool"

November 15, 2017

5.0

We have managed to solve multiple problems when managing projects. We have clients to satisfy and team members to manage. To make sure that the team members are on the same page, there is the to-do list feature which keeps the members on course when it comes to what they are supposed to do. For the client team member communication, that is taken care of by Basecamp. You can communicate with the client now and then to report to them on the progress of the project. Apart from that, you will be able to review the objectives and requirements on the client as they observe the status of the project. On the same platform, we are able to share files among team members and clients which makes our work easier moving forward.

Pros

One of the best things I love about Basecamp is its ability to get project teams up to speed whenever there are changes or additions made with project items. I'v been a user for more than 5 years and have seen tremendous improvements made over the years. They're not the type who just sits there and promote their product.

Cons

The thing that I don't like with Basecamp (this may have something to do with the configurations made with the projetcs when taking over previously used projects) is how they appear linear when displaying its latest updates.

### "Over-glorified, Over-complicated, Under-functional "

August 28, 2018

2.0

I first came across Basecamp probably 5 years ago in an online review. I didn't use it at that time, but the review made it seem as if it was the only way to succeed in business. I however find it more than lacking.

Pros

Tracked (https://www.trackedhq.com), an external integration exists to allow Kanban to be used in Basecamp. This is really Basecamp's only redeeming quality.

Cons

I use Basecamp because we use it company wide. There have been many glaring issues with it though. - Basecamp 3 only recently added recurring events. Before this, each occurance of an event had to be scheduled manually. - No subtasks. This is a big one. If there's a project that needs to go to Designers, then to Managers for approval, then to Developers for implementation, there's no easy way to handle this. You can create a new list just for this little project, but then you end up with way too many lists. - Its difficult to keep track of the status of a project (and each dependency). There are times when both the designer and developer are on the same To-Do, the designer checks it off when they're done with it, but there's no way to assign to the developer for implementation once they've finished it without every designer knowing that it's their responsibility to pass the assignment along, and to who. - There are different aspects to tracking a task (who's doing it, and what step they're on, and who needs to work on the next step). Basecamp does not provide enough dimensions for tracking the status of a task.

### "My awesome experience with Basecamp"

July 30, 2023

5.0

My overall experience with basecamp has been amazing and very efficient in my work life. The features it offers are very useful and straight forward. The pricing of Basecamp is also justifiable for the features it offers. I would definitely recommend my friends and family who work in a office to use Basecamp.

Pros

The most important and useful feature of Basecamp is it's task management and scheduling. It is so easy to be updated with the latest tasks and deadlines while using basecamp at our office. Everyone knows what tasks they have to do and when they have to finish without anybody reminding them. This has helped our office staffs a lot as they can stay updated at their home as well. The communication feature of Basecamp is also very useful as we can make announcements and it has a notice board system. Our collogues can respond to the announcements as well which is very useful for communicating.

Cons

All the features basecamp offers are great and very useful in our office life. There are features to have a direct chat with someone or have a group chat, but still I would like to call with my collogues because I find it easier for me to communicate. Hence, a audio call feature would be a game changer.

### "Few compare to BaseCamp"

October 18, 2021

4.0

It is a good option for information to flow through large groups of people as it allows projects to be completed efficiently. Its functionality is limited in many aspects, so it is not a software that could be recommended for situations outside the work environment. On the other hand, it lacks the opportunity for customization for projects but is still very effective in that it allows for quick configurations without confusion. It excels in remote parallel work and in this day and age this is a function that should be prioritized.

Pros

It has a simple design, in which nothing is missing or missing and, in addition, with a very intuitive interface, so it is easy to understand. It is suitable for use as a file management system and for parallel work, an indispensable tool for remote work. With its functionalities you can work smoothly and its automatic updates help you to be aware of what is going on. The control it offers is excellent for large groups of people.

Cons

Cost. There are already applications that offer more features than BaseCamp and are free; on the other hand, the graphics are not always of professional quality. The free trial offers many limitations and it is necessary to pay for the product and it is disappointing to find out that more functional software is available for free.

### "Participating we all build a project "

September 7, 2018

5.0

The implementation of this application, has allowed us to organize the tasks and the teams that work in the execution of the project, as well as in the interaction of the participants, that being communicated at all times, helps to increase productivity and improve the results . It has also allowed delegates tasks to each member of the team working on the project, obtaining with this, the contribution and commitment of all and be able to make decisions among all in real time, without the need to postpone work, or arrange meetings.

Pros

What is a simple, practical, quick and easy to use tool, and for its versatility can do the same as other applications. It is an excellent project manager, which helps groups and companies to complete tasks in a more functional way, creating the real possibility of interaction of people, focusing on communication, collaboration and integration, to manage projects and teams, allowing users to access the files, as many times as they want, to be communicated and participate in the construction of the project

Cons

I do not like that despite the versatility of Basecamp, it can not be integrated with other applications, and its free version only allows a single project, so if one is going to work seriously with project management, it is recommended that you purchase at least the basic plan, with which several projects can be carried out

### "Ok for very small businesses, bad once you grow."

June 17, 2021

2.0

We had to stop using it recently, and implement an alternative. As we grew, Basecamp simply ran out of features and our other software just leapfrogged in terms of functionality.

Pros

It was cheap, and still is. $99/month for all the projects you have is nothing, but you get what you pay for.

Cons

The reality is this software is just like email, only anyone can log in the read the thread. A better option would be to sync your email with your CRM, if the CRM uses email thread tracking.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Basecamp was cheap at the time.
