### "Simple and Easy to use Project Management software for Small businesses"

June 3, 2022

5.0

I chose basecamp for its light Ui and software size, It worked smoothly and it's very easy to manage a project for a single person. In my own experience, I found it's best for one-person use.

Pros

Its UI, and easy task and project management feature attacked me a lot.

Cons

Using basecamp with multiple users was hard to manage every micro tasks for all.

### "We use Basecamp primarily to facilitate ongoing projects and bugs related to our CRM system."

April 30, 2018

4.0

During and immediately after our CRM migration, Basecamp has served as the principle project management platform in use by our office. We used it throughout the entire process, including as part of our interactions with our CRM vendor, and it has been a valuable tool in keeping the various units who depend on our CRM up-to-date and informed.

Pros

Basecamp makes it very easy to organize and cross reference tasks by type, user, or due date. We divide up our to-do tasks into buckets, allowing users to submit an issue in a specific area and tag our admins. This allows us to prioritize what needs our attention, and allows for transparency in the process.

Cons

The variety of emails, notifications, and different areas within the platform can get confusing, and at times, our users miss things that have been assigned to them because they aren't sure where they should be checking.

### "Love this program!"

February 6, 2017

5.0

I cannot say enough good things about Basecamp. I first learned about it through a blogging community that I am a part of. I started using it and fell in love with it. It's very user friendly. I can't think of one thing that I didn't know how to use and needed to watch a tutorial to figure out. It's that easy to navigate. I've used Basecamp 2 and Basecamp 3. My only "disappointment" is that I'd been a user of Basecamp 2 and I couldn't transfer my data from Basecamp 2 to Basecamp 3 when I upgraded. I still don't get that. As a teacher, I've used it for my classes and my students have set up accounts to follow their assignments and other class activities. As a minister, I use to track the myriad projects I oversee for my church. In fact, I don't know how I'd keep on top of what I do if I didn't have Basecamp. Perhaps there's something better than Basecamp...but I'm not looking for it!

Pros

The ability to parse out the different steps in a project and to assign those tasks to someone else. I love that it has a calendar and I appreciate being able to access Basecamp on my laptop, my iPad and my Galaxy Note.

Cons

The daily notifications can get to be too much because you can receive one for EVERY "to do" item in your account. You can turn them off. But, I've been afraid to because I don't want to miss anything. So, I suffer through the mountain of notifications that come in.

### "The software to help teams plan, track, and manage their projects."

August 29, 2023

4.0

Basecamp is the most user-friendly software for project management and capacity planning, as it centralizes project-related communications and documents.

Pros

What I love about Basecamp is the user-friendly and minimalist interface with a focus on simplicity and efficiency. You can define tasks, assign deadlines, share documents, and communicate with team members, all from a single interface.

Cons

I have been using Basecamp for over 6 months recently and have not noticed any negative aspects to it. Furthermore, it offers mobile applications for iOS and Android devices, allowing convenient access to projects even while on the go.

### "Great tool for collaborations and Product Management "

November 16, 2023

5.0

I mostly used it for my personal project or freelancing projects.

Pros

Clean and seamless interface for anyone. The task management is quite simple with Basecamp. The dashboard is fantastic, customisable and easy to use. Ticks all my requirements and is suitable for small-mid-size teams.

Cons

It can be difficult for complex projects to be managed in Basecamp eg. not having the option to add subtasks to the primary task. And obviously, further integration options are needed.

### "Hands-down my favorite project management software"

February 25, 2020

5.0

I really love Basecamp. It is simple, powerful, and gets out of your way so you can get work done. It has replaced about three other apps (including Slack) for our team. In Basecamp communication is now centered on getting things done and improving our products versus just chatting. There is an ideology to understand when using Basecamp but if you can adopt that you will be more productive and less stressed about getting work done.

Pros

Very affordable especially considering how many other solutions it replaces. Very clean minimal interface that gets out of your way and lets you get work done. Very fast and reliable. The mobile app is fantastic as well.

Cons

There is a little bit of a learning curve with the single page interface but that is be design.

### "Basecamp to the rescue"

January 30, 2019

4.0

Basecamp is an amazing tool, and the team provides swift and excellent customer service. This tool has enabled our team to have a clearer sense of where our projects stand, who is responsible for what, and when we can expect completion.

Pros

Basecamp is a fantastic project and task management tool. The folks at Basecamp are committed to providing a powerful yet simple productivity tool that doesn't get in the way of your work, and they've achieved it. In my context, the most unique features are its approach to team work (outside/alongside projects), personal/team assignments, focus mode, and robust search/archival options.

Cons

Basecamp lacks the ability to use tags, which makes some aspects of categorization and prioritization difficult. Also, while I applaud Basecamp's commitment to simplicity, I would appreciate the option (not the requirement) for admins to turn on the ability to use sub-tasks. The task groupings feature is great, but does not quite meet the demands of my context.

### "It has been great overall for communication and design asset delivery."

February 2, 2018

5.0

Having all our project management communication channels aligned in a single place helps us simplify our efforts and focus on what really matters, building a great product.

Pros

\- Great way to keep each of your discussions organized. - Storage is assets management works like a charm - New features weekly

Cons

\- Even though it's great for project management it is still complicated for issues tracking and progress tracking, we have to always use a separated tool to manage development tickets. It would be great to improve the ToDos in order to manage everything in a single place. - Search is not good, lack of better filtering system, searching for specifics it's hard and results are always mixed between projects. - No easy way to have clients separated from members if you don't started the project the right way.

### "Its an useful tool for collaboration and keeps everyone on the same page. Very easy to use ."

December 22, 2017

4.0

We are using this software to keep everyone in loop including the customer. It helps in documenting the conversations we had with the customer and helps immensely whenever we have to refer an old discussion.

Pros

This software has allowed the teams to work together efficiently and still keeping the things very easy. It has definitely helped everyone here to gain certain number of hours each week and contributing significantly to steer the organization forward.

Cons

It would be great if some flexibility can be added to customize the main layout elements that are used for different projects. So if some layout is not going to be used for a specific project, then there should be an option to remove it. For example, most of the projects we do don't require a Campfire (casual chat) and a Message Board (more formalized postings.)

### "Satisfactory platform for interface for projects"

October 23, 2019

4.0

Having used this software for a job with one company and a current project management, it is altogether strong in providing some communication and access for meetings/check ins/etc. It was unique and strong upon first release but as time has gone on, it hasn't seemed to develop further. With the above strengths, it is still relevant to use and provides a substandard experience for team members and project managers. And I may have not been provided the most recent updates with this but when using, please keep in mind that it isn't the easiest app to use and is fairly limited in providing successful communication.

Pros

Some of the strongest notes about basecamp were: - Great for announcement of meetings/trainings/schedules -Did provide an option to interface with colleagues and managers - Was sometimes used to provide a discussion platform where colleagues could help each other with something.

Cons

With this in mind, here were the pitfalls to using the app/website: -Much of the resources that proved most successful were best used on a phone and the app had a lot of bugs with it. When used on the site, the resources were great but again, the immediacy and convenience for my colleague who were commuting much of the day, was really important and they missed out on doing so. -When attempting to use the communication tools (interface chat rooms, shift changes, etc.) the site and app would prove challenging and tedious. - Beyond the bugs of the app, it was truly difficult to navigate both the site and app to understand what was capable and accessible and what came with subscriptions and so forth.

### "Basecamp is great for collaboration and communication for project teams"

April 15, 2021

5.0

I have had a good experience with Basecamp overall. It has helped streamline several projects in which I have been a participant.

Pros

I like the various ways to communicate with team members that exist. The message board, pings, and campfire.

Cons

Having so many ways to post relevant project information can make it a bit confusing at times. The search feature is helpful to find if an important item was discussed on the message board, a ping, posted to a document or at the camp fire.

### "Basecamp review"

October 7, 2021

3.0

We use it for communicating with a publication, to which we have to deliver materials according to the editorial plan. It works fine for that. I also used it with one of my earlier employers to collaborate in a small team and track project deliverables, for which this was a good software.

Pros

It is an outside platform that I can use to collaborate with an outside organization, which is not that easy to set up in our internal systems

Cons

Not sure, if we don't know better, and there is a way to have a different view of the projects, but updates are piled up on each other and sorted by time, not by relevance to the subject

### "Easy to use, but missing important features"

October 30, 2022

3.0

I enjoyed basecamp a lot except for the disorganization with the task lists. I would use it again if I could customize my lists more.

Pros

I like that is it easy to use, and add projects and tasks, and to communicate with team members. I like the way tasks can be set up, and easy to read and see information regarding the tasks.

Cons

When you complete a task, it doesn't go away or move to the bottom of the list, so it gets very disorganized and filled with complete and incomplete tasks mixed together. I tried to find ways to customize this, but I couldn't find one. It seems obvious that completed tasks should be moved at least to the bottom of a list.

### "Simple, not demanding (time, project) management"

March 11, 2020

3.0

We used Basecamp for almost two year as our project management tool in a team of about thirty people. It allowed us to make a step forward in managing internal and external communication and my overall experience is positive. Sometimes I feel the need of something more, but I'm happy considering the price of the product.

Pros

I like a lot the interface of Basecamp. It reminds me UI of some years ago and I enjoy this nostalgic effect. It is simple, clean and allow some nice personalization. Another positive point is the pricing: the flat price is definitively something that makes a difference in a large team. Others similar software ask you to pay for each user, while Basecamp allow unlimited users, projects, etc. Last but not least: it allows to easily integrate the clients in the communication through shared message boards and tasks lists.

Cons

I don't like the fact that at the end of the day Basecamp lacks some important aspects for project management. Above all the opportunity to assign a time span to a task or to a project. You can set deadlines, but sometimes it's essential to visually see the time as periods. Another thing that I find annoying is that you cannot really choose which kind of notification receive. The daily recaps sometimes are not the right way to notice important info and if someone forgets to tag you can lose the points.

### "Basecamp Get Projects Done"

March 23, 2021

4.0

It has been great and I do not have much to complain about. The product is a tool, it works all the time and it gets out of the way.

Pros

We use it to stay on task and get this done by using a team for collaboration. The product makes it easy for people to stay up to date to the minute on projects getting done.

Cons

It is super simple and all features are stripped out of the product. They do not update or add new features.

### "Great universal search"

March 13, 2023

5.0

I'm a big fan of it - you can use with customers and employees you can create standard practice documents and many different projects to track. I used it with a VA and that was a great tool to work together with them.

Pros

I love how I can search everything - I can find an obscure note on a project that has critical info. I like how they divide things up into sections - that chat with teammates is awesome it works great both mobile and on PC.

Cons

I had trouble using the timeline project view and not sure why it wasn't working for me but not a huge loss

### "Simple one in all Task/Issue/Project Management Tool"

September 18, 2019

4.0

Simple one tool for tasks, bugs, issues document storage and communication.

Pros

1 -Quick to setup 2 -Easy to use 3 -We can have lists and to-dos. Lists can be used similar to Stories. To-Dos is equivalent to Tasks. 4 - There is an option to alert everyone from next post on the ticket or send the last post to all the newly added watchers 5 - There is an option to ping one on one (Communication, Quick chat) 6 - There is provision to upload documents

Cons

1 - Does not have many Phases/Status for the ticket. That means, we cannot move the ticket from New -> Work in Progress -> Testing -> Test Failed -> Resolved -> Closed etc. We can have open and closed. 2 - There is no board concept 3 - Did not see provision for Actual Effort 4 - Did not see provision for Story point / Effort estimate

### "Basecamp user for 6 years"

February 2, 2017

5.0

I've been a user of Basecamp (classic version) for almost 6 years now. I used it at my previous place of employment, and currently use it for my graphic design and photography business. It keeps us on track, maximizes our productivity, and is easy to use. Adding milestones to the calendar is one of the most convenient features for us. It allows us to see at a glance what our workload is like for the day, and who is working on what. I love how Basecamp has a Tick integration feature, which makes creating hourly reports very convenient when billing time comes around. I also like the private message feature on projects. It makes internal communication that client's don't need to see (like quality assurance and proofing checks) really easy. I highly recommend it. I know some of the newer versions of Basecamp have more tech savvy features, but we continue to use Classic due to convenience and personal preference. To be honest, we've been so busy we haven't had time to think about switching to a newer version. It doesn't appear that the calendar feature is a part of the newer Basecamp versions. Due to our large volume of projects, it really helps us to see all in once place what's due for the day with the Basecamp classic calendar feature. I'd love to be able to color code calendar items for one more level of "At a glance" organization.

Pros

It's easy to use, keeps us organized, boosts productivity, and is integrated with our Tick account.

Cons

I'd like color coding features for calendar items so I can better tell at a glance what the status of projects are. I wish the newer versions of basecamp (after classic) incorporated the calendar feature.

### "Solid Project Management System"

December 6, 2018

4.0

A good, solid choice for your project management system without all the bells and whistles. Could do with a few extra tools to help manage months and quarters.

Pros

Overall Basecamp does what I need it to do: help me manage projects broken down into individual tasks, whether they're mine or things I have to assign to others. It's simple, easy to use and used correctly helps move the workflow along.

Cons

\+ The calendar shows milestones which is helpful but doesn't give us a calendar view of each individual's month. Doing so would make it easier to plan out each month and quarter. + The simplicity is excellent but everyone has to be onboard with your system and workflow for it to work. This is the case for all project management systems but there are no little tools or fallbacks to help keep people on track.

### "Basecamp is a strong software for companies that need a little of everything."

March 9, 2018

4.0

Pros

Basecamp is versatile, can plug into a lot of different things, and allows for a good place to share documents, write notes with team members, and put together task lists. It's easy to use, easy to admin, and has a nice feature to show some things to the client while prevents them from seeing other things. There's also a correspondence with the client section so that you can let everybody on the team know where the client is at in communication with you. It's API lets you plug in easily with other solutions such as accounting software, for even more powerful use-cases.

Cons

Basecamp is also surprisingly shallow. It lacks a lot of project management or task list options I would expect from a software that I pay this much for. There are a lot of nice things one can do with this product, but if you need it to go deeper, you will end up needing to pay for a project/task management software, file-sharing software, CRM, and team-portal software. It's a good software, but know how far you need it to reach before investing heavily into setup. Use the demo and decide.
