### "Clean & well structured Project Management tool, best suited for startups & SMBs."

July 10, 2018

4.0

Pros

It's a well organised, clean & effective task management tool suited for most people. It's quite easy to setup & use. And, it works great for distributed teams to collaborate on various projects. Task assignment, tracking progress, project timeline projections (baseline), budgeting, and templates are the stand out features. After setting up all the tasks, it helps form the baseline which is useful to compare the project progress with the original timeline. You can upload all the content related to a project to have it handy & share it with team for collaboration.

Cons

Basecamp may not suffice for complex & bigger projects or for mature startups which need more features & have more things to handle. Dev teams too may require more development specific features. It's suited for marketing, design & business teams primarily & for lean startups, it's slightly pricey compared to other task management tools.

### "Basecamp review after a year of using "

December 15, 2023

4.0

Basecamp ensures our team remains on track, progressing systematically. It enhances our efficiency and thoroughness, leaving no room for missed details.

Pros

Basecamp excels in its simplicity, avoiding feature overload, enabling focused collaboration on essential tasks, whether it's organizing retro meetings, roadmaps, or projects. Its mobile support, reasonable pricing, impressive hill charts, client accessibility, and user-friendliness stand out as key advantages. I enthusiastically utilized Basecamp in a previous role overseeing a team of seven due to my passion for organization. For us, Basecamp serves as an excellent task management system, offering fantastic visibility into task and project progress, with its ease of use being the primary appeal.

Cons

This product's downside is the absence of certain features across all versions, which we found to be limiting. The complexity arising from various Basecamp versions is my singular complaint about the platform. Encountering a poor experience led us to switch away from this product. I am unable to remove an inappropriate comment from a parent, which is a notable limitation.

### "Its strength is its weakness."

August 29, 2018

4.0

It's a great central receptacle for projects/teams/tasks. I can easily tell who's working on what, and ping them if they seem to be falling behind. If you're a listmaker/boxchecker, you'll love it. It's also good to be able to go back and look at project/task history, because it keeps track of all of the details in one place.

Pros

It's an incredibly simple tool, which means it's very easy to pick up. It's designed to be usable on just about any type of team. And, once you understand it, you can use its simplicity in your favor. There are some external plugins that make it a little more powerful, depending on how you want to use it.

Cons

Once you start using it, there are a lot of things you'll WISH it did, but again, the 37signals team have designed it with the intent that it be simple. The good news is that they pretty regularly roll out new features based on feedback from their customers. It's hard to know how granular you need to make your tasks until you start building out projects.

I am really happy with Basecamp. It helps our team keep track of tsks, identifying where help is needed.

Pros

Helps with day-to-day tasks management and workflow. Easy tracking of tasks and prioritizing tasks.

Cons

I would love more task "view" options. Maybe a board or calendar option would be nice—more options with personalization.

### "Good integrations but some limitations"

February 13, 2019

4.0

Our nonprofit organization is doing our project management on Basecamp. I think we could have done a better job figuring out our needs first before selecting this program as our tool of choice, as we are slowly finding out the limitations that are preventing us from using this fully to centralize all of our work.

Pros

Integration with googledrive and dropbox is nice for version control of files, and the ways to invite clients to seeing just parts of projects is also a benefit.

Cons

To do lists are not intuitive and they can't be easily categorized or tagged such that similar to do's across different projects can be seen at once. You can see the things on your own calendar that you are assigned to do but not managing (so it's harder to check up on other people's assignments across projects). I haven't found an easy way for a document to be filed (and synced in updating) across projects either, except for just going to googledoc route, but comments are still limited to one project.

### "Ease of use"

March 14, 2021

We uses Basecamp at my firm to keep track of projects and as well as to communicate as a team which helps us to keep track of the progress of the work. sometimes the client representatives are being added so that the representative can keep updated of the projects details and progress.

Pros

Basecamp is one of the best project management software I have come across. It has really helped us to maximized the time in carrying out a lots of our projects. it is very easy to understand and setup which makes it easier to be settle among our team members and even some of our client

Cons

Well, as far as I am concerned, it is very okay and very cheap going with the pricing of other similar software. Although, I wish there should be some enhancement on its integration with some other basic apps.

### "A business critical software tool"

October 15, 2020

5.0

Basecamp is a business critical product for us, our business would have not succeeded in the most recent months with out it. It’s super easy to use, set up of new projects is easy and speedy and everyone understands how to use all of the various sections.

Pros

I love how this tool offers one place to communicate, track and store all of our files. This is super important given the environment we work in currently. The alerts allow us to keep up with cross departmental projects and the schedule and reminders make sure nothing is missed!

Cons

The web application is not as good as the app. We have to use the web application for this to work with our time tracking software.

### "Positive Basecamp Review"

February 12, 2021

5.0

I am overall very happy with this product. My team has been using it for 3 years and I found the implementation to be pretty simple, and the interface is user friendly so everyone was able to pick up how to use it quite quickly.

Pros

The ability to organize all of my teams projects has been a game changer. We use basecamp to store files, create task lists, evaluate workloads, and communicate with each other. For years we did all of this through email and things were consistently getting missed, but with Basecamp, everyone can be on the same page, and the level of transparency it provides has cut down on the number of status meetings we've needed.

Cons

The messenger feature in IM is not nearly as good as many others I have used (Skype for business, Teams, Slack). Also the desktop app has never worked well for me, so I have to log-in through my browser which can make it easy to miss notifications since their is no notification bubble reminding me to check in.

### "Collaborative tool for teams, which organizes projects in a simple and effective way"

June 8, 2018

4.0

The software offers users automatic reminders, calendar management, document management, employee scheduling, group agendas, information and task management. You can also integrate the software with e-mail and mobile devices, record documents and requirements, all conversations, requirements and shared files are stored on the platform. This material serves as a backup to endorse agreements, requests and deliveries. Therefore, when starting a project we agree with the client and the different teams that if it is not in the intranet, it does not exist.

Pros

This tool is characterized, fundamentally, by the simplification of working methods and by favoring a fluid flow of information among users. I think it is oriented towards SMEs. With this tool you can manage the internal communication of a company and the organization of their respective projects such as the case of joint work with business partners. In this way, it brings together all the teams, projects and work groups in a single platform. Another positive aspect is the control of man hours, since it facilitates the monitoring of the work and the counting of work hours of each professional, something very important for the internal management of the projects. In addition, you can add collaborators, clients or external suppliers and also count their work.

Cons

The user interface is in English and it is difficult to manage by non-English speaking staff. Another point against is that the platform only works online, so you can not advance in jobs when there is no connection. However, this last point has not caused us major problems. Despite the benefits, I find it quite simple, compared to other similar tools in the market.

### "Basecamp 2 vs. 3...they limited too much, and didn't make the upgrade better."

January 21, 2017

4.0

We have been using this since BC1 and have watched the product evolve. Our favorite by far is the second edition, and still use that on major projects. We signed up for Basecamp 3 and upgraded when it released, hoping it would keep the core elements of BC 2 that we loved, but it didn't. It's a completely different system. The client side is way too simple and document management is pretty much gone. If you upload a file to an email to send to the client, it does not show up in docs and files immediately. You have to put it there yourself. I've been a fan of Basecamp for our project management software for years, but I think they need to go back to some of the core functionality of BC 2 and integrate that into BC 3, specifically the client being able to add 'To Do' lists, better file management, and to be able to create 'Threads' instead of just sending emails. BC 3 looks shiny and pretty but it's really not as useful as BC 2.

Pros

Easy to use, not too expensive

Cons

BC 3's backend system for clients is limited. Needs better document management, and ability for clients to have more actions (if we want them to).

### "My Favorite tool for Project Management"

May 19, 2021

5.0

Basecamp has been a great tool at my organization. I have been able to see measurable levels of improvement upon completely and timeliness across my team since implementing the solution. Its comes loaded with features and tools that I highly recommend you take to time to learn. This will ensure you get the full value from this excellent tool. We have since implemented sharing Projects and teams with our clients for Project management, sharing documents and communication. This has gone over very well with our clients!

Pros

My favorite piece about this solution is its ability to deploy system wide and its ability to function as a granular to do management tool for each team member. The ability to create teams, and projects, while assigning to do's in each project gives excellent visibility into who is responsible and what needs to get done to complete on time. Its been a game changer both for our organization and for me personally.

Cons

My least favorite thing about Basecamp is its inability to create reoccuring tasks and or to do's. Everything must be created one by one, therefore any reoccurring tasks have to be rebuilt each time. Not the worst thing ever but it would be nice to have a reoccurring option.

### "An option for Project Management that is worth considering."

June 18, 2018

4.0

Carry out a fairly good and orderly project management, able to allow the collaboration with several team members, work on various projects and accessible anywhere.

Pros

When you are a developer that undertakes tasks other than work, you need tools to manage and maintain order with the projects, this is even more important when you work with other people and these are not necessarily in your city or country, this is why basecamp is an excellent option to manage projects, a very versatile tool, making your time and that of your colleagues more productive, it has excellent features such as automatic reminders, a very complete document management where you can allow several people to edit or review, a management of agenda so that you take precise control of your time increasing your productivity, programming of tasks for other members of your team and even group agendas so that the work team achieves an optimal performance based on the tasks that each one must perform, it is fantastic and it will bring great benefits to you and your team.

Cons

The free version will not allow you to work seriously,

### "Excellent Project Management Tool: Basecamp"

January 6, 2023

5.0

Overall, Basecamp is an excellent project management tool that makes it easy to collaborate and keep track of projects. Its user-friendly interface is accessible to users of all levels, and its features make it well worth the cost.

Pros

Basecamp is an incredibly useful project management tool that makes it easy to keep track of tasks, deadlines, and progress on any project. With a user-friendly interface and plenty of features, it's a great choice for teams of any size.

Cons

The only negative side of Basecamp is that it does not offer features such as time tracking or invoicing, which could be useful for some projects.

### "Ease of Task Management"

June 20, 2023

5.0

Would highly recommend this product to others! I've used FreshService and didn't like it nearly as much as I like Basecamp. Basecamp is intuitive, easy to learn, easy to use, and helps in daily task management.

Pros

I love that I always have a record of the work I have accomplished - when we go back at the end of the month or fiscal year for reviews and for records of when items were completed, it's so helpful to have easy to access documentation to review.

Cons

Sometimes there are errors when assigning tasks to others, but that very rarely is an issue.

### ""Basecamp is unquestionably the most effective approach to store information.""

December 1, 2022

5.0

Pros

The features of Basecamp that I like the most are many. One of my favorite and most useful tools is the bookmarking feature. I can store bookmarks on it and retrieve them quickly at any time. The schedule enables me to make appointments and reminders for duties, such as inputting student notes and other items that may be found in the website's "own things" part. Docs& Files, another important feature unique to Basecamp, allows users to store documents in Pdf file format on the internet Pdf file format.

Cons

I object to Basecamp's absence of vital features and privacy for commercial use. The style and language of these apps look quite straightforward; however, the process for periods of formal is vague and unclear. Some companies might find the design of the user appealing; however, it doesn't work with our current media platforms and adds no value to our system.

### "Hate to love it"

June 17, 2021

4.0

My over all experience is great. I haven't been using it for too long, but for the time I have been using it I can see myself making this my long term project planner. It really does have everything I need in one package.

Pros

At first you are like this makes no sense I am already using 10 other products for these tools that are already set up and functioning why would I switch? Next thing you know you have a hard time leaving base camp because everything you need is right there. It takes the best features from the known players and integrates them.

Cons

I would say the product needs integrations. Even though it is supposed to be a one stop shop for everything. Some teams are more than likely only going to use some of the features and their default for the others. If there were integrations with some of the main players in their respective fields it would be beneficial.

### "Expensive But Worth it For SOME"

February 23, 2021

5.0

I use basecamp; I am happy with it, but I wouldn't turn my cheek at an alternative that cost less or even cost the same but did more.

Pros

My favorite thing about Basecamp was the fact that it was an all-encompassing product for me. There is a chat function that is particularly helpful during COVID-19. So many questions or conversations don't need a phone call or a zoom call. Having it IN the program makes it easier to refer back to in the future. The task assigning feature helps people keep track of their responsibilities and minimizes the issues with miscommunication that can often come from the distance we are experiencing. I also really love the fact that I can have ALL of the documents in the program itself. Many of my documents need editing or need collaborators to have their input. We just have them download the file from basecamp and upload it with their initials at the end so we know the file and we know whose edits are in it. It doesn't have to get emailed out to everyone which means it never gets lost in spam and it doesn't get glanced over.

Cons

Price is my biggest "issue" with basecamp. I wish that it cost less but you DO get a lot of space. 500GB is quite large but if you are a high volume business, it can fill up quickly. Especially if you keep all files from years past. It seems small but it's not visually pleasing to look at which isn't a big problem, but it's something to note if you are affected by that and plan on using the program a lot.

### "Basecamp helps keep us on track and on time!"

November 10, 2017

4.0

We have saved time, provided better communication throughout projects, are able to hold individuals or teams accountable , & have the ability to review after action reports from past projects.

Pros

I like having the ability to create projects with taskings ("todos") that can be as broad or as streamlined as we want to make them. The ability to have all communication for any given project in one location is awesome! I love the fact that we can load documents and files directly into the project for review and discussion. Being able to loop multiple people in on the discussions helps us to utilize our time more wisely by preventing unnecessary face-to-face meetings. I really appreciate the ability to create and use templates for projects that we repeat throughout the year or even just once a year.

Cons

Would like the ability to move templates from Basecamp2 to Basecamp3 or the ability to create a template from a project within Basecamp3.

### "Basecamp is great for organization!"

August 6, 2020

5.0

We are keeping projects moving in a more efficient way, saving on printing with a digital platform and communicating and collaborating in a new way as well.

Pros

I really enjoy the organization side of basecamp with a lot of different projects happening and different people involved, it really has been helpful to keep things organized.

Cons

I feel like Basecamp is lacking some tracking things and analytics. It is hard for my supervisor to see from a 30,000 foot down at what my entire team is doing. We have had to add her to every project to keep her more in the loop and that is a bit of a hassle.

### "One good replacement for old fashion email groups"

May 8, 2020

4.0

I have been using Basecamp for several years. I initially used it as part of a state wide IT group. I'm now also using it for a state wide Transportation Managers group and a state wide group of software users of Therap. The system is light weight and easy to use. I'd definitely still recommend it for people still using things like Yahoo groups.

Pros

Basecamp is very user friendly with a cheerful user interface. If you are looking for a platform for communicating with a large group of people (getting rid of the email list-serv type email groups) then Basecamp is a good choice. There is no cost for this software and it is quick to setup and use. Even if you have end users who struggle with technology.

Cons

There are a lot of products like Basecamp on the market. Many of which include a lot more features. Though I still actively use Basecamp for some of my departments, especially those groups with a lot of people from outside my company, I have started using Microsoft Teams for internal groups. Basecamp would benefit from incorporating a live meeting feature, e.g. Zoom, Skype, etc.

### "A perfect task manager"

December 7, 2020

5.0

Pros

I love how easy it is to use Basecamp as a simple task manager. Lot's of other software come with many more functionalities but with the burden of no one in the team ever using them. This one is as simple as it gets, but still powerful enough to get the job done.

Cons

There's nothing I don't like about it. When we decided on basecamp we knew the limitations it had in comparison with other productivity tools, but we chose it for that same reason. Keep it simple, get the job done

### "A Poweful Tool to keep your team on track"

September 10, 2020

5.0

Its been quite fantastic. We have been using it for our Agile projects. We are not a fully Agile Agency, but we do have projects that are strictly agile, and this has provided us with a platform to keep our team, contractors and Clients on the same page.

Pros

Basecamp is a great task management system that allows for great visibility for the team on where tasks and projects are at. The ease of use is the main sale for us. We use it in addition to our project management tool, but Basecamp takes minutes to set up for tasks. You can also include you clients is the projects or tasks, or restrict their view to only certain tasks and areas.

Cons

There is no finanacials management in this tool. However I understand that this is not the main goal of Basecamp. It is not meant to be a robust system that integrates CRMs, Budgets and HR. Basecamp is strictly file sharing, task management, team communication etc. In this way it is great for creative teams as they don't get confused with all the other tools that PMs and AMs use.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

We actually use Function Point as our robust software, but needed a lighter and simpler software to take care of tickets for Agile Web Development where we could distribute tasks to all stake holder such as contractors, internal team and clients

Thank you Basecamp for helping me regain control and focus of my team members wich has helped my company grow in a faster rate and overall less stress then before. We highly recommend this software to any company trying to reach a better level of organization and keeping their teams well informed and connected.

Pros

That it was extremely easy to use as it kept my team connected and informed about the project and task we nead to complete for our clients. It saves time and energy having everything my team needs in one place instead of 3-4 other programs. My team can now focus more on the project instead of the hassle of staying connected and documenting the product throughout each phase with having to use multiple programs.

Cons

My only complaint with BaseCamp is the simple fact of I wish I would have used it and implemented it throughout my company sooner.
