### "Love Basecamp!"

Organization! It keeps projects and ideas in their own spaces. It's fun to brainstorm, but you can't always put every idea into action. This captures long-term stuff you want to accomplish and helps you knock off the baby steps to get there.

Pros

It makes organizing projects so easy. We're a smaller company and use some outside resources. This is a great way to keep everyone who needs to be there in one project or organize teams. I also used this while at a much larger organization, and it was just as easy. I love being able to assign specific roles people so you know exactly what you're responsible for. Checking off items is so rewarding!

Cons

It's really hard to find one, but I suppose if I HAD to nitpick, I wish there was a way to look at all projects on one calendar. I also wish there was a plugin or something for social media for scheduling and organizing content. Both of those are a bit of a reach!

We use this for both Project Management and Team Management. We like the fact that both of these options are available. I work on an IT Web team and have used it for quite a while and it has proven exceptionally beneficial for site redesigns and new site launches. We create standard to-do list templates for these types of projects and we always know what tasks need to be done, assign them and know exactly when they are completed. Then we can copy a project and all our pre-formatted to do lists are included! Overall, this tool has been instrumental in both managing our projects and teams within the Web Team.

Pros

\* The fact that you can collaborate with users no matter who they are or where they work. \* Love the document collaboration feature, we can share documents and upload changes in a shared space. \*Two separate formats for a project site vs. a team site \* Keep important message threads here vs. potentially losing them in your regular email.

Cons

We know you can link a Basecamp calendar to a Google Calendar but we couldn't figure out a way to link it automatically the other direction, a Google Calendar into a Basecamp Calendar.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Cloud-based hosting, no concern over having to manage our own platforms on our own servers and keep up with updates, etc. Short learning curve and good product reviews!

### "Been using Basecamp for years, can't imagine porting over to anything else"

Pros

I've used Basecamp for my business personally for close over 3 years now. Before this, I was just emailing assignments out to people on my team, and "tracking" things in an Excel spreadsheet. The process worked, but it was cumbersome and inefficient. One December morning, I woke up and decided that it was time to get streamlined and organized, and had heard several other people raving about Basecamp, so I decided to give it a try. It took a while to get all the projects set up - which certainly is no fault of Basecamp - I just had a lot of clients to set up, and a lot of projects, requirements, etc. Now, I cannot imagine my life without it. Several clients we work with use Asana (out of all project collaboration platforms, this one is my least favorite since it's always a disorganized mess), Trello, Jira and Podio. I find Basecamp to be the most intuitive and easy-to-use out of all of them. Plus, it has a great app that I can use on my iPhone and iPad when I'm traveling.

Cons

There aren't any real "knocks" to Basecamp, per se. Sometimes the server might be down, but this is few and far between... and also something to be expected when you're using SaaS, cloud-based product. Sometimes I don't get email notifications when someone has updated a task thread, but I use the calendar and "progress" functions on Basecamp religiously, so am usually able to figure it out pretty quickly.

Basecamp is a good platform for work collaboration, but still need to work more on the chat features.

Pros

What I like the most with Basecamp is because all the features that my team and I need to collaborate and communicate internally are readily available with Basecamp. Additional features like task designation help to assign the task to my team members.

Cons

The internal communication medium is rather basic and not many chat management or setting can be use with it. I hope they can make it a bit advance with file sharing and gif file sender.

I use Basecamp to manage clients from all different project types. I manage websites and have clients uploading page content, images, documents and more. We use basecamp to manage tasks and check them off, virtually, which is nice for a to do list application.

Pros

I like being able to assign tasks to multiple people on my team or the client. I have a dozen projects going and all of my clients have access to their tasks. They can also add their own to do list items, discussions, and media items.

Cons

Onboarding clients can be difficult. Sometimes adding multiple images and files can be cumbersome to download as the download button either doesn't show up or it's very hidden at times. Managing multiple projects and be overwhelming.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

More feature rich and easier to add clients and check off individual tasks.

I discover Basecamp in September 2011 and I have been using it ever since. With Basecamp I have been able to successfully lead projects with a team spread over Burkina Faso, France and the United States. Today with the Corona virus disease, Basecamp allows me to work remotely with partners as if we were physically together. If you are looking for a solution for the collaborative management of your project, I recommend Basecamp.

Pros

I really liked the following features of Basecamp : \* Collaborative project management with a team project ; \* The creation, editing and reuse of task lists ; \* The creation, observation and management of schedules of deadlines; \* The ability to exchange messages within your project team; \* The ability to exchange electronic files within your team; \* The ability to track and manage project time; \* The possibility to exchange ideas within your project team via a writeboard ; \* The possibility to create and view a personalised RSS feed. With the software's documentation I had no trouble using Basecamp: it is very easy to use. Because everyone I work with has a computer and an internet connection, integration with existing business processes was easy for us.

Cons

Basecamp has some disadvantages : \* It does not have tags or labels \* It has Limited cross-project views \* It has Limited reporting and exporting capabilities \* It does not have enough integration

We love Basecamp when we work on big projects with outside vendors. We can give the outside vendor access where they can add items to a to-do list and add documents directly in folders on Basecamp.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it is very easy to use and keep projects organized. There are a lot of things you can customize and items are easy to be edited and moved around. If you're working with different companies on big projects, you can easily give access to basecamp to individuals outside of your company that work on projects with you.

Cons

There is not much that I don't like about basecamp but I wish there was a calendar function built into the software. You can easily connect your Outlook or Apple calendar but I wish there was a way to view items just on a Basecamp specific calendar. Also, I would like to see Slack built into the functionality of Basecamp.

Basecamp I have been using it for many years and it has been very useful for my academic and work life. Having the possibility of undertaking a team project to which contributions can be added from different platforms seems very enriching. I strongly recommend Basecamp.

Pros

Basecamp is very easy to use because it offers a very simple interface that makes the software almost no learning curve which is very useful for users. It gives us the possibility of developing a project and having access to it from different platforms and users, which allows communication between the work team. It is very easy to attach files as well as links which is very useful for any job.

Cons

Maybe one of the disadvantages of Basecamp is that it gives the option to customize what does not allow me to change the background color (as if it can be done in other programs of this type) or insert images to identify us as users.

BC provides a great service for a good price. Their support is excellent - it's quick and helpful -- and if they can't help you -- they are honest about it (that is, if they don't have the feature you want, etc.) . You really need to do a trial with it and run a few projects to see if their workflow matches yours.

Pros

We used BC2 for years, and managed over 100 projects with it. It's a solid, reliable project that IMHO is even better with the release of BC3. It's quick and it's easy to add lists, and the lists are easily organized. One of the BEST features is the ability to seamlessly have clients on tasks (only the ones you want) -- which makes checking email a thing of the past. Of course you have to get clients onboard with it, but most of our clients were happy with it. Printing lists (which is surprisingly missing in other products) is great.

Cons

In fairness to BC, they tell you up front what they do, and what they don't do. One of the reasons we stopped using b/c was the lack of Gantt charts. Of course there are 3rd party add-ons, but we didn't like any of them. Also, with BC it was difficult to get a big picture of everything that's going on with all of your projects at the same time (for example seeing an overview of selected due dates for multiple projects isn't easy).

Basecamp is a great tool for managing work. The website is easy to use and works like magic. I have used it before and had no problems with it at all. I highly recommend using this product as an effective way of communicating with your team members, employees or clients in order to create better relationships and build trust between you all so that you can get the most out of each other's talents, skills and abilities .

Very happy with it, works super well and it's easy to use.

Pros

I was tired of the complicated scenario for project managers, you needed a PhD to calculate how much it would cost. With Basecamp you have a flat fee and access to all features. it's all we needed. I don't even need to tell about this software, since is a well know service and essential to many companies like ours. From project management, client communication and file storing, you have all under one simple roof. If you need to manage a project, just get this!

Cons

Can't name one thing, this app just works perfectly for our needs.

One of the key features I would recommend in the Basecamp apart from the features in traditional other PM applications are interactive communication channels , informative dashboards , mobile friendliness. Basecamp comes with the various communication channel such as group chats , pings and etc which help users to interact with the others and get information distribute easily. Interactive and easy managing dashboards help users to virtualise the data in more accurate way. All mobile platforms support very well.

Cons

Basecamp has given less priority for the time managment and that will make bit hard for users to track down the completion of the tasks.

For some reason I'm in the position of needing to convince people that email is antiquated. With a productivity tool like Basecamp we can implement different systems for communication. We are still getting everyone to switch mindsets on this but it is working! slowly but surely ... Basecamp has a lot of good no-nonsense tools to get these jobs done though I wish every day for a couple more features ...

Minimizes email, easy to organize to-do's, email archives

Cons

cannot ping myself, REALLY REALLY DIFFICULT TO KEEP TRACK OF CONVERSATIONS because there is no preview option for chats unless I don't know how to use it, SO MANY CLICKS to get to various features although i recently learned command J and that is super helpful. I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO PIN THE MOST USED FEATURES TO MY HEADER - AND NOT HAVE TO CLICK THROUGH TO MY BOOKMARKS PAGE saying all that, after my initial disgust with basecamp, two versions ago, im' getting used to it and starting to like it now. just wish some of those features would change. would also LOVE a modular list builder ... PM me for that!

I worked with a nonprofit with a dispersed team all over the USA, and some outside the country. We used Basecamp to track not only the overall project I was managing, but projects underneath that overall project, bringing clients into the use of such. These were not tech-savvy clients, but most seemed to understand Basecamp quite well. Some of our clients are people with disabilities, using assistive technologies, and they said the software was, for the most part, accessible.

Pros

I was able to jump into the project I had just joined, get up to date about what had happened so far and see exactly what needed to be done. As long as everyone keeps their information up-to-date, you have a complete record of what's happening regarding a project. Loved all the ways the team can interact with each other, and how easy it was to find old conversations when I needed guidance (instead of being lost in a sea of emails on a variety of subjects).

Cons

The price is out of reach for the vast majority of nonprofits I work with and that really, really need this software. Any other complaints I have about the software revolve around users not taking the time to learn to use it or not keeping their information up-to-date about a project we're all working on.

We have been using Basecamp 2 and Basecamp 3 for years now and we have never felt a need to change to another software that will help us collaborate and monitor most of the tasks that we need to do for our clients. For us, it is complete and dynamic to the live processes that we do.

Pros

Its functionality is best used in the kind of process we do. Project timeline tracking, progress reporting, task management and process updates are quite important and are monitored with ease with the use of Basecamp2 and Basecamp3.

Cons

Chat capacity for Basecamp 2. Auto access of uploaded files in the Documents and Files section versus within Task To Do trail section for Basecamp 3.

I love basecamp. I recommend it to all the companies I deal with.

Pros

I loved that I was able to use this to get updates to the technicians and have a paper trail. I also used it in lew of meetings with service techs. I would post an idea and then they could respond or interject on their time. They could also go back and look at any and all tech support I had posted. The techs used it to post pictures of issues they had come across to see if others had come across them before or what they had done to solve issue.

Cons

I feel as though this is a strong platform that works really well for our industry and actually saved us time from not having meetings.
