### "Quite okay as a project management"

July 8, 2021

5.0

Pros

Basecamp let me to involved with multiple group in my organization and i can see all the project progress on all the group from this single software. The communication platform let me to connect on real-time with my team on the group and it also has a group messenger that they call "fireplace".

Cons

Basecamp only has one template for each of the group department category, and i would like to see more build-in template that can be applied for the group template. The tools for managing a task is also too basic, and no advance or complex tools are available for making the task more flexible.

### "The perfect organisational software worth every cent."

October 23, 2020

4.0

Basecamp on so many lengths has proven to be a great software to organize and manage your projects as a superviser would, with better performance impossible to achieve in human capacity. We have been able to complete micro and macro tasks to impeccable standards.

Pros

Using Basecamp feels like being in an evelated position to oversee all your project activities and identify the oversights while monitoring literally all activities. With Basecamp, you have the neccesary tools to run a timely schedule and map your progress at any given time. Customer support has always been there to offer help regarding any issue you have.

Cons

You are unable to customize your preferences in the aspects of tile colours to fit your organisation's themes despite your premium subscription.

### "Simplicity, speed and quick learning"

March 28, 2018

4.0

Mainly having a simple and easy to use tool, that has the basic tools to manage projects, besides its cost makes this one of the main options when working individually or in teams that are not so big.

Pros

Basecamp is an excellent option for project management, perfect for when you work individually or in groups not so big, because I say this, because the main feature of the tool is that it goes straight to the point, it is simple, it stays in the basic tasks and that is its main attraction, the learning curve is short, so it can be implemented and learned quickly, is easy to use, stable, has the most important tools that are the task lists, the file exchange, the messaging system and organization, is an excellent option for frelancers or small / medium projects

Cons

As its simplicity is its main weapon, it can also be considered its disadvantage, this is because when you are in a large project that requires more tools, basecamp can be short and you may need to migrate to a more powerful tool, besides You must pay, and the free version is very limited, so it practically forces you to buy it.

### "Great project management tool"

March 17, 2021

4.0

Basecamp has everything that I personally expected when I worked at a place that used this. The interface makes a lot of sense even to employees that were less technlogically apt.

Pros

One of the most refined tools in project management. Full of many tools which can be used to base a smaller business on.

Cons

Contains a lot of features that are better implemented by single purpose tools. A selling point is that it can replace Slack, Dropbox and GSuite, but in practice I doubt anyone would actually switch out from those.

### "I keep coming back to Basecamp"

October 29, 2018

5.0

I've tried every project management & teamwork app under the sun, and I keep coming back to Basecamp. The tiered communication channels - docs, messages, campfire, pings - help to surface urgent messages while keeping everything else organized. The "work can wait" philosophy helps to keep notifications and activity from becoming overwhelming.

Pros

Basecamp promotes a tiered system of communication channels - docs are the least urgent, followed by messages, comments, campfire, and pings for the most urgent. Unlike Slack, where every message, no matter how mundane, is received with the same sense of urgency, Basecamp allows my team to get into focus mode and prevents unnecessary interruptions.

Cons

The "Docs" feature is pretty weak. There are very few options for organizing documents, and the Google Docs integration is little more than a link out to the Google Doc. I wish for a real live team wiki, where Basecamp would be our single resource and internal knowledge base.

### "Great scalable solution for small and medium size businesses"

March 12, 2021

5.0

For small to medium-sized businesses, Basecamp is a great solution to simplify the process of creating new products, from ideation to completion.

Pros

Basecamp is very easy to use, the interface is clean and intuitive. We can invite external clients to see the status of their projects without incurring in additional costs and the pricing strategy makes sense for us. We can continue to hire new people without having to buy additional licenses.

Cons

I with that tasks had their own ID that we could refer to later. Moving from systems such as Jira where each ticket had an identifier, this is something we miss in Basecamp and would love to see implemented.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

We've tried a few project management software and basecamp was one of the easiest ones to work with. We were also familiar with the work done by \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\], which increased our confidence in the company.

Switched from

[Jira](https://www.capterra.com/p/19319/JIRA/)

Jira was too complicated and clanky for the small team and kind of projects we were dealing with, we also needed to give access to external parties to follow the progress of their project, which was not easily done in Jira.

### "A fundamental tool for collaboration and team communication"

September 7, 2018

5.0

Using it to manage all company communications, files, tasks, and calendars.

Pros

Among the many tools that feel just natural to use after a while, the one I couldn't live without is the progress screen (which allow me to see my progress, a user's, or everyone's), the shared tasks and calendar functions, and the custom e-mail notifications. I have set up a number of special notifications so that I am informed whenever an update on a specific project happens, and I don't have to be checking in constantly or reading unnecessary information. This is more of a permanent database for all of our team's updates, while we use Slack to communicate in a more immediate fashion. Both tools have virtually replaced e-mail, and whenever we do use it, it gets forwarded through filters to Basecamp, so it's not really necessary as a tool per se. This definitely saves us a bunch of time.

Cons

It is not the cheapest of tools, but if you balance out everything you are getting for the price, it is worth it. I wish it would have more integration with other tools, or invoicing capabilities, but I understand it is not meant as a CRM although in many ways it can be used as such. Other than that, I don't have many dislikes as I have grown used to the interphase and it has been really helpful for our team so far.

### "Easy to use and everyone is on the same page"

July 5, 2023

5.0

It's brilliant for collaboration.

Pros

Basecamp integrates well with Outlook for email notifications and also a host of other suites such as Microsoft, Lookout Way etc. I like that at once glance you can see the initial project or topic, and the workflow/responses all in one easy to read format.

Cons

Everyone can see everything everyone writes

### "A Top Notch To Project Management"

September 19, 2020

5.0

Basecamp is simply a prominent project management tool with a clear and concise roadmap. Since we had implemented basecamp at our office, we are able to replace all external commuication like emails, whatsapp and fb/messenger, and able to keep the communication secure, direct messages(Pings) all inside the basecamp. Since all of our internal communication can be done through one app, so there's no any risks for data leaks, and commuication feature on the app is made secured enough and can be accessed by the project teams only. Building prototypes, demos and to-dos all can be done within the app. With Basecamps we are able to get optimum results, getting our project teams straight into the work, scheduling project module has led to operational efficiency at work with dedicated manpowers.

Pros

Basecamp has an interactive User Interface. The navigation is incredibly smooth; Latest project updates, team discussions, to-do lists- all these items can be accessed from a single page. Each projects can have multiple to-do lists, which makes basecamp flexible for large span business projects, and also great for inter-office collaboration.

Cons

I am having problem with the calendar view option. Though I can add custom to-do works, and schedule important future events, but the app is not showing notifications before the event starts. This has caused me to miss important events.

### "A great solution for managing tasks and projects"

January 23, 2021

5.0

Basecamp has allowed me to ease my work as both a student and a teacher by managing all my communications and tasks for me. It is a very cost-effective and time-saving software.

Pros

I simply love the amazing features and options embedded in this software that are very useful in organizing and communicating within an organization. This includes both internal and external activities. As a teacher keeping track of my students and their relevant classes, is an easy-go task for me with Basecamp. I have no worries in missing activities and deadlines.

Cons

The biggest fallback I saw here is that it's a bit confusing for a beginner. But with time and usage it fades.

### "I have to use this for work and I'm never happy with it"

April 4, 2019

2.0

Bad, very bad. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy to have to use their platform. Do your research of many other platforms before deciding on one, don't decide off the hype. If it fits your needs and is exactly what you need, great! I doubt it will be though for anybody who cares about a platform that does what it needs and gets out of the way otherwise.

Pros

It keeps track of everything and accomplishes the basics of project tracking.

Cons

It is UGLY and I don't think they put any investment into usability and the interface. It looks like a bunch of developers through together something but they didn't consult anybody about the User Interface at all. It shows because the software is ugly, not very usable, and only accomplishes the basic. I've had to modify how I work to fig the software which is never good. There are so many better options out there I'm not sure how Basecamp is still around aside form companies who use it are so embedded in it they can't leave.

### "Great price structure for some basic project management"

May 3, 2017

4.0

Pros

It's great that you can invite outside team members without huge pricing. Works well for collaborating with outside consultants or people who are not using internal team apps and/or software. There are some handy project management features - like assigning tasks and moving them around as need be. The email notifications that let you select which team members receive notifications is quite handy as well.

Cons

It tries to be a communication tool and a project management tool but does not quite have enough features from either one to do either job really well. Prioritizing projects or tasks gets difficult. The program feels a bit clunky at times with the straight up and down layout. It can be easy to miss details in conversations and have things all blend together. It would be nice to have start and end dates for tasks and an easier way to define critical paths within projects.

### "Basecamp works quite well for our needs as an organization. "

February 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

I've been both a user of Basecamp 2 and Basecamp 3. I have to say, there were many frustrations with Basecamp 2. Basecamp 3 is much better, and works very well for the unique approval process for content, design, etc. that we have at our organization. One of my favorite parts is how you can tag multiple people on a To Do (one of the major lacking points on Basecamp 2) as it helps make sure everyone is kept in the loop. It helps create a much more seamless flow so things don't slip through the cracks. I also like how you can tag a specific person in a comment, even if they don't necessarily need to be on the entire To Do, but just weigh in.

Cons

I don't really have any complaints to speak of at this point. Like I said in my previous comment, Basecamp 2 was difficult to work with because of it's lack of tagging multiple people on a given To Do. That was my major pain point.

### "Review"

March 21, 2022

5.0

Pros

Basecamp is very easy to use. It is very efficient when collaboration with others team members. Through the use of a discussion board, it keeps conversations organized.

Cons

There should be an added feature that allows people to put deadlines for specific tasked. Also, a bigger color selection would make it easier for people to color organize.

### "great tool for getting your list of task together"

April 19, 2021

4.0

Pros

quickly create a list of tasks and get back to work is critical. The ability to assign tasks and add people to communicate is very nice. Reply from email and get the response inserted into the thread is helpful.

Cons

lack of organizing tasks. No subtasks. only one view of tasks. If it had a calendar view of due dates would help us plan better. not able to sort conversations so the latest message is at the top versus having to scroll to the bottom of the message thread to view a response.

### "Basecamp- The Tool for Project Management "

September 29, 2022

5.0

Overall, Basecamp is incredibly efficient for organising and managing projects - teams can be added and can work across a project with quick communication and file sharing.

Pros

Basecamp is easy to use and collaborative meaning a team can communicate internally under different projects. The system is linked to Google meaning profiles are easy to use in conjunction and communication is speedy as an email notification can be applied when there are new additions to a conversation

Cons

The only drawback of Basecamp is that it is a little tricky to set up a new board however once got the hang of it was easy to begin new projects and manage this in the system. Contacts can be added and different sections for files/ areas of the project which makes it very comprehensive.

### "A software I wish I knew earlier. Basecamp has simplified my work suitably."

December 8, 2023

Highly recommend. The software is adaptive and reliable. It also promotes collaboration and togetherness through message boards.

Pros

Basecamp cuts across all departments, it has brought unity in target accomplishment and streamlining communication. I easily hold group chats with my colleagues and the best thing is, I can manage this remotely. User-friendliness encourages the user to learn on their own. Also the customer service is great. I look forward to greater achievements with Basecamp.

Cons

### "It keeps getting better"

July 3, 2023

5.0

Pros

I’ve been using Basecamp for years and at first I didn’t like it, but now I can’t imagine my work without it. It has continued to get better with time. New functions are released regularly. The design isn’t flashy, but it also isn’t confusing. Everything is pretty clean.

Cons

I wish projects were a bit more flexible/customizable. Even visually this space could be so much better. Would love to introduce better project templates, process tiles, and things like that.

### "Essential Tool for Project Management "

September 6, 2022

5.0

I really enjoy Basecamp. It's super user friendly and well organized. I use this software every day to check in with my projects, collaborate with my team mates, and keep track of documents.

Pros

The app and the website are really well done and easy to use while on the go.

Cons

The only negative feedback I got from my team is that it was a little difficult to change the notification preferences, but I think that was more of a user error.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

A colleague of mine was using it already.

### "An adequate project tracker"

January 9, 2023

3.0

Works well for simple tasks and small teams, but starts to fall apart when more control and customization is needed.

Pros

Basecamp's slimmed down UI helps the user to not feel overwhelmed. The Kanban boards are great for organizing your tasks on a macro scale.

Cons

The biggest issue we had was that there was no native way to track the status of a project in an intuitive way. Simply having labels or a status field that is easily visible would have alleviated a lot of stress. Also setting up clients and projects within those client sections always felt like there should have been one more layer of hierarchy. So we had to work around that.

### "Fantastic tool for project management!"

March 8, 2019

5.0

I don't know how I would have done my job as Project Manager remotely planning so many events across the United States and in other countries without using Basecamp. This tool allowed me to succeed as an employee, allowed me to plan future tasks while also prioritizing which tasks needed my time and attention now and which I could table for later. By staying organized we were able to provide our customers with the type of service and event that they deserved. Thanks Basecamp!

Pros

Basecamp is super easy to use! I used Basecamp to remotely project manage over 200 events over the course of a year that had many of the same recurring tasks. I particularly liked the following: 1.) I could create templates for each of the different types of projects that I managed. This saved a ton of time when setting up an "event" in Basecamp as I didn't have to create the same tasks over and over for each type of project that I was managing. 2.) It's a great tool for communicating and coordinating with other team members involved in the project. You can assign dates and tasks to other individuals and Basecamp will sent them reminders as tasks need to be completed. 3.) You can keep all your notes and correspond with team members within each project that you set up. This is great when your working with people that work in other locations and other time zones. Basecamp allows you to upload important documents and communicate about the progress of each project.

Cons

I can't really think of anything I didn't like about Basecamp.
